I bought a Switch. Tesco was selling neons for £260 and I couldn't see myself getting myself a better deal this side of Mario Odyssey, for which I would have inevitably got one. Unfortunately, adding in a pro controller, Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, a screen protector, a carry case, and Sonic Mania, even with a discount on each, this is my most expensive console purchase in a while.

Meant to ask when you first posted this but care to exchange Switch friend codes? Assuming you'll be playing MK8D and Spla2n online.

Sure. I've no idea where such things are kept, nor why I can't, in 2017, just tell you my username, but I'd be happy to.

Splatoon is, well, almost exactly as good as the first but my habit of being comfortably the best player on a losing team is beginning to grate.

When the new online system rolls out in 2018, they're ditching the friend codes and going with the username system, so at least there's that.
Your friend code is found under your profile page, which you can get to in the top left corner of the home menu where your avatar/Mii is.
My friend code is SW-4559-5065-9402
For me, Splatoon is a new experience as I missed out on the first one on the Wii U.

Playing Assassins Creed Syndicate for Xbox One. (Picked it up for 9 bucks). Same Assassins Creed formula, good characters and an amazing map with good graphics. I can picture getting tired of this one though and eventually not picking it up to play it anymore.

Only one I liked was black flag, cuz I like pirates lol

At least that one had ship battles to break up the manotony. I'm waiting for a side quest where the assassin goes fishing or bowling so I don't have to slash/dodge/slash/headbutt/slash/slash/slash/slash/slash/slash/slash/slash/slash anymore.

Just watched a gameplay video for the Secret Of Mana remake. I can't wait. It looks amazing and this remake is WAY overdue.

AC Syndicate is good but they didnt flesh out the characters properly. They threw you straight in. That's why II is the best they gave you a reason to care about Ezio. Had the beginning of Syndicate been as good as II they would have had something great. The problem with the franchise as a whole is that after Ezio they lost the direction of the modern day story

You'll probably like Skull & Bones. Or Sea of Thieves. Or both.

Destiny 2 & Metroid: Samus Returns (for 3DS), are either of these games worth purchasing?

The answer to both, not to be cynical, might well be "Did you like the first Destiny/other Metroid games?"

I hated the first Destiny and ended up returning it. I got a deal on the second but fear it'll suffer a similar fate once I find the time to actually play it.

The one ruined by the "it was all supernatural beings" reveal.

I've always thought the overarching sci-fi wankery has ruined what could otherwise be entirely tolerable plots in Assassin's Creed.

Same here.

The whole genetic memory, modern day framing story really did not need to be there at all.

Assassins vs Templars through the ages would have been more than fine. There is plenty of story to be had even before inventing conflict between the two orders.

Destiny 2 - A much more polished streamlined version of Destiny. I've enjoyed it immensely the past couple weeks.

Metroid: Samus Returns - What time I've put into it I've enjoyed it. Metroid II was the first Metroid game I ever played and I've cleared it more times then I can count, so nostalgia factors big into my enjoyment of the game. I think it's an excellent remake.

I spoke with Falk about it a bit, but how is the grind in Destiny this go round? I want to jump in but I'm a bit afraid to drop sixty dollars and hit that wall I hit last time when it got really repetitive.

Not all that bad. I hit level 20 waaaaaay before I finished the campaign and got to power level 240 without scratching much of the surface of all the content. I haven't done a strike or a raid yet just all solo work and public events. I only have 19 hours of play time to give you an idea.

So gonna have to download the final fantasy 9 rerelease, really hope this means ff8 will eventually show up. It's a flawed game, but fuck I love that game

That’s good to hear. When I pick it up I’ll give you a shout.

Purchased Rocksmith Remastered for Xbox One after getting an electric guitar for my birthday. Pretty helpful for a new guitarist. You just plug the guitar in a special plug that comes with the game and away you go. It'll be a long time before I learn to play actual rock songs. Game has all the tools you could hope for. Even has a session mode if you want to create your own riffs and songs. I figure by 2020 I should be able to rip out a few of these tunes at least.

Has anyone noticed the Playstation store has overall better deals than the Xbox store?

Granted I'm still using my PS3 and 360 but I overall get more deals on the Playstation store like games with all the DLC for a nice price (The Last Of Us, Bioshock Infinite) whereas the Xbox store I'd have to buy the DLC separate

Put in 4 or 5 hours in Shadow of War today. It's the great gameplay of Mordor but improved in every single way. However, the cutscenes (while skippable) kinda bug me, especially when my Talion in game is wearing one thing and in the cutscene he's wearing the start game armor. I also hate micro transactions, but I can overlook that, though from what I hear the end game requires such a grind that it can be tedious, hence the loot crate system.

NHL 18 - PS4

I play EASHL drop in games 99% of the time. The gameplay has been tweaked a little and it seems even smoother than 17 did, especially for defenseman like me.

Now for the shopping cart full of negatives.. .

1- TIME WARP GLITCHES! Really EA Sports?! Really?! You can't port one fucking NHL game that doesn't have terrible bugs all over it? How about testing it a little longer for once? Time Warp Glitches is NHL14 bullshit. You score a score on the other team, screen flicks to center ice for a new face off like nothing just happened, goal doesn't count. Same thing with fights. Get into a fight and the screen flicks to center ice with the fight controls frozen on your screen.

2- Copy and paste commentary - Inexcusable , exact same lines muttered from 17 in every situation.

3- Copy n Paste crowds/ cutscenes. All the exact same as 17.

4- Copy n Paste everything else. Barely anything has changed except some in game mechanics.

5- Minor but noticeable glitch, player gets stuck on the glass/boards and just stands there staring at nothing after getting called for a penalty or whatnot.

6- A little sloppier collision detection on some parts of the boards. It didn't seem that bad before.

7- Sideways pass bug is still there for whatever reason. Looking for a smooth diagonal pass up to your winger to break out of your zone? Nope! Sideways pass right off the boards. Same problem that plagued NHL 17 passing.

8- Some dumb defensive A.I exploits that seem to work every attempt. Played many a game with an A.I defensive line mate, cringe when I see forwards deke/dangle protect to get around them on every attempt. Its not half as bad as older entries, but the exploit is there.

9- Goal glitch exploits. Only noticed one or two that are still in the game. One that hasn't been fixed in god knows how long: skate across the crease right in front of goalie after coming out of the corner, score far side. Its been there since NHL '93. I'm not joking.

That's what I noticed 10 games in. Hopefully EA will announce a patch coming to fix this shit. Bit I highly doubt it.
