3.3.11 Vignette; Is Sting Is Coming Back to TNA?

OT: All this Sting stuff over the past month made me dust off my copy of "The Crow" on DVD the other night and, well, both TNA and WWE have succeeded in reminding me what a great movie that was.

To be honest, the only reason I wanted Sting to go to WWE was so that we could finally get a nice, definitive, three disc set spanning the man's career. WWE may not do too many things right these days but their home video department has been kickin' ass since '04. I actually respect Sting for sticking to his laurels and not going to WWE because of legitimate beef he has with them. Good for him.

TNA needs Sting more than WWE does anyway.

First "The Crow" is an AWESOME movie and my personal favorite.

Secondly, to my knowledge Sting never had a beef with WWE, he just didn't approve of the content during the attitude era. He is a devoted christian and all the violence and sex of AE turned him away. Last I understood, he hasn't been too happy with TNA. But in the end TNA can offer up a lighter, less travel schedule.

Personally, and I like Sting, but it wont kill me or disappoint me if he never shows up in WWE or goes in the HOF. I really think Sting is made out to be very overrated. He was a wrestler that used pop culture to get MORE over with fans.

Indeed, The Crow is spectacular. I've been a fan of that movie since I was a kid. Honestly, when you bring up how he used pop culture to get over with more fans, you hit the nail on the head in my case. The Crow gimmick he had in WCW sold me on the guy big time.

Yeah, maybe beef was a strong word. I meant exactly what you explained. I too think the schedule has a big part in it.

Well at least since it looks obvious that it is Sting, at least we can put all the rumors aside about him coming to WWE or not coming. The big question will be how will he debut next week on Impact if that is in fact him. For newer users, please don't type a spoiler and say its your opinion because its not an opinion.

It's in my opinion that he should debut by clubbing Jeff Hardy in the head relentlessly with his bat until people realize it isn't in the script...

And Shawn Michaels, as well as myself, get the smile back

I'm disappointed in TNA. This is the first episode in awhile for me and I just palmfaced myself due to the ripoff. Here's a question. Why is Sting wanting to hang around in TNA when TNA is becoming as repulsive (in Sting's mind) as WWE was during the Attitude era? Think about it, Sting didn't want to go to the WWE because they were to...edgy, but WWE is PG now, TNA is the edgy brand now. Come on Sting, why?

LMAOOOOOO!

I'd just like to say this to every single WWE fan that thought Sting was going to WWE: eat shit.

That being said, this promo was SUCH a slap in the face of the WWE fans more than anything. And as you'd expect, I loved every second of it.

I bet it's Sting. Who else could it be.

OMG IT'Z UNDERTAKER HE'S COMING TO TNA! <--- Ridiculious? That's how WWE fans sounded when they said Sting is coming to WWE. Enjoy your night.

Good point. Hadn't considered that myself. Impact tonight was pretty edgy. I thought Taz was gonna imitate Jim Ross's "STONE COLD! STONE COLD!" jargon the way he was carrying on about ODB's tits.

I loved it! I think it is just funny how everyone wanted the 2-21-11 videos to be Sting, so TNA wanted to rub it in and do it the way the people wanted it to be done. (But I am sure they will still screw it up more sooner than later)

This, more than anything else, has completely turned me off to TNA forever. The reason why is quite simple. Instead of TNA setting themselves apart from the WWE brand, they ALWAYS copy what they do. This, being another one of their "creative" ideas. Everyone knew it wasn't Sting coming to WWE weeks ago. So instead of them re-debuting Sting in a manner that would really make people wanna anticipate his arrival, what do they do? They do the same damn thing WWE did with The Undertaker, who by far, is the bigger of the two stars. This is comical and sad. They go from copying, once again, the nWo (which, I know was never a WWE creation), to copying the Four Horsemen and now copying what WWE does. What next TNA? How about bringing out a Rock look-a-like. How about turning Mike Tenay heel and having him feud with Taz? How about bringing in someone from The New York Jets since they couldn't get anyone from Green Bay? Er, ah, you guys are already doing that.

This is pointless, stupid, repeitive, and predictable. TNA is just dying to be WWE so bad that they do not realize they are killing their product. What a joke. So what Sting's coming back? Sting is determined to be the big fish in a small pond. If that's what he wants to do, fine. BUT, it doesn't mean we should get all beside ourselves because Sting's making his 500th return to TNA. It's not even relivant anymore. SMH...Thanks for the laugh tonight TNA.

Come on guys, no need to start decrying the vignette for it's lack of creativity, it was just an inside joke at WWE's expense.

My first reaction wasn't "how dare they!", it was "oh my god, that's so funny!".

OMG OMG OMG...
Undertaker is coming to TNA. It is clearly Taker. It even spells it in the smoke on the numbers at the end.

AH... Okay now that that's over... for the people saying its a ripoff... um DUH! Its supposed to be. That's the whole damn point of it. The whole idea was advertising Sting while at the same time making fun of one of the most overblown over analyzed vignettes in recent memory. I actually laughed when I saw it and not because I thought it was lame, but because I thought TNA purposely ripping of the 2-21-11 promo was funny as hell. It wasn't intended to be creative. Its not like they tried to hide what they were mocking. In fact they tried to make it as obvious as possible. I don't remeber anyone in the 90s claiming that Gillberg was a ripoff of Goldberg and that the WWE(F) needed to be more creative.

TNA sure has an inferiority complex. So for this to make an sense to anybody, they'd have to watch WWE to know this. It's just comes off as lame.

Also I fan it funny that some people think this is an "Fuck you" to WWE because WWE never alluded to that the vignette to be for Sting. In fact it was clearly Taker by the time the second and third promos aired but no these dumb people who think they're so smart kept thinking Sting.

It's really not the fact that it was funny, it's the fact that number one, the thing was so obvious it hurt, and two, that TNA did it yet again.

Do people not remember the discussion going around about "the surprise of the year, guaranteed!"? Well, number one, they killed any "surprise" in the true meaning of the word, and two, it's another "earth shattering event" that doesn't live up to the hype. Like I said, Sting to TNA is not groundbreaking. It's actually the more plausible scenario and lacks surprise.

The vignettes for Raw gave people in the wrestling community hope of seeing something different, something legendary for this time and place. It wasn't about WWE or TNA, or any of the fans that like to bicker amongst themselves like grade school children. It was about something new, something fresh, something to be able to look back on and say "I watched that happen!"

Now, all we get is Stinger back in TNA, probably getting involved w/Immortal (again), and nothing much of a surprise unless they announce they're going to start taping live on the road. Which is still not the "biggest surprise of the year, guaranteed!" Sigh. I can't believe people can't see past their brand bickering to see the bigger picture. (And yes, if Cena was put into this same scenario I'd still say the same thing, not whine about Cena leaving WWE or laugh because they got him back. I'd still see the bigger picture and wish for the long shot.)

Sting is TNA is a non-event.

All you TNA marks out there have to realize that Sting coming back to TNA does nothing for TNA or Sting. TNA will continue to draw a 1.0 rating and 500 fans to their live events and yet some people out here in this forum will claim it is the best thing in the history of wrestling.

TNA is garbage. I watched a full episode of it tonight for the first time and it was not compelling. Dear God, Ric Flair is OLD. He looks pathetic and AJ Styles certainly did not come across as a stud beating up a 60 year old man.

Sting deserves one final run in the main event. TNA is not the main event. TNA is a territory, nothing more, nothing less.

The 2-21-11 segments were awesome because it gave people hope that Sting might finally get the send-off he so richly deserves.

Instead TNA does 3-3-11 and simply put no one will watch to see Sting that did not watch this week.

Sting, you used to be the man, now you are a past his prime wrestler in a second rate wrestling company.

It's not about the fact that TNA copied the WWE or that it was a shot at those optimistic that Sting may be coming to the WWE, or even that TNA was giving a big FU to WWE, it's about the fact that TNA blatantly lied. I mean come on, "The biggest surprise of the year--guaranteed?" Sting coming back to TNA for the third fourth or twenty fourth time, the biggest surprise of the year? I think if shows how desperate this company is. To falsely advertise yourselves in order to up your ratings is pathetic. WWE never even hinted that Sting was coming to the WWE. The internet community made it into that. Hell, the second week they aired the vignettes, they had a Johnny freaking Cash song playing to tell us it was The Undertaker for crying out loud. So for them to say it's "the biggest surprise of the year--guaranteed," well, they just showed how weak they've become as a company. What a disappointment....

I swear, I'm waiting for someone to analyze the smoke at the end and see "STING" encoded in it. I'm gonna bust out laughing if anyone attempts it.

Salo...
I've paused and re-wound the end date and if you pause it at the just the right time, you can see what looks like a logo in the smoke...
After putting it through brightness/contrast filters I can definitely state that it is the logo for Wrestlemania 27 with an "X" through it.

I smell a TNA-WWE war...hey...wait...

...could it be?...

I think I just cracked the code...
It's NOT Jericho! It's Not STING! It's NOT HBK, Batista, Goldberg, Goldust
or any one else we would ever expect. If I'm correct (and I think I am!!!) then I'll have to do some audio filtering first to verify ... back in a sec....

OK...I'm back and I'm shaking with excitement...
Are you ready for this IWC....I think TNA was right when they said that this would be the surprise of the year if not the century IMHO....ooohhh...I'm getting giddy now....OK...here goes:

1) Someone shown in Leather Trenchcoat and Leather boots out in the rain. Who wears leather a lot? A Sadomasochist. That's right S & M
2) I just put the promo through an Audio Filter to remove the Rain, thunder and lightning sound effects and I heard something in the background...
Music...but not just any music...a familiar tune....I think it's called "Here Comes The Money"

Case Closed:
S & M: Who has those same initials and uses "Here Comes The Money" as his theme...that's Right...Shane O'Mac himself: Shane McMahon.
He is coming to buy TNA and wipeout his father and WWE forever.

Brilliant, Dixie...you finally did it. The evil Empire will fall on 3-3-11.

:wtf:

WOW that really toped 2-21-11 and The Rock return, " TNA TNA TNA".Did anyone one notice that the guy (Sting) in the 3-3-11 video was walking down the steps. That has to mean he is heading to TNA. Why he was walking down, because you can't get no lower than TNA . The Icon Sting can finally RIP, with the rest of TNA.

Come on guys, no need to start decrying the vignette for it's lack of creativity, it was just an inside joke at WWE's expense.

My first reaction wasn't "how dare they!", it was "oh my god, that's so funny!".

When people jump up and down on how better TNA is than WWE, but then they pull this, last week when Jeff Hardy low blows RVD in front of Ken Anderson and Anderson doesn't DQ Hardy (you would think he would since they're feuding), Hernadez jumps AJ Styles for no reason whatsoever, too many backstage segments for Velvet Sky, etc. The list goes on and on. Anyway. The lack of creativity screams at you. The redundant promos for the same person screams at you. I wanted to see Sting in the WWE before he actually ends up retiring, it's every wrestling fans dream, but when people say that TNA slapped WWE in the face with this rip-off, I ask how?

Because, like I said, it was us who wanted Sting in the WWE, WWE never claimed it to be Sting. TNA didn't slap WWE in the face, they slapped themselves in the face for their lack of creativity.

There's real no doubt that the 3/3/11 vignette involves Sting. If you slow the video down and look at the mystery figure closely, he does appear to be using a walker to help him get around. I'm sure if we could bet a close up of his pockets, we would see a senior citizens discount card. If there are to be any more mystery vignettes, possibly online, I'm sure we will see a second mystery figure, which of course will be Hogan. After all, he has to intrude upon everything in TNA and put himself front and centre.

Joking aside, I am glad Sting is returning to TNA. They need him while WWE absolutely does not. This should also end all discussion of an induction into the WWE Hall of Fame, where Sting clearly does not belong in the first place. Allows WWE to continue with it's youth movement. My only question is what happens when the giggles about the video parody are over and TNA realizes that Sting is still 52, hobbled by injuries, and ultimately will prove nothing by returning to the iMPACT zone. He'll spike then ratings to a lofty 1.3, and then it's back to then same old same old (no pun intended).

I haven't watched TNA in about 2 months because it didn't appeal to me anymore. I turn on my television tonight just to see what this buzz of Sting was. I thought Sting would interfere in the main event tonight somehow or make a surprise appearance with a promo but that didn't happen. Instead, there is a promo at the end of the program that looked similar to the 2-21-11 promo for the Undertaker. I knew Sting would not return to the WWE, we all wanted to though, when I saw the 2-21-11 promo, but why did TNA have to rip off the 2-21-11 promo with their 3-3-11 promo for Sting? We all know it's going to be Sting. I would rather have the lights go out at the end of the main event than watch that 3-3-11 promo. Some of you say TNA gets the last laugh having Sting, but the way I see it, the TNA creative team gives Raw and Smackdown ratings by watching them every week trying to find what they can rip off the WWE on their program. To me it shows how lazy TNA really is to make their own show and develop something new rather than bringing old guys back and not pushing younger talent, but that's for another topic. In all, TNA messed up with this and should stop taking hits on WWE because I feel they focus on WWE way more they do about TNA. This was so bad it couldn't have been any worse if they showed the Undertaker's 2-21-11 promo.

THE STINGER IS HOME BABY!

And i absolutely loved the big 'FUCK YOU' to the WWE. You can hype and put your spin on promo's but everyone knows the Stinger is a TNA/WCW boy and will always be. I hate, despise and loath anything WWE so for all us TNA marks, this was a pretty cool moment that actually adds a HEAP of hype for next weeks show as everyone knows it is Sting who is coming.

It's a pretty spontaneous thing to do and it is going to piss off the WWE marks to the moon and back. So sit back my fellow TNA fans and watch them air their anger and whining over the promo's and dont bite back. This was the whole point, to piss off anyone (fans in the IWC, workers etc) so that they air their anger and get more people tuning in.

3/3/11

@Bilottag Dude you are looking way to far into this. Its not Shane O Mac its Sting. He isnt buying TNA like he did with WCW his music wasnt playing there was no Wrestlemania sign with an X thru it. You my friend are having massive hallucinations or just delusional period if you honestly believe what you are saying. TNA simply copied WWE in all that talk of the biggest surprise of the year was hype so people would watch the show. We now know TNA is bringing Sting back with a lame attempt to copy the WWE cause they can think of anything original themselves. I like TNA's roster of wrestlers and the matches these guy are capable of putting together but whoever runs the company and writes the shows and is in charge of vignettes is PATHETIC!!!! Come up with your own ideas for god sakes dont copy something that WWE just did TNA should be embarrased.

I don't think this was a "fuck you" to WWE and their fans. Sting going back to TNA is as stale as Undertaker coming back to the WWE. Also, this promo only adds to the idea of TNA being second rate. The biggest event of this wrestling year is the Rock's return. 2/21/11 didn't top it, and neither will 3/3/11.

It is NOT Sting! I say, Tyler BlacK, or Undertaker

The promo is clearly for two people. If you pause it, you can see the Undertaker's logo on the wall.

Jokes, I think its funny. Of course this took ZERO creativity, but why not play off of it. TNA taking a jab at WWE again, which isnt very smart but atleast this jab has meaning. Ha WE HAVE STING AND YOU DONT!

Yea we also have a fan base and real wrestlers. No a bunch of stupid has-beens running around the ring. Another pathetic move by TNA. Does TNA actually think they have a chance of beeing number 1. If they do there just more pathetic, and if they dont, more power to them for knowing the obvious. WWE FOREVER!!!!
