Hey NSL

Not bad. Good luck! What do you plan to do with your degree??

Thanks man.

I would love to get a job calling either hockey or baseball, preferably at the professional level in Chicago. Or maybe have my own sports talk show or regular radio show on a rock or alternative station. However, in our Radio section, our teacher kept drilling into our heads to be ready for anything. So theoretically I could get offers from a hip hop, country, hell maybe even a jazz station in the future lol.

As corny as it may sound, you may want to think about doing a Sports vlog on YouTube or something, to get your name/face out there, as well as the idea of what market you'd prefer to get into. You have to be careful though because if you do get into an actual sports job, they'll make you sign a no-compete, and you'll have to go and delete all your videos :lmao:

I would probably get shit comments like "YOU FUCKING BLOW MAN!!!!!!!"

But doing radio is fun. Like we usually work on commercials and shit, and I am good at editing when we have to produce spots with copy and a music bed. Wednesday we move to TV lol.

It happens, but mixed in with all that will be good comments, as well as actual constructive criticism.

 Keep at it. Sounds like it's actually a budding career.

Constructive criticism is great. My teacher (an actual on-air personality) is great with it. Funny as fuck too, always busting on people and joking when not critiquing our work.

I am definitely happy I chose to go here. Cheaper than if I tried to go to Columbia or something as well. The future of radio is getting brighter and brighter. Although most people don't know what is going on behind the scenes, probably don't care about it either. So I won't go in on it unless you want to hear it.

An old friend of mine went to a school in Ohio for an 8 month program strictly for music recording and editing...He loved it, but said it was the hardest work he's ever done. He's working NYC now at a small label doing their stuff, so it's definitely something that's worth the effort.

Definitely a ton of hard work. In fact, soon I'll have to start looking for an internship at a station, and when I get one, balance school, work, and then my internship. But in the end it will be worth it. Like my teacher says "Gotta know how to play the game"

The (hopeful) eventual payoff is that you'll only need the broadcasting job, since school will finish, and it will replace your hospital job (if it all falls right).

It's tough, but if it works, then there's nothing better.

I'm really hoping I'll be given a job offer by the time I graduate in October. I still have a long time to make an impression on people, so I need to step up my game even more. I don't want to be stuck here longer than I have to with the way it is being run. Once I get my internship I just need to "WOW" people with how dedicated and hardworking I am. Because behind me is 20 others trying for the same opportunity.

Exactly.

Good luck though. You'll need it.

Thanks man. Then when I finally get my own radio show, you can listen to it hahahaha.

I look forward to it. You'll have to invite some posters to be call-in guests. Becker would be a great call-in for a sports show :lmao:

:lmao:

Actually he would. But I'm wondering if he could control his language, or if I would have to kick his call out due to constant swearing about how Big Ben is the greatest or how Pitt is epic.

That's wh you do the call a few days ahead of time, and then sit down and edit out all the cursing.

:icon_neutral:

The people at my job never cease to amaze me. Two girls (no older than maybe 16) offered two guys that were chilling in the lobby blow jobs if they could get them alcohol.

I sincerely hope that the entire generation isn't as lost of a cause.

Dude, we are all fucked with the kids that are a few years younger than me. They all are ****es and douchenoggers. And yes that is properly spelled with the "o" in it.

I'm just glad that I'll probably be dead before they have a "say" in how anything functions.

Are you psyched for Monday? I'll be at work watching...

I dread that day. Fucking douchenoggers.

I am extremely psyched for Monday. Obviously, I'll be sticking to watching WWE, and DVR/channel switching during commercials to TNA. Sorry about that lol.

I figured that would be the case. I'm almost wishing for it to fail, so they can go back to Thursdays.

Right now I feel it is just not the right time to make the move to Mondays.

Exactly. In my opinion, it should have been the "final" thing Hogan did as a part of TNA. He's done at the end of this year, so why not have it be his final moment, and make the switch at the beginning of next year?

In other news, I bought my own birthday gift this morning. I'm going to see From First To Last, Eyes Set To Kill, and Black Veil Brides the Thursday after my birthday :)

A nice send off would be very cool. Making a nice switch for the future. But, maybe it works, who knows.

Self Birthday gift? Very nice. I haven't heard of those bands, but because it is you, I can guess they are awesome.

If I didn't buy myself something, no one would. You probably wouldn't like From First To Last, and Black Veil Brides is...well...Hard to describe. They're like Aiden, but not emo, and not quite screamo. They're an acquired taste for sure. Eyes Set To Kill you'd like...

I just looked up both Black Veil Brides and From First To Last. Both aren't bad actually. Granted they were just quick listens on youtube. But not bad. And Eyes Set To Kill is pretty good too, for a first time listen.
