Glass Ass: The OFFICIAL JGlass Thread

Punk was maybe half as big as he was now. He and Hardy were placeholders for guys like Edge and Jericho. Edge had been in the title scene forever, so the tag thing was probably a way to shuffle him away from it for a brief time before throwing him right back in. Jericho was probably due to step up to.

Im sorry sir, this is simply untrue. Jeff Hardy was the most over guy in the company, and CM Punk was the hottest heel in the company. The first few months of him doing the holier than thou straight edge promos were nuclear white hot heat. Its still the most uncomfortable feeling ive ever had at a live event, it felt like a riot was going to break out.

Still a flash in the pan at the time. Granted, it's probably not his fault that the Straight Edge Messiah gimmick didn't lead to a sustained push, but regardless, it seems obvious to me that the WWE wasn't planning on keeping Punk in the title picture for long.

Hardy is an interesting case because, as always, there are a lot of questions surrounding Jeff. Did the WWE trust him? Did they know he had plans to leave, and if so did they know how soon? Were they planning on giving him a sustained title push, or were they going to use him as a placeholder until they could get the belt on Cena, Orton, Batista, or any other top name stars?

I'm not disagreeing that those two guys were hot at the time. What I'm saying is that the WWE has proved time and time again that they want to put the belts on the big names that they trust. Punk had four world title reigns before the WWE let him run with the belt or the year, and Hardy's three reigns combine for a length of 70 days. These guys weren't meant to be fixtures in the title scene in 2009.

I was considering writing a thread about performers who are better chasers than holders of the big titles; Rock was the main guy I had in mind for this but I couldn't think of the best way to get the topic rolling.

Just got back from seeing The Hobbit 2 with my dad. Very enjoyable movie that said, "Fuck it, nobody cares about the books, we're doing whatever the hell we want!" It had one of the most entertaining action sequences in the five Tolkien films and a smoking hot she-elf, but other than that there wasn't much to write home about. Still, a fun way to kill three hours when you're bored of football.

JGlass, I fucking hate your fantasy team...

Yeah, those guys are okay in my book. Nick Foles has been a miracle worker in the absence of Aaron Rodgers, and Seattle shutting out NY was huge. Also, who knew Greg Jennings was still playing football? I thought he was just observing from the WR position. Barring a Jimmy Graham 2nd half explosion (which I wouldn't rule out), I feel pretty good about wining this one.

Non-spam topic starting is a chore. Just go into the Wrestling Spam Section and say you're making a list and start throwing names in.

So JGlass beat me for the 3rd time this season, & as a result knocked me out of the playoffs, & now I see Yaz is on the verge of defeat as well... WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING?!?!? The two most dominant teams throughout the season, both knocked out in the first round:disappointed:

I think you should change your username to JGlass' Bitch because when it comes to fantasy football, I own you.

Or you could just sulk in the loser's corner with Yaz.

I thought for sure Brees would lay a fucking egg in this one and cost me the game, alas, he came through... along with Desean Jackson, Julian Edelman (who was a FREE AGENT for some reason when I picked him up), and Olson helping heal the blow left from Gronk.

55, 55. I repeat again, 55 points from Charles and I still lose.

Absurd. Just an absurd amount of production from him. If I have the top pick in any draft next year, I'm taking him. Andre Johnson ended up costing you though, Yaz.

Yeah, your team had a great day; it's just that Lariat's team had an INSANELY great day.

Actually, other than D Jax going bananas, it's par for the course for me. I'm used to having crazy things happen to me, like Brees laying an egg in gimme games and Gronk or Fitzgerald being hurt.

And I assume it's me and you in the finals?

Indeed. And oddly enough, I think we may be squaring off with each other in fantasy basketball next week as well. If only the Lariat/JGlass rivalry was where it was at earlier this year, this would be one electrifying week.

It really would...

Foles worries me. A lot. Besides that, I'm confident. Amendola or Crabtree will take Fitzgerald's spot if he can't go. I've had a fit at WR all season, and besides Fitz and Jackson, can't seem to find a consistent producer.

But with Brees playing the Panthers next week, Foles might win you the whole thing. Ironically, he cost me a game because of his anemic game where he was concussed and managed, like 3 completions or some shit.

I will say that I'm not all that confident going into our matchup, but I wasn't very confident going into my game with Justin, and that turned out just fine.

I need 27 from Megatron.

A lot to ask, but def not unspeakable for him.

27 is a hell of a hefty task. Wouldn't that be over 100 yards and at least two TDs? Like you said, it's not out of the question with the Lions going up an unspectacular Ravens defense, but it would still require him to have a huge day, even for his standards.

Yea. 5 - 8 rec, 100 - 150, and 1 or 2 scores.

Closer to his average than you would think.

Well it looks like me & Yaz are gonna meet in the playoffs after all expect it will be in the turd place match-up instead of the championship, I'm bummed. :(

On the losers bracket side of things, I had a great week to beat Habs, if only I could've had a great week earlier in the season so I could have made the playoffs. I think me and Theo will be facing off for 5th place next week, not sure.

In my league (ZIFFLE), I'm this close to making it to the championship. The ZIFFLE Bowl is a place I've never been too and damn it I want it so bad. I just need 7.82 points from Justin Tucker. It will likely end it heartbreak (as always) and I'll be stuck in the 3rd place game. As we go into our 6th season I've never won the Golden Pin. My brother has won two, cousin once, sister once, and our Taco won last season. It's a rough life as commissioner.

1. ZIFFLE? Is that an acronym? What's it for?
2. Justin Tucker got that and then some, because Justin Tucker is Justin Fucking Tucker.
3. a taco won a fantasy championship? I'm confused.

1. It is an acronym. Zionsville (thats where I was living) International Fantasy Football League Extravaganza. Stupid, but I wanted to be way different.

2. I'd pee in Justin Tucker's butt.

3. Taco is a character from the TV show The League. He knows nothing about football, but is in the league. We have a friend who knows jack shit about sports, but he wanted in. Last year was his first year and he won. Made the playoffs this year as well.

Well so much for hoping on getting the new job at my company. Since they hired 2 more guys off that department for supervisor roles, there are 4 spots open. I got told that they're concerned about trying to get 4 people in house trained and up to speed so they want to post the job outside and see if they can find people experienced in that line of work right away. Which means I'm basically fucked since the job is a pretty desirable position in my industry.

Oh and that's just for the two current spots. Even though I've already submitted my information, I have to submit all my stuff again for the other 2 openings that just came up. Just frustrating that they won't reward dedication and the work the 3 of us in my dept. that have put in already and now having to get stuck in going through the process all over again.
