Glass Ass: The OFFICIAL JGlass Thread

Had my first day of working on the unit at the mental hospital today. It was actually a very tame day, but there is all sorts of potential for craziness given what some of these patients' histories. But after today I feel pretty confident I'm going to be able to handle it emotionally. I was told one particularly horrific backstory for a patient today and was able to shrug it off almost immediately.

Just a normal mental care institution or a specific kind of crazy?

It's an acute care facility, so we have patients that are an immediate danger to themselves or others anywhere else. I had to do checks today (you have to keep tabs on the patient's whereabouts and activities every 15 minutes, 5 if they are at a higher risk for suicide or assault), and on almost every patient's chart there was a risk for self-harm or suicide.

Is it open roam or seprate locked rooms given the sever nature of their history?

Locked units, but they're free to roam about the unit as long as they stay on their gender's side of the unit (it's an L shaped unit). If a patient does get so violent that they need to be locked up, we can restrain them to their bed and station someone by the door.

A few of them are nervous pacers (one is full blown psychotic and I'm pretty sure she's pacing to keep shit at bay), some of them play catch with stress balls, some sit and talk, some watch TV, some draw, some read, some play games, and some barely leave their room. It's a mixed bag of people with mental problems.

Good to see you taking to it & being positive. Sounds like you have a chance to take in some knowledge & to help do a bit of good that other jobs would not allow you to experience.

So I watched Knights of Badassdom.

The only thing cooler than Peter Dinklage tripping on mushrooms -is Demon Fighter Dinklage.............

The movie is funny & has its moments that are just silly but that is what they were aiming for here. If you havent seen it yet, I would recommend it. You cant go wrong with Summer Glau, Peter Dinklage & Danny Pudi all in the same movie.

Just to let you know, Cyclops is finally getting his own solo title.

Because Marvel doesn't have nearly enough X-titles already...

Any word on who the creative team is gonna be?

In other news my new AC adapter today, so yay!

EDIT: Nevermind saw the creative team is gonna be Rucka, & Dauterman, not bad. Rucka is one of my favorite writers, his Punisher run was excellent, & his work on his creator owned Image book, Lazarus is one of my favorite current ongoing series. I probably won't pick this up in issues, but a Rucka Cyclops book with him "Outer-space road tripping with his dad", as CBR put it, could be a fun read in trade.

Ya, I never buy floppies anymore. I trade wait on everything. My omnibus collection is starting to get out of hand, but I love OHC material.

I think I've cut down what I buy in issues down to only 7 ongoing titles, & one of those is about to get canceled (Indestructible Hulk, The Punisher, Batman, Nightwing, Star Wars, Lazarus, & Peter Panzerfaust), otherwise I trade wait on everything else.

You're a beautiful man for letting me know this and Marvel is clearly run by geniuses that know Cyclops is the greatest.

Is Punisher out now? I fell behind on comics last week when there was a big snowstorm on Wednesday, and I was at work all day today, so I'm going to have a bit of catching up to do over the weekend.

Hey, you comic people. I've been watching Arrow and I like it a lot. Have any of you read the New 52 version of the Green Arrow? Is it good?

More generally, is the New 52 good? I've been curious about asking for once of those fancy Omnibus editions for a gift at some point.

Yeah, released last week

How is that Punisher title you have been reading, justin?

The new one series kicked off last week, I thoroughly enjoyed the first issue

Eh, I stopped reading it awhile ago, it was alright I guess.

Batman & Nightwing are good, & I've heard good things about a few other titles like Wonder Woman, Flash, Swamp Thing, Aquaman, Batman Inc. (when it was still going), & Superman Unchained. For the most part though DC is a mess.

Got drive-by egged in the face last night, luckily the egg didn't actually break until it hit the ground, so disaster averted. Think angry ex-husband is finally exacting his revenge

I may have heard of this. Drive-by Chef, right? They toss ingredients at people & come back in 30 minutes to see what you cooked up. Did you make a cake for the win, or did you just go the easy way & fry up some bacon with the egg? Points for creativity, you know.

If I tell you about my wet leaf and mud omelet will you explain what Dynamite said?

Louie C.K. is a popular American comedian who has a TV show in which unfortunate things happen to him in a comedic way for the viewers enjoyment. Your previous post coupled along with that one thread about your friend wanting to hurt you over false info about his mom I just thought the same thing might be happening across the pond.

Weird, if he had manlier features and I started losing my hair we'd even look kinda alike.

Looks like the chavs aren't only after me.

Definitely not mate, I could tell they were chavs because they were screaming out the window when they did it, but as is always the case with such things all you can make out is "AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU"

Thats not to say they weren't actually shouting "AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU" of course.
