WZCW Wiki

Shotaro

WZCW's James Howard
Yeah so a bit of googling turned up a wiki...

Here's a link

It's massively out of date and most of the Roster is missing. In couple of weeks my students will have finished all their exams and I'll have a TON of time on my hands. I'm going to sort it and I'm going to use Roster Pages for everyone on the roster past/present and do my best to keep it up to date.

If anyone wants something different to just their roster page on there I have no problem copy pasting something else - but I don't have the time to write out summaries of everyones RPs

If you want a proper wiki style article for your character send me the blurb either in this thread or via PM and I'll update it.

I won't constantly plug this until it's done but once it is done I'll plug the hell out of it.

That is all

Many have tried. I might brush up my history and send it. I realized yesterday I've been here for a damn long time.

Every couple of months, someone tries. I've faced the mammoth task twice and failed. It would probably take a massive group commitment with strong leadership to truly tackle it.

Many have tried.

I know. I feel like the idea pops up with a different person every 2-3 months. If anyone can actually devote time to it, more power to you. Personally, I wish a WZCW elder would take some time and summarize the company's history from the beginning until now. I would enjoy that a lot more than a wiki.

I'm trying to find out as much as I can right now - I'm reading through old shows (currently at Meltdown 3) all I can say is WOW. The shows have come a long way

No one reads it, it was set up when WZCW first started.

Maybe so however

a) I'm soon to be in a position where my work load is literally zero so a project gives me something to do
b) If it were up to date maybe people would read it (Also it gives us a good starting point for people to see what's going on and what's happened in the past)

I can do peripheral work if you want some help, Shotaro. I'd work best on a schedule. An article a week, maybe. I don't want you to be discouraged by the past history of the wiki project, but it is something that generally overwhelms one. My recommendation would be plan ahead, focus on piecemeal improvement of one thing before another, and so on. I think that was what thwarted me on the last couple of gos, anyway - trying to do it all at once.

My plan is to do the current Roster first. Then work backwards through the shows.

If you could do the PPVs that would be awesome. That way there's a bit more time spent on them and thanks to your access to the creative section you probably have more info on the overriding story arcs than I do

I applaud your enthusiasm for this task, Shotaro. Will I help you? Almost definitely not, but if you need moral support, I'm here for hugs bro.

I have read a lot of them too. I think the problem is that the wiki is off site. So, it follows the phrase, "out of sight, out of mind."

And any questions, don't hesitate to give us a shout.

Thanks to both of you.

After a little bit of swearing I've managed to do Celeste Crimson's Wiki Page

This may end up turning into a blog for the damn thing (I looked through it earlier and this task is monumentally fucking huge)

Hopefully I'll get through page 3 of the Roster in the Next hour or so...

To save you a load of time, might I suggest that you encourage active roster members to send you their career information? Some will do it, some won't have time, but you won't have to spend time doing those that do.

True - right now I need to get the framework there though - as it stands it's all well and good having say JGlass or even yourself send me that information, but if there's no page there in the first place it makes a difficult job even harder. I'm planning to PM people as their respective roster pages go up then hopefully it'll be a simple Copy and Paste job.

This is an awesome thing you're doin man. If you need any help let me know and I'll try to do what I can. I can't make any promises, but I'll do what I can

I remember having a go back in 09/10. I did do some of the key updates and naturally did my own character's page. I have updated Big Dave so you don't need to him for now. :)

Thanks, I know some pages are relatively up to date (Ty Burna's is up to his heel turn for example) there's still a lot to be done and the database was down for maintainance earlier...

I say kill the current wiki and start afresh with a new one. We can get the thing up to date for the present day climate of WZCW and then start adding the older stuff.

If the Wiki was up to date then I would read it. I use Wikipedia to follow WWE whenever I miss an ass load of shows, so their is some appeal. The problem with the WCZW wiki is keeping it updated, and with 50+ people on the roster that's going to be tough to do it every week.

I agree - I've spent a couple of hours on it tonight and I've gotten four new pages added, I've found several Roster members whos own pages were not properly linked and I've not even begun to think about shows yet. That being said this is a whole summer project for me so I will be putting a bit of time into it on as many nights as I can. With any luck I will have everything up to date on there by the next PPV, but given current progress it's unlikely.

Once everyone's page is up there maintaining it is the easy part. Show pages will be relatively quick, and Harthan has offered to lend a hand. For the new guys pages it won't be so bad but for folks like Celeste and Everest it's a far bigger proposition.
