WWE Cave, Release Non-Shit Daniel Bryan Merchandise: Join The Movement

Uncle Sam

Rear Naked Bloke
If you're like me - the sort who wakes up covered in someone else's blood, screaming, harrowed by the lack of decent Daniel Bryan merchandise since the first Yes! t-shirt - then your salvation has arrived. I - or, more accurately, WWEShop - present... The YES Movement:

A red shirt. A grey shirt. A parody of Shepard Fairey's 'Obey' artwork - you know, the one featuring Andre the Giant; this one:

No more horrible cartoon goats. No more excessive mentioning of beards.

If you're like me - the sort who wears a wrestling shirt once a year and hopes you'll wake up the following morning without someone else's blood on it - then it is a new dawn.

The framing of Bryan's visage also vaguely resembles the famous Che Guevara image. I'm still unsure what to think about a WWE shirt that looks like it had more than two seconds of thought put into it... seems topsy turvy by all accounts.

I think thats what the "inspiration" was for that t-shirt. Not that "Obey" shirt above that I've never seen.

The "Obey" piece is a famous repeating urban art meme, and both this shirt's layout and font clearly mimic it. Also the banner ad features the image posted on city buildings in a similar fashion, so it would seem the two references are both valid.

Fair enough, but the Che reference on its own is sufficient:

Well it's certainly better than the cartoon goats they've been doing.

I think they should do a cartoon skull goat though with Yes underneath it. Similar to Steve Austin's skull or The Rock's Brahma Bull, but with a goat. I feel a t-shirt like that could do very well. They'd have the cartoon appeal for kids and the badass look for adults

Definitely looks like Che Guerva. They need to sell YES flags and have someone spray paint this logo in the backgrounds during backstage interviews like it's some sort of subversive movement.

I would say it's going for Fairey's image more than the Ché image. I just feel the face is taken at more of an "Obama" angle. Sort of a mix of all 3 I guess.

What I am more fond of in particular is this all sort of goes back to the "They Live" movie with Rowdy Roddy Piper.

Ironically, the shirt you chose to link to is, itself, referencing one of Shepherd Farley's other works, his iconic HOPE image from Obama's first campaign:

And yes, the same Shepherd Farley is responsible for both the Andre the Giant has a Posse image, as well as Obama's HOPE.

LOL..alright, you guys win. I don't give a shit about the art-world and what is a derivative of what to be honest. I'll defer to your analysis of Daniel Bryan's new shirt.

Bottom line, its good to see Bryan actually have a shirt that doesn't seem to be marketed towards mentally ******ed people.

Think I wrote an essay on that Shepard Farley guy.

Nah, Milton Glaser. He would have been a good choice too.

That's a pretty cool shirt either way. Nice, simple, and just curious enough to have some people ask what it is so I can get to them leave by explaining my love for wrestling to them. Think I prefer the red though. The D Bry face is a little... Well its pretty weird looking.

Definitely a step up from Bryan's usual cornball Merch. If they can release a string of NON-CORNBALL shirts for Bryan then maybe he can move up from #4 to #1 in Merch sales.

I cannot fucking believe WWE isn't printing fucking money right now by making burgundy "YES!" Foam Fingers.

For the WWE to make all of their decisions based on the dollar, they really are dumb as hell to not be fully taking advantage of these chants. Seems so easy.

They ARE taking a step in the right direction with the "Obey" (I know you're thinking that Che Guevara/Obama Change/etc. posters were the inspiration you out of touch wrestling nerds lol, but I promise you some WWE focus groups were looking at what's trendy and they saw the Obey clothing line, google it lol. These are the same people that put YOLO as a sign option in the WWE video games. Nothing funnier than out of touch upper class old white people trying to be "cool". But anyways lol) styled tees.

Attention grabbing shirt that will get people's attention and by Wrestlemania, I'm betting we see seas of grey similar to the 3:16 and nWo shirts.

They just need to get on those "Yes!" Foam fingers. But be warned, Vince, if I see that shit I'm suing bruh bruh. Make an account and PM me for info on how to get those royalties to me.

I honestly think I saw two or three foam fingers like that in the crowd tonight on raw. I like the Red one as it is pretty basic but I love the other one because Daniel Bryan kinda looks like Jesus in it and that is HILARIOUS to me. I'll be placing my order in time for mania and I will be buying those foam fingers down in New Orleans.

The cartoon goats were cool too. If you guys haven't seen similar art on shirts worn by 20 somethings...then get out of your basement.

These shirts are cool too. I love the revolution look and the Che nod. They should do an Obey one too though.

As an Update to this article, Here's Newly Released Daniel Bryan "YES" hoodies that DO NOT look like Shit:

WWE has been on a roll as of late with less cheeseball apparel to sell for Bryan and I'm starting to wonder if it's because the Bellas are starting to use their stroke backstage to get input on his merch designs.
