Edge getting injured the best thing that could happen to WWE?

To start off i just want to say that personally i was gutted when edge got injured, he always has been and always be one of my favourite wrestlers, and when it was announced that he would be out for a long time i thought to myself that it was all downhill for Smackdown and the E from here.

But looking back i think i couldnt of been more wrong, with the injury to Edge it has given Big Show another chance with which he is florishing, Y2J is getting brilliant heat and mic time and is a far better performer than his partner in the ring so therfore gets the attention from the fans. Theres one less main eventer so the E is having to push the midcarders to make up for the gaps, and you have to admit that you were getting a little bored with edge as a heel and even as a wrestler, i mean 9 world championships in 3 years??? ARE YOU SERIOUS! if anything that just proves we need new talent!

Anyway i rambling on....the question which im asking is whether you, the general public, believe that edges injury has been a brilliant thing for the WWE or was it the worst thing that could of happened.

P.S. I'd also like to throw in the fact that there will obviously be an edge vs jericho feud, but to make it even better it will probably happen around RR-WM time......Edge has timed his injury brilliantly! haha:lmao:

Well for one, I wouldn't say Edge's injury couldn't happen at a better time. That would be wrong. But I do understand where you are going with this. Edge's injury opened a few door's. The Big Show is credible again as Jericho's tag team championship partner after being Cena's chew toy for 4 month's. And the lack of a main event heel on Smackdown opened the door for CM Punk. But as for the Jericho/Edge feud, it was being planned already. Edge needed to change thing's up after 4 years as the Ultimate Opportunist and this was the ticket.

Edge's unfortunate injury did open door's. But one has to wonder if he was still here. He would probably be pushing talent on Smackdown like Morrison while also holding the Tag Team Championships right now, rather than chasing the World Title.

It's interesting to note and, in a quasi-Machiavellian kind of way, I agree in general that the top talent getting injured is a good thing to help bring some guys up, mix things up, and resultantly freshen up the program. Jericho's great heel run was made possible by Orton's collarbone injury. Jeff Hardy and CM Punk both made good on Edge's injury.

Smackdown right now is so much better than Raw because Edge was there go-to guy for the longest time and with him out they had no alternative but to start pushing new guys and now Ziggler and Morrison are getting good pushes to take the upper midcard spots left by Hardy and Punk. Alternatively, the only thing fresh about Raw is their revolving door of guest hosts and Jericho, who's a Smackdown wrestler anyway. Besides that, Raw is still the HHH-Cena-Orton show and any momentum Miz or Swagger or even MVP (who, I'll admit, I really thought he'd be a little closer to the main event picture by now, not in a silly redsuit tag team with Henry) can get will be consistently overshadowed by those "pillars of the business" until one of them gets injured again. I'm not ashamed to admit that I guiltlessly look forward to the next time one of them is injured and I'm sorry if that offends anyone.

IMO, this was a good thing for the WWE as everyone has stated because (a) it gives various talent more opportunities that wouldn't have been there and (b) it gives fans a chance to somewhat forget about Edge. Everyone likes a comeback no matter who it is, because it gives that person a chance to come back differently. Take the case of HHH in 2001. He was one of the top heels in the company when he tore is quad, then he came back to challenge Jericho (which is somewhat odd that this is happening to Jericho again it seems lol), as a face.
No matter how much Edge hated the crowd, he'll get a huge pop when he comes back, which again, as previously stated, has and will continue to keep the heel door open for other talent and perhaps may even send Edge to Raw, who knows? So in essence, this was unfortunate but a good opportunity for the WWE to shake things up.

i would have to say the best thing that happen was that we get to see morrison awesome talent for the future, and zigler a whole lot more, those have to be probably the best 2 young talents on smackdown right now, i would love to see a fued with jericho and morrison

I honestly think Jericho will be the last man remaining in the Royal Rumble, then Edge will return then and defeat him.

But yes it is a very good thing because now when Edge returns, it will be even easier to have him as a face because when someone returns, they are always cheered, and if the wwe wants to turn them heel then they will do just that (randy orton returning last year). And like people said above, it set up pushes for Morrison, and had a positive impact on CM Punk.

I also think Edge getting injured is good for superstars like john morrison, dolph ziggler... i see Edge coming back before wrestlemania has a face...Is first fued back will be jericho

I really like Edge but still have to agree with you. I don't wish an...many wrestlers any kinda bad mojo that would lead to an injury, but Edge getting hurt was a blessing in disguise. Sometimes change must be forced not optional. I'm glad that alot of the younger guys are starting to get their come-ups and I'm even glad for Edge (sorta).

At the height of the Edge/Hardy/Lita triangle I didn't see a face turn as ever being an option again. Time has healed most of those wounds and I think alot of fans (including myself) have gotten past it. The guy is that damn good in the ring and on the stick. However it was kinda getting stale. Just his presence alone was lacking for those last 6 or so months. I'm glad that with Jericho being the awesome antagonist that he is, Edge can facilitate a face turn. Don't get me wrong, the guy is a great heel but I've seen it for the last 4 or 5 years and I'm done now.

I'm really excited at the possibility of E&C reuniting to take on an overly dominant Jerishow. He doesn't need Christian to turn face but I'd love to see them together again for a few months.

with edge being out it gives the new kids a chance to shine plus if cena loses @ braggin rights to orton we may actually see a cont. of the edge-orton feud they started back in the summer of 2004 over the ic title which never saw a clear finish to that as Orton was getting to World HW Title over Benoit. Edge's return all depends on bragging rights in a way. I'd rather see Edge on Raw not SD! as Vickie is once again on that show or he may jump to ECW but we'll have 2 wait and see. So I say Edge gettin injured sucked but it help w/ the future stars. I agree w/ ya ssvegita77 that might be WMXXVI's Tag Team Championship Match cause they teased a re-teamin w/ E&C as that would reek of AWESOMNESS.

I wouldn't go as far as to saying Edge's injury was the best thing that happened to the WWE, but I get what you are saying. It allowed the WWE to start thinking outside the box, which is good if you get the right idea. This is arguably the best that Big Show has been in the WWE. For a guy who is used to being poorly booked in the WWE, he saw his opportunity and took it.

On Smackdown, now you have other stars who can move up the card, while Edge recovers. You have people like John Morrison and Dolph Ziggler who are getting pushed very well, some probably having to do with Edge's injury. Also, you have new stars making their debuts on Smackdown, such as Drew McIntyre and Eric Escobar. New stars and younger stars are getting more exposure now and it most likely does have to do with the injury of Edge.

When I first heard about Edge's injury, I became worried about what the World Title scene would look like. I knew Jeff Hardy would be leaving, I didn't know when The Undertaker would return, I knew Chris Jericho would be in both the tag team and World Title scene, Kane isn't as credible as he once was, Rey Mysterio was the Intercontinental Champion, and later got suspended. I was worried about the main event scene, as I thought C.M. Punk would be World Heavyweight Champion having nothing to do. However, WWE has done a great job of keeping Smackdown interesting with or without Edge.

So, I see where you are coming from. I can understand your statement. I just wouldn't say Edge getting injured was the best thing to happen to WWE. An injury, especially a torn Achilles tendon, is never a good thing. Nor the best thing. All I can say that Edge's injury has left a lot more doors to open. Causing WWE to make the smart decison of giving other people pushes for once.

The only down side that I see is that supposedly this was a pretty severe tear. As long as theres no irreperable damage I gotta say that everybody is gonna benefit from this injury.

i dont feel that it is a great thing or a very bad thing...i think if they turn edge face totally as reports seem to indicate it will breath new life into the charecter..at least in my opinion. I think the Jerishow angle has worked out nicely...to be honest its better then i thought. I think that with his return and a great feud with jericho, Edge has the ability to become a top face, id say only behind undertaker on the smackdown brand.

when is edge's expected return? does anyone know?

i think it's a good thing for Edge more than the WWE for a couple reasons.

1) People always love when a top superstar comes back so what ever show he is on will get a big ratings boost for a while.

2) Edge as a heel was stale so this would be a good opprotunity to have him come back as a face.

I don't think the WWE would have changed much at all if he didn't get injured

when is edge's expected return? does anyone know?

Dont start this one, you'll get loads of people you 'know' that he's coming back at RR and will 'deffinetly' win it and 'will' headline WM with Y2J.

the reality is, is that he's scheduled to be ready to make some sort of return at the time of WM, an injury likes his is a very delicate situation and he should not be rushed to fitness, but then again never say never with WWE, he could be fit already and waiting in the wings:shrug:

Edge getting injured certainly opened doors. For one, younger talent getting a good push. Another is that there is a good number of storylines that can be put into effect with Edge's return. The creative team cannot go wrong with anything that they do because only a person without a brain would make his return to the WWE something that nobody would like.

Edge has had signs that he is turning face for a very long time now.

And after that he stopped getting heat and making heel promos.

obviously it would be great if edge came back. but i herd nobody is 100% sure hes going to come back. he probably will around RR-WR. i hope he doesn't. i think it would be good for him to come back around summerslam next year. i just think younger, newer superstars need a better push and that cant happen with edge there. i want him to come back, i think he is an awesome wrestler and entertainer but he needs to come back at the right time not royal rumble-wrestlemainia.

edge should not come back around rr-wm because i think that is to soon. younger newer superstars need a better push and that cant happen if edge is there. he is a wonderful wrestler and an amazing enertainer but he should come back around summerslam

I think that it would be great if they did an E&C reunion similar to the DX reunion that is crammed down our throats every few months...E&C could be a new challenge for The Hart Dynasty or even the Legacy (If in fact they still exist when he returns)

OK the untimely injury to any superstar whether you like them or not is not a great thing at first but as this group has put into words does open up a whole lot of oppurtunities for younger superstars to possibly step up and during EDGEs injury they had multiple stars step up from CM PUNK, Jeff Hardy, Morrison, Ziggler, and Show granted a couple of these are not young but they were able to captilalize on his vacancy in the spotlight

it is the worst

1. Show is like the worst wrestler ever

2. The Brian Kendrick had a storyline for finding the perfect partner

3. Edge is my favorite power wrestler, Jericho my favorite wrestler. Awesome on the mic, good character and awesome ability.

4. It didn't improve Big Show at all.

5. Beg for the new Jerishow to just break up. I never want a tag team to break up but, Jericho is awesome and Show is crap.

But it is my opinion so

Yes and no. Edge is a great wrestler and I hated seeing him have to leave. Now we will know if it was best when he returns. If wwe does not play it right then it hurt them. I got to agree with what one person said on the forum askin about Edges return. They nedd to bring Edge back the same exact way they did HHH with his first quad injury. He left as the HEEL and returned as the FACE. Edge has been the HEEL for a while have him return as FACE and he can have some title runs as a Face.
