I watched Channel 4's show on the 25 most influential games. It's a fucking joke, they use Shadow of the Colossus as their prime example of morality systems. And apparently Braid and Last of Us are more worthy of being in a top 25 than any Zelda or Metroid, Super Mario 64, Pokemon, Goldeneye, Wolfenstein, Metal Gear Solid, any Mass Effect or Bioshock.

It wasn't influential games and it wasn't a top 25, it was games that had changed the world. Doom destroys Goldeneye for importance, as does Super Mario Bros for Mario 64 etc. I thought it was actually a brilliant 2 hours, although it really took until the last few minutes to get its point across.

I dislike how they called you the villain in Shadow of the Colossus when you were duped into killing the Colossi by Dormin and you were simply acting out to save your girlfriend's life. Dormin is the one that put Wander to the task, not Wander himself, and he still feels a lot of regret for his actions.

Still the bad guy though and you realise that as the game goes on. It really is an amazingly clever game. What starts off as "Wow I just killed this awesome creature" slowly turns into "Shit! I just killed this awesome creature."

I can see that, but I don't think it's fair to call Wander the "big bad" per say. You definitely feel a lot of repentance for your actions, but had Wander not been acting out to save his girlfriend, he probably wouldn't have been killing the Colossi.

Dormin on the other hand, rather than simply betray Wander and be done with it, actually betrays Wander and keeps his end of the bargain. He turns Wander into a newborn and revives his girlfriend, bringing the two back together, but as mother and son as opposed to lovers. That's your big bad right there.

But yeah, it's a testament to this game's legacy that it's promoting discussion like this.

Uh, what's the difference between influencing and changing? If you influence someone, positively or negatively, it means that you change the way they act or think.

Why couldn't they have Mario Bros. and Mario 64? Mario 64 basically showed every other developer in the world how to make a great 3D game. Pretty 'world changing.'

And Goldeneye created the entire template for multiplayer FPS gaming. Since multiplayer is the entire reason people play FPS games, I'd say that's pretty world changing too.

Unfortunately, Last of Us will win GOTY, only GTA stands a chance to be brutally honest.
I've only played X and Y, but Fire Emblem has had some extraordinary reviews, so I'll go with that.
Super Mario 3D Land should win the best Nintendo game, the others are somewhat underwhelming.
I see Zelda winning the handheld competition, maybe Pokemon.
Have no idea about casual game, Disney Infinity I guess?

I'm clinging to the hope that Bioshock Infinite wins GotY, because I'm really not a fan of the Last of Us and GTA V is too obvious.

Zelda for Nintendo and handheld GotY. It's pretty awesome.

Also, I love Joel Mchale.

Not sure how I feel about Quantum Break. Alan Wake and Max Payne were kinda disappointing considering the hype surrounding them.

McHale's a fucking knob. There's no way I can cope with 3 hours of this dudebro.

He's not in the running. It's Trevor, Lara, the Lutece twins and the Brother: A Tale of Two Sons.

No Elizabeth means that award is a joke.

Luigi should have been nominated in this, the year of Luigi.
