Favorite Guest Host

The Dragon Saga

Whale in a Teardrop
Someone said in the Shaq thread that Shaquile was their favorite guest host for the fact that he was an athlete and because he was entertaining. So it posses the question, who was everyone elses favorite Monday Night Raw Guest Host.

For me it was Jeremy Piven. For one I'm a mark for his work as Ari Gold on Entourage, I do think it is one of the funniest characters in television right now, and at a stretch in history. He also brought along a great personality for the show, he did well in his comedy routines with actor Ken Jeong from the Hangover series and Community. One of my main reasons though, is the fact that Piven is one of the only celebrity guest hosts to both get actually physical; not just with anyone, but with John Cena, attempting a Crossbosy from the top rope and he turned heel on the night. The most memorable moment is probably this, the Crossbody and Jeong getting thrown over the top rope...

Whose your favorite Guest Host from Monday Night Raw and why?

Long time reader of WZ, first time poster... figured it was time...

Quick history about myself: when i moved from the East Coast to the WC in '99, i stopped watching wrestling until I heard The Rock was coming back... it piqued my interest and the floodgates once again opened, and here I am.

I consider myself just a little above a casual fan, and as such, to make up lost time, i've been trying desperately to catch up on all the action i've lost in over ten years... quite the impossible task!

I've mentioned all this because one, i wanted to introduce myself and two, I never knew the above video existed... looks like Ken and Jeremy did a decent job, and the crowd was into it as well... that's when you know you've got a decent guest host. I also agree that it's a good thing when the GH's get involved physically as well.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention TDS.

I personally enjoyed seeing Ced. the Entertainer on Raw. I mean, because i grew up listening to his comedy, and to see one of my favorite comedians on my favorite show was special. Plus he did a bit with the Bella twins, and even had a match! Now if they can only get Kevin Hart up there. . . lol

I think that my favorite Guest Host was William Shattner. He was pretty damn funny with his promo for singing wrestlers Theme songs. I just thought it was pretty funny and he's just a legend all in all.

For me it would be Bob Barker. I remember watching him on Price is Right when I was younger, and it kinda brought me back to those days. The segments were stupid, but the one with Jericho was really funny.

Definately Pee Wee Herman. In an alternate universe, Pee Wee would make a great on-air wrestling authority figure. I've thought that ever since 2002 when I read a fan fiction wrestling league and Pee Wee Herman was the General Manager. I never mind seeing him on my TV.

My favorite has to be Shaq as well. His encounters with Jericho and the Big Show were really entertaining and he was just a fun time on RAW the whole time. Plus he looked like he had a great time there too.

I would have to be a traditionalist and say me favorite guest host would be Trish Stratus. I just don't like non-wrestlers acting like they know how things work, behind the scenes. Trish has been there before and everyone respects her for that.

I'd have to agree to shaq as well. For one, he is a star athlete and therefore his participation also lends everything a sense of legitimacy. For another he took his role in the show on 100% seriously while also maintaining his sense of humor.
I've never liked shaq as a player (and I am quite the avid NBA fan) but his personality is another story. He's in touch, funny, and willing to poke fun at himself.

For another thing, he obviously enjoyed being there. The OP brought up Jemery Piven as a classic guest host, but I couldn't disagree more. Shaq was/is a natural fan of the product and its obvious his NBA interviews have a certain percentage of WWE influence. He didn't, for instance, screw up any names of wrestlers or events.

Piven referred to Summerslam as "The Summerfest" (which DX mocked to no end) making it obvious that he hadn't watched a day of WWE programming in his life. If that's the sign of an ideal guest host, shoot me in the face and leave me for the wolves.

Lastly, Shaq, even today, would make an ideal WWE superstar. The guy made his career in a sport which requires, at minimum, a high level of conditioning. His size implies he'd work a style that wouldn't require taxing highspots or reckless risk-taking, like the great Khali, only competent and willing to learn.

The only better hosts than shaq were ex-wrestlers, and those guys should be placed into a special category due to their natural appeal at the position.

Gus from Psych aka Dule Hill was easily my favorite, his scenes with John Cena and Alicia fox were freakin hilarious... The only major bummer was James Roday getting an appendectomy that day or else he would have been there too and all you would be considering them as your fav if you haven't already. One thing I especially liked Dule and a reason why I wished Roday was on it was because they are wrestling fans in real life and it comes across on the camera that way as well. There was nothing more I couldn't stand at the time of the guest hosts then guys in there to get a cheap plug or a quick pay day but who had no idea who the talent were or what exactly they do, it was despicable. There are so many celebs who are known wrestling fans yet WWE went with some stupid gimmick plugs etc. I hated that! I always said Method Man should have been a guest host as I think he would have been funny and again it would show that he was a fan. That's why Dule was my fav, he was funny and clearly a fan.

For myself and this is biased but for me it was Bob Barker.

I have always been a Bob Barker fan but the ovation he got when he came out was one of the loudest pops I have ever heard, apparently there are a lot of Bob lovers out there besides me.

Not only that no one can host a show like Bob Barker, there is a reason why the Price is Right was voted the best game show in history. Outside of the fact the show was (and still is) fun to watch what really complimented the show was the masterful hosting job that Barker produced day in and day out, the show isn't nearly as good with Drew Carey as it was with Bob Barker. He is in my opinion the greatest game show host in history and he did it so good for so long. There is this certain aura that Bob possesses that no one before or since has been able to duplicate.

Even though some of the skits were silly (which aren't his fault) he owned the camera when he was on it, even more than Jericho and DX when he was doing the skits with them, and its always nice to see Bob take out Chavo in like 3 seconds.

Others like Shaq did a fantastic job, but they can't measure up to the man who was the absolute best at hosting a show there ever was.

Bob Barker is the best.
