Air Bourne into RKO

Thought the spot was awesome, although obviously it would have been better if Randy was in more of a standing position. However I believe we will see something huge from Bourne at money in the bank, a real OMG moment.

It would be amazing if Evan hit Airbourne off of the top of the ladder on Orton. That would get Bourne his vindicaton on Randy. OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD WAIT!. What if Bourne goes for it the SSP again on Orton from the top of the ladder and Randy COUNTERS IT INTO AN RKO AGAIN?! Now that would be OMG Moment of the year.

Either way, I will remember what happened last night forever.

Pardon my French, but I marked the fuck out. I'll go further to say that it was the cap on what was no doubt the best portion of the night. Orton and Edge had just put on a fantastic match, the best I've seen on Raw in a long while (I'll go as far back as Edge vs. Christian on 5/17). Jericho getting involved was also a unique surprise, and the RKO was an absolutely brilliant finish. It's a nice reminder that I can still get something substantial out of Raw from time to time.

I seriously haven't been excited for wrestling like I am now in years, and this move has a lot to do with it. This is what gets people excited and into your product, and I think it's going to translate into PPV buys.

The real question is, can they top it at the PPV?

I really hate to crap on stuff that is pretty cool, but go to WWE.com and watch the video of it again. They show multiple camera angles, and Orton really only grabbed Bourne literally right before he hit the ground. Maybe... a foot or two before Bourne hit the mat is when Orton grabbed him. It was basically just a missed shooting star press.

I feel the same way. I hate to crap on something which, in principle and performed 100% spot on, would be incredibly amazing but that RKO was not flawless. Even WWE believe that. They showed all the replays and it showed the SSP in slow-mo to highlight how innovative and high-flying Bourne is and then goes back to regular speed when Orton hits the RKO. I'm 99% sure they did this to show how lightning quick Orton can strike but it kinda took something away from the replay and in a way, covered how sloppily Orton had grabbed Bourne's neck.
I respect both guys for having a go but it's got nothing on HBK/Shelton SCM or even the Mysterio Springboard RKO but i feel thats because it is more difficult to execute as Bourne is rotating in mid air as opposed to just flying at Orton. It was a good attempt, and although i expected something when Cole said Orton was too far out, i was thinking along the lines of putting the knees up so i was certainly suprised. Did i mark out? No. After watching the replay a few times, you an see Orton got very little hold of Bourne's neck and didn't really drive it into the ground but then this was a difficult move to execute.

I don't the people criticizing this move really understand how difficult it would be to pull off. To say the HBK/Shelton SCM was more difficult or Mysterio springboarding into the RKO is more difficult doesn't make sense. Both of those moves have people coming at the "finisher" with little motion (i.e. a straight jump with no additional movement). Hitting the RKO when Bourne was flipping backwards is crazy.

Orton had to grab Bourne by the neck and stop his momentum (which had his upper boady rotating upwards since it was a backflip) and come down with him. It wasn't perfect by any means and I agree it would have looked better had he been able to grab the head higher up, but that would have taken away from the quickness of it. As it was, Orton was still flat on his back as Bourne starts his jump and doesn't actually get off the mat until Bourne almost completes the flip. The timing needed was staggering.

I can't think of another move that would be more difficult to RKO someone out of.

HBK/Shelton SCM or even the Mysterio Springboard RKO

Does no one remember the Mysterio off the ropes Sweet Chin Music? i thought he broke his Jaw when that happened! was effin brutal. he has actually done it to Rey twice! yes, both times it was not on Raw, which was the OP, but still worth a mention if we're talking about the other one.

Sadly, I will not be ordering MITB. I do however hope that the ppv capitalizes on this spot and the athleticism of the wrestlers in the ring. Oh, BTW....what in GOD's GREEN earth will Mark Henry add to the match? (Might ask that question in a thread)

I would like to quickly thank the WZ community for the gracious replies to my first thread on these forums. YOU GUYS ROCK!

Initally when I seen the move, I marked..

But after all the slow mo replays, it was pretty clear that orton just rolled over and just kind caught his head. The impact was all natural.

But It was a hell of a way to show how "lightning quick" orton is as some other poster put it.

He is athletically gifted and so is Bourne and they put on a good match. That's the most important part. I'm glad they are pushing bourne and hey, maybe well see a lil RVD'esqe moves from bourne this Sunday ala an air bourne to the laddered opponet.

He is innovative and the move was off the hook @ first ..

It didn't help that I was drinking because it took me about 5 mins to get the fact I had just seen that to sink in. Thank god they replayed it 50billion times ..

I loved it. It shows that the Viper can strike any where at any time. He didn't just roll over, he elevated off the ground several feet. It is hard to get to a standing position and jump all in about 2 and a half seconds time. No one is safe from strike. Even when you think he is beaten, he stills gets you.

That being said, what can they possibly do to top this? I am positive that this should have been saved for the Pay Per View as it would have definitely have brought up the value of the match. Possible spot of the year if Bourne would have been coming down off of a ladder. If they decide to try that this Sunday, I am sure that it would not get the same feeling as if it had been done there fresh.

To me this was one of those Joey Styles' "OMG!" moments. Granted there are some other moments up there, but this has to be THE sickest RKO so far this year. I know the yr is only half over right now, but I think this is up there with when he RKO'd RVD to where he was standing upside down on his head. I think this is up there with when Y2J did the codebreaker to..(gosh I forget) whoever was trying to do a top rope move. But I still thought this was pretty damn good....you know they HAD to have PERFECT timing to practice that move...I still give MAD respect to both of them for that. I can't wait to see how that gets topped at MITB in KC on sunday night.

This was one of the best spots on Raw for a long time. I don't remember the last time I shouted OMG at the television. I have to admit that the RKO wasn't done to perfection but I was just excited that they tried to do it. I can only imagine how hard it is to connect the RKO during a shooting star press. I am amazed they had the guts to do that spot on live tv. For all intensive purposes the move was great.

Been a long time since I saw something that sick! When Orton was getting up, I thought he was going to get up, stand up and when Bourne turned around, hit the RKO. That though, was awesome and I freaked the F out! Mid air of all things and nailed that RKO! What's best about it is that it happened on Raw and gets a chance for the ENTIRE fanbase to watch it for free and help pull us into the PPV. Credit to both Orton and Bourne. That move was awesome.

Incredible move! I read about it online before I saw my recording of the show and still shouted "OH MY GOD" when Randy nailed the RKO on Bourne. WHAT A MOVE! Even the slightest error could have broken Bourne's neck so credit to the two of them for pulling it off!

Orton for champ!

What an RKO! Absolutely sick.

I have no dispute whether Michael's SCM on Benjamin was better, but if you couldn't enjoy seeing this then you're too cynical for my tastes.

It could have been amazing...but we could barely see it. The cameras were out of place. I think you guys are amazed that he did it more so than actually seeing it. Be honest, when they said RKO is when you got excited, then you actually prayed for a replay. WWE messed this one up.

To be fair though, they did show a replay afterwards from a couple of better angles, and it did look amazing. Though I agree, WWE could have used better camera angles.

It was one of the best moves of all-time. It's moves like this that put people like Orton's name higher on being a Future Hall of Famer. It was amazing, Orton just hit it perfectly, no drag at all. I literally flipped out of my chair when I saw this happen...it was just amazing.

I think that this sequence of events between bourne and orton just further proves my point that the best finishers in wrestling are the ones which can be done at anytime to anybody.....If you look at a move like the f-5 or the jackhammer....these moves, unless done by guys who are 15 lbs short of gorilla status, kinda take away from the superstar because what happens when the weight of the opposing wrestler is a problem? this is why Orton's finisher is perfect....it can be done to any superstar, under and circumstances and more importantly, can be done when least expected...Triple H's pedigree is a move that takes such a long time to do, that the suprise factor is not present, nor does it have the "WOW" factor in terms of anticipation...Although Air Bourne is a move that cannot just come out of nowhere....the anticipation factor is still high as well as, probably, the most important factor for someone of his size, it is a move that can be done on every wrestler in the WWE....THought?

I thought it was impressive but i didn't mark out beacuse I've seen better RKO's.Back in 2004 Orton would jump like 6ft when he hit the RKO,that was amazing

At first, I was amazed, but I saw the replays, and while extremely impressive, Orton hardly got off the ground, and grabbed Bourne just before he hit the ground. It was pretty much a missed SSP with a slight grab at the end. I think it was really good, but it could've been much better, the camera angle was awful, and Orton should've gotten up earlier.

That was a great moment, and I flipped out when I saw it. People complain about Orton not getting up high enough, but I don't think that is an issue... this was extremely hard to pull off the way they did and I commend both Bourne and Orton. This will go down as one of the greatest moves in Monday Night Raw history.

This was one of those moments where everyone marks out and goes wild, out of all the crazy spots, Orton and Bourne trusted each other so well with this spot, it was executed so smoothly Evan sold it so well, and Orton was just wild afterwards. Because of the Nexus angle/storyline, everything on RAW has been stepped up a notch or two which has been great.

AWESOME, this was a great move showing how great these two men are because of the timing and reliability for each other. It was one of those great unpredictable moments that could make people tune in to see. Too bad NXT or Smackdown don't do much unpredictability and show moves like this. Imagine a GTS into a Killswitch(if it is possible) or a 619 senton into a Trouble in Paradise.

Sorry for getting carried away but it would be great to see more moves like these. Here is a video if you want to relive the moment:

I was in absolute awe of this move, and how smoothly it was executed. When Bourne jumped into the air, I was sure that he was going to land on Orton but out of nowhere comes the RKO and BAM ~ Evan is laid out on the mat and Randy just goes nuts (like the crowd).

It was an awesome move, and its this kinda stuff that keeps Me watching the RAW program :)

I think the best way that this move could have been pulled off would have been at MITB... allow me to get overzealous here and say perhaps an airbourne from the top turnbuckle to the outside of the ring on say Jericho only to have orton run up from behind and rko bourne to the mat (or in the hopes of a truly amazing holy shit moment ONTO Jericho). But seeing as WWE doesnt want to risk their talent that way then maybe a normal airbourne with randy showing up to hit rko ... as to the look of it, carlitos was better because of the fact that orton got on his feet for it. it was still EPIC tho.

This is defianantly the OMG moment of the year, "Even getting the man who made the phrase famous say OH MY GOD" and was definantly the highlight of Raw. The must have been practicing this move for a while now as they executed it down to near perfection.

If Otron had of caught Bourne higher in the air, it would have been one of the sickest moves ever performed, but with the timing being near to impossible, the fact that he even caught him in the air was absolutly sick.

WWE has done their job here as the whole point of the Raw before a PPV is to get people interested in the PPV, and after seeing this on Raw, you have to think that Bourne is gonna wanna get revenge during the MITB, and a huge spot will occur during the match.
