2014 NHL Playoffs LD

Quick scares me at times. I roll with him, but he gave up a lot of goals this postseason, especially against San Jose. I would say the Kings have a great chance in the series if Quick is on point. But I have to concede that Lundqvist has been far superior these playoffs.

So they get Richards for high sticking, but Jeff Carter gets busted open and no call?

See, that's messed up. You absolutely cannot make a call like that with a minute and a half left in regulation in the goddamn Finals.

KINGS WIN!

This is gonna get hotter as the series goes on. NY is firing on all cylinders on Saturday.

Girardi ate the biggest dick he could find this game. Just nothing but giveaways all night, including a primary assist on the Kings' OT goal.

3 hours to puck drop for Game #2 boys. Close game in game #1(at least score ways) that ended in OT. With no team in the final there was no accompanying stress or heart attack so I'm hoping for more OT. Good luck to both teams and here's to a hopeful game 7.

1. I hate OT Playoff Hockey when my team is playing.
2. If the Rangers got called for Goalie Interference earlier, why not the Kings? Bullshit call.
3. I hate OT Playoff Hockey, when my team is playing.

I'm sounding biased here, but King was pushed into Lundqvist. Based on the replays he was trying to maintain balance and McDonagh's momentum pushed King.

Quick had a lot of luck tonight. But LA Kings are playing all periods and not backing off and are pressing forward and playing like a team that wants the CUP!

Way to ruin my birthday, Rangers!

Nah, I really can't hate (long). Kings are clearly the better team. More depth, more pedigree, getting the calls, getting the bounces. It happens.

I said last night, the worst part about the loss isn't even the loss — it's the fact that sometimes you really do need to lose in order to learn how to win (think Pittsburgh in '08/'09), and there are a number of players on this team this year, many of whom were pretty integral to their success, who can ill afford to take a second shot (Nash, Richards especially).

It's also stating the obvious, but there's also an issue of players who simply do not play well in the playoffs again not playing well in the playoffs, like Nash. Stepan has redeemed himself a bit, and playing through a broken jaw is balls as it gets, but ultimately if you want to win, you need winners.

One of the things I've heard and read, particularly from the Kings themselves, is that they're not necessarily great during the regular season, but they seem to switch to another level once the playoffs start. As for the Rangers, the came out smoking the first two games, but idk about last night. Mind you, they have bounced back before, and I'm pretty sure they'll fight tooth and nail come Wednesday. Yet if Quick has a game like last night, it's a wrap.

Even the most die hard of Rangers fans shouldn't be overly disappointed with how the Finals have played out thus far. Let's face it, at the start of the playoffs, did anyone really believe that the Rangers had a snowball's chance in hell of winning the Stanley Cup? For that matter, did anyone expect them to even make the Finals in the first place? New York has had a good run, one that they and the fans should be proud of. But at the end of the day, they have overachieved this post season, and their shortcomings have finally caught up with them.

Truth be told, had the Canadiens not performed a minor miracle in the second round of the playoffs, the Rangers wouldn't have even seen the Finals. Because there was no way in hell they were getting past the Bruins.
