Bullshit About Movies, Release Dates, and Box Office (PLEASE READ FIRST POST)

Just got back in from seeing The Crazies.

I'm a huge fan of Tim Olyphant, and he does a tremendous job here as always. Excellent horror film that did a great job building tension all the way throughout. The zombies in this film weren't your typical "RAAAAAAAGH" zombies either. They carry guns and they hold conversations. The jump scenes weren't gratuitous and were pretty limited unlike most zombie movies where they're done ad nauseum. It's an exciting movie, and the horror is very well done. The way the film escalates is great as well.

I don't think I can really post too much more without giving the film away. Make it a point to see it this weekend if you're a fan of horror.

So, because of jmt and the Battle Arena Tourney, I've felt a desire to go and rewatch the live action Death Note movie. It's just as good as I remember. Everyone reading this, go watch it now.

I've also laid my hands on a copy of the sequel/second part, "Death Note: The Last Name". Expect a full review in this thread once I get through it.

I've also wanted to rewatch Corpse Bride since I'm learning how to play the main theme on the piano. I've only seen like four times. There's just something about that movie I love. I could watch it over and over and never get tired of it.

I just watched the live action version of Death Note on a very high recommendation for Doc. I am not typically a fan of foreign movies, but this one is one of the best cat and mouse games I have ever seen in a movie. The story is great, the characters were great, the tension and suspense was great, and just about about anything you could think of was great. They also in my opinion ended the movie perfectly which has me so pumped to watch Death Note, The Last Name later. I could probably go on and on and on about this movie, but I would recommend that if you haven't seen this movie that you should definitely see this movie in some way, shape, or form.

What did I tell ya, man? The movie is a great way to get people into the series. They did such a good job.

Also, it's a really nice feeling to recommend someone a movie and have them like it.

I saw Cop Out earlier today, with my mom. It was pretty funny. I'm not going to rant and rave about how it's teh best movie EVAR!!!11!, but it was a fun little flick. I'd recommend it if you want something that can make you laugh and still have a fun cop-action-type movie. Plus the very last scene is great.

Something I loved about Cop Out was its use of music. It did a fantastic job with the soundtrack matching the onscreen action perfectly, and there's a certain scene that uses a dance song (I can never remember its name...) to hilarious effect.

Well I forgot a movie while doing my movie log the other day so I will just put it in here. Has anyone in here heard of and or seen New York, I love you? Well I just saw it this past weekend. I heard a lot of fanfare about it before hand on IMDB and had no idea it was on DVD yet. So I found it and watched it and was not impressed.

Now the film has a hell of a cast and the problem was not in the acting, besides Shia Lebaouf's segment. The problem with this movie was that it had way to many actors. There are way to many characters interacting with each other in this 2 hour movie. It is broken up into segments which I like, especially in Coffee and Cigarettes, but it just did not work as well in this movie. They ran everything together without really saying when a segment was ending and not giving any closure to any of the stories.

Overall the movie was a 4/10 though some of the acting was very good. The old couple at the end are funny and Ethan Hawke was as good as ever, which in my eyes is almost always. Lebaouf had a terrible segment but was the only really bad segment. Also, Drea de Matteo was amazing. I didn't realize it right away but she plays Jax Tellers ex wife on Sons of Anarchy. Very talented actress that I would like to see more of in the future.

I could care less if Cop Out is directed by Kevin Smith; Tracy Morgan sucks, Bruce Willis is washed up, and Rashida Jones is hot, but not a good actress. In other news, Shutter Island kept the top spot. While Cop Out was undoubtedly weak competition, here's to hoping that The Crazies can keep its spot next weekend (if you haven't seen it yet, go, as it's a very good horror remake).

So, I'm not sure what's coming out next weekend. Supposedly, there's some movie about a security guard or some shit dating a successful woman who looks like a model, but that sounds contrived as shit and, ironically, it will probably flop as the premise sounds like it will dissuade its target audience from coming out (seriously, why would a twenty-something year-old loser want to see a movie about another twenty-something year-old loser who has something he doesn't, and will likely never, have?).

That's it for now. tdigle out.

Damn my parents for informing me that our TV's get FEARnet. What a brilliant idea for a TV station. I can't seem to stop watching the worst of the worst horror movies I have ever seen.

I watched Lair of the White Worm starring Hugh Grant from 1989 or sometime around then. What a strange, trippy movie to say the least. The movie is filled with naked cult women who have fangs and like to bite guys penises thus paralyzing them. There is also a crazy little song in tribute to the man who killed the White Worm. Did I even mention what the White Worm actually was? Well I will leave that for you to find out and boy is it a twist.

I also saw Happy Birthday to Me. A decent little slasher flick from the early 80's. It had its moments and something I would say is worth checking out if your into horror/slasher films. However, it had many problem such as a car that is shown multiple times falling off a bridge onto its roof that is completely negated when the car is shown sinking right side up. Lots of errors but who cares right?

Finally watched Fish Tank. Jesus fucking Christ, why did I wait so long? I loved it. I've been a fan of Michael Fassbender for some time now and this just cemented that for me. Katie Jarvis is unbelievable as Mia.

I'm not going to say much about the plot because I think it's best to go into this one knowing as little as possible- it'll probably be more satisfying if you just let it pan out. I don't want to spoil the final act of the film (it's brilliant), because you need to just allow the film to take you there itself.

If you're a fan of character driven films or character studies in general (in this case the subject matter being lonely, desperate people) give it a shot. It's well worth it, in my opinion. I'd consider it one of my favourite movies of last year.

So yesterday I watched both death note movies. WOW best movies I have ever seen, The story of both movies were very great. This movie proved me wrong, as i always used to say that japanes movies are crap and they never make sense. Well both of the movies made alot of sense. As i was watching it, I wanted to see more and more, I really got into the movie. I really cant wait to see the third part of death note. Who ever invented death note really deserves a prize.

Also Doc because of you always talking about Death note, And you always had said that Death note is the best movies ever. So that made me watch both of the movies. Thanks Doc

I just finished the second Death Note movie, The Last Name.

The easiest way I could describe it is: HOLY SHIT.

There were a ton of twists and turns. It deviated a lot from the manga/anime, so when the Reveals came I was very surprised. The second movie is just as good as the first, easy. It has more plots, more suspense, more bondage, more everything.

JMT, Scotty, Barbosa, anyone else who's seen the first...go watch the second. Right. Now.

I ordered that plus the prequel about L's character on Friday, so I'll get it sometime next week.

Anyways, Oscars come on tonight, definitely watching. The Independent Spirit Awards came on yesterday, but I missed it. I'll watch a replay in a couple of hours though. But I got spoiled by some random news shows that Precious won most awards. Fuck.

That movie better be damn good. Speaking of which, I should be seeing that along with a bunch of other 2009's most praised films in the next couple of weeks: The Blind Side, The Hurt Locker, Brothers, Up in the Air, Sherlock Holmes, etc. So, then I'll really be able to chime in what was the best of the best to come from America cinema from last year.

Also, while I'm thinking about it, a Steve Austin starring movie called "Damage" comes out in a couple of weeks. Anybody heard of this, or have any clue what the fuck it's about?

Ive seen it. Lulz. It was released to overseas military WAY before everyone else. Its shit, but slighlty enjoyable. Think bloodsport, but with SCSA. He gets out of jail, some folks take him in, he fights for money. If that kind of thing is your gig, then go for it. I found that other shit he was in (I cant remember the name...the one were everyone is on an island trying to kill each other, with all the sexy ass gals) was far more entertaining, but ive certainley seen worse. if you like fighting and SCSA, its likely worth your time.

Cool beans. I'll most likely check it out. B-Rated cheesiness FTW, especially ones starring pro wrestlers.

And the movie you're thinking about is The Condemned. I would have been able to enjoyed that much more had I never seen Battle Royale before it. The Condemned is nothing more than a really shitty remake of that movie.

Speaking of movies starring wrestlers, I just saw Suburban Commando is about to come on HBO in ten minutes, lol. Definitely watching. Haven't seen it since I was a kid. Let's see if I can spot The Undertaker this time around.

LOVED that fuckin movie when I was a kid. He fights UT in the initial "crash my spaceship into a dico" segment. He is easily spotted.

Dude, if you get the chance, watch it again now that you're older. It's fucking HILARIOUS. Sometimes unintentionally of course, but to give it some credit, there are a couple legitimate funny ass jokes in the film. It was fun to sit through, unlike Mr. Nanny when I saw that again a couple of years ago. That movie is just plain shit.

Also, at first glance, I thought the daughter in this was Danielle Harris (the love of xfear's life), but it was actually the girl who played Kelly Kapowski's little sister in the Saved By The Bell episode where Zack starts the teen line. Fun fact for SBTB/wrestling fans on the site.

Yeah, I noticed him right away. I saw the movie at the theater when I was a kid, but I guess I didn't see it again after that, because I could not believe 'Taker was in this and I didn't notice it when I heard about it a few years after I first saw it. I guess he hadn't debuted yet when I saw the film, or at that young age I just couldn't notice The Undertaker unless he was The Undertaker.

Any of you jokers see the trailers for Clash Of The Titans? Fucking SO pumped for that shit, I will likely emerge from my lair to see it. Sam Worthington is a beast, and I am sure Liam Neeson is gonna be awesome in the role of Zues.

thoughts from the experts?

Honestly, I'm not looking forward to that at all, Norcal. It looks like 300 (I probably hate this film more than any other I've ever seen) mixed with Tranformers/Alien. Not my taste at all, man. And while I dig Sam Worthington (enjoyed him in Terminator Salvation), I'm not feeling the rest of the cast. Ralph Fiennes I don't mind too much, but Liam Neeson as Zeus. Really? I mean, fucking REALLY?

Anyway, only movies I'm looking forward to right now that's coming out this year are Iron Man 2, Inception, Wall Street 2, and that's all I can think of. I'm sure there's two or three more that just slipped my mind, but you get the gist of it.

Clash of The Titans looks amazing i can't wait to see it i loved the original one when i was younger even though it was cheesy as hell. Now they make it with a better cast and special effects i really hope it doesn't disappoint because i have been looking forward to it for awhile.

You guys seen the trailers for the Nightmare on Elm Street remake? I am not particularly impressed with any of it. I don't like how Freddy looks, I don't like him having an english accent, and the film looks like another "chicks with huge boobs and no acting ability get naked and get slaughtered" Micheal Bay shitfest. I am very very dismayed with what I have seen so far.

I hate 300 too, JMT, right there with ya. I dont see how this looks anything like it though, I think this looks motherfucking epic as shit. What is wrong with Liam Neeson?

Oh, and you forgot Toy Story 3. I know you are looking forward to that, becuase if you aren't, you sir, have no soul.

This is crazy i have heard two people on here say that they didn't like 300 which is insane because i have never heard anybody say that they didn't like that movie before. I actually think that 300 is an amazing movie. And seriously what is wrong with Liam Neeson he is a good actor.

You might as well make that three people. I was not amused with the majority of it. I do agree with the Liam Neeson thing. I really enjoy Liam Neeson, an actor that I had no idea existed until Batman Begins.

:lmao: Well I do not hate 300 but I am also not a huge fan of it anymore. Visually it was pleasing and that action was entertaining but most of the acting was sub par and I really did not like the story. I honestly cannot sit down to watch this movie even more, not even on free TV when I am bored, kind of how I am with Super Bad as well.

On to bigger and better things now, has anyone ever seen The Black Irish. Wow, terrific movie, that I had never heard of until I stumbled upon it on Showtime today, yes I know have Showtime for at least this month. I really loved it. It's about an Irish family, a drunk dad, a thug brother and an athletic son with a promising future. It was a powerful film that I loved every minute of.

It's so funny how you went from cuming all over this movie and saying how great it was and how you loved it to present day were you say it was just ok it just amuses me. I have never heard of The Black Irish it sound like it's good i'll need to check it out.

I never came all over it, not like you did and do. I enjoyed the visuals and thought Butler was a badass, which is still true on both accounts. I have just gradually lost interest in the story and all the hype people give it. Remember I am the guy who refused to watch Taken for 2 or 3 years because people talked about it to much. However, you are correct that it is interesting how I did go from once enjoying it to now not even being able to sit through it.

I recommend The Black Irish. It really was a pleasant surprise.
