Just stormed through the Battle of the Citadel. Everything from the stealing of the Normandy to the end seemed a little rushed, but then this is the first game.

Killing Husk Saren with a point blank blast from my trusty shotgun was satisfying.

Ilos is a pretty fun mission before. That drive to the beacon is intense.

Aside from Saren, Garrus and the dick councilor (the councilors don't do much for their respective races at the beginning at all), there is not all that much interaction with Turians in ME1, or at least the way I played it anyway.

You'll get to know many more as time goes on.

The Geth are a blatant rip off of the Borg. And nowhere near as good.

Ehhhh wait to pass judgement until you get to know them a little better in the next game.

I think the death of the Thorian was a bit of a missed opportunity. A sentient plant capable of creating clones was an interesting idea. As are the Hanar; something different in a universe of bipeds.

Don't forget about the Elcor (quadrupeds). I'm glad that they made a few alien species that aren't humanoid in terms of bodyshape. In the Mass Effect Universe there's actually a film series similar to James Bond called Blasto featuring a Hanar as the titular Blasto.

I was thinking about where were the bodies of the Prothean scientists sent through the Conduit. Then it made me smile at the likelihood that the keepers simply cleaned them away.

You might be able to gather a pretty good picture of what they looked like after Mass Effect 2. You'll definitely get a good feel for what they look like in Mass Effect 3. Probably.

The headlong stampede into the Conduit was a nice touch.

There were some comments by Tali suggesting that there is plenty of scope for development with the Geth as they evolve.

Wanted to see more from the Elcor.

Sounds like a hoot.

I hope he has a permit for all that preaching he'll be doing about the Enkindlers

It's 2016 and you still need fucking HMs to progress in a Pokemon game. Lee will share my pain if nobody else will. Fortunately, Hawlucha can learn Fly, Strength, Cut and Rock Smash. He is a worthy HM slave. Still, having to drag around one party member's worth of dead weight through the path to the Elite Four is just stupid.

Especially the newer ones with Waterfall etc. that you use two or three times.

At least the move deleter comes in handy which does not exist in Blue.

HMs are annoying as fucking shit.

At least they got rid of fucking Flash. The rest of the HMs, except for Cut, are at least somewhat acceptable for use in battles.

Waterfall and Surf are the only ones that are actually good moves that need to stay at least as TMs.

If Fly wasn't 2-turn it'd actually be alright.

If they just merged Cut and Slash into one better move, it would be good. Still it would need to beat out Return to be worth something.

I'm also on the anti-IV side these days. Bred loads of the fudgers and have 50 wins in every mode of the Battle Maison, but IVs add almost nothing any more.

Been playing Watcher 3 the last few days, despite the fact that I keep finding the most stupid of ways to die, it is an incredibly addictive & fun game, & I really wish I had at least the rest of the week off to play it. Awesome fucking game!

Hit up me and J Glass for deeply involved Witcher 3 nerdiness. That game has impacted my life in an overwhelming manner.

Were are you at in it?

I'm suppose to be looking for the Blood Baron's family but I keep getting sidetracked with falling to my death off roofs & down caves, lol.

That's like the one major complaint is he can fall like five feet and die :lmao:

You are getting close to one of my fave five moments of the game, when you find his wife.

Yeah what would you need to crouch or crawl for in Witcher 3?

I didn't have too many problems with falling to my death, mostly because you can slide down the sides of mountains and shit like you're snowboarding, but without the board.

You been checking out the message boards in cities and near pubs, Justin? That's how you find most monster contracts, which for my money are the best part of the game. Nothing quite like tracking and killing a monster. After all, that's what Witchers were made for.

Interesting start to ME2 - a good way to start over, plus the added moral dilemma of working with Cerberus. A bit weird (or suspicious) that parts of the new Normandy are off limits to its captain...

Neither Joker nor Garrus seemed overly surprised that Shepard was alive again. They both had prior knowledge but still for a guy who seemingly inspired such loyalty, his reception is underwhelming.

Underwhelmed by the squad I have so far. Miranda is interesting but Zaedd and Jacob are nothing and while the fight to save him from the mercenaries on Omega was really good, Garrus does nothing for me. Plenty of room for improvement.

A natural progression with the story if the Collectors are indeed working for the Reapers.

They become unlocked once you have the proper crew member to occupy that area. For instance, once you get Mordin (the professor), the lab will be open.

I suppose, but this never really occurred to me. Joker especially isn't one for showing emotion beyond freaking out (which I'm sure he did when Cerberus told him Shepard was alive and showed him proof), and Garrus is too cool for that shit. Maybe there will be other characters who are shocked to see him.

Miranda gets a lot of heat for seemingly being the, "hot bitch," stereotype, but I absolutely loathe that assessment of her. She's a very interesting character that shows the most growth of any squadmate throughout the series besides Wrex, and maybe two others that I'm not going to say because spoilers. Not only that, but she's not really a bitch, just an authoritative female figure that expects the respect that she's earned.

Zaeed and Jacob are indeed pretty boring characters, especially Zaeed. Jacob is your typical career soldier archetype, so he's there if you're into that. Unfortunately, I don't find that many people are into that, especially when the game offers several much more interesting characters.

I go back and forth on Garrus. He has a certain cool factor, and his character is definitely better defined in ME2 and 3. That said, he's fairly vanilla compared to many of the other crew members you come across, and much of the fandom surrounding him within the Mass Effect community comes from a running joke about how he's always doing calibrations.

Since you started on Omega, you're going to be meeting Mordin next, and he's an absolute trip, one of the best characters in the game if you ask me. The Warlord is a good next stop, as that provides one of the more interesting concept characters (and no team is complete without a Krogan, amirite?). The Convict is also a good character, but I'll let you figure that out.

Exciting stuff, right?

I understand that from a progress side of things but it does stick out that Shepard is barred from parts of his own ship. Surprised that he does not take that up with Miranda or EDI.

I think she certainly seems to start as a "cocky hot bitch" but when she explains the reasons behind it and the likes of Jacob infer that she is every bit as good as her demeanour, then it changes from "cocky" to "realistic." She also tells Shepard that she is still capable of mistakes despite the upgrades, although I detected what seemed like a little bit of disappointment in that self-assessment. Will be interesting to see where she goes.

Jacob's character is a basically a copy of my Shepard so I really have no need of him. I suppose you might be able to argue that Zaeed and Jacob might represent the potential extremes of Shepard - renegade bounty hunter or conscience laden do-gooder.

He is certainly more entertaining so far in ME2. More banter with Shepard but I think that that will be the extent of my interaction with him as I never use him as a squad member.

Those three code names had me interested from the start. About to enter the quarantine in search of the Professor.

Need Krogan too.

So just got mauled to death by bear while looking for the Peller's fucking goat...:icon_neutral:

Yea that fucker kinda comes outta nowere don't he :lmao:

I remember using my Witcher Senses and seeing him before he saw me and being like damn, that could have sucked :lmao:

That goat is very important to the Peller. Be nice to it.

A mission that was shat upon in every review but that I found oddly enjoyable

The Cerberus cover girl and the AI they created? As if they'd be much help!

An apt assessment. Miranda is a-okay with me.

Not for nothing, but I think a lot of the hate Miranda gets comes from nerds who don't want assertive women getting in the way of women that know their place: behind the male lead and his likely nerdy best friend.

I guess. It should be worth noting that Zaeed was a DLC character and therefore far less fleshed out than every other teammate with the exception of the other DLC character: Kassumi.

He is certainly more entertaining so far in ME2. More banter with Shepard but I think that that will be the extent of my interaction with him as I never use him as a squad member.

He's very useful as a squad mate if you aren't a Soldier or Infiltrator class. However, as a soldier, you're better off taking some biotics with you.

Your needs will be met, sir.

So I bought the heavy rain/ beyond two souls remastered combo. I havent played them previously. I've finished heavy rain, or rather i've reached one set of endings. But how does replaying chapters work? I want to fix certain decisions that I fucked up but dont want to have to completely replay the whole game. It doesnt seem to work just pick and choosing which chapters i choose to redo, even though the chapters i'm skipping over have no impact on the new timeline i've created.

Still shouldn't stop Shepard to bring it up.

His personal grudge with Vido could be interesting.

My current choices for a landing party are Miranda, Jack and a certain newborn Krogan.

Ah, Grunt. A worthy successor to Wrex.

I thought that the conversations with Jack and Grunt in convincing them to join were a little strange. The suddenness of their change from combative to acquiescence made me think Shepard had developed Jedi mind tricks.

Mordin is amusing. Will be nice to have Tali back too. There is plenty of potential in the Flotilla and their links to the Geth.

Had a bit of fun with my sniper rifle against consecutive "bosses" - both the Warden and Jedore never laid eyes on me. I think my favourite weapon though is my hand cannon.

Wasn't overly impressed with the new levels of the Citadel.
