Dixie Carter In (Shocker) Not Having Much Of A Clue

Doesn't seem that far-fetched, but I'll admit that my only knowledge of the wrestling business in Africa comes from Cliff Compton interviews.

A company where this guy is the biggest star and has held the title for the last 3-4 years:

and Justin Gabriel's booking and card location literally blows my mind (as in he was a jobber who lost in the most unclean fashions possible in the main event and could get cheered for bragging about his girlfriend or saying that he's the reason everyone in the audience paid to be there) outdrew WWE in terms of ratings and live event attendance and is probably the biggest and most successful wrestling company in the Southern Hemisphere.

Oh, and it's traditional for wrestlers heading to the USA to job to Ananzi.

One of the STUPIDEST statements ever.

As an Indian, more people know The Rock than Hogan, they grew up on The Rock, Fast 5 was marketed as Vin Diesel and The Rock here, so stop making assumptions. Hogan is a famous name, but steps below The Rock and even Undertaker here. Regular people who have never tuned into an hour of wrestling, know Taker as a pop culture figure and NOT Hogan. You know how? I don't know how many times they said 'oh u like that undertaker' when i grew my hair really long. In terms of popularity and name, Taker and Rock are probably the two biggest name, not just in India, but in the whole of South Asian Peninsula.

How do I know that you're not a Rock mark who is exaggerating his impact in India? Fast five was no iconic movie like Terminator 2 or The Dark knight and neither was Scorpion King...Rock is a mid-level actor in Hollywood, he is not an A-lister.

Hogan at one point was one the most famous people in the world. Rock never was.

Protip: someone who lives in India probably has a better understanding of who's popular in India than you.

You will have a picture of me in a turban in The Post A Picture thread soon, very soon.

Hogan starred in Mr. Nanny.

... I think we're done here

You clearly don't understand the meaning of A-lister.

Wrong Dixie. The Rock is more popular than Hulk Hogan right now. Unlike Hogan, The Rock has a good and thriving movie career. Michael Jackson is more famous than Hulk Hogan will ever be. More people know Thriller than Hulk Hogan vs Andre from Wrestlemania.

You don't understand it IMO

Hogan was an A-list reality tv and TMZ celebrity with his own show on VH1.

Rock was never on the level of Christian Bale, James Franco, Tom Cruise. Therefore Rock is not an a-list actor.

Hogan starred in Mr. Nanny.

Don't you get it? I'm saying that Hogan was a cultural icon not that he had a great movie career.

And to add to that Rock was never in an iconic movie.

So unless you don't have an Oscar, he ain't an A-lister, thats a shitty ass argument.

People who make million at box office, like your Arnolds, and Slys are better known than any of your A-listers. If you think the James Francos are bigger icons than some Vin Diesels you are dead wrong.

I must have missed where Hulk Hogan was on the same level as Tom Cruise. Was this before Tom Cruise was an actor, or was it after Hulk Hogan was a wrestler?

It was before Hogan declined Metallica's offer to play every instrument for them, brother.

Being more "popular" now is only part of the equation. Especially when most people are only speaking for one demographic. Longevity is a huge factor. I'd still bet Rodney Dangerfield is more recognizable than Seth Rogen.

Hogan was a big deal in the 80's, but Rock is relevant now. If you wanna split hairs, Rock has made better movies or had better roles. While Hogan changed the game for wrestling on a global level, it was only wrestling. Younger folks probably only know him from Hogan Knows Best, or keep up with Brooke. But like KB said, Dixie said what she said to boost interest, even though it's shit.

What do older people know Dwayne Johnson from?

Ahem...

Would a village in Africa even know anything about pop culture?
They're more likely to know Sam Eto'o or Didier Drogba.

I can bet you my left nut that I'm the only person I know irl that gives a flying shit about Leo Kruger and Justin Gabriel.

Professional wrestling, television, and movies. Being older fans, they've had the benefit of being alive for all three.

What television that doesn't fall under prowrestling has Rock done? What is the target demographic for the movies Rock has done? Median age in US last census was 37. Not really sure why we would expect a lot of people over that age that aren't wrestling fans to know who Rock is.

Ok I'm holding out my palm so you can give me your left nut now...I really like Leo Kruger, I kinda look like Leo Kruger.
