WWE NoC 2010 - The Big Show vs. CM Punk

Surely Show won't dominate Punk 2 PPVs in a row, will he? Nah, he probably will. I'm sure many people are all up in a tizzy over this being a non title match at NOC. How ballsy by the WWE here. Obviously, it doesn't matter as much as say, the length of Punk's chest hair.

Anyway, I'm expecting this to be pretty weak overall. This whole thing hasn't really clicked for me. A Punk countout victory seems in order here. Yipee.

A lot of people em to be upset that this is even on the card, de to it being a non-title match on a show with the gimmick of "every belt is on the line!". They are merging the two female belts, and the ECW belt is gone.... Something had to fill the gap, or else the show would be either a short one or the matches would have to be really long. That aside, it's a pointless filler match so I fully expect it to open the show. That way we get it out of the way. Do I care who wins? Absolutely not. I'm thinking that The Big Show will win because then he will look like more of a threat to the world title, whereas Punk cannot be taken as seriously at that level at the moment. Ugh, I seriously do not care about this one at all.

This is a hard one to call. I think CM Punk will come off with a win somehow. CM Punk has been losing, and needs a win here to stay afloat. Big Show doesn't need the win that much, while CM Punk does.

I think CM Punk REALLY needs to win this match because in all honesty I see no reason into why The Big Show needs the win, but I will have to go with him in this match simply because we have see these two face off numerous times already and I think this will end tonight at Night of Champions. If CM Punk wins then that means they will have to continue the feud and honestly I am sick of seeing these two against each other.

On top of not wanting to see these two face each other anymore I really think that if The Big Show wins then it will begin the meltdown of The Straight Edge Society. I believe CM Punk will go on and face Luke Gallows and Joey Mercury, but shortly after he makes quick business with them he will go on to hopefully some new competition. I believe CM Punk is being held back by Luke Gallows and Joey Mercury. The Straight Edge Society has over stayed their welcome and I think CM Punk really needs to challenge for the World Title at this point.

This match will have some interference from The Straight Edge Society, but The Big Show will overcome and he will take them all out and pin Punk clean. Afterwards Punk will go ballistic on Luke Gallows and Joey Mercury and leave frustrated that he lost again.

I’d really like to see Punk get the win here against Big Show. Punk has been lacking big wins over the past few months against both Mysterio and Show so having a good win here could really help elevate him back to title contention. Especially if this is the end match for their feud you need Punk to go over. Big Show has been doing better as a face this time around and has been getting some good wins so it won’t hurt him in the slightest to lose at NoC so I say give Punk the win.

But, having said that I can see Big Show getting the win which is unfortunate but I think WWE will give him the win to arrange the final destruction of the SES.

I have not been keeping up with Smackdown as of late and I am really out of the loop when it comes to this match-up. However, I did watch Raw a couple of weeks ago and the segment that Punk cut against the Big Show is enough to convince me that everything is running to plan on the blue side of the WWE.

Now, I am not a fan of either of these guys. They both exist on Smackdown and since I haven’t been watching the show, I really don’t know who I think is going to win. However, at this point, I think CM Punk is a pretty secure bet. To me, Punk needs to get some of the credibility back that he had when he was World Heavyweight Champion and putting him over someone very dominating like The Bog Show is the first step on that path.

I like both of these guys but all logic would point towards the WWE wanting to put CM Punk over the friendly giant. Either way, I have a feeling that both of these guys need the win and the winner of the feud will likely go onto bigger and better things. God knows, I hope that is CM Punk! It has been far too long since he was amongst the main players on Smackdown.

Honestly, the build-up has been completely one-sided. Big Show has been dominating CM Punk. I hope they just don't have CM Punk job cleanly because that will be a big letdown.

CM Punk should have won this. What does it do for Big Show to go over here? I don’t understand WWE’s booking of CM Punk lately. I thought for sure he would win here to put him over in the end of their feud. Having Show win does nothing for either guy, Punk is losing way too much. Punk needs to be built back into that main event status where he can be a World Title contender again. I know as a former world champ he will always be credible in World Title matches but he needs some to be seen as a legitimate threat again.

I hope this feud is over, I enjoyed it but this should be the last time they meet. Punk needs to either build his SES back up or split to go onto the World Title chase again. He’s far too good a talent to be wasted on putting over Big Show who is already completely over.

DAGGER'S PREDICTION
Big Show will defeat CM Punk.

I was right here too. The match did not fit in with the others due to it being the only non-title match on a show where every match has been a title match. That's what happens when you start unifying titles though. Big Show got the win and he needed it more than Punk because Big Show can be taken more seriously as a threat to the world title now. Punk on the other hand.... should have never gotten his head shaved in the angle with Rey, he cannot be taken seriously period now. The match was probably my least favorite other than the divas match since it was a pointless filler match.

What I found annoying about this match was that several times throughout, Striker mentioned the Anaconda Vice and brought up how it can be used effectively against either the smallest or largest opponent, giving it some build-up, then about a minute later Punk gets pinned. It crossed my mind that maybe Show shattered a rib or 5 of Punk's when he slammed him with his fist then with the big spear and they had to end it sooner, but it could have just been a good sell job.

Before the match got underway, and this is stating the obvious with Punk nowadays, but his promo on his home-town was just fantastic! Disappointing match though

Punk can talk, he can wrestle, and alot disagree but he can hit finishers on nearly anyone (when finisher on kane botched it was kane's fault for being scared and he has his submission). He is the best wrestler in WWE at cutting promos with the Miz and Jericho (now he's gone) atm. I mean, even his promo pre-match at NOC was so great. Yet, he faces rey 3 or 4 times and wins once, and then loose all his matches againt big show! I Just don't get it!!

THe only logic is that something personal is going on, cause punk lost alot of credebility lately and unlike swagger he doesn't deserve it.

I know there were reports earlier in the year that Undertaker had called him up on the way he dressed and his general attitude, but I thought that had been settled. I think his promos are a big help, because as you alluded to with Rey, he had a poor record in matches, and this has continued since then. I remember him squashing JTG but aside from that I can't think of many other wins he's had over the last few months
