Bullshit about Movies

Has anyone here seen A Scanner Darkly? I saw it once, about a year ago. I remember the story from it, but not too much else. I'm thinking about giving it a second viewing, to see what I missed the first time, but don't know if I want to sit through it again...

Great flick. Very, very different from the original Phillip K. Dick story, but great nonetheless. I love Linklater, and I love every actor in the film. It's a home-run for me personally. Can get a bit slow in the middle though.

I will tell you one thing though; it's fucking INSANE when you're tripping. INSANE.

I love the cast. Reeves, Downey, and Ryder are a good mix. The rest of the cast is good too. The middle is what makes it feel like it's a 4 hour movie. An animated nude Ryder fixes that though.

I was drunk. Probably didn't help with feeling like it was taking forever to watch.

Pornstars don't make crossovers. There's only been one porn star who has successfully crossed over, and that's Sibel Kekilli (Stallone doesn't count). Anyone else that has tried has pretty much failed miserably (Ron Jeremy, Rocco Siffredi, Jenna Jameson, Marilyn Chambers, Traci Lords, Jeff Stryker). Katie Morgan and Sasha Grey really don't count either, as they played porn stars/PSEs in the movies they starred in.

Edit; Shit, this isn't even a spammy post...this response will be posted in your thread.

Did you post in the thread? I'd rather post non-spam about it...

But yes, I know they aren't usually successful. They usually don't work with someone like Soderbergh either. If she really was as good as "they" say, then why not?

I wouldn't call Ron Jeremy's legit acting career a failure, he obviously isn't a good actor or anything, but he continues to get roles pretty steadily in Hollywood.

I always remembered Nina Hartley in Boogie Nights as well. Technically her character wasn't a pornstar, just a cheating ****.

Oh and NSL, I edited your post and just deleted the word "short" when you said Soderbergh's film was a short film. It wasn't, it's a full length film (77 minutes).

I never saw an official length, just kept hearing "short film". Thanks for the correction.

Traci Lords also did some crossover stuff recently, didn't she?

FUCK yes. Gremlins 2 is fantastic, might even be better than the first. Tough to choose, they're both classics.

I want gizmo for a pet SO damn badly. I would carry him around in a satchel. Just think of the bitches you could pull walking around on the beach with THAT little dude poking out of the backpack.

Ill pour water on him, and give you one of the asshole ones if you want, X.

I just finished watching the last half of Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist and I must say it wasn't too bad. Nothing spectacular or anything, but it was refreshing to see Michael Cera act as a different character than just the awkward, nervous guy. I think he did a pretty good job in the film. Plus, the girl who plays Norah is hot.

Just back from watching The Taking of Phelam 123. Some great acting by Washington & Travolta but my god that film has an unbelievable amount of plot holes.

Sigh...I just got done watching No Country for Old Men. I'm still purplexed. Anyone care to explain the actual point to the movie? :lmao:

To entertain you? You know, the same point of every motion picture?

Amazing film.

I thought that movie was an absolute let down, I liked Travotas character but that was about it, other than that I found the movie to pretty shit really, idk, maybe my expectations were just set a little too high

Can I just ask, did you get incredibly pissed off at the whole laptop scenario?
I mean, it served no fucking purpose, it was in view of the villains the whole way through the film, the man was talking loudly, it lost battery and came back on at exactly the same screen 5 mins later, just ridiculous the whole bit.

I thought JT did well in his role, although I laughed a lot at him which I don't know was a good thing or not.

Also, was the whole point of this film to make NY cops look like fucking idiots?

Well I found it to be completely and utterly ******ed and unrealistic, yet I knew that shit was going to happen as soon as I saw the kid sit down on the train with the damn thing

aren't they?
