WWE Council of War

Overrated and soon I'll be starting a series of essays on why.

I'm not saying that I think the Attitude Era is the best thing ever, but you can't deny that growing up with that as a kid would have been a heck of a lot of fun. Plus I would have gotten to witness a lot more classic matches live, even after the Attitude Era.

I wish I had been a fan when I was a kid. I would have gotten to grow up with the Attitude Era.

So then you wouldnt be allowed to watch it :lmao:

and KB I think I may have watched the 89 rumble...maybe once or twice since then, and Halloween Havoc zero times since then...although that cage match is on a dvd or two wwe has put out.

Its mostly just how immense of an impression it made on me

I never was huge on that cage match. I remember you requesting that review from me though.

As an adult, I see it for how shit it was. Mostly attributable to Flair, which is generally the case.

Back when i was a kid though? Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit. Didnt get no better.

I barely remember watching wrestling back then. I know I did but I barely remember it.

What I have always found odd, is from what my grandparents tell me, I was even able to differentiate reall good matches.

They told me how I asked to be taught how to rewind videos, so i could watch that 2/3 falls match over and over again. I remember how much I liked it, lolz, and could differntiate the quality and style of it as compared to the others.

Again, I was seven.

I remember on Summerslam I always loved the tag match and Hogan vs. Quake. Why Hogan won via countout is beyond me.

I've been watching wrestling since I can remember. My family use to be really into it and we would go to the Spectrum in Philly whenever they were in town. I have a slew of old PPV's laying around on VHS and a handful of polaroids somewhere with old pictures. And though I wasn't born, the Hogan era is easily my favorite era of wrestling. Just watching old shows on VHS or some of the old matches on DVD is just awesome. Shame my family has pretty much lost interest ever since the Attitude Era. I'd love to just watch one more show with my dad, those were truly the best moments I had growing up.

I watched Money in the Bank with my older brother. That was pretty awesome, considering I hadn't watched a wrestling show with him since, like, 2001. Let it be known that he called CM Punk "skinny fat" long before Triple H did. He also had this genius idea that they should turn Randy Orton face. Never would have thought of that.

Anyway, agree/disagree: Randy Orton should have defeated CM Punk with the patented punt in their Last Man Standing match. Seriously, is there a move more suited to use in a Last Man Standing match? I put it to you that there is not.

The answer is no. But then again, Punk has to stay out for a month afterward to sell it

Speaking of Money In the Bank, IC and myself had a loooong talk about were that match ranks in the greatest WWE title match of all time, and neither of us could come up with one that is better.

that may be the greatest WWE title match of all time.

It's up there, especially in terms of all around atmosphere. The only title match that I can think of, that would have an atmosphere to match it would be Andre vs Hogan and maybe Rock vs Austin.

I'm not one to ask for that sort of thing (I have a horrendous memory) but I can't think of one either. Mind you, I'm a big fan of the Brock Lesnar reign, and I finally saw Eddie Guerrero's title win the other night. That was pretty special.

Regarding the punt, has it not got to the point that one could not just stay out for, say, a week or a fortnight to sell it? I remember the Nexus members popping back pretty quickly, and I hear John Cena had the gall to stand up from it, though that could be bullshit.

Also, Sam, what say you about about Cody Rhode's gimmick update?

I couldnt hear a fucking thing he said monday, Ill be honest, I was ramming my penis into a vagina. I was trying to get my company to fall asleep so i could sneak out after midnight to go buy WWE12 and play it the rest of the night. Choices had to be made.

I noticed he did an evil laugh thingy, whats he got going on?

Also, I enjoy the new theme.

I suppose this is neither here nor there, but I haven't really made my mind up yet. It is Cody f'n Rhodes though, so I'm pretty sure it's going to be straight up brilliant. Essentially, it seems to be an amalgamation of Dashing and Deformed. Dashormed. He'll be all smiley and self-centered about how pretty and great he is, but he's clearly still got a screw loose. He'll laugh, then suddenly cuts it short and gives us a patented Goldust snarl.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he's been taking notes from his older brother, nor would I be displeased if they did Cody/Goldust, Title/Career at WrestleMania. Fucking book it.

Sounds fucking brilliant. Hope to see much more of it.

I've really got to watch Survivor Series. You know how John Hammond likes to be there for the birth of every dinosaur in Jurassic Park? I'm like that, only with CM Punk title reigns.

Husky Harris and CM Punk having a WM 20 "both men have traveled the world together, and now, they stand as champions together" moment, when one was heel, one was face, and neither were champions.

Taken from a post about WWE 12's broken ass Universe mode, but Daniel Bryan and CM Punk standing tall at the end of WrestleMania XXVIII; yes or no?

Sorry, did I say the end? I meant just before Rock and Cena go on. You know, for a piss break.

Not this year, no.

EDIT: Wait, they do still have time to build towards that. I like it.

We've still got, like, four months, yeah. But let's not forget that Mark Henry is going to be trapped in a cage with all 210 pounds of the beast that is Daniel Bryan this Tuesday - and the world heavyweight title is on the line!

Fantasy booking: Bryan immediately darts out of the cage, Henry tries to give chase but his leg buckles. New world heavyweight champion.

EH, they would need to pretty radically change his character around. The version of him on NXT and Nexus before he choked the fuck out of Justin ROberts could have pulled it off, not the version of him that has been around recent and messing about with the Bellas and AJ Lee.

Although, it can be pulled off. One week Punk was leader of New Nexus, the next week, he simply sits down on the stage and goes Apeshit, and viola, your next mega star.

So it can be done.

I've long been of the opinion that a single act can yield incredible amounts of momentum. Thank you for confirming this, NorCal.

The match will inevitably have two small sections of D. Brine offense with him spending the rest of his time bouncing off the walls. I've no idea where they're going with the briefcase, and I like that.
