You Can Take A Swing At My Wrestlemania XXXI LD

Really thought the crowd were going to shit all over the main event and they were trying to but when reigns put lesnar into the post everyone finally come around only for Rollins to take it to the next level.

I was fucking infuriated about Sting and Triple H. The overbooking was fine, by why in the seven fucking hells do you FINALLY get Sting after 14 years, only to marginalize him, and then have him LOSE the fucking payoff match? Mind boggling.

Only slightly more than Undertaker winning. What, exactly, does that do for anyone?

I guess it all comes down to where they go from here. You of all guys should know it's not always correct to judge things too quickly: maybe they have something in mind in terms of a bigger picture for Sting, and we simply don't know the details yet. If this turns out to be Sting's one and only match in WWE (which I seriously doubt) then I would agree with you. But if it ends up going somewhere which makes Sting look great at the end of the day, it's all good. I thought Sting looked great last night, under the circumstances. Way better than most people expected I think.

In terms of Taker, it was pretty obvious he wasn't going to footnote his streak by losing back to back, to Bray Wyatt of all people. He simply had to win that match, and I don't think it damaged Wyatt at all.

I thought last night's PPV was awesome. Lots of people are never satisfied, but I think a lot was accomplished last night. Everyone wanted to see Daniel Bryan have a Wrestlemania moment again, and he certainly did, albeit with a secondary belt. And everyone has been crying for ages about the lack of prestige of the undercard belts. How better to do it than to give the two mid card titles to Daniel Bryan and John Cena? People want Cena to step away from the main event scene. Done.

The two decrepit senior citizens looked better than everyone thought in my opinion. The tag match and the Andre the Giant match were both meh, but who cares, they were only pre-show matches anyway. Last year the winner of the Battle Royal went nowhere with it and this year will be no different, and Show seems like a logical choice to win this pretty much meaningless trophy.

Rollins/Orton was great. So was the main event, and the end result of the main event was terrific for all three guys. The divas were the divas, no great expectations there anyway. Rusev didn't look weak in defeat, nor did Sting, Wyatt, Lesnar, or Reigns.

A little, strange seeing Sting, Taker, and Wyatt come out while it was still daylight, but that's nitpicking. The Rousey/Rock/Steph/Triple H thing was a little long, but it was filler, it was for main stream attention, and it achieved both and I enjoyed it even if it was a little long.

Considering the lack of build I thought it was a great show. Not quite as good as last year, but way better than what most thought in my opinion.

You really have to watch mania in a group setting to enjoy it the most, even a raw with a bunch of m8s would be bearable with m8s. What killed it for me was not watching it live because of university

Was still a good show

Overall it was a great show, definitely exceeded my expectations on all fronts. I was a bit worried about the outdoor crowd, but they stayed hot all night. The only negative for me was Sting taking the fall, but the match itself was still an enjoyable clusterfuck. I'd have to give match of the night to the main event, and would a Suplex City, Bitch t-shirt be too much to ask for?

The thing is, though, is that the result may not have been what most of us wanted or expected, but at the end of the day, Sting came out looking great. He looked in great shape (considering his age), he performed well in the ring (again considering his age), and when push came to shove, it took interference from DX, HBK, and a sledgehammer to the head, to cost him the match. Nothing to be ashamed of, no tarnishing of his legacy whatsoever. Plus, we have no idea where he goes next, I suspect he will get his revenge and have his moment at some point in the forseeable future (am I the only one who would love to see that be Sting versus HBK).

I agree, in no way did he come out looking weak, but it almost felt the match was a one and done situation; and it'd be a shame if his only match in WWE is a loss to Trips.

I highly doubt Sting's loss leads to anything other than a win for The Authority considering how it all ended. As soon as they made this about WWE vs. WCW there was no way Sting was walking away with the victory. Truth be told it should have never been about that, it should have simply been Sting putting The Authority in check from their constant abuse of power. That what Sting did in WCW, that's what Sting did in TNA so not much explanation would have been needed.

You are clearly forgetting about his match with another Texan at WM32, which should be both iconic and phenomenal at the same time. And I am expecting a couple of matches before that as well.

A little more removed from it. I'd call it this definitely one of the better Wrestlemanias in the last five years. I've got serious problems with the ARMBAR winner decision, the what felt like a half-hour for Steph-Hunter-Rock-Rousey, the majority of the musical segments (Skylar was good, other guys weren't), and them having it as a 6 hour event when it could have easily fit into 4 hours, R-truth being in the opener (I don't think I saw him once on camera) and of course the Sting defeat. Ric Flair should have been there for Sting (or hell, the Four Horsemen in general), and Sting should have gone over. But then, that match was a clusterfuck from build-start to handshake end, and I can only hope it's over and Sting just goes home to his mountain of money.

Otherwise, a very well done show, even if Seth Rollins cashing in is starting to feel more and more like Option C.

Taker/Sting will definitely be a sight to behold, but at the end of the day you can all but chalk it up as another loss for Sting, and unless he starts feuding with some of the younger talent I'm not sure there are many worthy match-ups for him on the current roster. I hope I'm wrong, but the way the ended the match last night really screams one and done.

WrestleMania's not the time to tickle the balls - it's the time to take it right down the throat. The biggest contemporary wrestling name to never wrestle for the WWE lost his first match there in a massive anticlimax and that will always be true.

Welp, finally finished the show. Good show but I don't think I enjoyed it quite as much as everyone else. It flew by and the first hour or so was great, but there really wasn't any blow-away match for me. I've seen some people going ape shit about the main event calling it a MOTYC but I wasn't feeling it that much. Lesnar matches tend to follow the exact same formula since his return, sometimes it's great, other times it's just okay. I honestly can't even remember the last time Lesnar had an evenly-fought match where he didn't spent 90% of the match just suplexing the shit out of his opponent. Which, ya know, is fun and all, but gets a little old.

Anyways, here are my ratings:

Tag Title Fatal Fourway - **3/4
Andre the Giant Battle Royal - *1/2
Daniel Bryan vs. Wade Barrett vs. Dean Ambrose vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Stardust vs. R-Truth (Ladder) - ***1/2
Randy Orton vs. Seth Rollins - ***1/4
Triple H vs. Sting (No DQ) - ***1/4
AJ Lee/Paige vs. Nikki Bella/Brie Bella - *
John Cena vs. Rusev - ***
Undertaker vs. Bray Wyatt - **1/2
Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns - ***1/2
Seth Rollins vs. Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns - NR (too short)

Good show. Liked last year's quite a bit more though.

I just finished the show. I enjoyed it, for the most part. I thought the ladder match was a bunch of garbage, but love DB winning.

Sting losing and being made to look like a complete bum for weeks now irritates me. However, he cashed a decent check, so good for him.

The main event was fantastic. There's just something fun about Lesnar killing people. Reigns played his part really well, laughing at Lesnar and so on. Told a great story... until Rollins cashed in. I don't mind him being champion, but that match was on its way to being one of my favorites.

Seemed like a lot of matches were rushed a bit on time honestly, which sure as hell shouldn't be a problem on a 4 hour show.

I don't know they overdid the Ronda Rousey thing. But I just found everything to be a bit average, nothing stood out to me apart from the ladder match. I had low expectations going in, it didn't exceed them by much.

I think Wrestle Kingdom 9 was the better show

Well, I watched all the show round a friends house, a casual who was also baffled at Sting losing, but we both enjoyed ourselves anyway. And then for some reason someone uploaded all the matches to youtube in 2x speed, suffice to say I'll be watching all my wrestling at 2x speed in the future. That shits awesome.

Honestly I watch so much wrestling for my blog trying to fill in gaps in WCW, ECW, etc that if I have the ability, I'll always watch it a little faster than normal. VLC player is a godsend for this, because you can speed up the video file ever so slightly by increments of 1/10th of normal speed, so I usually wind up watching shit at 1.10x speed, because there's basically no difference from regular speed. Once you go past 1.20x though it starts to be noticeably sped up.
