Gamers unite -HQ

So I stumbled upon a game that isn't getting much love but looks fucking awesome that's coming out in June.

The Technomancer:

Cyberpunk Post Apocalyptic Group RPG? I'm fucking in.

Just had a pretty gnarly game with Roadhog. Think I went something like 24-4 with him.

Question for you folks: Are there any characters that you respect more or less than other characters? I ask because someone said something about being ashamed that they had to use Bastion, which I get because he's a pretty easy character to use, but I also feel like the game is so situational that there's really no good reason NOT to use Bastion if the situation calls for it. I mean, if the enemy wants to keep walking into chokepoints or spam 3 Reinhardts, then why not punish them for it?

Bastion is a great check for the game that requires a team to win via objective, not six solo guys winning via most kills. He punishes people for not learning the map and switching characters; he punishes new and ignorant players, which can suck, especially if you're new and getting wrecked by a Bastion turret. However, his and Torbjörn constant POTG are slightly infuriating. I've had games where our Genji ruins the other team, but because Bastion got his kills in quick succession (and less than Genji), he gets awarded the POTG.

Side Note: I find Blizzard taking down all Overwatch porn ironic, considering it was the fans who begged for Tracer not to be sexualised in that pose scandal, but Blizzard did it anyway... yet, now Blizzard are angry at fans making Overwatch porn, but the fans have found many ways to work around the issue to continue making porn.

It's funny what a difference a few days make. When I first started playing I thought Widowmaker, Mercy, and Reinhardt were going to be my best characters and how I thought I needed to mess around with Genji and Roadhog.

Now Genji and Roadhog are without a doubt my best two characters. I still like Reinhardt, but he's much more situational, and I'll rock Zenyatta if the team doesn't have anyone playing support. I never use Mercy anymore, and Widowmaker is a rarity that I'll only use if we desperately need a sniper.

Funny you mention that, I had a GREAT game as Genji yesterday including a few moments that were definitely POTG worthy, but that honor went to a Trobjorn that was busy running away from an attacker as his turret racked up four kills.

It is somewhat frustrating when the play of the game goes to a Bastion in sentry mode, a Trobjorn whose turret did all the work, or a Hanzo who happened to call his dragons in at the right moment (is it just me, or is his special WAY better than anyone else's?)

Who are your preferred characters, Falk?

By time I can Xbox privileges I'm gonna need to know which game I should invest my time into first, Overwatch, Doom, that swanky new GTA V update, or Division.

I've not played The Division but I've heard... mixed things.

Doom is my favourite game since, well, Metal Gear Solid V, but it really is wonderful. How it actually seems set to push the FPS genre forward by regressing to the era when they were more complex and elegant is something to see.

And Overwatch is apparently a very well made class-based shooter, albeit one I have too big of a backlog to give a decent look.

I think those two could scratch two distinct itches.

The Division is the type of game that if you get really into it you can definitely just keep playing the same missions over and over again and keep upgrading your gear and playing with/against players who do the same thing and live in that happy little community. But you better be willing to dedicate at least a couple hours everyday to that game to keep up, because if not, you're going to get left behind.

Ain't nobody got time for that.

Doom does look great. Gonna sell some games back to Gamestop, cash in some of those reward points I've been banking, and wait for a price drop before I get it. Looks like a game that I'll thoroughly enjoy playing through and beating but probably won't play again after.

Overwatch is great, worth getting once it's obtainable for you.

Well once my roommate gets back from the barracks I should have an Xbox and a TV with a copy of Overwatch. What characters should I start with to get adjusted to this game, and what should I expect from the multiplayer?

Not yet. What's it like?

As good as Awakening. I chose Conquest and it's tough but I'm involved enough to want to get Revelations when it's out.

(I'd suggest getting the DLC if you choose the same path. Boo Camp especially)

It's only multiplayer, so there's that. It's good though, I'd say I have more good, close matches than bad ones where one side blows the other one out.

As for which characters to start with... it depends on play style. There are four different classes and you should try to get good with at least one from each so you can fill any role your team may need. Some characters that are fairly easy to learn are Roadhog, Mercy, Soldier 76, Bastion, Torbjorn, and Reinhardt, but I'd recommend messing around with all the characters until you find guys you like.

As it turns out, my favorite hands down is either D.VA or Tracer. There's just something rewarding when you thrust into a team's position with D.VA and kicking their medic out, then detonating yourself.

If any of you play as Bastion then I hope you're all aware that your parents are probably incredibly disappointed by you.

Earlier today I played a match where we defending the payload. It was a great match and we won, but we had two Bastions on our team.

I didn't feel as good about that one as I normally would have.

But hey, I had a sick game as Roadhog and won the prestige vote at the end.
