Doesn't seem that far-fetched, but I'll admit that my only knowledge of the wrestling business in Africa comes from Cliff Compton interviews.
One of the STUPIDEST statements ever.
As an Indian, more people know The Rock than Hogan, they grew up on The Rock, Fast 5 was marketed as Vin Diesel and The Rock here, so stop making assumptions. Hogan is a famous name, but steps below The Rock and even Undertaker here. Regular people who have never tuned into an hour of wrestling, know Taker as a pop culture figure and NOT Hogan. You know how? I don't know how many times they said 'oh u like that undertaker' when i grew my hair really long. In terms of popularity and name, Taker and Rock are probably the two biggest name, not just in India, but in the whole of South Asian Peninsula.
How do I know that you're not a Rock mark who is exaggerating his impact in India? Fast five was no iconic movie like Terminator 2 or The Dark knight and neither was Scorpion King...Rock is a mid-level actor in Hollywood, he is not an A-lister.
Hogan at one point was one the most famous people in the world. Rock never was.
Protip: someone who lives in India probably has a better understanding of who's popular in India than you.

You don't understand it IMOYou clearly don't understand the meaning of A-lister.
Hogan starred in Mr. Nanny.
... I think we're done here
I must have missed where Hulk Hogan was on the same level as Tom Cruise. Was this before Tom Cruise was an actor, or was it after Hulk Hogan was a wrestler?
You don't understand it IMO
Hogan was an A-list reality tv and TMZ celebrity with his own show on VH1.

Hogan was a big deal in the 80's, but Rock is relevant now. If you wanna split hairs, Rock has made better movies or had better roles. While Hogan changed the game for wrestling on a global level, it was only wrestling. Younger folks probably only know him from Hogan Knows Best, or keep up with Brooke. But like KB said, Dixie said what she said to boost interest, even though it's shit.
Professional wrestling, television, and movies. Being older fans, they've had the benefit of being alive for all three. What do older people know Dwayne Johnson from?
They're more likely to know Sam Eto'o or Didier Drogba.Killjoy.exe said:Would a village in Africa even know anything about pop culture?
