Hey Tdigs, it was a couple of pages back so you probably missed it, but have you seen the film Malèna? If so... do you recommend it?

Does that have Monica Bellucci in it? I think that one is in my netflix queue; I can tell you how it is next Wednesday if you want to wait (that is, if you're buying the movie instead of renting it).

Michael Mann, please. I've seen every single one of his films.

Interesting choice...my favorite American director. Have to go and dig up my Thief DVD for that one.

Fellini did La Dolce Vita, right? I liked that one, even if the Famous Movie Star sorta...vanished midway through the film.

And Kurosawa did...The Seven Samurai? Something like that? Haven't seen it yet.

Yes to both. If a woman ever wants to solve the problem of understanding men, all she has to do is watch La Dolce Vita.

Anyone going to see Orphan? Or as it was first known, The Good Son? You know, McCaulay Culkin gets pissy with Elijah Wood and starts killing dogs and trying to push his mom off a cliff.

..Then Orphan has Esther, a girl who is adopted to a family, then starts burning shit and killing people.

It's like Tommy Boy and Black Sheep, only instead of a year or so apart it's 16 years apart.

Orphan looks fucking awful but I read a really positive review today over at JoBlo. I usually agree with those guys, so I'll give it a rent. I don't see myself shelling out money to go see it in theaters though. Most of the "must-see" titles of this year have already come and gone for me. There's really only about 5 movies off the top of my head left for this year that I'm really looking forward to, being:

Funny People
District 9
Halloween 2
Inglorious Basterds
Avatar

I was really hoping 500 Days of Summer would have a larger opening. I think I heard in the trailers that it was going to be limited release...which means I'm going to have to see Zooey Deschanel when I buy the damn thing. Oh well.

I'm currently working on a thread for Pan's Labyrinth, because that movie deserves so much more than a single post in the Review Thread. The discussion from that film alone should generate some deep discussion that is actually outside of the Cigar Lounge.

As much as I want to see 500 Days of Summer, I've heard alot of bad things about it. Like a lot. I'm still going to see it eventually because I'm a mark for JGL, but I don't think it's going to be this amazing film that some of us (*cough*JMT*cough*) are expecting it to.

What should I write a review for next...The Hangover, or should I trash The Hitcher remake as the turd it is?

First of all, fuck critics. From what I've gathered, people are just constantly bitching that the "Days" aren't in order. Who fucking cares? That makes the movie different and makes me want to see it even more. I'd much rather that than some generic bullshit like 95% Romantic Comedies from today end up being.

trash The Hitcher. We all know The Hangover is hilarious. But I don't think some people may no the shit that is The Hitcher.

Oh, and I'm currently holding out hopes for Zooey Deschanel. Everything I see her in I hope is incredible. ..or at least she's incredible in it. If I can leave the theater thinking "Well, at least Zooey was good" I'll be a happy man.

I don't know if I'd go so far as to call Zooey amazing. She's certainly very good. But most of the films shes in are pure shit. She's really attractive though.

Well, I never said she was amazing. Just said I hope she will be. Semantics X, semantics. They're a bitch. ;)

Hell yes she's attractive. I wanna have sex with Marquis every time I see that avatar. She's married to the front man to Death Cab for Cutie or some shit band like that, though. Pisses me right off.

Blah, I meant incredible, not amazing. Whatever, big difference grammar Nazi!

Has anyone seen the director's cut Watchmen yet? I saw the movie in theaters, and I wanna know if that cut is better then what we saw at the movies.

I rented "Confessions of a Shop-aholic" the other night. Bad choice, John Salley was the only redeeming factor

I confuse Isla Fischer with Amy Adams all the time. Maybe if I paid more attention...

The story of Mr. Pink, just for you X (Embedding has been disabled, so I have to post the link):

And I just read your post on the X-Files... I only watched a few episodes in my life. Wasn't a fan at all. Tried watching the movie a few weeks back and just couldn't get into it. It's as I told you before... I'm just not a fan of sci-fi mystery type of shit. But what'd you think of the movie, X? Did it live up to your expectations, or was it a letdown?

Which movie? The new one or the first one?

The first one is great, great stuff. The new one was mediocre.

The X-Files is probably my favorite show of all time. I guess you wouldn't like it if you're not into Sci-Fi, though alot of the episodes incorporate horror. Best damn show ever, and easily the greatest theme music as well. I might have to break out my old X-Files sig now that I think about.

And Mr. Pink > God

Notice how I've got the Buscemi avatar now AND the custom title referencing yet another Buscemi flick? Awesomeness piled on top of awesomeness.

I was talking about the new one. I don't even remember there being a first one, lol.

Yes, I did notice that.

Speaking of the awesomeness that is Steve Buscemi, you still need to watch Delirious. I watched the second half of it the other day and in my opinion, it's by far Buscemi's best performance in years. The ending is so fantastic, too.
