2011-12 NHL Playoffs LD

What a poor and undisciplined effort on the part of the blue shirts tonight! And way too many cheap shots as well. It's one thing to play physical hockey, and I understand being frustrated. But what's up with the cheap shots?

Bruins fan talking about cheap shots. There's a new one :P. I agree though. I'm reading some comments on tsn.ca about how Brodeur embellished it and after seeing the replay I just laughed. Brodeur didn't get punched hard, but he didn't embellish it either. Not even close. Having said that, Kovalchuk should be suspended, you just don't spear guys, hard or soft, but Callahan did give his head a bit of a push when he was down on the ice. I think, objectively, that LA will eat the winner of this series alive anyway, especially if it's the Rangers cause they look out of gas to me I don't care what Torts says. How this series is tied at 2 is beyond me.

P.S. It should be no wonder to anyone why no one outside of NY is going for the Rangers. Just look at the guy behind the bench.

So I assume Rupp gets ejected from the game, and has an upcoming meeting with Brendan Shanahan?

LMAO. For what? Shoving Brodeur? What is this, the Crosby Hockey League where you can't touch stars?

He gave him a light shove, and Brodeur jumped back like he just got shot out of a fuckin' cannon. Give me a break.

First off, LOL and rep for that epic Bruins line. How's Milan Lucic doing these days, eh?

Second, I actually agree with most of what you said here. Kovalchuk should have been ejected for spearing, which comes with an automatic 5:00 major and game misconduct, and he likely should have a hearing for intent to injure, but I wouldn't be shocked if that last bit never happened.

And I'll be the first to validate your criticisms of our head coach. Trust me, he's an asshole. He's effective, but he's an asshole nonetheless.

Obvious gross embellishment aside, correct me if I'm wrong, but I still think it is against the rules to skate through the goalie's crease and punch him in the face. If someone did that to Lundqvist, you'd be all over it and you know it.

The Rangers really don't want to do this the easy way, do they IDR? Reminds me of my Bruins of last season, going the distance in every round. I guess it remains to be seen if they can follow their example all the way to the end.

Signed: hatehabsforever (for the forseeable future) :)

Yes, I would, for the fact that I'd want to see the team retaliate, not see the NHL suspend that player. If he skated through the crease and speared Brodeur, or broke his stick over his head, or seriously injured him, that's one thing, but he gave him a shove because Brodeur was yapping at him (go watch the replay), and Brodeur sold it like the fuckin' Olympic diver he is.

There's no reason for the league to step in here. The ONLY play where they could have done something was the Kovalchuk spear, but no hearings have been filed, so that won't happen either.

As for the rest, I agree — the Rangers do not make anything easy. In fact, they never have. Not since '94, and even then it took them 7 against the Devils and 7 against the Canucks despite being up 3-1 in the Vancouver series. It's what keeps me on the edge of my seat all year.

What do you think of the Kings chances tonight, IDR? I need my man Quick to be on top of his game if they want to close this series out.

The Yotes won what was, up until last night, the ugliest game of the playoffs IMO, so I like the Kings' chances. At best, Phoenix may scrape together one more desperation win, but ultimately the Kings are the better of the two clubs and will win be it tonight or in Game 6.

1-0 Coyotes. Still agree with IDR though. Expecting LA to win this game. If not they will win game 6 at home. Absolutely no way this goes 7 IMHO.

Which ever team wins the East is gonna have their hands full with LA in the finals. Whether it's Kings/Devils, or Kings/Rangers, should be a fun Stanley Cup finals to watch.

I assure you, if the Devils win, I'm done with the NHL this year. I would rather watch a years' worth of WWE programming than watch one minute of Devils' hockey that I don't have to watch (like when we're playing them).

To have that team even competing for a Cup again, let alone with the opportunity to actually win just pours gallons of salt into a gaping wound.

Fuck the Devils.

If the Rangers lose, you will not find a bigger Kings fan on earth than in me.
