Your Opinon On: A 60 Year Old Man's Opinion

So talked with my dad on Christmas, and the guy is the guy that got me hooked on the business. He's a nonsmark. Doesn't read magazines about wrestling, doesn't get online, just watches the show. Whether it was WCW Saturday Night, or Monday Nitro/Raw, the guy simply tunes in and doesn't pay attention to the stuff behind the scenes. So, I figured I would post some of these gems.

Most of this stuff surrounded the 15th Anniversary of Raw:
On Triple H's Big Dick Johnson reference: It must be nice to be married to the bosses daughter so he can get away with that.

On Chris Jericho: The Look needs to go.

On the Jericho/JBL Feud: JBL will use the word "queer" in reference to Jericho at least once.

On Raw: Raw is almost unwatchable since Cena has left, ouch.

Steve Blackman: Looks good still, he should be competing.

On Ric Flair: Should never retire.

Bobby Lashley: Bobby Lashley will be WWE champion in 2008.

On CM Punk: Does he honestly think he looks cool. How can people actually like this guy?

On Jeff Hardy: He looks stupid, he should cut his hair.

That's all I can remember, but I'll make sure to try and remember more of what he said. I think he's spot on with Jericho.

He couldn't be more wrong here! RAW has been good since Cena left! The promos are better, the matches have improved and there are more people stepping and above all other wrestlers held back by Cena have come thru like Hardy, who would never get a lick of the title if Cena was there! Cena made raw unwatchable, it was the same boring crap everyweek, bad promo, bad match with the same bad moves...odds stack against him he wins in spite..Champ is still huuuurrrrrrr! If I have to hear Cena do that one more time I will go on a murderous rampage! When Cena comes back if he is put right back into the main event picture and wins the title I am finished with McMahon and his product until Cena leaves the damned company!

Steve Blackman: Looks good still, he should be competing.

Blackman has an injury he can't, and he is boring as hell anyway.

On Ric Flair: Should never retire.

Should have retired 10 years ago. Flair doesn't have agility or in ring ability to continue, he looks sloppy and old in the ring.

True, but I hope not as he has the chrisma of a toadstool and looks like a battletoad.

On CM Punk: Does he honestly think he looks cool. How can people actually like this guy?

He is cool and has excellent in ring talent. I am very pleased vince has kept the title on him so long.

On Jeff Hardy: He looks stupid, he should cut his hair.

And flush is career. I don't have any problem with his look.

In the Attitude Era, it would have flown nightly, but in today's more kidcentric showings, only Triple H gets away with that stuff. I really don't think he delivers his line that funny, he's only funny because no one else is allowed to do half the stuff he does.

On Chris Jericho: The Look needs to go.

Agreed. The new look of Jericho simply isn't working, at least for me. He doesn't look like a rock star anymore, he looks like a former boy band member. Either the outfit needs to change or the hair needs to come back.

Unfortunately, yes. JBL will make this homophobic blast, and then the next day most will be on here defending JBL as some great generator of heel heat. Most forget to realize that JBL's promos, outside of being racist, homophobic, or xenophobic, suck. It's cheap heat generators, and that's what JBL's title reign was. He only got the title because of the cheap heat he received after goose stepping in Germany. Other then being a real life asshole, the guy is just a fat bully.

I haven't watched, so I can't tell honestly. If the result of John Cena being injured is Triple H making Jeff Hardy into a star, I honestly take John Cena. Cena is at least watchable and capable of putting on a good matc, can't say the same thing about Jeff, which color is my hair this week?, Hardy.

Ric Flair should have retired 15 years ago. Flair won't retire because he owes his ex wives too much money.

Should be WWE Champion, but not in 2008. I hate putting titles on young guys myself. They haven't been in the business long enough to appreciate what they have. Why people hate on Lashley is beyond me.

I think my dad is out of touch with the youth of today, but I have to agree. As far as his look, he'll never be a WHC or WWE champion. He's not marketable. I despise the hypocritical thinking of a CM Punk anyway. It's horrible to drink or do drugs and hurt his inner body, but it's okay for him to ink up and pierce his outer body? Sounds a bit silly to me.

Well the apple certainly doesn't fall far from the tree. Hardy is a clown, and he looks like one as well. If this is the direction the business is going in, then I honestly need to quit watching it.

For someone who doesn't know of anything beyond what he sees on t.v., how'd he know about Triple H. & Stephanie McMahon being married in real life? I mean, I realize the truth of it.. & even the jokes they do on-screen, but they haven't officially ever made it "real" have they?

I agree with him on this though, Triple H. before Stephanie wouldn't of gotten away with half of this. Hell, even the deal with Katie Vick could've got him a Mohammad Hassan ending.

Is he refering to the spikey haired gayish look? Cause I agree. Jericho shouldn't be wearing the same outfits he wore before. The hair completely leads the look in a wrong direction.

Yeah.. the ouch part has me too. I'm assuming your Father is the A-typical face mark? He doesn't like any bad guy, & even dislikes the good guys that cheat?

Ironically, I was thinking the same thing. When Blackman came out, he looked to be the best one of the entire group that still looked like he could go fully. Its a shame he never had a true gimmick to carry him.

Is that the 60 year old man inside of him talking, from when they were both 30? I honestly enjoy Ric Flair of all the older wrestlers from that generation.. but Flair doesn't need to remain around for another 10 yrs. unless its on commentary for the latter portion of the time. -- which I don't think Flair can do commentary.

I can see that coming true. Hopefully it won't be a forgotten reign, or misdirected reign though.

That's all I can remember, but I'll make sure to try and remember more of what he said. I think he's spot on with Jericho.

I like hearing what older people think of today's wrestling industry. Especially compared to when they remembered it. I can't wait until I'm 50-60 explaining why I loved good old-fashioned storylines, compared to the stuff we'll see in the future.

Hover rings, disembowing abilities without actually hurting the other guy, floating heads in jars doing commentary, & Ric Flair with the longest undefeated streak ever known to man.

All my Father can do is watch it & say "he didn't even hit him, this shit is fake, how can you watch this crap?" Then he'll turn around with segments like McMahon getting blown up & ask what just happened, as if he thought it was real. He's pushing 70, I just give him a break.

My Mother on the other hand, will ask every other day why Sting isn't on Smackdown, because she seen him the night before (on iMPACT!) or when The Rock is coming back. She's also dead-set on knowing Chyna is a man.

Mine- not so much. Wrestling is like a sin or something around here, so I have to sneak it in, and let me tell you trying to sneak in spandex-wearing men/women grappling with each other is so not easy.

See that's the thing, if you're not a fan, then you can't understand the appeal of it, when ever my parents say stuff like that I just respond with "well I can't see how you can find watching a bunch of cars driving around in a big circle entertaining either" (my parents are big NASCAR fans)

Lol, they generally are great, and I'm one of the most spoilt people I know lol. But yeah, I may not have watched wrwestling if it wasn't for my mum. My life would be so different now without wrestling.
