Reading up on it all a bit further makes me believe that it is in fact Brock Lesnar.
October 2010 - Undertaker/Lesnar stare down at UFC 121. Obviously the intense stare down Undertaker and Lesnar had sets the stage for a huge match. Never before has this happened at a UFC event. Also, the Undertaker was actually interviewed and he was not in character...when was the last time 'Taker gave an interview to the media out of character? When was the last time the Undertaker gave an interview period?
January 2011 - WWE approached Lesnar requesting to use his name and likeness in the WWE 12 video game and the advertising campaign. Lesnar reportedly loved the idea but wouldn’t sign until Dana White gave his blessing. White stated to TMZ, "I love WWE and I have nothing but love for Vince McMahon -- I'm totally OK with Brock being in the game."
October 2011 - Deal w/ WWE is announced. First commercials advertising Lesnar in WWE 12 are shown.
November 2011 – The cryptic 1/2/2011 vignettes begin airing. The vignettes claim that whoever is “coming” is a familiar force and will punish the meek, among other things.
December 30, 2011 - In an interview with the LA Times before his fight this past Friday, Lesnar had this to say about a possible WWE return, "I was recently asked to be on a WWE Legends video game, and when I did it rumors sprouted I was coming back. I'm an ultimate fighter. I know (pro wrestling's) always there. If the organization sees business to be made off me, I don't think anyone in their right mind would turn down money, do you?"
Surprisingly, Lesnar loses very quickly. Was he just that outmatched to where he didn’t have a shot? Was he still sick from his disease and was nowhere near fighting shape? Maybe both of those….or maybe, maybe he knew that 72 hours later he would be on camera on Monday Night Raw and if this truly was his last fight, what was the point of looking tore up and beaten down.
During his post fight comments, as I mentioned previously, Lesnar was very humble. Lesnar stated, I’m going to say officially, tonight was the last time you’ll see me in the Octagon.” During his post fight press conference, Dana White reminded everyone that although Lesnar is retiring he is doing so still under contract. White stated, “"When he retires, he retires under contract. I've had my moments with Brock Lesnar, but I've had a great relationship with him. I don't know... we'll figure it out, no big deal. Never had a situation with a guy where, you know, we haven't done the right thing."
Clearly a settlement will be reached at some point. White has stated he has nothing but love for Vince and the WWE. Lesnar, after two straight losses, is more marketable and will make more money for Vince and WWE then UFC at this point. It makes no sense for White to hold on to a retired Lesnar, it makes perfect sense for him to let Vince buy out his contract.
It seems to me that this has been in the works for quite a while. We all have debated that the 1/2/11 vignettes are for ‘Taker or Jericho. They are dark making it seem like ‘Taker, but the wording make us think Jericho. The one man that both the darkness and wording match are Lesnar. I strongly feel that he will be returning this Monday. It’s too good for business to pass up.
