How Would You Book A MITB Cash-In?

Ok, so we all know that MITB Cash-Ins in which the MITB superstar wins the title from the champion unexpectedly have been some of the most special and exciting moments of the past few years. Don't believe me? Just think about how much you marked out when Punk won it from Edge last year. It was epic. MITB Cash-Ins are just epic, plain and simple. Let's look at them over the years so far:

2005- Edge cashed it in by defeating Cena for the title right after Cena won a brutal and exhausting Elimination Chamber at New Year's Revolution.

2006- RVD cashed it in by challenging (and defeating) Cena for the title in an epic and exciting matchup at One Night Stand.

2007- Edge cashed it in by defeating Undertaker for the title after Taker went through a brutal cage match with Batisa and endured a beating by Mark Henry on Smackdown.

2008- Punk cashed it in by defeating Edge for the title after Edge endured a brutal beating from Batista on Raw.

These matches (if you can call them that, save the RVD/Cena match) have been some of the most riveting WWE moments in the past few years, and I think everyone would agree with that. Their unpredictableness and the element of surprise that go along with each of them make them what they are.

So, if you could book a MITB Cash-In, what would it be like? There's no limits, so you can go crazy- have it happen any way you like! Oh, and btw, it doesnt have to apply to any certain MITB winner or any certain champion- just make it generic so it could be applied to any situation.

Here's what mine would be like:

The champion comes out the night after retaining his title at a PPV, bragging about his win. He claims that he'll be champ for a long time to come, and claims that he's one of the best champs that the WWE has ever seen (sort of like what Edge was doing when Punk won it from him in 2008). All of a sudden the lights go out! It's completely dark, and all you can hear is the champ freaking out in the middle of the ring. Suddenly the MITB winner's music comes on, but his titantron vid doesn't come up, thus leaving the arena in complete darkness. As the crowd roars you hear some sort of commotion in the ring. The lights flick back on just as the MITB superstar is in the middle of his finisher on the champ. He pins him for the 1-2-3 (the ref came out with him) and the "match" is over. And there you have it, a new champion! Now in order for this to work both the MITB winner and the ref have to be waiting under the ring until the lights go out. When they go out both men would have to rush into the ring and quickly execute the rest of the scene, so the entire ordeal would only be a few moments. It would be quick, it would be exciting, and EVERYONE would mark out.

So, how would YOU book a MITB Cash-In?

I do like the excitement of it. That's why it's such a draw. How about this but it takes a lot of effort.

I'm gonna use proper superstars because I will confuse my small brain if I try to use terms instead of names.

So we all know that Punk won MITB this year. It gets to February next year and Punk says that he is gonna cash it in, in order to finally main event WM, He is put in a fatal four way with, I don't know, Cena, Triple H and Batista (It doesn't have to be them but I am just speculating). Anywho, Everyone knows that Punk is cashing it in and the build up begins. During the match every superstar involved is getting annihilated until Punk hits someone with the GTS and pins someone. After the match, as Punk celebrates Cena and Batista hit Punk with a 'attitude adjustment' and a 'Batista Bomb' out of frustration of not winning and losing to the rank outsider. At that moment, Edge, who won the MITB at WM26 ebters and hits Punk with a spear and wins the title.

How good that would be. 2 MITB's cashed in in 1 match. That would rock!

I actually thought this year would have been the year the MITB winner cashed it in that night after the title match that night, but guess not, may happen next year, should happen one year, too bad hogan didn't have that rather than just stealing the main event spot from Bret at WM9....i think a good build up would be to have a MITB winner be so confident that he says he doesn't need the MITB he will win the rumble and get his main event spot and actually do so...then at wrestlemania he loses the match and have it be a real grueling one...then have him say i'm not done yet, kind of like jeff hardy did to taker a few years back, how much did u feel jeff's determination that night. So now the MITB winner cashes in, goes in for more of a beating only to come out on top at the end. Even better, have the MITB say that it will be a stipulation match so last man standing or hell in the cell or something and then have them cash it that night after the match. It would really just set up for a great main event to have two matches back to back and totally different ones so even if people see it coming with the right two superstars it will still be a great main event and great moment. To maybe reduce the chance of ppl remembering it, stop mentioning it after WM, enter that person in the rumble and then have him bring it up after the match, granted some ppl will remember, lots may not in that long period of time.

Ok, give me some thoughts on this...Randy loses his match at Backlash from some kind of interference (maybe from Stephanie?). But he still wants the title...so he starts Absolutely TRASHING CM Punk, and goads him into a match for the briefcase, so that Randy can use it to challenge Triple H. Anyways, someone interferes on CM Punk's behalf and he wins to retain the briefcase...dont have him win cleanly though.

Of course Vickie comes out and pulls her "excuse me" crap, and says that Randy deserved to win...so she books Triple H vs. Randy Orton in a Hell in a Cell match for Judgment Day. Orton wins the title.

Fast forward to the Great American Bash...Randy has just successfully won a feud with Batista (After finishing his feud with HHH). He asks for another challenger only to be replied by CM Punk...who comes out Briefcase in hand...everyone Marks out.

BUT...CM Punk isn't challenging Orton yet...he'll Face him in the Main Event at Summerslam. They promo back and forth...but CM Punk holds his own. Finally CM Punk wins the title cleanly at Summerslam (Everyone goes crazy again). And successfully wins several more matches with Randy.

Therefore, we had not one...but TWO chances to mark out at CM Punk.
Plus by having him cleanly beat Orton at the top of his game...suddenly Punk is immediately elevated to believable main-eventer!

Here we go...C.M. Punk and Kofi Kingston go at it for the case. Kofi wins this match and takes the case, he doesn't come down with it and they don't mention it for a long time. In the meantime Edge wins a title and it comes elimination chamber time. Everyone enter the chamber for edges title...edge being last comes down only to have Kofi Kingston Attack him from behind hitting him in the head with a chair against the steel steps. he cashes in the case and pins edge to win the title and take his place in the E.C.....ultimate revenge for Kofi :)

All i want to see is a heel cash in the MITB after the champ is beatdown, hurt and exhausted and lose. Just to change it up from the constant champ gets destroyed MITB holder comes in and cashes it. That or what RVD did and cash it in for an actual match.

Wow..... Men Is Not So Easy.. Let Me See......ahmmmmmmm Let's Do It This Way As An Example:

John Cena Is Scheduled To Do Battle With Big Show On Raw Or Against 2 Superstars In A 2 On 1 Handicap Match..... Then After Cena Ends The Match, A Heel Gm Comes Out And Schedules Him Into Another Match, "maybe Working An Angle Of A Gm Who Felt Disrespected By Something Cena Said Or Did Some Days Ago" Then Cena Sees Himself In Another Match Maybe The Handicap Bout...... After Another Miracle Win By Cena, He Prepares To Exit The Ring When He's In The Ramp, Cm Punk's Theme Rocks!!!!!!, He Attacks Cena On The Back Of The Head With The Mitb Briefcase And Sends Him To The Ring, The Referee Who's Still There Rings The Bell, Punk Gets A G.t.s And The Gold........ Maybe That's A Different Way......

Or Cena After The Last Man Standing Match At Backlash With Edge, They Beat The Hell Out Of Each Other And Punk Cashes In After The Main Event

So, this is what i have in mind...
We'll have some sort of tag team match with CM Punk teaming up with John Cena and after the match, you would see cm punk with his briefcase in hand and he looks down at it and looks at cena with his belt in hand. Next, cm punk takes his briefcase and bashes it in the head of cena and cashes it in right there and than and wins the belt. Or possibly just have him hit cena in the head with the briefcase and cash it in at an upcoming pay per view with cm punk always always getting the upperhand on cena in the build up. I think that either one is good.. any thoughts? suggestions?

have the mitb winner also win that following yrs royal rumble. lets say its punk. punk vs cena. after a 35min match cena gets a clean victory. as cena is walking up the ramp punk grabs the mic nd informs cena that he still has the brifcase to cash in that he won the yr b4. he cashes it they go another 10 min nd punk gets a clean win

I woulld rather the MITB played out for the IC title each year, it would make the belt seem like its worth risking your body for it like it used to. No more briefcase, just unhook the title and you have instant prestige.

He's my idea for Punk,

Next year around Mania time, once all the Title matches are set up and contracts signed, Punk openly admits that he is going to use the case at Mania (so they cant change the title matches. So all contenders and champs know that some1 has to face him after Mania.

I love the idea, and since Mania next year is (i believe) March 28th.

Realistically, I'd cash it in right after the WM main event there on the grandest stage of all. I think most MITB winners would do that if they truly owned that decision. That instantly cements your name in immortality. Like pulling a Hogan at WM9 :p

I would like to see a Royal Rumble be for the WWE Title or Heavyweight Title (after one becomes vacated) and have somebody who would never normally stand a chance of winning a Rumble, and wins by a fluke after being in for a long time (therefore tired), then the MITB briefcase holder would come down and challenge them and win.
This would make the Rumble seem more of a lottery too.

I like the cashing it in during a match thats already going on.

My idea is to have a face with the briefcase. For about the first month, he comes out with the briefcase as is standard. About a month into it he gets fired, not fired onscreen, but they release a statement that the WWE has come to terms on his release.
The announcers dont mention it, just like they dont mention any real releases.
Maybe have J.R. wish him well on his little blog.
The WWE does not mention the MITB briefcase and they do not give it to someone else.
This guy does the typical interviews that wrestlers do when they are released and says he has a 6 month no compete clause.

Meanwhile, Youve got a Heel Champion just dominating everyone he faces.
He is a sneaky son of a bitch who almost always loses the belt, but somehow always manages to retain.
The night after a Big Pay Per View, he cuts a promo about how he cant be beat and how he defeated his opponent last night.
Said opponent is not there to defennd himself.
The champ goes on about how he untouchable and he may just have to retire with the belt.
All of a sudden without fan fare a fan in a black hoodieand sunglasses jumps the guardrail, hits the Champ from behind and pops him with his finisher . He pulls off the sunglasses and drops the hood to reveal who he is ,motions to the ref, who counts the fall and we have a new world champ who everyone thought was gone from the company.

Yes I know its very similar to Jannetty/Michaels 93, but it was awesome then and it would be better now.

To me this would be an insane way to cash in MITB

Say like you and another wrestler are best friends and everybody knows it, like Eddie and Benoit. And then at Mania your in the MITB, and he is challenging for the WHT, and before MITB match starts your doing a promo talking about how your the favorite to win the MITB. Your friend walks up and yall say good luck to each other and hug then you win MITB a little bit later. He has a hellacious match with who ever the WHC is and wins he is tired all the conffeti is falling down you come out to do a Eddie and Benoit thing. Yall are crying, then you hug him and when you hug him you hand the briefcase over to the ref who coincidentally is still in the ring you point to the ring announcer/bell and your friend is unaware. Until out of nowhere "The following match is scheduled for one fall and it is for the WHT" and then you betray him by hitting your finisher on him and winning the title

The champion comes out the night after retaining his title at a PPV, bragging about his win. He claims that he'll be champ for a long time to come, and claims that he's one of the best champs that the WWE has ever seen (sort of like what Edge was doing when Punk won it from him in 2008). If The Undertaker ever won MITB, that would definitely be how he'd do it. Fits him like a glove.

I like your idea, but I have an even better one based off of yours. The MITB winner does exactly as you said, claims he doesn't need MITB, he is going to win the Rumble instead. He wins and heads to mania to challenge for the WHC. The MITB winner has a grueling match and actually wins the title. Make this match the first of the 2 title matches. Then after the WWE title match is decided, the MITB winner and new WHC comes down and cashes in MITB and wins the WWE title, becoming the new Undisputed Champ.

punk should cash it in at backlash thats if orton wins the title and he should take revenge on orton

I think it would, for me at least, depend on who was in posession of the briefcase at that moment. If it were what i would do now with CM Punk, I would have the GM come out and announce championship scramble for the next PPV. On the night of the PPV however, one of the four challengers would either pull out through injury or the the champ would attack them to reduce the risk of losing the belt. With the champ and the 3 remaining challengers in the ring, Punk would come out to the stage and announce he is cashing in his MITB briefcase and then get the first pinfall in the 20 minute time limit which would keep with the angle of every MITB winner successfully cashing in the briefcase whilst still leaving the possibility open for someone else to walk out as champion. I only give this option because, as good as Punk is in the ring, I personally do not see him as a main event talent.

Everyone always thinks that if you have the briefcase you are always going to win, because thats what happened with the first 4 people who have held the briefcase.

What I would do this year with Punks Briefcase is have him cash it in after the Last Man Standing Match at Backlash on Cena (if he wins). Punk hits him with the GTS, but then Cena kicks out, and then Punk goes for another GTS but Cena reverses with the FU and then pins him. This isnt because I dont like Punk or I love Cena, its purely becase I think the MITB is being taken for granted a bit as a definite world title, when its only a shot at the world title.

By Punk losing this shot we can open up a whole new side to his character e.g. a crazed heel character solely intent on winning the title (ala Edge in 04/05/06). Punk is in a need for a character change as it is, and losing a MITB title match is a perfect opportunity for Punk to undergo this character change. From this Punk can have a good feud with Cena, possibly with a Punk title change at GAB or Extreme Rules (in a cheating heel way) and with Cena regaining the title at a higher profile event like Summerslam.

If the feud could get personal it could be a potential feud of the year candidate, but it would have to be booked carefully obviously, as Punks character change will be a big one. But this is how I would book the MITB cash-in, its slightly risky but the pay-off could be huge.

The best way to cash in the MITB would be like this..........Mr Kennedy wins MITB at WM25........Then goes on to win the Royal Rumbe next year. Mr. Kennedy wins the WHC from whoever the champ is at WM26 and then later that night cashes in the MITB to win the WWE title as well....... Yes? No?

I'd book whoever has the case strongly throughout the year. They'd then challenge for the title at WrestleMania. It seems so simple to me. You have Punk win every feud he's in over the course of the year, he doesn't have to win all the time. But the final outcome of the feud should be an overall Punk victory.

Somebody then wins the Rumble, they pick who they want to face, Punk challenges the other champion. By this point he's a serious contender and he shouldn't look out of place as a WrestleMania headline, I'd then have him lose.

Here is an excellent scenario:

Next week at the 3 hour Draft Special, in a match that determines draft picks, have Cena face off with HHH. Just as the draft special has done, the WWE likes to pit top level talent against each other for draft picks, so this match could happen with Smackdown vs. Raw pride on the line (everyone remembers HHH is still on the Smackdown roster, right?). Have it be the last match of the night, having already revealed that with the first pick, Cena has been drafted to Smackdown with his WHC (I hate Cena so moving him to Smackdown would make me very happy). Cena still represents Raw's pick and HHH will still represent Smackdown's pick. HHH and Cena have a grueling match and it is interrupted by Legacy beating down both of them and leaving a Championship pile in the ring. At that moment, as Batista has just come down to clear the ring and help HHH back to the lockerroom, Punk's music hits, he gives the GTS to Cena, wins the WHC, and because the match ended in a draw, Raw and Smackdown each get a pick and Raw takes HHH and Smackdown takes Punk. The Last Man Standing Match then becomes a Triple Threat Last Man Standing (never before seen), and Punk reverts back to his ECW roots and cleanly & brutally beats Edge and Cena to get put over.

Just thinking outloud...but why not have someone cash it in at WM the night they win it??? It would be different and immediatly give wrestling fans something to think about. Just thinking, but having someone come down when the guy is beaten up is getting old. Its like spraying someone from a truck or throwing someone off a bridge. How many times is that interesting? Win it the same night at Mania. The guys career would skyrocket.

How bout have the champ have a gruelling match for the title where he just barely get's away with a victory (but get's beaten so badly that he leaves on a stretcher or needs help leaving the ring).

The next night (while the champ is not in the arena because he is healing) have the MITB winner (a heel) cash it in so they have to give him the title match, but because the champ is not there to defend his title he must forfeit the world title to the MITB winner and he becomes the new champ. I thought this would work for a heel (Orton, Jericho, Edge, ect.) because not only would it give him a chance to be champ, it would also build amazing heat because the title was literally given to him without even having to fight for it.
