WWE Council of War

statement about the WWE, more than anything.

Doesnt matter, the people who bought it for the rock would have bought it regardless of the show being all about him

I agree and I don't. The fans would always buy it. But non-fans would turn it on just for the Rock. Especially former fans who grew up after the A-Era.

Yes, I know. My point stands. Those fans would have bought it just becuase the rock was on it, the whole fucking show didnt need to be centered on him. They would have already purchased it on name alone.

I can't disagree. I never understand when WRESTLEmania is centered around something non-WRESTLING. I know they really want mainstream media in any way necessary, but for fuck's sake, stick to your roots!

Agreed, at first when Rocky came back it was like I was 10 again, but I was annoyed by WM. Miz/Cena should have been even more epic than it was, and Rocky completely overshadowed it.

The Rumble was great, but it wasn't even the Match of the Night. I'm looking at you Ziggler and Edge.

Shit yeah, that match ruled. Probably in my Top 5 this year, and that includes puro/indies/lucha.

As far as WWE matches, Ziggler vs. Edge and the Smackdown Chamber match are pretty much the two leading the pack. That Chamber match was fucking crazy.

Out of all Chamber matches, my favourite's still the first one. This year I probably preferred the SD one.

Guys, thoughts on Fully Loaded/Summerslam 2000? Might be the vintage goggles talking but solid couple of PPVs there in my opinion. Plus SS had Shane/Blackman, one of my favourite NHB matches for some reason. In terms of wrestling it was actually meh up until the final spot, but damn me if Shane doesn't tell a fucking good story on the way to it.

Raw Chamber was better. It featured Morrison doing flippies and such.

Smackdown has Drew McIntyre do something good for a change. Him throwing Mysterio and not giving a fuck where was one of the funniest things I've ever laughed at that shouldn't be remotely funny.

I am even laughing right now just remembering it.

I'm pretty sure Fully Loaded 2000 is a top 5 WWF/E pay per view of all time. Just a great show all around.

Summerslam was a damn good show that year. I said it to KB in another thread, the WWF's worst pay per view that year was probably Wrestlemania. Every show was good, if not great.

Yeah WM's main event was random as fuck on reflection. I remember at the time just being glad to have Foley for a little bit longer, but, actually, Rock's Rumble win kind of got shat on. Also, Hardcore Holly won a title match. That guy's ego is big enough as it is.

It also had a decent Angle vs. Undertaker match, Val Venis vs. Rikishi in a cage with one helluva sick spot, and maybe the best false finish ever with Benoit and Rock.

Fully Loaded has the EPIC Jericho/HHH Last Man Standing Match. That's a terrific battle.

One of my favourite matches of 2000, not to mention one of my favourite Jericho matches alongside his clashes with Benoit that year.

EDIT: Yeah Shocky, that Val/Kishi cage match was a surprisingly good showing from those two. They worked well together. Several guys managed to do well as IC champ that year. Shame about Barrett's run. Last really good IC run was Ziggler IMO

The Smackdown EC is my favorite WWE match this year. Drew McIntyre was insane in this match throwing everyone around and the ending with Rey Mysterio and Edge was amazing. I really don't get the hate Mysterio gets with people one here. He is constantly putting on very good to great matches. Sure, he's not as good as he used to be, but he is still pretty damn awesome.

I'm guilty of the Mysterio hate from time to time, and I really don't understand it either. I tend to love most matches he's in, but sometimes I just get pissed when I'm watching him. It makes almost no sense at all.

I think people find a tiny guy like that winning all the time to be unrealistic. They seem to have forgotten what kind of business this is. I'm kind of indifferent to Rey myself, but I really appreciate his fan connection and the lengths he goes to with that.

Random thought: Ivory/Chyna, Rumble 01. First women's feud I legit enjoyed. Was presented as an actual feud too, not just two bitches having an argument then a wrestling match.
