Coming to a WrestleMania near you...Cena vs. Punk

The problem I have is not if it COULD last until Mania, its SHOULD is last until Mania? The way I see it, if Cena and Punk have a match at Mania, who does that leave to face Miz at Mania? Orton again? A face Barrett? HHH? I dont see the WWE booking Cena into a non title Mania match for two reasons:

1. Cena hasnt been in a non title match at Mania since his very first world title win over JBL 7 years ago. All of his Mania matches are fold the gold.
2. Again, who faces Miz for the WWE title? No one you name would be a 'money' match for Mania.

My guess is that the Punk will now wrestle a face Wade Barrett at Mania and Cena will win the RR. Cena is going to headline Wrestlemania, believe that. If Cena faces Punk at RR it will mean that Punk won the title at EC.

One last thing I'll just throw in here lol. For those of you who think the E would book Morrison to headline Miz for the title at WM, think again. If they didnt wanna book Morrison for RR, they wont book him to headline WM. It doesnt matter that they had a great match on RAW, the E doesnt look at it as simple as that.

Jericho and Michaels started their Feud in December of '02 (technically November in the elimination chamber match at survivor series) and they made it last until Mania.

I'd rather see Orton Vs Miz again than Cena in yet another WM Title match. I liked the Nexus feud because it was personal rather than about the gold. This new CM Punk element will continue that.
I could see Orton winning the belt at the Rumble, Miz win it back at Elimination chamber and (if rumours are true) Triple H and Sheamus being added to the match at Wrestlemania to give it that 'Money' feeling you want. That would leave Cena is the most high profile Singles match on the card and would bring the whole Cena Vs Nexus chapter to an appropriate close.

I mean, thats a great idea. In case you havent seen a lot of my posts, Im not a John Cena fan. Never was a Hogan fan either. Id be cool if Cena had the first match at WM and I got to enjoy the rest of the show with out him.

But, thats just not the way it is. The E doesnt book the way that you or I would most LIKE them to, they just dont. A Miz/Cena WWE title match at WM would be MUCH more 'high profile' than Punk/Cena.

As great as Punk is, Miz is just running with the ball right now, he's the most 'must see' WWE champion of all time and John Cena is, well, John Cena. i doubt they'd book Orton/Miz at Mania after they've headlined the last 2 PPV's, competed with one another in the EC and had abundance of Raw and SD matches. Count on Orton/Miz to start happening again on Raw right after Miz retains at RR.

And a Four 4 match between Orton Miz HHH and Shaemus? It could happen but it would be the first Fatal Four way for a WWE title at WM in the history of the WWE/F.

This is WM. This is when you have your BEST matches from a money stand point...not best matches that the IWC want to see.

I like the original post, on how to make it last until Mania. It is very sound, and logical. But, as it was said, WWE doesn't always book in a logical way. I am a huge Miz fan, but I don't think he is ready to headline Mania. So a Miz/Cena match doesn't appeal to me. But a Cena/Punk title match at Mania does. So, it could be set up the way the original post set it up or like this.

Cena wins the RR, again. And challenges current champ Miz for Mania. But at EC, Miz drops the title to Punk. We then have it set for Mania Cena/Punk. This is a match I would love to see, because how often does Cena face a guy who is skilled in so many different forms or wrestling? Plus, its time to showcase some new talent in the mainevent. I am tired of Cena/Orton or Cena/HHH.

Tiredofthepeople, Wrestlemania 16 (2000) call it what you will, Main Event was The Rock v Triple H v Big Show v Mick Foley, so it wouldn't be the first time a fatal 4-way was done at WM for the title.

Punk/ Cena til Mania? I like the suggestions, but will it work, will Vince feel like it will give him the million PPV buys he craves for Mania? If you have Orton v Miz v Triple H v Sheamus for WWE title, Punk v Cena or Nexus v Cena Gauntlet match (Hopefully Cena loses) and Edge v Christian for WHC (dreaming here) it would be a decent ppv.

I actually like CM Punk's feud with Cena, Punk has obviously got to Cena, and I have to admit he has basically said what all Cena-haters are thinking.

I pose the simple question, do we really want to see Cena vs. Punk at Wrestlemania?

One reason to ask this, is that the IWC (well, most of the IWC) absolutely hates Cena. And most of the IWC worships Punk. So with that in mind, wouldn't you rather see Punk challenge for the WWE title?

Logically, you can't have this match. If you set all the focus on Cena Vs. Punk, you take away from the WWE title match, and the new Nexus storyline. The WWE has literally no time to set up a feud to give either man the title, and getting the title off the Miz is not a good idea for a company wanting a youth movement and trying to reward the Miz for being a good worker. The new Nexus would also detriment this feud, because you can't just continue to attack Cena. that's already been done, and Cena's already beat the heel out of everyone in the Nexus save Punk.

I know I would rather see Punk challenge Miz at WM and win the title there than have him feud with Cena up to Wrestlemania.

So, the question posed is...Would you like to see Cena vs. Punk at Mania?...Would you rather see Miz vs. Punk at Mania?...Would you rather see Cena vs. Miz?...or, am I a bumbling idiot who doesn't know what he's talking about?

Well i like the triple threat matches at mania so i personally would throw them all in a triple threat match for the wwe championship. The only question is what place that would leave for randy orton on the card

The Miz Vs. John Cena (UGHHHH) Vs. Randy Orton Vs. CM Punk Vs. John Morrison or Sheamus Vs. <Insert Returning Raw Superstar At Royal Rumble Here> is gonna be at EC then they have to find a way to seperate the six fighting at EC into at most 4 people for the title at WM27. It could go to anyone, i have no clue if Punk Vs. Cena would work but there is still plenty other ideas/storylines WWE can use leading up to WM27

I think this rivalries would end quickly. CM Punk only has the two worst rookies in the new nexus. I would like to see John Cena versus Triple H, I don't care whoever wins because this would be a monumental match. My Card is:

While I'm all for Taker losing a match eventually at WM, I really don't think it would be to Edge. Having Taker lose at WM would be an opportunity to completely catapult a guy on the brink into stardom. I'm an Edge fan and all, but Edge clearly doesn't need that push. I'm thinking back to when Orton had the whole Legend Killer thing going and fought Taker. Taker clearly wasn't losing that one, but it would be that type of opponent which would benefit the most. If the streak is going to end, it better have a major purpose.


I was kind of shocked they gave up Cena/Punk 1v1 tonight. Sure, the ending made sure neither one of them were screwed per se, but still would have preferred something else. I would love to see Cena/Punk at WM (I think the path mentioned earlier with eliminating each other in RR and costing each other the title at EC is best one), but I could also see some form of Nexus vs Nexus and have Orton/Cena/Miz in a triple threat match for the title at WM. There's plenty of history with Orton/Cena and Orton/Miz, and tonight they gave us some mic time with Cena/Miz.
