Part of me wants to start over with a new character, but the other part still wants to continue with Joe West. I guess I should just wait to see what creative has planned.

I would honestly say to continue unless you are absolutely 110% certain that you don't want to be writing as your character because you are either bored with West or you have no idea where to take him (concerning creative direction). Otherwise, keep on keeping on for my suggestion.
