Your Favorite Chris Jericho Matches

Ok I searched long and hard through the forums to find this topic, and just couldn't find it. Ever since Jericho came into his own in WCW and then went to the WWE, he has been a longtime favorite of mine, putting on great matches and having memorable feuds with many top superstars...

Here's a list of my favorite Y2J matches, in no particular order:

Wrestlemania 19: Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho - Two of my top favorite performers, ever. Lots of passion behind this match, with HBK returning to the WWE not even a year before, after missing 4 years of action. Jericho claimed he wanted to be the 'next Shawn Michaels' growing up, but then decided to concentrate on becoming 'the 1st Chris Jericho.' Great back-and-forth action, with each performer stealing the other's signature moves. Y2J would come out on the short end of this one, but these two "stole the show" that year, as Y2J put it in a promo at Backlash.

No Mercy 2001: The Rock vs. Chris Jericho, WCW Championship - Y2J would finally capture "the big one" at this event, and he took it from a man as charismatic on the mic and in the ring as himself. At the time, there could not have been two more over men in the company. These two put on an entertaining match, with the crowd solidly behind each performer. The Rock was almost out the door in a sense, so who better to step up and fill his shoes than "The Ayatollah of Rock N' Rolla."

Vengeance 2001: The Rock / Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Chris Jericho, Undisputed WWE Championship - The cementing of Jericho's legacy, something he still boasts about with pride to this day: beating The Brahma Bull and the Rattlesnake in the same damn night. Not exactly technical beauties, these two matches are only here because they helped establish Y2J as a main-event player for good. Even though he was badly booked and pretty much squashed at 'Mania X8 for the title, this night was, and is, Y2J's coolest accomplishment.

Monday Night Raw, 2001: Triple H & Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Chris Benoit & Chris Jericho, World Tag Team Championship - Jericho and Benoit complemented each other well, and were both way over at the time. This was an exciting match because of the atmosphere. It was also the match where HHH sustained his infamous quadricep injury, missing almost a year of action before returning to win the Royal Rumble in 2002. The ending saw Y2J and The Crippler go over for the belts, an exciting time for myself as thes two guys represented change on the horizon.

WCW Souled Out 2000:
Perry Saturn vs. Chris Jericho, Loser Wears a Dress Match - A match that was more entertainment value, although these two had enough talent to tell somewhat of a story in the physical aspect. This bout is significant to me because it was just hilarious. Jericho was escorted to the ring by his "Jericho Personal Security," or Ralphus...who could forget Ralphus? The ending saw Saturn have to put on the dress, a sleek leopard-print number, as Y2J danced around the ring like a little girl.

The Great American Bash 2008: Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho - Another match that wasn't really a technical masterpiece, but more of another turning point in Jericho's career. Y2J brutalized a bloody, broken Michaels in an unrelenting manner. With this match, and other actions (smashing HBK's face into a TV...and punching his wife in the face at Summerslam), Y2J would no longer be the smiling, joking, laughing character we all knew, but a bitter, sick, and demented individual. Gone were the long tights and hilarious promos. They were replaced with, as John Cena eloquently put it, an "angry man in a suit." Picked this match because of the sheer brutality and what it all came to represent.

So there are my favorite matches from Jericho's career. Of course, there could be a longer list, but then that would be a lot of typing. I want to know what your favorite Y2J matches were, from the past and the present. This is not a place to discuss the old vs. the new Chris Jericho, although there are some interesting differences. Just want to know what your favorite Y2J matches are and why...

My favorite Chris Jericho match is by far his match with Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania 19. I feel that their match at ‘Mania is vastly underrated and it doesn’t get praised enough. It deserves way more praise than it gets but I don’t see it. That match is one of the best matches at Wrestlemania ever and one of my top 10 favorites. That match is everything that a wrestling match should be and more. A lot of the young guys in the WWE should study that match and try to adapt what they learn to all of their matches. The match told a great story from beginning to end. The wrestling was phenomenal, very entertaining and I would give the wrestling a 10/10, or maybe even more. And the ending was spectacular. After Shawn and Jericho embrace, Jericho gives Shawn a low-blow and leaves. This match was truly a great match overall, if I was asked what match that I’ve seen is nearly perfect this one would probably be the first one to come to mind. It was really a 5 star match and it hasn’t gotten the praise it rightfully deserves. This match is definitely on the top 10 matches at Wrestlemania for me and for all the matches I’ve seen. I honestly cannot say enough about this match because you just have to see it to admire it properly. Hell, I’m feeling good so here’s the match:
