WWE 2K16 Thread

I'd have liked to have seen a "face off" between Austin and Lesnar on the cover, each holding onto the championship belt from "their era", which blend together in the middle.

That would have been pretty cool.

I know I posted an almost identical message in the non spam area of the forum, but realised probably more people would read a message here!

If they had to have Austin on the cover, they could have gone with the champions from each "era". Hogan, Bret, Austin, Rock, HHH, Cena, Brock...

Having just Austin is odd, considering he's never wrestling again, and there's a whole roster of people they could spotlight instead.

This will be the first time I do not preorder a WWE game. You get to play The Terminator! WOWW!!!!! Out of all the stupid shit you can do for a game you pick The Terminator.

Haha, at least it's not as bad as when Fred Durst was in the game as a playable character...wasn't that WWF Smackdown! Just Bring It?

Still, a very weird character choice though...

That trailer was fucking AWESOME though.

They are going with the approach that you can get an oddball special edition DLC with pre-order since the game is come absolutely loaded with wrestlers right out the gate.

Smarten up, guys

I bought WWE 2K15 last weekend because it was like $23 or something ridiculous on PSN. I like that they attempted to make changes to the formula, and the game LOOKS incredible, but I honestly haven't had fun yet. I've only put like 30 minutes into it, to be fair, but it's just so slow and...boring.

I've thought this about WWE games for the last few years. They are trying more and more each year to make the game product look and feel like the actual in-ring WWE product you see on television. Which I guess is a decent goal - except that the WWE television product is largely really boring.

I like the more arcade feeling games. Running around, jumping off shit, doing ridiculous moves over and over again, being way too fast and agile. Suplexing Big Show with Rey Mysterio; you know, the good ole days. Almost every time I play a new game, I want to sit down and play WrestleMania 2000 or Here Comes the Pain. Usually I do.

If somebody could sell me on this game I'd appreciate it. I played through the first match of the CM Punk/John Cena rivalry. I wrestled a three-minute match, triggered a cut scene, then hit the wrong button in a QTE and had to start over. At that point I promptly turned off my console and walked away.

The only fun I've had with 2K15 was when one of my nephews was over on Sunday and we played some matches.

If Universe mode threw in popularity meters for the wrestlers like a game a few years back had and upped the story lines I'd be happy.

I think a reasonable request would be to add the option of having major angles in the show. Right now we can have a certain number of matches. So let's say in that section it says Matches: (Number would be 0-8) and it says Angles: (Number would be 0-8). You could only have 8 combined but someone like me would pick 5 matches and 3 angles. The angles would further story lines or could also help start them. They'd be bigger angles than say a wrestler bought a ticket to sit ringside to watch the match. Those minor stories would also remain.

I know people would ask for more detailed control here but realistically it seems like it would be a positive upgrade to the current system at least.

Terminator as a pre-order bonus doesn't entice me to pre-order the game at all but if it works for other people then that's cool for them. I have no negative opinion toward it either.

I like Terminator being in the game, because the kid in me will enjoy doing some badass moves to him, and seeing how he (it?) would sell the moves, and the novelty would certainly last a few hours.

Then it'd get stale. Because, realistically, there's no way he would ever lose. Alas, it is a game, so who cares? You don't like it? Don't use him.

It's a pity the game's going to be as shit as usual because that Terminator trailer was genuinely awesome. Nearly as awesome as the Sting trailer from last year.

The Terminator fits in perfectly with WWE. Just look at his character arc.

A completely unstoppable killing machine barely overcome by the babyface underdog; popularity and charisma see him turn face, partner with his former foe and defeat an even bigger killer.

Then starts the descent into increasing silliness, unneeded turns and old age, when he should be putting over younger talent but doesn't.

I can't fucking wait for the Terminator. It's awesome. And I love that the preorder character is a guy that isn't a major wrestling name, and rather a bonus, unnecessary (yet awesome) character.

At least no one is complaining that he's "taking a up a slot that could go to an actual wrestler" or anything.

I'm sure that's going on in other parts of the internet. It's nice not to see it here though.

"He's just taking up a slot that could be used on someone else!"

"We're supposed to be getting 120 unique characters."

"Yeah but that slot could have gone to a playable Kyle Edwards!"

If it had gone to a legit wrestler, than people would have complained that there was plenty of room to put them in the 120. Some people are never happy.

So the first screenshot is essentially the Texas Ten Gallon from Team Fortress 2.

That.....appears to be.....floating?

Oh well. If I can put it on while im kicking ass or at least knock it on the ground, ill be happy

It wasn't. "We've redone the engine" is Yuke's code for "We've bolted more stuff onto the engine." The "Predator engine," for instance, was just them putting better animation transitions into the game, it wasn't a new engine. It's basically a big game of Buckeroo.

The releasing of a new game every year must hinder the time to develop anything plus having an almost monopoly on the wrestling video game market and a loyal fan base leaves very little incentive to change things massively.

It would be interesting though to know if sales have dropped any within certain demographics.
