WZCW Discussion Thread

Well I took a pretty big risk by trying something new I hadn't really done here before and writing from Tiffany's point of view, but if Creative liked it I'll give it another go next round. I have another idea I may try, one that won't deviate me from my story I'm planning for this cycle.

If you get some solid feedback then explore it. I don't think it's a bad idea. You've got to work yourself out of the slump. God knows I know exactly what that feels like.

For me what makes doing this enjoyable (this time around as opposed to the last 4 times) is that I don't care about Wins & Loses. I love coming up with my own gimmick, writing RPs & the whole nine yards.

Titus Avison apparently wants to give Vee A.D.Z. a 15 Minute of Fame. But I want to see a 60 Minute Iron Man Match between Titus and Vee at Unscripted!!

Y'know, I think that Xander LeBelle fella is going places. Just a hunch.

Also, I want to extend a special shoutout to Yazloz for being a cool and understanding fedhead and a good man. He's done a damn fine job running this place.

Some thoughts:

Talk about a way to end the show. A little abrupt but exciting. Does this mean Slaughter is back full time? Interesting. I missed his first run, but I know the impact he made. Confession: When I first started researching while planning on coming back the first time, I thought Dr. Zeus had changed his name or something because here was this guy who was world champ and his first name was Dorian. Seriously, how can you have two Dorians in one fed?

I'm also glad Titus retained. The match with Vee should be quite good. Odd to see Ramparte going full fan-high-fiving since last I remembered he was still mid-turn if he was turning at all but it's also nice to see Ramparte gain a win. I've grown quite the fan of his.

I feel the opening segment was, uh, not proofread. The commentary was really stilted and the grammar wasn't great. In fact, it was poor. I feel that's part of the time crunch but it got borderline unreadable at points which is a damn shame. I liked the Cooper/Kensworth segment a lot, felt it was an interesting way to do an interview without doing an interview as it were. It was also followed by another Kensworth interview but I don't really see that as a structural problem considering there would theoretically be an ad between the two segments and they're both a bit different. Still for variety's sake, another interviewer could have taken that place.

This is a personal thing but the big text for chants and the abundance of "Holy shit" chants really haven't been working for me.

In general, commentary felt a bit off this show. Perhaps it's because I'm spoiled by FunKay who I think really nails the use of commentary in matches and so his lack of presence becomes noticeable. With that said, I want to highlight something I love about another match writer's matches, and that's NSL. NSL always adds in little character-building moments like Mancini yelling or Logan seeing a child in the front row, and that makes his matches seem really dynamic and not just like paint-by-numbers wrestling matches between two random names. It's interesting to look at who writes what and identify their strengths and weaknesses. Very cool.

All in all, I felt Ascension was definitely a solid and enjoyable show. I'll admit I had a minor salt episode about Meltdown but that's long, long since passed and now I'm just excited for the next card to see where thins are going from here.

Fantastic stuff. Killjoy and Yaz, you guys both rule. I really loved my match. And I was super into Flex vs Titus. I've absolutely loved their characters a lot since coming back (I've always liked Titus, but his current character is definitely a step up).

And the very quick but serious scene of Xander burning the mask was done very perfectly and to the point.

Me personally, I actually really like the big text chants. One man's trash is another man's treasure, as the saying goes. I think it adds an overwhelming feel, which is what I feel like the really strong and loud chants tend to do in wrestling. Sometimes what fans chant completely drown out the matches. I'm also somebody who likes messing a lot with formatting to highlight voice, mood, accent. I just generally try and put to paper the voice as I hear it in my head.

Matt gave me the heads up on what all went down on Meltdown. I was actually working when it was first up, so I couldn't read it immediately. I don't know how I would have reacted at the time, but knowing that it was being moved to Ascension, well, I'm actually really happy it happened. I have so many ideas bouncing around in my head, right now. Looking forward to the boards being put up.

Yeah, I could watch it now. It was damn good.

By the way, Isn't TBK the handler of Xander LeBelle? How is he connected to you?

I'm his manager. See the guy in the gold suit? "Astonishing" Andrew Adonis, at your service. TBK is also my best friend, so there's that.

It's pretty exciting. We were gonna do this back in 2014 as part of The Pale Riders but that fell through. It's sort of sad, I feel like these characters are Zeus's albatross since he left right after we resubmitted our apps again a few months back. Blame me for Mikey's title win. :(

Adonis looks surely astonishing, buddy. So you wouldn't return as a wrestler now?

Well I was pretty happy for Mikey's title win. You should be rewarded for it then. :)

Unfortunately, I don't have time to be full time right now. This is a fun arrangement that allows me to be creative and work with RPs on a slightly better schedule and to try something new in the fed at the same time. I want to be able to contribute and put in a good effort no matter what I do.

Wait a second, you're Dr Zeus A.K.A Haiku A.K.A. Sexual Orientation Panda A.K.A. etc etc etc?

Good, buddy. This way, You can contribute due to a lighter schedule. Would be hoping you to join as a wrestler too in future. Till then enjoy being Paul Heyman for your Brock Lesnar. ;)
