Gamers unite -HQ

I will never stop believing that Bioshock Infinite is the best game to come out this year. I will debate about it till I die.

The game I've played the most is Animal Crossing. That, Pokemon and Last of Us are the only games to keep my attention.

I've been playing Killer 7. It is one confusing, strange game. But I can't stop playing it.

Uh, what's the difference between influencing and changing? If you influence someone, positively or negatively, it means that you change the way they act or think.

Influence would suggest being important inside gaming, the title was games that influenced things outside gaming.

Why couldn't they have Mario Bros. and Mario 64? Mario 64 basically showed every other developer in the world how to make a great 3D game. Pretty 'world changing.'

Well firstly it's just rude to include more than 1 game from any series in such a limited list.
Secondly, Mario 64 doesn't even touch Mario Bros for existing outside gaming circles.
Thirdly, no. 3D games were around for at least 6 years previous and once again it's Doom that was really the launchpad.

And Goldeneye created the entire template for multiplayer FPS gaming. Since multiplayer is the entire reason people play FPS games, I'd say that's pretty world changing too.

What's the politest way of saying bullshit? Doom was multiplayer 3 years before Goldeneye existed.

If that were true, Pokemon would be in the top 5 and Braid would be nowhere.

I think it's rude to not mention games that deserve to be on the list.

I agree. But it's still a huge deal.

I didn't say that it was the first 3D game. But it wrote the rule book on third person 3D platformers. It was revolutionary. It's the reason 3D platformers were the most popular genre of the 90's. Where would Tomb Raider, Crash Bandicoot and Spyro be without it? I'd say that's pretty world changing.

Again, I didn't say it was the first. But not only is the Goldeneye multiplayer the template for every other FPS multiplayer mode since it came out, it's also the template for console FPS games in general.

Doom wasn't the first FPS of its kind, nor is it the best. It gets more recognition than it deserves.

Hotline Miami and Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed are both on sale on Steam. Two of my very favourite games. Hint hint.

Steam sale 6 days before Christmas, who's bright fucking idea was this?

Should have been after the new year.

I paid 600 bucks for the tower. Which was a first generation core i7 4GB of RAM upgradable to 16 2TB HDD and a GT 420 which pretty much sucked. That card was obsolete so with the discount I get at best buy I bought the GTX770 which I can now run any game on Ultra settings!

That's the thing about PC gamers I don't get: they treat graphics as the single most important thing when in reality, the pecking order is more:
1.gameplay
2.story
3.graphics

Crysis & Ryse is a testament to this, absolutely ground breaking graphics but the crappy gameplay and completely forgettable story makes it not worth buying.

Ryse for sure, but Crysis 2 had a pretty fun single player and good gameplay on top. So I don't think Crysis qualifies personally, or at least Crysis 2 as that's the only one I played.

We don't treat graphics as the single most important thing, but we can tout that performance and graphics wise the games you play on console play and look better on PC. Especially when we have a good amount of the same games released on consoles ported to PC, and of course we have the PC exclusive games too.

Now that consoles have finally woken up and moved to more standardized hardware, we're going to get ports that much faster, and cooperating that much more. So games on Xbox One and PS4 are going to be even better on PC's. Not only this but the industry is realizing the huge potential the PC gaming market has to offer, all they needed to do was look at the money Steam is raking in. Hell consoles want to move to a digital media distribution system as it is, a system that PC has already perfected. So if it takes them just a bit more to make it available on PC, that means another source of revenue coming in for the same game, on the same servers they're already using.

And yes for graphics cards it's imperative to have a good one. It improves performance just as much if not more than the graphics quality. With a higher quality video card you're talking about improved FPS and rendering just to name a couple of things that a new graphics card can improve. Right now my video card I have I spent $150 on, a video card mind you that I bought 2 years ago that still blows the Xbox One and PS4 out of the water. We've had the hardware capability for games on Xbox One and PS4 for years already, it's just that developers haven't had the technology with the older consoles to do so.

My PC isn't just gaming only mind you. It's my central hub for my entire network in my home, it ties in nicely to my home server, so spending money on my computer is more than just the gaming side of it. Putting in more RAM or putting in a new CPU means improved performance overall. Most PC gamers do not have a PC just for gaming, it's just an added bonus to the numerous activities that their PC can handle for them rather than having a standalone gaming console. Let's say you buy a PS4 for $400. Great. Now add a TV to that, another let's say $400 for a decent one. Now add a laptop so you can do your word processing , spreadsheets, Facebook and Twitter checking, so on and so on. We'll put the price at $500 for a somewhat good laptop.

So we're sitting at $1300 to do everything my PC can do on it's own. However I have 3 23" monitors, a TV Tuner so I can record TV shows if I want, 16 GB of RAM, 2.5 TB of hard drive space, an AMD octocore processor, AT Radeon HD 6850 1 GB video card, my 360 controller plugged in so I can game just like a console, everything I need to do word processing, Photoshop, backing up files from computers I work on, we'll throw in my flash drives and portable hard drives, my hard drive dock, headset, USB hubs, 5.1 surround sound system, Logitech G15 keyboard, and Razer Death Adder mouse and I don't think I've spent $1300 on it all together. That's high performance everything whereas you have a middle of the road TV, a laptop with likely a dual core i3 processor with 4 GB of RAM at best and a 500 GB hard drive.

So in reality we're not spending more than a console gamer would considering the console gamer needs to spend just as much to have all the capabilities a gaming PC can provide.

Before I'm called out for bias, let it be known I have a PS3, a Xbox 360, and a Gamecube. I'm pretty sure my wife bought me either a PS4 or an Xbox One for Christmas which I will use the hell out of whichever she got me. You can also take into consideration that my hobby and job are computers so upgrading my computer is considered a zen activity for me.
