Agreed. But for something I was lucky enough to find stored on the DVR, I'm not a complainer. In addition, to see it with a fresh approach (as I haven't seen it since I was 14) was worth my time... just so that I'm not tossing and turning to recall what I thought of it.

Planning to get Watchmen tomorrow. Loved it at the cinema. It flew by for me. Never read the graphic novel though. Anyone with a better eye for movies than me (pretty much every regular in this thread) have any thoughts on the film?

Dude, reruns of Kenan and Kel?
I hope I get The N! I'd record every damn episode and watch them a million times.

And, fuck the Nostalgia Critic, Goodburger was great.

I've read the graphic novel and seen the film, and I loved the film. Read the comic, though, trust me. I think they did a fabulous job on the film, actually, but many would disagree.

The book is better, but the film was one of the better adaptations I've ever seen. The book goes into far more detail about the characters and there's obviously some stuff they had to leave out. Definitely read it as it's different enough that it'll change for you.

The book is stashed in the library downstairs. I've been meaning to get around to it one day. But I must admit that when my brother told me the ending to the book and how it differs from the movie, I sort of gave him a blank "What the fuck?!" stare.. I probably should read it to appreciate it.

X, thoguhts on Jimmy Stewart?

One of the greatest actors of all time, what's there to say? I don't give a shit if it makes me a sappy loser, It's a Wonderful Life is one of the greatest films ever made, and Stewart is perfect in it. It's not Christmas unless I'm watching that movie.

Stewart is God, basically.

As for Watchmen, basically what KB said. Very good adaptation of an even better graphic novel, but hardcore fans probably are pissed that they couldn't include everything and changed a little bit. I for one thought it was great though and am really looking forward to picking up the DVD tomorrow. I'd been a fan of the book for a long time prior to the film being made, and I enjoyed it thoroughly and thought it was as good of an adaptation as possible.

Good to hear. Stewart is my all time favorite actor. Never once saw a bad role from him, and to top it off, he was a general in the Air Force. Top that with any other actor.

Of course I've seen Rumble Fish, X. In my opinion, it's Francis Ford Coppola's second best work behind Jack.

Okay, that was a joke.

But seriously... Rumble Fish is awesome. Outside of The Godfather 1 & 2, it's definitely his best work (I hate Apocalypse Now and while The Outsiders is very, very good, it's nowhere near Rumble Fish). And before The Wrestler, it was by far Mickey Rourke's greatest performance ever. Great, great movie. Haven't seen it in years though. Now I want to watch it really badly. Thank you, X.

So, despite your warnings JMT, I'm now watching The Hitcher remake. It's already pretty awful, and I'm only about 5 minutes in. I'm senseing an epic fail is about to unfold before my eyes. Sean Bean is the man though and Sophia Bush is damn hot, so maybe I'll atleast halfway entertained.

Eh... not really a fan of Sean Bean, to be honest. He was good in Troy and Goldeneye, but that's about it. And Sofia Bush is decent looking, but her acting is absolutely atrocious and the guy who plays her boyfriend couldn't be less likable, so even if she was the hottest chick on the planet... her having such a worthless douche for a boyfriend would ruin it anyway. Damn I can't stand that film, lol.

But X, Tdigs... I know one of you have seen Malèna, huh? I saw some very high quality gifs and read a small synopsis for it and thought it looked really, really good. Do either of you recommend it?

And Tdigs... I want to reply to your Director's Showcase thread, but I have yet to seen any of that dude's work. I look forward to the education though.

Damn you've never seen an Argento flick JMT? I thought you liked horror films? Or am I thinking of someone else?

Yeah this movie is shit thusfar. Whatever, nothing else to watch. Haven't seen Malena by the way.

For the past two years, I've broaden my horizon so to speak when it comes to the horror genre outside of the U.S., but that has mostly consisted of Japanese stuff. I have yet to make a serious transition to European horror (outside of really known recent stuff like Let the Right One In), and before you tell me... I already know Europe currently has the best horror films. It was just being a fan of Kung-Fu flicks nearly my entire life and of the Asian culture period, I had more of a desire to keep up and learn more about Japanese horror films than French, Italian, etc. I'll become more knowledgeable though, which is why I've been looking forward to Tdigs' Director's Showcase to begin with.

See I'm the opposite, I've always been more interested in things like the French New Wave and Italian Giallo than I have J-Horror.

Argento though is a staple of the horror genre in general and not just the Giallo. Suspiria is one of the greatest horror films ever made from any country.

Wow. Finished The Hitcher. Fucking atrocious. I knew it was going to be bad, but I wasn't this was worse than bad. There were atleast a dozen unintentionally HILARIOUS moments. I'm going to tear that movie a new asshole when I write up a review for it tomorrow. Be prepared for some epic rippage.

Fucking garbage. And I've actually enjoyed all of the Platinum Dunes remakes up until watching this one.

Stewart is awesome. Apocalypse Now didn't suck.

The only 'little' part I wished that they included was the first chronological fight between Comedian and Ozymandias.

You know what? I'm going to say something here, and I don't care if I get laughed at.
I fucking LOVE the Super Mario Bros. movie
Say what you want about how it isn't like the games, talk about the cheesy special effect, I think the movie is awesome and Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo were a great team. They really worked well together.

Also, have you ever had a sudden desire to watch a certain movie, for no reason at all? I'm having one of those right now. I really want to watch The Brave Little Toaster. I don't even remember if it was good or not.
Maybe there's a copy at Goodwill.

I'm thinking of going to the movies later. What should I see? Public Enemies, or The Hangover? You decide.

I was leaning towards the Hangover. Mostly because it will probably be alot more fun to watch drunk than PE would.

Being drunk at the movies is awesome, is it not? Oh wait, you don't drink MurFish.

My goal is to have all of Dario Argento's thread up by this upcoming Monday. For the sake of this thread's frequenters, I'll next do a director everyone has seen a movie from. So, let me whom you want done next.

Hey Tdigs, it was a couple of pages back so you probably missed it, but have you seen the film Malèna? If so... do you recommend it?

Michael Mann, please. I've seen every single one of his films.

The Hangover was much funnier on the big screen as opposed to the shitty cam version on my computer. Definitely more enjoyable, especially with a few drinks in me. Ed Helms is the man.

I'd say Michael Mann or Brian De Palma are your best bets if you want recognizable directors tdigs. All of the other ones are guys that only some of us on here like you and me will even know. I'm willing to bet we don't have many Fellini or Kurosawa fans here on a wrestling forum.
