'Money' Breeds Mayhem

TUCSON, Ariz. – As WWE Money in the Bank lurks on the horizon, Christian antagonized World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton, Sheamus nearly toppled The Viper in an explosive main event and Mark Henry continued to rage against the machine.

World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton def. Sheamus by Disqualification
The ultra-resentful Christian – No. 1 contender to Randy Orton’s World Heavyweight Title – joined the SmackDown announce team, giving himself a front row seat as The Viper battled Sheamus. And just when it looked as if WWE’s Apex Predator was about to defeat The Celtic Warrior with the RKO, his Money in the Bank adversary attacked, giving Orton the win by disqualification. As Sheamus delivered the big boot to Christian, however, Orton recovered and hit the Irish Superstar with a post-match RKO.

The Usos def. Justin Gabriel & Heath Slater
The explosive Usos scored another impressive victory over three-time WWE Tag Team Champions Heath Slater & Justin Gabriel with an earth-shattering superplex-splash combination from the top rope.

Sin Cara def. Tyson Kidd
In the climactic moments of his fast-paced match with Tyson Kidd, the gravity-defying Sin Cara flipped his opponent off the ropes with extreme velocity, sending him crashing to the canvas for the three-count.

Mark Henry def. Kane
One week after his ruthless attack on a WWE audio technician, Mark Henry continued his rampage through WWE. After he defeated the monstrous Kane in a brutal showdown with The World’s Strongest Slam, the rage-filled Henry shook up the SmackDown announce team, screaming at color commentator Booker T. At Money in the Bank, Henry will take on Big Show.

A.J. def. Tamina
With third-generation Superstar Natalya by her side, A.J. once again attempted to overcome Tamina. When the dangerous daughter of WWE Hall of Famer "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka missed her mark – hurling herself toward the allusive spitfire in the corner – A.J. quickly rolled her up for the pinfall. After the bell, Tamina experienced an angry earful from her outraged Diva cohort Alicia Fox over the loss.

Jinder Mahal def. Trent Barreta
One week after Ranjin Singh revealed that Jinder Mahal had married the sister of The Great Khali and Singh, The Punjabi Nightmare sat in for an “informative” exchange with the SmackDown announce team. Following Mahal’s victory over Trent Barreta with a full nelson, suplex slam, Khali hurled the defeated Superstar back into his brother-in-law’s arms, allowing Mahal to carry out an encore of his devastating finisher on his prey.

Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase def. Intercontinental Champion Ezekiel Jackson & Daniel Bryan
In the midst of tag team commotion, Cody Rhodes executed a springboard kick on Ezekiel Jackson, setting up Ted DiBiase to hit the Personification of Domination with Dream Street for the triumph.

Sheamus attacked the Money in the Bank Ladder Match competitors
Sheamus sent his seven opponents in the SmackDown Money in the Bank Ladder Match heading for the hills with a vicious chair assault, just nine days before they face-off at Money in the Bank. The Celtic Warrior proclaimed that after he triumphs in the career-threatening showdown, he will cash in his newly-acquired briefcase that very night. Predicting Randy Orton would beat Christian, he promised to capture the World Title, while avenging the punt attack he suffered several weeks ago at the hands of The Viper. Interrupting Sheamus, Christian revealed that his legal team added a new stipulation to his World Title Match against WWE’s Apex Predator at Money in the Bank. If Orton gets disqualified or there is more “bad officiating,” he automatically wins the coveted title. SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long then broke up a heated exchange between the two intense Superstars, making the main event between Sheamus and Orton.

World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton vs. Christian

After Christian captured his first World Championship in his 17-year career at Extreme Rules – then lost it to Randy Orton just days later – he has been on a relentless quest to regain the title. But the results have been the same each time. At Capitol Punishment and Over the Limit, Christian failed to beat World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton. Will the third time be the charm? Maybe, but at Money in the Bank he is counting on more than just luck. To bolster his chances, Christian had his legal team include a special clause in the match contract. If Orton is disqualified, Christian immediately becomes the new champion. The clause stems from Christian’s continual claims that he has been “screwed” out of the title. At Extreme Rules, he claims that his leg was clearly under the ropes when Orton was declared the winner. Then just when he thought he thought he earned a World Title opportunity in a tag team victory on SmackDown, General Manager Theodore Long said not so fast. It wasn't until Christian & Mark Henry beat Orton & Kane in a tag match that Christian finally earned his match with Orton. But even after solidifying his No. 1 contender spot, Christian’s quest hit another road block. On the July 1 edition of SmackDown, Sheamus crashed the World Title contract signing, brutalized both Christian and Orton, and tore up their match contract. With no contract and doubts about whether the World Title Match would even take place, Christian revealed the next week that a newly signed contract did indeed exist – including the special clause. With the clause in his corner, can Christian finally regain the coveted title he held for just days? Or, will The Viper finally crush Christian’s dream for good?

SmackDown Money in the Bank Ladder Match

First instituted at WrestleMania 21, the Money in the Bank Ladder Match has become one of the most prestigious and most anticipated contests in WWE. And now, for the second year in a row, two of the high-stakes onslaughts will serve as the centerpiece of the knockdown, drag-out WWE Money in the Bank pay-per-view. Eight SmackDown Superstars will compete in one of the explosive contests, battling for the right to challenge a WWE World Champion at any time, at any place, for up to one year. To earn the tremendous opportunity, a Superstar must climb up the ladder and obtain the briefcase holding the coveted championship contract within. Among the Superstars scheduled to compete will be last year’s SmackDown Money in the Bank winner Kane – who made history by cashing in his monumental opportunity to capture the World Heavyweight Title on that very same night. He will contend with a slew of Friday night elite Superstars, including former two-time WWE Champion Sheamus, Sin Cara, Daniel Bryan, Cody Rhodes, Wade Barrett, Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater. Considering the perfect success rate for those who have previously cashed in the contract and become a World Champion, the briefcase’s value has driven Superstars to unprecedented lengths – and heights – in its pursuit. It has also been known to increase the hostility between former allies – and could do so again here with former Corre members Barrett, Gabriel and Slater in the same contest – while forever altering other ring warriors’ personal goals. In the latter case, the WWE Universe can’t help but wonder if Cody Rhodes’ hatred for Daniel Bryan over the past several weeks will play a factor in his chance at a World Title opportunity.

Big Show vs. Mark Henry

WWE Money in the Bank just got a whole lot bigger. In a Goliath clash of the titans that promises to shake Money in the Bank to its very foundation, the enraged Big Show will lock horns with the ferocious Mark Henry. The explosive bedlam between the two behemoths started in the midst of Big Show’s anger with another adversary. Recovering from injuries sustained after being run down by Alberto Del Rio’s car, the gigantic Superstar chased the target of his enormous animosity to SmackDown. But, instead of the aristocratic Superstar, SmackDown GM Theodore Long placed him in a match with Mark Henry. With blind intensity in his eyes, The World's Largest Athlete attacked The World’s Strongest Man before he could enter the ring, carrying out an onslaught that would put Mark Henry on a stretcher. At WWE Capitol Punishment, Henry seized his revenge, busting into Big Show’s match with Del Rio in order to put the massive grapplers through the announce table with the World’s Strongest Slam. However, that incredible display of enraged strength would only be the beginning for Mark Henry. On the June 27 edition of Raw, he stunned the WWE Universe when he put Big Show through a steel cage. Five days later on SmackDown, his ire reached unspeakable levels. After being distracted by the playing of Big Show’s entrance music caused him to lose an important match with World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton, he created a panic by attacking a WWE audio technician and destroying his equipment. Though Henry’s uncontrollable viciousness appears to know no bounds, angering a giant is never a wise decision. Will the wrath of The World’s Strongest Man be enough to overcome the unrelenting fury of The World’s Largest Athlete?

Watch WWE Money in the Bank, live on pay-per-view on July 17 at 8/5 PT to see who will be the next Superstars to earn the “Mr. Money in the Bank” moniker.

I don't know what it is, but I've been getting a much different vibe from Smackdown than I have Raw lately. It's go less star power, but it's still generally the more enjoyable show I find.

Either way, here we go! Here's hoping we get some Sheamus, DBD, and Uso action!

Randy's beard isn't looking so bad these days. It's not helping his mic skills any, but at least he doesn't look like a schmuck.

I wouldn't say that Christian's claim to fame is his world championship run, I'd say it's the fact that he was in many of the greatest tag team matches in the history of the WWE.

I haven't been able to see Smackdown in a while. How long has this announcer chick been here? I hate her voice.

Not bad. Really liked the fact that they kept countering each other's finishers instead of ending the match right away.

I hope so Holy he needs it more than everybody..
Wade is awesome in the mic, I love his accent
