Cryptic "01/02/2012" Video - Chris Jericho Returns- KEEP IT IN HERE! - NO SPAMMING!

Everyone has their own theory about this but heel or face.. Controlling the crowd or not the end result is this...

I couldnt give two shits about it anymore. Complete waste of time. Complete waste of build up. Didnt make me dislike jericho but made me consider him not worthy of watching.

Firstly the promos should have been for taker not jericho. They were too creepy for jericho. End of the world doesnt really mean defeating CM Punk now does it. Call me crazy but those two seem like two very different ideas on two very different scales.

OK so after all the forums and pictures at airports and everything I get used to the idea that it was jericho although to the last minute I hoped id be proved wrong. But no OK jericho comes out. Expected it, accepted it. Then he runs around like he was drunk, makes the crowd cheer and what i thought was 'What the hell is this ? '. It didnt make me hate jericho, it just made me think that 2 months of buildup was for nothing. Last year u had undertakers return which everyone expected but then u had hhh return on the same night. Hell if u had undertaker interrupt jericho i wouldve enjoyed it more.

Disappointing... Only word I could think of. And I know people will be like 'Ur supposed to be disappointed. The mans a genius. He controls u like sheep bla bla bla.' Get ur head out of jericho's ass and realize this. The product is made for the fans entertainment. And the fans except jericho ball lickers werent entertained. Im a jericho fan and far from a ball licker and I can without a doubt say heel or face this was the worst return I have ever seen and jericho's name will go down in history as the worst return ever.

Props to Jericho, regardless of the crowds reaction which in my opinion SUCKED BALLS...(NYC, Philly, Canada, UK, Chicago would have given a better response) he did the one thing that we are all doing right now, talking about JERICHO.

I thought he maybe stretched it out a little too long but the machinations of what he was doing were brilliant, I can't wait until he cuts a promo on how easy it is to work the rubes! :lmao:

Maybe a little too long, but it was a very smart concept. It's obvious he's supposed to be a heel, heck it was through all the promos. Yet, come on! He's Chris fucking Jericho. He's making another big return after months of hype. Of course the fans are going to cheer him. The fact that the crowd would pop for "BREAK THE WALLS DOWN!!!!!" was easily foreseeable.

So what did they do? They used that to their advantage. Jericho got his big pop and played along. He had those people in the palm in his hand. He had ME too. And he just shoved it to us. He sarcastically mocked the people until the truth finally dawned on them, and before they could even realize just how badly they were played.... He was gone.

Maybe it wasn't, "brilliant." Maybe it wasn't legendary. But it was a very good game plan. It was a clever and appropriate way to take the face reaction he was naturally going to receive and quickly turn it around on the people while still being, well... Being Chris Jericho!

How would YOU have done it? Have him walk out and do some standard heel stuff? Interfere in a match? Try to draw heat on the mic? Maybe good for someone who's making their debut... But a mega-star in the sport who has a well established reputation and is generally liked by the audience? No way. What happened was very, very clever.

Finally, credit to the OP:

Hey, did anyone notice the cryptic message on WWE as it showed who was trending? It blurred out and I could make out '2012' but the words were blurred also.

Felt very Y2Jish.

Thoughts?

This thread started off strong.

Okay maybe he went a lil too long but I pretty much knew exactly what he was doing once he had that fake smile on his face. I thought it was great....I laughed because the crowd absolutely was in the palm of his hand and made it where the heel turn went almost perfectly. I find it great that people were pissed about it because they knew who it was all along so they got all worked up and got SERVED by Jericho. To think about the videos a sec, I am thinking that Stephanie McMahon is the girl in the video. The reason I think that is because Jericho's rumored match with CM Punk at Mania. Think about it......her father Vince was given a vote of no confidence, which is a direct result of CM Punk winning the WWE title @ MITB and leaving the company. Then her husband, who took over control was embarrassed when the WWE Superstars walked out on him. Also think about the direct insults Punk threw Steph's way at Summerslam and during his infamous "worked shoot." IDK maybe im thinking too much about it, but maybe she had to find someone to get revenge on Punk and who better than Jericho who feels like he is being ripped off by Punk with the whole "Best Wrestler in the World" moniker. Seems like the little girl in the video was telling the boy when to BEGIN so it makes me think whoever "she" is, is actually the mastermind behind Jericho's return.

Yeah, at the time I was little frustrated with the lack of a promo, but thinking rationally, it was a clever thing to do.
Let the crowd cheer him until they tire, so they get this out of the way, and can proceed to use him as the heel they want him to be. Also, his face was priceless.

However, that segment was hurt, just like everything else on that show, by that terrible crowd.

It was a little frustrating and disappointing to wait for a week to see him return and just smile for ten minutes and walk off without a word said, But it is going to be for a higher purpose.

It is most-likely going to be a way off making him an even bigger heel then he already was. I personally found this segment amusing, As he had the crowd in the palm of his hand. Only to just let them down by walking out on them without a word said.

Since most fans will be excited to see a returning Jericho, They needed to find a way to start to turn him back into a heel. By having him just walk out abruptly without a word said is a great way to do so.

you know what would be kool if chris comes out next week in his evil heel suit gimmick and also doesnt say anything. Kinda like him going through his career. Then in the third week come out as something completely different.

Never liked Jericho (and I love the heels)/ Think he is very over rated and an internet darling. All this build up (which was too creepy for him) and then 10 minutes of smiling. The Jericho marks have turned it round into a stroke of genius but this wasnt entertaining. It was boring and all plain stupid. The way he has denied it on twitter was pathetic aswell. He should have kept his mouth shut.

And the end of the word as we know it...he is going to knock Punk off his perch. Woopy fucking doo!!!! This should be something much bigger and I really hope it is.

IMO Jericho's return was done brilliantly. He had the crowd eating from the palm of his hand without even speaking. It wasn't until the end the crowd figured out the were being played by Y2J and then they booed him
Jericho just cut the best heel promo in years without even speaking.

Step 1 : Make long anticipated return
Step 2 : Pander to the crowd to show them you have them right where you want them
Step 3 : Leave without giving the crowd ANYTHING
Step 4 : ?????
Step 5 : Profit

Perfect HEEL promo and It pissed me the hell off!!! But it worked because it was Jericho.
Not to mention I was up for work at 7AM and RAW is on here 2 - 4pm

Obviously since we are almost in agreement that Punk/Jericho will happen at Mania, i was watching the promos again and the main point in them is the "End of the WORLD as we know it." Since Punk claims to be the "Best Wrestler in the WORLD" which is exactly like Jericho's former gimmick of being "The Best in the WORLD at What I Do," Jericho is coming back to end the WORLD. Hence the globe in the videos also. Just wanted to throw that one out there. Man this is great.....I am so excited for Raw next week(wow I havent said that in a while.) But if we are right about the Mania match then thats the feud and match I want to see at Mania, now I couldnt care less about Rock/Cena because this feud has potential to be EPIC and a true game changer unlike the Save_Us_Y2J. This truly is a great time to be a fan again. 2011 was a good foundation for a GREAT 2012....or atleast I hope.

To anyone with any doubt that Jericho is playing up a subtle heel card: his only posts on Twitter post show have been about how he was trending number 1, 2, and 3 after his return. If that doesn't scream heel to you, I don't know what else should.

Happy to see the cat is back, and happy to see whatever new dance he's got going on. This could be good.

I mean after I heard his music I was excited. I understand him going around shaking hands cause he is excited. But some one as big as Jericho can't comeback without speaking. The only person that can get away with that is Taker. This RAW has potential to be the best raw in a long time. Debut of Brodus Clay and Return of Jericho and they had great card. But like always Raw has to f*** it up.

I theorized that Jericho had a massive stroke from all the excitement and the only words he could say was ya ya ya.

He came as the the biggest baby face and then after 10 minutes he left as the best heel ever. He didn't say any word, everything was in his face and his smile said more than any words. He is really best in the world at what he does!

My first reaction was; "What is he doing?!". Second reaction "Genius!"

He knew he would get some form of a POP from the crowd, so he played on it, pure old cheesy Jericho, made them dance for him without saying hardly a word. Not only did he make a return but he left people wanting more, if not to see him again but for answers. He is still the HEEL Jericho, he just did a parody of himself from 10 years ago, overplaying it and showing how fickle the fans are, the fact that they hated him only a couple of years ago. You can see the fake smile on his face as he did it and then the smirk as he walked back up the ramp.

It was "different", he's done this two times before so it was predictable if he come back and did some lines on a mic, got some cheers or boo's then left. Not many people could pull off a comeback without saying a word and for there to be a meaning behind it. The fact that people can intrepid what he was doing without him having to explain his actions is a testament to what a great storyteller Jericho is.

As for the people who said it was a waste and that it sucked etc. Do you really think that he's here to entertain you, he returned with a big build up and played the fans for his own amusement. It was a perfect HEEL move. Don't expect to get your answers within the first ten minutes of his return, it's a story, so sit back and let him tell it...that's why he is the best in the world at what he does!

Yayyyy it's Jericho!!!! Wait....wait...no..he's a bad guy...BOOOOO!!!!! I don't get that. Why do they have to go to all the trouble to make sure fans boo him. Why can't he be a heel and still get cheered? He can still be a bad guy and go after Punk and do all his asshole heel things. I just don't get why the crowd is always a puppet that boos heels and cheers faces. I understand that heat is good for a heel. But Jericho is pretty much bigger than that at this point. I think it would be more entertaining if the crowd would cheer for who they really like better. This whole thing is more or less a cheap way to make sure that Punk gets the cheers when he feuds with Jericho IMO.

yeah, he was toying with peoples emotions, dont expect to resume his babyface persona, remember the vintages, they were mostly dark and cryptic, and now he is all smiles and cheers? i dont buy it.
It's going to be awesome how this develops in the next few raws.

I for one loved, Loved, LOVED the promo or lack thereof. I was watching it and my immediate reaction was wow he got a nice pop. His first time playing to the crowd, and I was "Oh crap how they going to make him heel now?".

Then he did the second lap around the ring and I quickly caught on to what he was doing. I loved it. Leave it up to Jericho to be unique. Who else would of done something like this. I just hope they keep this type of stuff up until after Royal Rumble. Let this Punk vs Ziggler mini feud play out and then insert Jericho so he can start the Mania build up.

Yeah, I can see why people hate how it went down. After all, you have the return of one of the biggest recent superstars and he comes back, acts overly excited, doesn't say a word and then leaves.

But people seem to be losing the agenda here. There absolutely NO WAY Jericho makes his return and doesn't get cheered, outside of a sneaky run in on Punk or something. And that is just a shitty way to return when you're that big. So in order to make him heel they had to play off that. While I admit, even after awhile of him playing to the crowd even I was beginning to think "get on with it," but when he eventually just walked out with that smug smile of his I got it. It was really a great way to handle it.

But now they HAVE to follow it up well. If they don't then it'll be widely regarded as a failure. Why is he back? Who is he after? And most importantly, why the cryptic promos? What did they mean?

It's not as bad as a lot of people think, but it can be if they screw up next week.

I agree with Buu! & Lionshare.... he really is awesome... Not saying a word and went from Super Face to Heel. And left everyone intrigued with what he'll do or say next... His intelligence level is beyond compare to all the others on the roster..

As the guy above me has stated, Jericho potentially turning heel at the end was probably the best heel turn I've in this decade. Better than R-Truth for sure. if this was a heel turn, WWE might of risked the quality substance they produced on Raw but it might be well worth it,

If WWE have gave Jericho a heel turn, you're looking at an all time great for our undisputed champion.

No doubt people will be watching tomorrow's Raw and it maybe ironic to say that it will be better than this week's raw which was pretty well hyped.

I think he is come back really...And by his look whan he was leaving I really hope he's heel...He's ok as a face but for me he's with Rock best heel there is and he's great and I like him as heel...So i hope he's heel and I'm sure he's back!

Nope. He didn't come back. It was just a 15 minute cameo. Well, no shit he came back!

Seeing Jericho doing nothing for 15 minutes does not garner my interest. At all. Over a month of cryptic videos that in the end made no real sense that brought so much "hype" all for Chris Jericho to pull the same act he's done twice already except this time he did nothing. Literally nothing. Brodus Clay finally debuting sounds far more appealing than figuring out why Chris did nothing. Because that's all he did. Nothing. It's utterly pointless to say "but we'll find out next week". Why? Well because "next week" wasn't the one advertised. It was this one. And it did nothing. At this point, Jericho's far outlived his usefulness and Memphis felt it.

i think it was brilliant,i mean, everybody was excited that he was back. And at the end he went with boos, thats just great.not a lot of superstars could archive something like that,it was brilliant, and the people who didnt thought it was brilliant just want y2j to be a babyface.First we were cheering he was back, but after that everybody noticed that he was being a heel.He fooled everybody,he calles before he left the WWE Universe hypocritz...well he is wright, look at us,just brilliant done :D
