Okay, let's get started..
Based General Layout:
1. Rosters: While NorCal would have you fill the entire game with the entire Company's fill of Main Eventers, straight down to curtain jerkers, I'm on the fence on this one. Yes, without question I'd love to have the ability to know if I wanted to use D.H Smith, (who's currently on the active roster - yet not being used) that I could have the ability to pick him and use him.
However, I realize that the deeper your roster gets, the more the game's graphics begin to lack. So, with that being said.. let's have an easy compromise. Do the rosters like you do them currently.. put as many top level stars, to bottom of the barrel guys as you can. (Triple H & John Cena straight down to Hawkins & Ryder, for example)
Cut out the random guy crap. (ie. Tony & Masked Man) Use those spots for more actual Superstars. And with the individuals you don't make.. follow the next step.
2. Advanced C.A.W: Start adding actual fucking old school, and current Wrestling attires to the options in dressing your Created Superstars. Quit fucking putting flower patterns, and stupid line shapes in 20 different slots. It's overkill, and I can't believe anyone can find the time to randomly make very good looking CAWs out of this shit.. make it easier ON EVERYONE.. just add Old and Current Wrestling attires, of the Superstars who don't make the roster cut..
This way, if we wanted to create.. say, Gregory Helms.. then both his Hurricane and Helms attires will be there for us to decide accordingly.
Second, continuing on this theme. Why is it, guys like Edge, Shawn Michaels and the Undertaker all have amazing long hair.. but when I try to create someone with long hair, it looks blotchy, badly designed and very wrong in general? Fix the freaking hair! LoWM has amazing hair styles to pick from, just copy them over.
On the same note with loading in current and old attires, load in current and old FACES as well as original faces for us to mold from. You can't tell me that with 20 spots (10 male, 10 female) you can't take 5 male and 5 female slots and just add in guys like Hogan, Savage, Lita, Trish, etc. Most everyone who buys these games makes most of these CAWs anyway.. you're just spinning your wheels by adding in stupid shit that no one ever uses. So cut it out, replace it with something useful.
3. Movesets/Create-a-Finisher: While I love the expanded moveset, I can't help but dislike the 15+ DDTs, and 20+ suplexes. Yes, I do indeed find a way to give different suplexes to different Wrestlers, but rarely do I give more than one or two Cruiserweights all the jumping, flipping, twirling DDTs - and they have like 7 of them. (overkill)
I think W.W.E needs to realize they aren't the only Promotion in the world, and while adding moves like the Styles' Clash, the Canadian Destroyer, and even other top T.N.A/R.o.H finishers and signature moves.. the fact remains, NO WRESTLERS have copy-written holds on these moves.. and if you put them in YOUR game, people will be paying YOU money to have them. You'd be making far more people happy, and screwing your Competitor all in the same move. Go for it.
As for the C.A.F feature, if you must keep this around (and it's a nice feature to have) then make sure you do something useful with it. Open and expand the options in it. Keep it at 10 total 'steps', as to keep people from making 10 minute finishing moves. But add the depth of how they're performed.
From the corner, turnbuckle, top rope, ground, behind, front, aerial, running, etc, etc. Get my point? Not
all great finishers come from the standing position.
Maybe I wanted to create a Running Yakuza kick that spins you around, so I could attempt to Angle slam you, yet allow you to land on your feet so I could then Superkick you and pin you.. ever think of that? I doubt it, cause I only just did this very minute. But it'd be fucking sweet to see, right?
4. Created-A-Feature: I covered Create-a-Superstar & Create-a-Move.. but there is so much more..
Anyone remember Create-a-Taunt? Why not consider bringing it back, since I despise creating T.N.A guys, and giving them half-way rip off poses that look slightly similar to their own.
But I digress. The true reason I bring this up, is because of the really old school video game (Attitude for the original Playstation) that had a little feature called
Create-a-Pay Per View! FUCK YES! Bring it back, and do it now.
With all the updated functions, features and graphics alone.. think of the amazing quality you could create?! 8 matches, the ability to change opening pyro, banners, ring colors, (ropes, posts, pads, logos) even design how the matches happen - from opening match, to Main Event.
5. G.M Mode/Superstar Story Mode: G.M Mode was by far the greatest feature they created, and they were expanding it.. only to randomly drop it.. and for what? "Road to Wrestlemania"? Or the 24/7 mode, in which it wasn't 24/7 at fucking all?! It was basically a Mortal Kombat style bracket, in which you had to defeat like 5 guys, then the Champion of 'said' division. Screw that.. both "story modes" were stupid this year. Scrap them both, and bring back G.M Mode.
Now, how to continue expanding G.M Mode? Let us begin..
Unlike NorCal, I quite enjoyed the weekly proceedings of building up your characters by way of weird mini situations, (dates, workouts, photoshoots, movies, autograph signings, etc) keep that - yet alter them. Something like "internet promos/interviews", continuing feuds through house show encounters, etc.
I also injured the random injuries you could be faced with, if you over work your talent. HOWEVER, tone it down. They had their injury setting on full blast. Sandman (from a year ago) was out 6 months, all because he wrestled twice in one night. It doesn't work that way, several Superstars used to wrestle multiple times in a night. (KOTR, anyone) Maybe even give an option to sub-in injuries when YOU want them to happen.
Simulated Victories. (like NorCal said) Sometimes playing each individual match isn't always the greatest, and simming them is what you wanna do. Yet not always when you do this, do you get the result you wanted. Then you have to quit, restart, start over and re-sim. Rinse, repeat as needed until you get what you want. And most of the time, you've then wasted as much time as it would've just taken to play the fucking match. Give us the option to pick simulated winners.
Continue feuds without having those IN the feud always in the same freaking match. Can't tell you how much "I" got sick of seeing the same two people always finding new ways to be in the same match, when you only got limited options of "single", "tag", "3-way", "4-way" or "battle royal". Bring back a run-in option, or just don't force us to make them have contact on
that night. It's not like in real life feuds carry over every single week, with the same individuals in the same match.
Finally, Three Words: Cross Brand Wars. At the big Pay per views (Summerslam, Mania, Survivor Series) they allow cross promotional matches. Let this be optional, whenever YOU want it to happen. On top of that, let us have any match type, on ANY show we want. Maybe I don't always want the Elimination Chamber at No Way Out, or the Royal Rumble type match (w/ 10, 20 or 30 guys) at the Rumble, or the Extreme Rules match - ONLY in the E.C.W arena! Fuck that.
6. Mate Your Games: Smackdown vs. Raw 2009 has the option to upload it's roster to the Legends of Wrestlemania 09 game. Yet you can't reverse that. Well, this works if I wanted to import everyone to the shitter game.. but what if I wanted Hulk Hogan, and some of the other Legends to make "special appearances" on shows through my Smackdown game? Make the import/export feature work both ways. You own both fucking games, and they're made by the same industry. (THQ)
7. Match Types: Why do you cut some out? Special Referee was a huge hit with me - if anything, it needed an adjustment to allow the Official to do more things. Don't always ring the bell if someone submits, let the official decide. Don't always DQ someone if a weapon or cheat move is used, let the official decide. Bring back Special Referee.
Not just that, but Three Stages of Hell as well. And for the love of everything.. allow more than TWO Tag Teams involved in a T.L.C match, or any type of Tag match. I get you only have 6 guys in one match, at one time.. so be it, at least make an option to have 3-way Tag matches.
And I'm pretty sure some other matches that have been long since forgotten and/or buried away and left for dead in the older games.
Someone above me mentioned Create-a-Match Type, while this sounds great I just don't foresee it being possible. Too many people would be upset they couldn't create an Inferno Hell in a Cell First Blood on a Pole in panties match. I say if you bring it in, just do this one with the basics.
Add in older match types that people might want to try, then delete. Dumpster match. Pole/Flag match. Lion's Den match. Stuff of that nature. Nothing jazzy, just bring back memories.
8. D.L.C/Downloadable Content: I don't mind having to pay for extra features to add-in, but make sure it's worth wasting my time to have not already added them in - to begin with.
New Superstars, new attires, new moves, new add-on features to in-game features. NOT random Legends, attached to one individual I might want. NOT Superstars who could've already been added in, but you decided to just keep them out, so you could make more money at a later point.
Also, announce exactly how many DLC packs you'll release, and when, that way we know. (for example, this year's version - they should release a Christian, R-Truth, Jack Swagger, Kozlov pack) The fact is, when the following year's game comes out.. it's still going to contain a shit-ton new stuff that makes everyone want to go out and buy it.. so adding possible new Wrestlers, features, and attires won't stop people from buying updated games a year later.
Overall Thoughts: While I'm more than positive not everything I've mentioned could be jampacked into one game, because I get that everything takes so much space.. and everything I've mentioned is likely not even big enough to fit into TWO games, let alone one.. the point is.. take the most of what you can, and build around it.
Seriously, I'd be happy if you just added Old and Current Attires in CAW, throw GM Mode and Create-a-Pay per view back in. Add depth to Create-a-Finisher, movesets, entrances, and generic music.
