Highlanders Heel Turn

Again what was the point? Have they achieved everything they could as a face tag team? Yeah. Two seconds after they had made there debut. And now as heels what will they achieve? Nothing. Do WWE not know that they now only have one face tag team on Raw?

How are they going to get the tag titles on them if they wish to go that way? Obviously they will go for a triple threat tag match against London & Kendrick vs. Cade & Murdock. But if they decide that The Highlanders are going to get the titles who will they pin? L & K you would imagine. The face team. But then doesn't that make C & M the number one contenders?

There is no point to this as there was talk a few weeks ago of sending them to Smackdown. Least there they could have still been faces. But a heel turn is like WTH man they did nothing as faces just get be glorified jobbers. The only time they got over as faces was when the debuted and got a tag team title match at Unforgiven 06 against the Spirit Squad. Since then jobbers and get squashed by guys like Khali.

So this move surprises me but since WWE gave them thisheel turn we could see them win the gold by pinning L & K. Thus having Cade & Murdoch be tweeners for awhile. But i guess this is a last ditch effort to do something with the Highlanders.

In my opinion, the Highlanders didn't "turn heel" in the traditional sense. They were denied a title shot, and even though everybody treats them like they are dumb, they came out and interfered THE SMART WAY....

They didn't attack Cade and Murdoch. Instead, they caused Cade and Murdoch to get a loss.

JazzyOne has a point. By attacking Londrick (again, can someone actually confirm that as their tag name? Does it matter?) they did prove to turn away from the face side..

However, they also cost Cade/Murdoch their match, & clearly kept repeating.. "Now we get the shot." So they weren't turning heel on London/Kendrick, they were simply justifying themselves because they wanted a shot.

The turned 'tweener' & in doing so, will most likely cause a set-up to which THEY will be the ones to lose at No Mercy, in a Triple Threat match, in which London & Kendrick may win the Championships, only to then turn around & defend against the Highlanders & Rednecks.

This could be the best way to allow Cade/Murdoch to lose the belts, but since they're kinda bare for Tag Teams, allow them to stay in the hunt.. since they didn't actually lose.

so, like a sucker I shelled out for the Unforgiven PPV the other week... not really because I was innundated with the card that was being promoted, but because my friend and I wanted to Mock Batista and Khali in their title match(that also featured Rey Mysterio so that it looked like someone in the ring could actually move)... but nestled in that horrible PPV was the realization that the WWE desperately needs to repackage Cade & Murdoch. London & Kendrick came out to fast lively music, and they were jumping around and doing flips, and then... you get that slow country walk to the ring. Certainly prophetic of how Cade & Murdoch wrestle, but also, it killed all of the enthusiasm that Londrick had just built in the crowd for the match. Long story short, Cade & Murdoch need a bounce in their entrance step. Or you might as well watch paint dry to get ready for the match.

Oh, yeah, as for the highlanders, how else were you going to care that they existed again?

Hmm now someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but by the Highlanders attacking L&K didn't they get Cade and Murdoch DQ'ed... Thus L&K win the match? So technically K&K should be #1 contenders... That's not the point of this thread though.. Heel turn... Honestly wut the Hell WWE? So now we got 1 face tag team left on Raw unless WGTT or Cade and Murdoch go face, which I really can't see happening. If they want the highlanders heel have them heel over on SD! I'm getting sick of D&D going for the titles. The highlanders did nothing after the Spirit Squad and I'm not expecting them to go far now...

At least they're being given something to do.......rather than getting the boot (a la Cryme Tyme).

There's no point in saying "what good is the heel turn gonna do?" or "this is garbage" until Monday, when we'll see where it goes.

Sheesh. Can't even give it a week.

Well, they've got thin intarwubs talking about the highlanders again, if you're going to move a worker, wouldn't you rather have at least some buzz around them? Plus, if i saw it correctly, they beat murdoch first to get l&k dq'ed, and then they laid out L&K because they had gotten the oppertunity for yet another title match. Man, can the WWE think of nothing but endless earned rematches when the faces are chasing the titles? I understand that that's one way to extend storylines when they involve the title and multiple possible contenders... but it seems almost formulaic at this point.

It was necessary because WWE needs to get a new team in the title picture, but The Highlanders were buried as jobbers for a year, so to have them just come in as faces and start beating the champs is simply not believable.

I think it was an act of desperation on the parts of those in the creative wing. The WWE is severely lacking in a tag team division now that they have two titles and only 6 tag teams, so they needed to bring the Highlanders into the scene by doing SOMETHING and they aren't talented enough to bring in through any legitimate storyline. Personally, I don't like the Highlanders at all in either gimmick or talent, I don't like Cade & Murdoch (mostly Murdoch's fault, but I hate the redneck gimmick anyway and I'd rather go for the Godwins back in the day), I don't like Deuce & Domino (mostly Domino, and I hate the greaser gimmick too), the Major Brothers haven't done anything in a while, the Daltons haven't even had a single match on Smackdown but its annoying that they've been cutting promos for half a year or so and haven't backed it up with anything...that leaves Londrick and the World's Greatest Tag Team. I'd like to see them team up some people that do nothing...people like Super Crazy, Funaki, blah blah blah...even if they're just a team for the current tag champs to go against while they wait to build up a feud.

Hopefully the new Hart Foundation will just dominate the tag title scene and they can start to clean up their rosters a little bit to make it a little more balanced.

And now as heels what will they achieve?

*BUZZ* and the answer is.... most likely their pink slips and a release from WWE pretty soon.

Well maybe not that far but this whole turn does just reek of the WWE creative team running out of ideas of what to do with them. This is usually a sign the exit door is looming once they run out of ideas.

The Highlanders were entertaining at first, even as a Scotsman myself I could laugh at all the ridiculous sterotypes they portrayed. Then WWE seemed to drop them to Heat pretty quickly and they've just lost momentum plus Cryme Tyme came on the scene and got way more over than the Highlanders ever did, just too bad WWE fired Cryme Tyme and now there stuck back with the Highlanders again and this weak Tag Division. It's a Catch 22 that keeps going round in circles, this whole division.

Technically now when Charlie Haas gets back there will be three heel tag teams (Cade & Murdoch, Highlanders and Worlds Greatest Tag Team) on Raw and only one babyface team (London & Kendrick). At least keeping the Highlanders as babyfaces would keep it all even.

Anyway, as I said above it's a sign that the creative team just don't know what to do with them so they took the quick route.

I never saw a point in having the highlanders on WWE, I never actually saw them win any match in their whole careers. (Probably Because i skipped all of their matches on my DVR) Exept for that 10 second Snitsky Match, that was funny to see how quickly either rorrie or robbie got beat down.
