Dean Ambrose In-Ring Work - Is he being Limited or is he Overrated?

I feel the same way. So far, the other two guys have proven their worth much more in the ring than Dean has, and he is easily the weak link in the team right now.
But for some reason, a part of the internet wrestling fans continue to praise him (i.e. while not praising the other two) like he is a recent olympic gold medalist carrying two nobodies with him. Maybe he was sent to the Indies by his parents when he was a little kid (like the Spartans) to fight and be a real man, that's why that portion of the IWC has so much respect for him... or the bigger probability is that they simply act that way to make themselves look cool... you know, like calling wrestlers by their real names that some fans do- it makes them feel like they are cooler, truer, and know more than the others.

Of all three members of The Shield, the one that will be for sure a future WWE Hall of Famer is Dean Ambrose. He may not be the biggest star and he may not have the best matches as far as working goes, but he will be a big star on his own and that's always been a given from the first day I saw the guy cut a promo. I've read someone saying that he strikes as being "fake" which if anything is the least thing he does when he cuts a promo - I mean John Cena does it, Daniel Bryan does it, CM Punk does it, but I've yet to see a promo where Dean Ambrose doesn't seem to believe in what's saying.

As far as selling a rivalry and on keeping me interested for a whole year in the faction, it was Dean Ambrose who did it. It was not the Seth Rollins great matches against better opponents and it was not the unlimited potential of Roman Reigns - because lazy booking and lost of focus could ruin this two - it was Dean Ambrose's way of telling a story. What you see is what you really get from the man behind Ambrose's character, just watch a shoot interview of some sorts with him and you'll see that. His matches is not the standard WWE match, it's way more smart than that and the little things make him standout. His thrash talking, the slaps in the head, sticking out his tongue, focusing on the crowd instead of the camera. The whole psychology in the ring makes him a guarantee in the company. It's not for anything that guys like CM Punk as referenced him as "the secret weapon" or guys like William Regal and Mick Foley completely love the guy's talent.

He'll be the most entertaining guy in the long run because he is the best character and the best talker. Great matches anyone can have it with the right opponent, but creating buzz and garner attention for a story only a few can. Roman Reigns may be the biggest star and I'm fine with it, but Dean Ambrose will be a big star too and I would not be surprised to see him as a top heel someday in a mix of a Roddy Pipper and an Edge.

I have been a long-time reader of these forums without ever registering, but after reading this particular discussion, I felt compelled to register in order to get a few points of note out to the masses...
First & foremost, Dean Ambrose is absolutely NOT Over-rated, in my opinion he is Under-rated.. Firstly, Jonathan Good, is as good (Pun intended) as any other performer in Pro-Wrestling, at staying 'in character' the entire time he is working.. It doesn't matter if it is at an Autograph signing, on a Live Show or a House Show, he is entirely Dean Ambrose.. Secondly, he is as skilled as anyone, when it comes to talking on the microphone, cutting a promo or as a Guest Commentator.. And finally, when it comes to his in-ring work, the fact that he can work with anyone, tell the story that needs to be told, all the while making sure that the other guy in the ring is safe and they don't miss any of their spots (which ultimately, every performer should be striving to achieve).
Granted, he isn't a 'high-flyer' like Seth Rollins or a 'Power-house' like Roman Reigns but that isn't his character. Interestingly, when you compare the physical attributes of The Shield members, the only notable difference is with Reigns weighing more.. Ambrose: 6ft 4in & 225lb / Reigns: 6ft 3in & 265lb / Rollins: 6ft 1in & 217lb...

If you compare the overall abilities of The Shield members, (Staying In-Character, In-Ring Capabilities, Story Telling, Not working stiff, Selling opponents moves etc, as well as the Mic-Work & Promos) Ambrose is head & shoulders above Rollins & Reigns...

I will also add, that The WWE, is head & shoulders above any other company in the world, in the way that they, both Physically & Subliminally, tell/force/instruct their audiences who to support/make into Superstars you should be supporting. Lets look at Michael Cole as an example, (or any other lead commentator for that matter), at the way that he waxes lyrical about the 'Power of Roman Reigns' or how 'Devastating' The Spear is or how 'Athletically Gifted' he is by the amount of 'Hang-Time' he gets when delivering the 'Super-Man' punch..

For the record, I have no issue with the way that The WWE or Michael Cole go about their business in promoting the Babyfaces or the Heels to their audience. Ultimately, they are the world-leaders at what they do.

My name is Anthony, I am 31 years old & still watch Pro-Wrestling religiously each week. Whether it is WWE Raw, Smackdown, NXT, Main Event & PPVs or whether it is TNA Impact Wrestling, Impact Zone & their PPVs, basically anything that is aired on Cable here in Australia & anything that is downloadable.
I hope that my 1st post on the fabled WrestleZone forums is up to standard in the eyes of the longer-serving members & look forward to more Objective & Subjective discussions in the future..
