Asian Cinema

No, I can not. I may be a little rusty :p

Current items in Queue:
Hard Boiled (Seen it before just thought I'd watch it again)
LA Confidential
Oldboy
Sukiyaki Western Django
Fulltime Killer
Versus
Internal Affairs 3
Bella loves Jenna (:D)

Good film there. Another good one with Chow Yun Fat in is The Killer, bit cheesey somewhat but worth the watch.

Internal Affairs 3

Have you've seen one and two? Part 3 I thought was really disappointing.

Anyways, no one has mentioned Memories of Murder. That's perhaps my favorite Asian film to date.

Others I love that haven't been mentioned:

Joint Security Area
The Host
Ichi the Killer
Visitor Q
Police Story 1-3

:( Damn, I really liked IA 1 & 2. I'm hoping I won't be disappointed by 3 too.

Seen the ones in bold.

I've never even heard of Visitor Q or Memories of Murder before. I'll look those up too.

I really have to know why everyone loves Ichi the Killer. I must have missed something watching it cause I thought it was pretty terrible.

Also, I just commenced watching Oldboy.

Someone probably mentioned this already but Suicide Club is an amazing movie.
Also, the original Dark Water is good if you like scary movies.

Well, maybe you'll feel differently. I thought #1 was just okay, while #2 was awesome. Part 3 just has too many plot holes, and the story drags and drags.

Well, if you don't like Ichi the Killer, then you won't like Visitor Q. Visitor Q is even more fucked up than Ichi, but man do I think it's awesome/hilarious.

And yeah... make sure you check out Memories of Murder and Joint Security Area (JSA is one of the most touching movies I've ever seen). I promise you'll enjoy both.

Also, I just commenced watching Oldboy.

Hope you enjoy it, man. It's a classic in my book.

:( It was the way they structured the series that leads to plot holes. I'm expecting it to suck, which is why I held of so long on watching it.

Will do.

This movie is fucking amazing. I'm watching it again right after.

The original? I've seen a Dark Water but have no idea if it is a remake or not.

I think the original Dark Water is Japanese or Korean. They remade in America maybe 3 years ago? It was shit compared to the original. There's a scene in the original that still gives me chills. Whoever created the pale white little dead Japanese girl should be sent to hell.

I thought both of those were great films- really interested to see how the second Mongol film works- hopefully it will still have some scenes with his blood brother.

I guess you will have probably seen these but no one has mentioned them yet- Spirited Away, Howls Moving Castle, Pom Poko.

Really looking forward to The Great Khan. The cinematic potential of the Mongol conquests in Northern China, the annihilation of the Khwarezmians, the invasion of the Caucasus and the Russian steppe is immense.

I would guess that many will be surprised by just how far west the Mongols got. Although not until after the death of Genghis Khan, under the great commanders Batu, Kadan and Subutai, the armies of Poland, Hungary, the Holy Roman Empire and many other states were carved apart, with one Mongol army reaching the Adriatic.

On a sidenote, I watched the Hangover last night...

Meh
