New Pokemon games have been announced:

Can't wait for the NXT version that would accompany those. :p

Do Pokemon games still come in generations of 3? Last one I played was Diamond so I'm almost a decade behind.

Black/White and X/Y were just two despite there being an XYZ series.

I started on Noveria my first time playing Mass Effect too. Prepare for one of the hardest boss fights of your life that would have been immensely easier had you started on literally any other planet.

But you'll get through it.

Were you talking about Benezia and her asari/geth troopers?

After a couple of very quick deaths at the hands of the initial asari commandos and Benzia's long range biotic attacks, I managed to get through it okay once I realised that shooting at Benezia was not what was needed and and changed out my ammo.

I've now moved on to Feros to deal with a few more Geth en route to finding Benezia's daughter.

I used Super Mario 3D World to try to teach my girlfriend how to navigate a 3D environment (she'd not been allowed to play videogames growing up and so has no instincts). Mixed results.

It's the best game to teach someone that. Galaxy's a bit too much but both 3D Land and World have the 2D/3D bits.

I think she'd have found it easier if I hadn't been playing at the same time (she insisted). It can get a bit disorientating when the camera's trying to follow two players at once.

Uh, to say the fucking least.

My wife dies at LEAST twice per level by simply walking right off the edge of the playing environment, or jumping off of it accidentally.

It is a very unforgiving camera at times, but generally.....Yea, does not speak well to the depth perception of females.

Ah, I've been playing videogames since I developed dexterity; all she'd played up until then was stuff like The Sims and Civilisation. Unsurprisingly, she's much better at organisation and management than I am.

I'm going to try to get her to play Portal 2 at some point.

Mine played a shit ton of WOW and Call of Duty in her late teens and 20s.

Ive been playing everything besides MMOs since I was about six.

It was a surprising journey.

For everyone reading this though, I would highly recommend Mario 3d world on Wii U if you are into that sort of thing. Wildly fun at times, maddeningly frustrating at others.

Have you got Mario Maker? When I was with my GF she loved seeing what levels I could come up with to see if she could beat them and vice versa.

My wife actually got me Wii U, Mario Maker, and Mario Kart for my birthday (self serving, clearly) but I just haven't had time to sit down and properly fuck around with Mario Maker.

I talked about the game(Mario maker) all the time before she got it all for me, which is why she went to get it in the first place :lmao:

Nice, I very much enjoy Mario Maker. It's quite easy to get into making the levels once you start.

Yeah, that's the one. Good on you for figuring out a working strategy faster than I did. I must have had to do that mission 20 times before beating her. In hindsight it's probably not that hard a boss fight without a properly leveled character, but it's definitely challenging. Benezia's bionic attacks that can float you around can really fuck with you, and the Asari Commandos that she keeps pumping in are also huge pains in the ass. If you get stuck in the wrong place once, you're probably fucked.

You'll be there longer than you think, lulz.

I'm pretty sure the intended order (I mean, it's really up to you and makes very little difference which order you visit the planets in) are Therum (the one where you find Benezia's daughter), Noveria, and then Feros. Feros also has a pretty tough boss battle, but it more has to do with numbers than skilled combatants.

Here's a question: Did you decide to save the Rachni queen or kill her?

You're a bunch of nerds but a new Mass Effect game would sure go down a treat.

For you. I don't play anything but The Phantom Pain these days.

Better also give her the 101 on big circular rooms with save points outside them just to be safe.

We should have this thread as a forum game or something, "video game design things that set off your spider sense".

I'd start with "party member who is strangely overpowered compared to everyone else at level 1 is probably not sticking around".

I was expecting much more of a Geth attack upon escaping Exogeni other than two blockades that could be taken out from very long range by the Mako cannon.

My natural caution even in first person shooters helped me greatly in the battle against the Thorian and its zombie/clone horde. Shredder ammo in my shotgun and retreating to choke points made it rather straightforward.

I think if you were one to charge head-long up stairs and corridors, you could have made that battle far harder.

Away to find Benezia's daughter next.

God of War: Ascension just came today and I was wondering if anyone else has played it before.

I've never heard of it until I saw it on their website and put it in my Q.

Lee I know you're a true Ninty boy. You getting the new Fire Emblem?

As a massive Emblemfag myself, it's an instant preorder for me. I can do without the idol singy game though, it's so not FE to me.

SNES classics on New 3DS looks nice, might actually give Earthbound a go.
