Haiku Hogan's Shit List

Shocky

For those of you that don't know, Paula Deen's in deep shit. And she should be; apparently the use of the "N" word is perfectly fine for her. Of course, it shouldn't be, and anyone that has half a brain cell realizes this woman should at least be held a little accountable for what she said.

And then there's Shocky.

Paula Deen got a raw deal on this one.

....I'm sorry, what? The woman that admitted to using the N word got a raw deal? I'm failing to see how racism = raw deal. But I'll follow along with you, I'll see exactly where this train's going.

I have a feeling the answer is "Stupid Land".

Asking a 68 year old southern white woman

I'm just going to back up the bus now on this one.... Why does this matter? For that matter, why should it matter? It's still prejudiced, at the very least. My grandfather grew up in Germany in the 40s, but if he goosesteps in public, I'm not going to justify his behavior that way. It's still wrong, and as a Jew, I'd be pretty pissed.

But Paula Deen gets screwed, because she's a little old lady? No, she's said something racist, multiple times, and is getting raked across the coals, like normal in the public eye.

Oh, and while we're here, I'll just skip to this "point"

Everyone to out and buy that Kanye album though, this country is so ass backwards sometimes.

So, what you're doing is deflecting to another douchenozzle (because let's all be honest, Kanye is a douchenozzle) who uses the word, and that should take Paula off the hook?

What you're asking for is for people to rake Kanye across the coals (which some have), while also saying Paula should be able to say it.

The argument of who gets to say ****** is an argument that will last longer than any of us. But to me, the correct answer is that word should be kept in another time. And if a white person has the gall to say it, in the manner which Paula dared to, then she deserves everything she fucking gets, and you deserve to be called out for trying to defend her.

Fucking get real.

if she has ever said the B word, and she answered honestly.

Yeah, because it was a deposition

It's some legit bullshit.

You're being an absolute dolt on this.

You'll have to link the thread so I can see Shocky's comments in context. Shocky's critical thinking skills are out of this fucking world so I'd be shocked if he didn't have a valid reason to say what he did here (unless it's about Jeff Hardy...Shocky hates that man with a passion that lies beyond reason).

I'm not doubting that this is true (though I agree that Shocky is in the wrong here, but mostly due to being misinformed of the situation), but how have you deduced this from WrestleZone?

My favorite things about Shocky are that he likes Cyclops and is an archaeological hobbyist.

I've actually softened on Jeff Hardy in my old age. The Paula Deen thing is me trying to play devil's advocate. Personally I'm not offended by an older, southern, descendant of plantation owners having her mentality. I understand it. My grandparents were southern, the word simply has a different meaning to them. I've been around for "those conversations" about ******s. They used the word casually, but without malice. It's simply what they used to describe African-Americans.

To me ******, queer, ******, and homo were words I used casually growing up, with little to no regard for those around me. It's simply words we used when I was a teenager. I've watched the culture shift that those words are becoming almost taboo as ****** was to me growing up. Now, people I grew up with still use those terms in jest from time to time, but taken out of context of our conversations, who knows how outsiders would view it.

Paula Deen said some stupid shit, but I understand where she is coming from. Judging from the context of her quotes, it seems like it was said without malice. Does it make it right,'probably not. I am willing to shrug her comments off though. She comes from a city that borders a state, that up until a decade ago, had public battles over using the Confederate flag.

All that being said, I think it's an accomplishment to get an honorable mention in this shit list thread.

For what it's worth, on a normal basis, I agree with Shocky on, like, everything.

It's like I said, you can be on the list, and me still like you. I think the only person I ever disliked that I put on was that Sidney fucker.

But yeah, I can understand Shocky's background. But still don't agree

OH GOD, I forgot. I hated that History and ProWrestlingFan dipshit

Shocky and I were tenure mods together, but - ironically enough - it was WZCW that I first got to know him. What do you say Shock, any chance of a Strife return?

Cyclops was right.

My degree in archaeology has helped me a ton in trying to remain as objective as possible in forming opinions. In school we were basically trained like Luke in Empire, we had to unlearn what we had learned in life. As archaeologist, you are writing history as you find it, and you have to present it in the most objective way possible.

Man I forgot about that. My ADD only allows me to post non spam post.

On a phone, so don't wanna be specific.

So wait, you're essentially trained that everything you know is wrong?

As an architect I feel it's my duty to create stuff for you to find 50 years in the future then.

Not necessarily wrong, but everything that I've learned is mostly from a WASP background, therefore my view of the world will be based on those morals. When you read old (I'm talking several hundred years old) history logs from white Europeans, it's hard to read based on modern sensitivity. Native Americans were simply thought of as Godless savages, a view that stuck in America for centuries.
When we discover new sites and try to write the history of said site, you try to come at it from a neutral standpoint. What you write can influence the way people think for years to come.

I'm curios, have you ever worked on any famous archaeological sites?

In the lab yes. In the field just a little. Mostly I've done mound restorations. I've worked on several other sites, but nothing major. Mostly I dealt with Hopewell culture sites. In the lab I've done work with objects from the Madisonville site (very important site I grew up a mile from).

I...I thought you would say Machu Pichu or Pumapunku, or something like that.

Don't do you dare put me on the shit list for this Haiku!

Still sounds fun Shock.

I did a study abroad in Peru, including staying at Machu Picchu for 3 weeks. I didn't do any field work (digging) though. I probably visited over a dozen sites in Peru while I was there.

Probably not? How about absolutely not. I actually find the without malice aspect of it to be the most disturbing part. I don't believe we should give people that are in the public eye the same exception some people give their grandparents. I think there is a big difference between being able to see why something is vs treating it as acceptable. If you can see the root cause of an unacceptable behavior then I don't understand why you wouldn't try and address the root cause to fix it. Then again that is likely at least partially a difference in mind sets since you seemed to be geared towards a removed, this is what happened thought process.

Out of curiosity, what is your opinion on the demographics of prison?

Brilliant just brilliant. A pictorial thread in tribute to that visit should be in order.
