Bullshit about Movies

It's not great or anything, but it was definitely good. There was some great things about the film, but the last half hour or so really dragged on and kind of killed the momentum of the first hour and a half. It's worth checking out though.

I've probably watched maybe one episode of Six Feet Under, always heard rave reviews about it, just have never gotten around to it. The fact that Ball wrote American Beauty though pretty much means I'll check out anything he does for the rest of his career.

And I can't wait for your Argento thread mate, Suspiria is one of my very favorite horror films. There are so many other great ones though; Tenebrae, Deep Red, Bird With the Crystal Plumage. Look forward to discussing him with you and how he puts Fulci to absolute shame.

...Huh? Those two movies aren't even gang movies to begin with, let alone the greatest ever made. Training Day is a film about the LAPD Rampart Division and Gran Torino is a film about Clint Eastwood, not the gang. The gang plotline was completely secondary to the main focus of the film, which is Eastwood's character coming to terms with life without his wife and accepting his time has come. Neither of those films are "gang" movies.

They had gangs in them, they're a gang movie, by gawsh. If those movies aren't gang movies, my entire perspective on gangs is changed. Really. I thought Training Day, was a form of the LAPD gang :lmao: Then, obviously the Clint Eastwood charcter is farm more important than the gangs, but its obvious to me, the gang was a huge part of the movie.

Besides, the greatest gang film ever made is City of God, and no one can dispute that. City of God makes two great films like Training Day & Gran Torino look like amateur homemade movies in comparison. Menace II Society gets an honorable mention as well and is better than both of those films.

Is it okay if I've never heard of this film?

City of God is the best film about gang life and gangs in general though, and there's no debating that. But anyone feel free to try to.

Can I rent this at Blockbuster?

Meh, its okay if you want to call them that Milk. Or Alf. Milk-Alf, that's your name.

But if that's your definition of a gang movie, technically you could say Malibu's Most Wanted is a gang movie.

It's foreign, so I'm not shocked you haven't. Every minute is pure gold though.

Probably, if you have atleast a halfway decent Blockbuster. The one here has it. It's a pretty well known movie, you shouldn't have much difficulty finding it. It's entirely in Portugese though. Even if you hate subtitles though, you'll still love it. I've never met someone who doesn't love that film, even people who can barely read love it.

:lmao: I'll be back to milkyway in a few months. Just playing the Alf gimmick. Great TV show.

I've heard of it, but I've heard bad things, so I never picked it up. It has to be good, to be considered a gang movie. Its in the criteria of gang movies.

Ahh, my movie knowledge isn't that great. So I just was making sure I'm not missing one of the most popular movies ever, like I did with X-men 3...:lmao: Still haven't seen that movie.

Our blockbuster is like a small shack. I'll check out Netflix they're bound to have it. I like subtitles, I watch Japanese crap all the time with subtitles. Shouldn't effect the quality of the movie anyways.

Firstly, I'm pretty surprised somebody has watched this film, because it got basically no advertisement or recognition. Secondly, I'm glad someone else enjoyed this film - especially from a seemingly knowledgeable movie "buff".

How long did it take you to discover the "twist' ( That is, if you remember the movie)?

I'm a huge horror fan, so I watch just about anything I can get my hands on in that genre. Heard great things about Behind the Mask and was pleasantly surprised by it. It is though a ripoff of a Belgian film called "Man Bites Dog", which I'd suggest you see if you liked Behind the Mask.

Which twist? That it turned out Taylor was who Leslie was after all along, or that Vernon doesn't die at the end? They were both well done. I knew he was going to survive. Apparently they've been working on a sequel, I'd love to see that.

That Vernon was actually after Taylor the whole time as opposed to to Kelly. I'd be interested in a sequel as well. Speaking of sequals - and horror - have you watched the Wrong Turn series.

I've seen the first two, I'll probably rent the third one once it comes out.

The first one was minorly enjoyable. Nothing special. Wouldn't call it a "good" movie, but it's fun to watch at midnight with a few friends and a few drinks.

The second one I actually really enjoyed. It's the one with Henry Rollins, right? And the reality show? I thought it was far better than the first, that's for sure. Anytime you got Rollins involved it's a fuckin' win.

Yea, there's supposedly a third in the works. The second one had Rollins and was the reality show one, yep. I agree that the second was the superior.

What do you think about the "classic" silence of the lambs?

I can tell from your quotation marks you probably didn't enjoy it, right?

Silence of the Lambs is indeed a classic. I still think Manhunter is the best Hannibal Lecter film ever made, but Silence of the Lambs is very close. Great film from top to bottom.

Plus, it has what might just be the greatest god damn song of all time, "Goodbye Horses" by Q Lazarus:

How can you not just love that song?! Seriously, I've jammed the hell out to that song hundreds of times.

lol. You're right (you're right about the song too), while I do think it's a great film, I think it gets way too much undeserved praise. The acting is good, particularly the main characters, however I didn't get the full physiological thing about Hannibal. He just didn't scare me; he was just a witty old man. The only real scary moment was the ending with Gum. But, i'm not going to discount how good the movie was. If you're an avid horror fan I think you might be somewhat disappointed, that's all I'm saying.

Xfear, do not see the Unborn. It blows. The acting is very atrocious, the storyline is all over the place, and the CGI monsters are just plain laughable. Matter of fact, the whole film was laughable. Nothing remotely scary - horrid, horrid movie.

Oh don't worry I didn't have the slightest intentions to see that film. Looked awful, and heard it was awful.

My rule of thumb with horror films is Bloody-Disgusting. If they give a movie a good review, I'll make sure to check it out, otherwise, I won't. They're almost always spot-on. They trashed the Unborn so I'm not interested.

It looked to me like everything that is wrong with modern American horror films.

Just saw Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and I must say it was very well done. The characters were good once again and the visuals were awesome. I heard that people said this was the darkest of the films so far, but other than the ending I felt Order of the Phoenix was much darker. Maybe it's just at first glance, but I didn't really see this film as "darker" than OOTP.

I definitely think it was darker. When Harry and Dumbledore are fighting off those gremlin-type monsters in the cave, that's probably the darkest the series has ever been on film thus far.

I made a thread for the film in the Movies section if you want to talk about it or post a review or whatever.

Double fuck-yes on that one Norcal. Inglorious Basterds is the only movie left of the summer that I'm really dying to see. Well that and Halloween 2, but I'm expecting Halloween 2 to probably suck. But I'm a huge Michael Myers mark, so I'm pretty much bound by the laws of nature to go see it.

I just want to see Eli Roth smash a Nazi's head in with a bat. That alone will be worth my ticket.

Glad I didnt get a WTF emotcon from District 9. I have a lot of people will look at me funny over that one. Personally, I feel it looks interesting as all get out

Psyched for Basterds, District 9, and Shutter Island.

and maybe a few others

I didn't think much of HP. That's probably because my friends and I were ripping it apart.

Snakes on a Plane is actually a lot of fun.

All three of those look badass. I'm also pumped for Avatar. Since it's supposed to, y'know, "change movies" and stuff. Only took you 13 years Cameron.

I'm also lookin' forward to Halloween 2.

Snakes on a Plane is actually a lot of fun.

FUCK yes it is. Anyone who hates that movie is an evil, soulless spawn of Beelzebub. They should be lined up in rows and shot.

Inglorious Basterds is going to be awesome. It'll be Quentin Tarrentino's next great movie, since Pulp Fiction or Reservoir Dogs.

Of the finished film, Tarantino said he thinks that it is the closest thing to Pulp Fiction he's ever done.

He also claims this as his one great masterpiece, the ultimate work he puts out. And I doubt he'd let it go to print if he didn't really trust what he was putting out.

That, and I just watched Fight Club last night. I'm fucking pumped for a Brad Pitt movie that has him as bad ass as when he was in Fight Club. And I refuse to wait for World War Z to made into a movie.
