Cody Rhodes on the Mic

Eh, I disagree. He's okay on the mic at best. I know a lot of people like what he's doing right now, but I cringe everytime I hear him speak. I mean I'm glad he has some character and that is better than most in the WWE because it gives him a sense of direction at least, but the way he speaks is annoying and cheesy, and not in the good Heel kind of way. i literally have to change the channel. It just comes across like "b-Film" acting in my opinion.

Overall, still better than most today, but that's one of the problems in of itself... We've seen so much crap that we've convinced ourselves that simply not sucking is good.

Anyway, that's my two cents.

Rhodes is good on the mic just like most heels. He is pretty good at delivering the usual promos like making fun of the venues of televised events and getting cheap heat but I see nothing outstandingly special or intriguing over the past weeks. I honestly loved it when he had the mask. His promos were so much more intense and they were a newer concept which always interests the WWE audience.

Cody Rhodes has an unusual delivery when doing promos. He has a very deliberate way of speaking, and I can understand how that tone might rub people the wrong way, but I like it.

Cody is good at drawing major heat, and I think he will be a main event star in the near future.

honestly he isnt anything special right now however when he had his mask i used to compare his promos to jake roberts deffinatly taken a step down after losing the mask

He can certainly talk and relay his character successfully. He is a bit of an overactor for my liking, but he is well above average.

He is good on the mic but what makes his mic skills stand out is his character. Due to his character he is allowed to deliver his promos like he is a psycho killer. And he does it to absolute perfection. And he can put on a good match. Thus, the push he is receiving.

This is obviously a subject where you have your sellers (haters) and buyers (me). Love the kid. Great in the ring and EVOLVING his character and mic skill. Before he lost the mask everybody wanted him to get rid of the mask. He don't have the mask, "oh he was better with it."

Marks....

He is a bit of an overactor for my liking.....

Everyone to his own tastes, because I've found Cody to be the opposite. To me, his delivery is bland and uninspired. I can't hear his voice (which I'm told is monotone) but I follow his posture and gestures. The bad news is that his body movements have always been stiff and inert. The good news is that he's getting better. Just as he's been improving his physique as time goes on, he's also getting better on the mic. Now, he looks at the audience instead of just the camera.....and he turns his body in different directions while speaking instead of planting himself in one spot and orating.

You might have noticed that his mic time is spent delivering a monologue. Even when standing with an interviewer, Cody doesn't respond to questions and engage in a back-and-forth with the other person; he simply says his stuff and walks off. Take his confrontations with Dustin; the older brother says his lines, then shuts up as Cody completes the rest of the routine. I feel this is so because Cody can't yet hold his own when sharing the stage. The next step in his development is to engage in dialogue with other people, something that guys like John Cena and C.M. Punk excel at.

There was a time I thought Cody would never make an interesting personality, but I'd be happy to be proven wrong. He's getting there.

Cody has come a long way from his lisp and stuttering days in Legacy. Today, I think he's one of the top midcard mic-workers in the entire WWE (Wade is clearly first though) and reminds me of a 23-year-old Randy Orton when it comes to his ability. They both had trouble cuttin promos in the conventional way but once adapting their style to the deliberate, melodic, somewhat vicious talk that Rhodes has now and Orton developed in 03 they seem to be a lot more comfortable on the mic. This is something that Orton perfected by 09 and made him one of the top talkers of that time. If Rhodes keeps improving (like he's been doing since day one) I think he will eventually be one of the top talkers in the entire WWE too.

I disagree on this being honest, if there's one thing I don't like about him it's him on the mic. His tone of voice bores me, and I lost a lot of the respectin this aspect as soon as he said "would you like a reciept with that bag?" possibly the stupidest thing I've heard on the mic

I think Cody Rhodes is doing a good job on the mic. He connects well with the audience, he uses his facial expressions to help sell what he has to say and seems to be much more comfortable now than he used to be.

In my eyes, his delivery is solid, he continuously puts over how important it is being the Intercontinental Champion, he generates heat from the crowds wherever he goes, he conveys his emotions well, can be intense when he wants to be and fans wanna see someone stomp his face in. All in all, I don't think any reasonable person can expect anything more out of a heel champion on the microphone. Has he revolutionized mic work? Of course not. He's not trying to and why should he when what he's doing works.
