...Didn't Taker put over Khali, Gonzalez, Maven and a young Mr. John Cena?

No, no, no, and no.

Khali? Despite being a fucking giant he still needed outside interference from Daivari to put away 'Taker.

Gonzalez? Lost every match to Undertaker.

Maven? Was fucking DESTROYED by the Undertaker on RAW after the Royal Rumble fluke elimination. I mean he DESTROYED him in a hardcore match, he made him look like a crippled kid trying to fight Vader.

John Cena? Beat him on PPV several times, Cena was able to get one victory over him on Smackdown after outside interference by A-Train and an illegal chain shot. Undertaker then beat him clean on Smackdown a few months later.

Going back and watching all the TV and PPVs from the 2000-2004 era, it's absolutely ridiculous how many people he buried and how protected he was. You practically needed the 101st Airbourne to interfere and a Panzer tank just to make him do a single job.

What? It most certainly did not lead to "nothing", it lead to Ric Flair as champion, and as WCW President, and the Four Horsemen turning heel again and becoming awesome as fuck again because they were able to be dastardly heels like they should have been.

I couldve sworn Ric Flair himself said that it lead to nothing on a DVD doc, and he hated bischoff all the more for it. And I personally dont recall it. Although to be fair, I started paying much less attention to WCW when Bret Hart came in, that is really when WCW started becoming pointless shit, ALA TNA

A list of pay-per-views I've deemed worthy of watching. Feel free to suggest additions/removals:

  • SummerSlam 2002
  • Vengeance 2002
  • Judgment Day 2002
  • King of the Ring 2002
  • Unforgiven 2002
  • No Mercy 2002
  • Rebellion 2002
  • Survivor Series 2002
  • Armageddon 2002
  • Royal Rumble 2003
  • No Way Out 2003
  • SummerSlam 2003
  • Royal Rumble 2004
  • No Way Out 2004

He beat Cena on PPV once and once alone and Taker has been beaten by Cena twice on SmackDown. Khali destroyed Taker at Judgment Day without assistance. Jeff Hardy got major props from Taker after their ladder match. Maven has never lost to the Undertaker. Lesnar beat him on PPV, in his own match. The FBI put him out for a good couple of months. That's not a bad collection of people. Oh and Kane three times last year. That's 8 people off the top of my head. Not bad.

I mean yeah it lead to Flair eventually being totally buried again, so I'm sure he doesn't like how it all played out, but it lead to good stuff wrestling-wise on the shows. Flair finally got to win the title from the evil Hogan and make Bischoff his bitch (although they of course said "Hey lets turn Hogan face and Flair heel!" 20 seconds after this). Benoit and Malenko ROCKED the tag division winning the tag titles a few times and being awesome old-school heels with Arn Anderson in their corner interfering and cheating like it was 1988 all over again. Classic Horsemen heel stuff, title reigns for all the Horsemen...it was a pretty good time for a few months. Then they turned Flair heel (then face again two weeks later), had him committed to a fucking mental institution, and made him look like a total buffoon in some of the lamest skits/vignettes WCW ever came up with. Like, Cactus Jack being lost in Cleveland as a crazy amnesiac bad.

He beat Cena on PPV once and once alone and Taker has been beaten by Cena twice on SmackDown.

I could have sworn he faced Cena on PPV twice, beating him both times. Vengeance 03 where he beat him clean, and I could have fuckin' sworn he faces him on PPV one more time before Cena turned face for good. I could be wrong though.

I don't remember him beating 'Taker twice on Smackdown, but if he did it definitely wasn't clean, it was due to outside interference and/or illegal weapon use.

Khali destroyed Taker at Judgment Day without assistance.

Daivari definitely assisted him, Taker had him tied up in the ropes helpless and Daivari interfered to untangle him and distract 'Taker.

Plus, it's not really "putting someone over" if you then beat the fuck out of them in the rematches and blow-off matches. Winning one match and then being decisively defeated in the blow-off isn't really being "put over" IMO, because you're right back where you started once it's over, and you've lost your heat 9 times out of 10.

Jeff Hardy got major props from Taker after their ladder match.

He really didn't. People keep saying this, but what did this propel Jeff Hardy to? The unemployment line. That match was so notable because Taker actually gave him some damn offense for once, which in itself was a shcok at the time. The match itself did nothing for Jeff Hardy though. He was back to being a midcard jobber a week later, and was off to TNA shortly after while mailing in some of the worst matches of his career.

Maven has never lost to the Undertaker.

Could have sworn 'Taker beat him clean shortly after the Rumble. Even if he didn't though, he still DESTROYED Maven several times on TV and made him look like a total jobber. And what did this win do for Maven? Absolutely nothing and he remained totally irrelevant until they tried a last ditch push of him against Triple H and Evolution in '04 before finally giving up on him for good.

Lesnar beat him on PPV, in his own match.

Yes, after Undertaker bitched and moaned and basically held up the Unforgiven PPV the month before until the finish of the PPV was changed from him losing clean to a double DQ. This was of course a month after both The Rock and Hulk freaking Hogan put Lesnar over, among others. He should have done the job for Lesnar the month before the Cell to begin with. Doing one job with a broken hand and a blackmail threat hanging over you isn’t exactly Ric Flair making Sting into a superstar at the first Clash, ya know?

The FBI put him out for a good couple of months.

The FBI? Are we really going to sit here and say the Undertaker put the FBI over? He squashed them on a weekly basis on Smackdown in those days. And oh look, another group of people that feuded with the Undertaker and whose careers then plummeted to the bottom of the barrel because he killed all of their heat.

That's not a bad collection of people. Oh and Kane three times last year. That's 8 people off the top of my head. Not bad.

The Kane jobs would mean something if they had been done, oh ten years earlier and not in the twilight of both men's careers, when their feud is older than dirt and their matches total suckfests.

He's put over some people, sure. Everyone has. He's also buried a lot more. I don't know, it's hard to tell between him and Hunter who's been worse in their WWE career in that area.

Pretty solid list. KOTR 02 isn't that good. Neither is Armageddon 02. Or the 04 Rumble.

Also, AWESOME match between Sting and DDP for the WHC.

and to think, Sly derided people for getting this. Already three 4 star matches. epicness.

They had a tournament to decide who would face Lesnar at Backlash and Cena beat both Undertaker and Benoit.

Is it true that Edge was going to win the title in 2002? If it is, then that would have been a huge push.

I could see that as well and they could have made it work. Here would be the best card for WM 22.

HHH (Rumble winner) vs. Cena

Rey vs. Benoit in honor of Eddie

Angle vs. Taker

HBK vs. Orton

You'll want to ignore all of NWO'04 except for the last three matches. The only goiod thing about KOTR'02 is the opening match. Look to other people for more complaints. I'm already exhausted.

He was. He had a great early feud with Kurt Angle which segued into the brilliant tag team feud with Edge, Benoit and Angle. He had a great 2002 in WWE and he was only there for a 8 months or so.

Are you talkin' about the one from the 4/26/99 Nitro? Because I literally just watched that this afternoon and I totally forgot how fucking AWESOME of a match that was. Blew my socks right off, best Sting match of the last like 12 years in my book, had it at like ****1/4 of awesomeness.

It was weird though that they had Sting beat him for the title, and then had DDP just win the title back later that night in a four-way.

Probably not enough Lex Luger on the set for Sly. Never listen to that crazy old coot.

That be the one, my good man. Awesome, awesome, awesome match.

I seriously need to like, make a compilation of all of these Ric Flair in the insane asylum skits, because I just know you would fucking LOVE them Norcal. They're so absolutely insane. Whoever came up with that angle is both a genius and the stupidest motherfucker to ever be involved in the wrestling business.

why the fuck does everyone talk about Mason Ryan so fucking much?

He has had like, two minutes of mic time total, and about 8 matches. Fuck sake. NO he isnt winning MITB, or, fucking much of anything for that matter
