Yes indeed, ladies and gentlemen. Graphics Wingman is upon us and in one of our first round matches, we have the different words colliding as the The Apple Spitters and Gringo Killers take on Furious Groove in a battle for graphics supremacy.

Introducing first, a team that is looking to make more noise than vuvuzela's... THE APPLE SPITTERS AND GRINGO KILLERS!

And their opponents, a team that is looking to get into the groove early...FURIOUS GROOVE!

The selected category for this match-up was television. Teams have until the 12th post graphics in this thread. On the 12th of July, two graphics, one from each member must be put forward to the public vote and a winner will be decided.

Please remember that this forum is non-spam, so if you want to discuss any graphic that is posted, please ensure that you follow the spam guidelines and rules for this forum. Alternatively, post your thoughts in the Graphics Wingman Discussion Thread in the Requests sub-forum.

So, with that said, let's get it on!

And here we go.

The first graphic of the bout. What I did here was opened a new document, and set it to black. I then found an image of cracked ground and manipulated it using various filters until I got something desirable. I applied it to the background. I made a layer under it, and brushed it with splatter brushes randomly. I made it an overlay (ctrl + alt). I applied my subject, lining it up perfectly in the middle by using a guide. Next I made a new layer, applied the image, and used the burn tool and light tool to get a nicer affect. I added a black to white gradient map and set it to overlay and turned down the opacity. I found the mythbusters logo, messed with the color, and added a slightly visible stroke. I lastly used a stroke and added a black inside stroke.

And here's my product for the TV category.

Good luck guys, and I can't wait to see what you all have in store.

Isn't that a beauty!?

To to this, I found a picture of Chris from the Star Wars episodes of Family Guy. I then duplicated him 10 times or so and smudged them altogether. After doing that, I then added in another render before putting that on a motion blur. I then duplicated that layer and put them all over the canvas. I then added a clouds layer and messed around with the layer styles. After that, I added in a C4D and put that on soft light, before erasing all of the parts I didn't like. I then put my render in another 3 times, leaving the top on one normal and the other two bigger ones on Lighten and soft light. I duplicated the render again and added a desaturated layer on top of that. I then went to work on adding suitable lighting and dark spots on the signature. I then added a lot more C4D's, gradient maps and photo filters. I then applied the image and worked on giving it more light and dark. I then sharpened up the focal, blurred the background before adding the render in the background and blurred all of that out to add some depth. I added my watermark and called it a day.

I did my graphic on my favorite TV show, Scrubs. I found this render of JD and I liked the way that he looked kind of lost. So I started with a radial gradient from black to the blue of his scrubs. I duplicated the render a few times and smudged them to make a nice little glow around him. I did some brushstrokes to make the background and messed with the colors to make it smoother. I added some medical images such as the medicine symbol, a syringe, and the Sacred Heart Hospital logo to go with the lost feel of the render, making it like all of these things were floating in his mind. To finish it all off, I added the text and border.

I don't watch much TV... On my TV. Satellite provider sucks. So I watch via the internet. Naruto Shipudden is one of those shows. It features great difference to the original ark and has some pretty interesting stuff. Then it turns you off with filler. But one thing is consistant through out the series. Everyone has the same objective. Finding their definition of peace. Through power, through revenge, through friendship, all of that. Naruto want's the answer to everlasting peace but has to endure much pain and suffering. Which is where the text comes from. No matter what, that's his objective. To lead the world to peace.

The sig has a Blood brush. After one or two strokes, I made a completely orange layer above all the other one's and gave it a "Color" fill. It then painted the sig to give it the current color. The text is white (duh) with a Draw Shadow effect and 1 px Stroke. I forget the font names. It's very easy to do. Plus I added my signature style 3D-ish borders.

I voted Furious Groove. While this was by far the best match-up in terms of sigs, I think Furious Groove just did it better. Even though every sig was done beautifully, Furious Groove's sigs were more unique. I think the turnoff for me, and the decision maker, in this match-up was the text on ASAGK's sigs. On Riaku's, its hard to read, and on TPP's the font seems default. While they both made excellent sigs, they just werent good enough to beat Furious Groove this time around.
