Air Bourne into RKO

Chardee Macdennis

Getting Noticed By Management
When Evan Bourne went for the Air Bourne and Orton reversed it into the RKO, I marked out like I haven't in years. I'm 30 years old and haven't jumped out of my seat like that in a few years.

The move itself took precision timing and HAD to have been practiced numerous times. Did anyone else think that manuever was something special? Can anyone tell me a move performed on RAW (not a ppv) that had them jumping out of there seats as I did that's happened in the last few months.

I may be jumping the gun, but that move made me think a program between Orton and Bourne could be very interesting. It could also help Bourne's recent push to be put in a fued with a main eventer of Orton's caliber.

Please let me know if you think the move was as impressive as I did and if you think those two could have an interesting fued.

Best moment of RAW, by far. I usually fast-forward through 80% of the program (which is why I never watch it live) because I can't stand the skits that seem like they're designed for four-year olds (The Brady Bunch, really? really? [Thanks Miz]), but that was a total throw-back to the days of old when unpredictability ruled the ring. I haven't been that surprised to see a finisher used on the drop of a dime since Austin stunned the entire McMahon family.

That was one of the craziest moves I've seen in a while....I wish orton could have stood up more before landing the rko, that definitely would have added perfection...

To me personally, now-a-days it isn't about the wrestling, and last night gave me hope once more. The last time I saw a jaw-dropping DVR-rewinding moment was when Shawn Michaels almost kicked Shelton Benjamin head almost off, but I think last night topped that.

like all of you i went crazy when this happend. the best moment of raw by far (and ya the brady bunch think was increddibly lame)

i thought it was done perfectly and i would love to see a orton bourne feud down the line.

I have to agree with NWX217, when HBK hit SCM on Shelton as he was coming off the top rope was just jaw-dropping, I thought that was just amazing. Last night RKO was great too but I still have to give it to HBK,sorry.

that was fucking amazing....

one of those moves that looked great and came from nowhere. rko is one of the few moves that can just pop the crowd and be pulled from anywhere unexpectedly. raw is lacking in these type of moments and its a shame. i miss seeing hbk pop off a kick on some poor sap who couldnt stop it if they tried, i miss the tazzmission & the look of surprise on their face when its too late. i miss the stunner on EVERYONE....

and i miss the F-5 so fucking bad. does anyone else remember brock getting hit with a cross body by orton, rolling thru& hitting th F-5 all in one gracefull powerful combo? or pulling that on zack gowan? something about seeing a one legged man being flung thru the air just makes me laugh. reminds me of the 'rubber pencil' trick.

orton's use of the rko gets better & better. the best thing about this is that i never would have thought it would have happened. talk about perfect timing. damn that was amazing.
cant wait to see what they do for the mitb....

It was really good, I have seen it many times....a moment to really go CRAZY...I have to however say, its not better than the HBK.Benjamin super kick we saw a few years back..

Has anyone notices though, normally the opponent is near the corner, Orton was like in the middle of the ring, and if you see when he was about to hit it...he was never going to make the landing..if he had hit it, it would have been like the Brock Lesna SSP..jus sayin!

It could have been amazing...but we could barely see it. The cameras were out of place. I think you guys are amazed that he did it more so than actually seeing it. Be honest, when they said RKO is when you got excited, then you actually prayed for a replay. WWE messed this one up.

It was pretty cool, but Orton was kinda low on the ground when he hit it.

As for feuding...well, it could happen. It doesn't seem Orton will lose stock by losing to Bourne. Orton did help elevate Kofi Kingston with that feud last year, so it might bring Bourne to upper midcard.

I am the biggest orton mark that has ever lived and I have to say that the RKO last night was awesome. Randy also pulled off a similarly awesome RKO about a month ago on Edge. edge went for the spear and Orton met him in mid air for the RKO. I have been orton's biggest fan since the day he stepped into the WWE, Heel or face and he just keeps getting better. Now if only he was able to truthfully unleash the beast. Damn PG.

I really hate to crap on stuff that is pretty cool, but go to WWE.com and watch the video of it again. They show multiple camera angles, and Orton really only grabbed Bourne literally right before he hit the ground. Maybe... a foot or two before Bourne hit the mat is when Orton grabbed him. It was basically just a missed shooting star press.

In my opinion (even though it was not executed perfectly) it was the coolest move on Raw since Kofi "Boom Dropped" Orton through a table at MSG last year...

I have to agree with you somewhat on this one. The original camera angle barely caught it, but it caught it just enough so that I was like "WTF, did i just see what I thought I saw?" Then the replays were truly amazing. The initial camera work could have been much better, but it caught just enough that the impact of the move was still felt.

HBK's superkick on Benjamin was another GREAT one, but that goes to part of my original point, that it was quite some time ago that we saw a jaw dropping move like these two on a RAW broadcast.

True, but considering the degree of difficulty, I think the move was exucuted to near perfection. I would venture to say if they tried that 10 more times, maybe only one would look prettier and would be done from higher up. Given the circumstanses (excluding initial camera work) I think this came off pretty flawlessly.

It was ok. They had a good idea, but it could've been executed a little better. For one the camera was out of place when it happened live, so I couldn't feel the adrenaline like I think I would have, and plus when you saw it in the replay, Orton didn't get up high enough to make it look devastating. He was just 1 second too late.

It was good, but we've seen much better finisher to finisher counters.

I thought it was pretty fucking cool. Props go to both superstars, but without a doubt, the execution of that move depended more on Randy than on Evan. The only complaint I have regarding that move is that I wish there was a better angle, but that is the cameraman's fault, not the wrestlers'.

The last time I remember seeing a move that was that amazing was in a match between Shawn Michaels and Shelton Benjamin. Shelton went for some sort of springboard move from the apron, and Shawn Michaels hit Sweet Chin Music on him before he even landed. It was intense, but I don't know if it was more impressive than last night's Airbourne RKO.

That's exactly my reaction. I had to search YouTube today just to find a decent replay. Watching it 'Live', I didn't get all that excited simply because all I saw was the end of it with Orton bouncing back up, due to shoddy 'live' camera work.

Which is unfortunate, as both Bourne and Orton did a heckuva job with that move, as I saw this AM on video replay. I was dismayed at the lack of decent replays on RAW. They should've replayed that about 5X.

Nothing that special to be honest, infact the RKO added no force to the move at all. Definitely the best bit of Raw but that doesn't say much as it was another weak effort from the WWE.

When I first saw it live I just thought Orton was bouncing off the mat due to the impact of Bourne but then he stood up and I was thinking "What jus thappened?". Then they say he hit the RKO I was instantly hoping for the replay.
The fact they attempted this and didn't completly fail is pretty big in my book. Two things made it look worse than what is should have been. First off like everyone has been saying the live camera angle was bad but the replay angle's fixed that.
And secondly, Orton didn't stand all the way up or jump to hit it. He just crouched up long enough to find Evan's head and than fall back down. Now I know what they had to be precise, but man if Orton could have left his feet that would have been amazing.
If they use the right angle I could see this being on Raw's theme video at the beginning of the show anyways. Props to both of the guys. I don't see this leading to an Orton/Bourne feud because Bourne already has something going on with Jericho but it is cool seeing him interact with the higher talents.

That air bourne into a RKO was awesome last night. I mean I wasen't expecting it and it looked awesome. It was something that made me say omg show a replay so that we can see a better angle of it. As for Randy winning the money in the bank I don't think he will, maybe he will fued with Evan Bourne afterwards.

Man what a move!!! I was just sitting there thinking "Oh well Evan's gonna get the Air Bourne and yeah..." then, BAM! It happened , for a second I had no idea what happened and then Orton got up and I was like "No way...." They replayed it and I was psyched. I haven't seen a move so amazing like that since Shelton Benjamin got a super kick from HBK in mid air.

I didn't mark out when I saw it. The only thing that went through my head was what the fuck? It was cool from some angles, but nothing special. What still makes me mark out to this day is when HBK SCM Shelton Benjamin after the springboard attempt.

When Evan came out to attack Orton I was like wow its Evan why he here, then he just knocked Orton senseless. I thought someone else would interfere with the Air Bourne but when he lept I knew it was over but at the bottom of the screen I saw Orton grab Evan and was like WTF.

Best thing on Raw since Kofi's boomdrop and Jeff's Swanton both on Orton

OP - could not agree more. I have been bored to death with the same Cena vs. someone who he can't beat for the last 3 or 4 years.

I actually sat up on the couch with a smile on my face like a 2 year old in front of my girlfriend when that happened.

Reminded me of the days when DDP was turning top rope chokeslams into diamond cutters.
