But then what is the reason for any drop off? A build up of releasing the same spruced up sting game engine, because 2K15 was particularly bad whether in terms of career mode, roster size, CAWs, mods etc or was it the transition between console generations?

I suppose that is what games companies pay analysts for.

I know my reasons for not buying a wrestling game in the last three years is combination of the first two plus the real killer of them not being released on the WiiU, which is sad.

I wasn't going to get it but then found it used for cheap and picked it up.

For me a big part of it was the lack of change in Universe mode and PS3 getting the shaft in the NXT mode. The PS4 career mode looked cool and had they included that on the PS3 version I would have bought it much sooner.

The DLC enticed me as well. Mostly having a real Sting, Bam Bam and Lex Luger.

For the game this year as I mentioned in a previous post any changes to Universe mode are going to be a factor into if/how soon I get the game. Roster will play into it as well.

The number sounds cool but who is included in that?

Do I get some cool legends that I haven't got to play as before? Or if it's ones I have played as before, are they ones interesting enough that I want to use on a regular basis?

I don't play anything outside of Universe modes unless I'm playing another human player, unless they were to add the NXT career mode to PS3 this year, so Universe mode and roster are the main two factors for me.

The game play is the same it has been for a few years now but I can look past that for the most part if it's made up for in other areas of the game.

The releasing of a new game every year must hinder the time to develop anything plus having an almost monopoly on the wrestling video game market and a loyal fan base leaves very little incentive to change things massively.

It would be interesting though to know if sales have dropped any within certain demographics.

All-Stars was an interesting direction, and I was all for the development of a secondary, rival, more arcade-like wrestling game. Best of all, it was totally different to the main series. Unfortunately, if memory serves, it performed woefully in sales.

I'm told it's because CAWs are getting to the point that they look just like the regular in-game models and obviously WWE doesn't want people thinking they've put Benoit in their game. It's probably bollocks.

VIA IGN:

MyCareer is back, and this time it goes a lot further, all the way to you gaining admission to the WWE Hall of Fame.
•Create a Diva, Create a Show, Create an Arena, and Create a Championship are back in!
•WWE Universe: Wrestlers can now be booked to multiple shows
•Online has been "overhauled."

•Ladder, handicap, and tornado tag match types added back in.
•No loading screens between entrances, and you can assault opponents during their entrance!
•Improved ref and manager AI.

Changes to the reversal system:

Reversals have long been a tough to balance element, either turning matches into a never-ending chain of non-moves, or being so tricky to use that one player ends up watching helplessly as they get beat to a pulp for minutes at a time. This year, two huge changes to how reversals work may actually solve the issue once and for all. You start each match with a limited stock of reversals. Once you use one, it will slowly regenerate over time, meaning that if you try to counter every move thrown your way, you'll be out in no time flat, leaving you completely vulnerable until one regenerates. What's more, you can now pass on your initial chance to reverse a move at its startup, and instead attempt a mosre difficult to time "major" reversal mid-move. It will cost you two reversal stocks, but the effects can be match-changing, debuffing your opponent in a variety of possible ways and giving you time to really turn things around.

Pretty obvious which ones im mega fucking pumped about. On the other hand, I really need to see what exactly these claims translate to actually looking like in practice.

Well I had my doubts about this game but so far the news is all good. Create a diva and the other creation suite stuff returning is great news for me as well as the extended career mode.

Hopefully they announce how many CAW slots we get soon and hopefully editing the attire of someone on the game doesn't take up one of those slots.

True, but I feel better with the GM mode than the Universe mode. The Universe mode is just a pick clusterfuck to me overall.

Just a fraction of the roster is out and this game already looks better than last year's.

Looks like we're going to get a good deal of NXT wrestlers this year and even though I may not watch it regularly anymore I'm still happy to see the ones that are being included so far.

When they figure out a way to not make the gameplay itself slow and boring, I'll be interested. But it's been a long time since a WWE game didn't have slow and boring gameplay.

Its because its meant to "be a sim"

I agree there should be an alternative similar to a faster more arcadey feel as an alternate.

There was one and nobody bought it: WWE All-Stars.

If the TNA game had gotten a sequel, i.e. not sold like winter coats in May, then it could well have been really good. The first TNA game was a good basis but it clearly wasn't the finished product. The memories of playing as Hernandez and having a finisher which always ended up throwing my opponent from the ring...

I understand it's a sim, but it's just WAAAY too boring. Real time speed is okay in sports games, because there are so many things going on at any given time. But in a wrestling game, there's only one thing happening and when you have to wait forever to do stuff, it's just awful.

Man, you would JUST LOVE the new chain grappling system they installed last year :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

The roster has me STOKED for this game. Even though I'll never use Terminator, I may pre order if they give him some awesome entrance music I wanna steal for a CAW.
