In a shocking turn of events on an unusually cold and dreary Monday morning in Connecticut, it was announced that Triple H will replace Vincent Kennedy McMahon as the new Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the WWE.
While the superstars of the WWE were wowing the world with their performances within the ring at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view, an even more intense battle was being waged backstage. There had been several reports of a power struggle over the past couple of months between Vince McMahon and his son-in-law, Triple H. The feud had even spilled over to live television as they confronted one another on Monday Night RAW on a couple of occasions, with both men putting forth their case as to why they should lead the WWE into the future.
However, as Money in the Bank faded to black, it seems as though the Board of Directors finally sided with Triple H. On that next morning, it was Triple H himself, looking like he had barely slept a wink, who called a press conference to not only announce his promotion, but outline some of the changes he intended to apply to the WWE immediately. Firstly, he bluntly stated that the he was renewing the brand split once again, and in an effort to make RAW and Smackdown equal, both shows would run for two hours each.
As well as intending to place more focus on the Divas, the tag team division and the developmental territory of NXT, Triple H promised that things would finally be run right for the first time in a long, long time. While he wasn't going to make any "groundbreaking" changes at first, Triple H boldly stated that with himself at the helm, the WWE will be better than it has ever been. After outlining a few more of his intended plans, Triple H refused to answer any questions and left the conference in a hurry after quickly stating that the brand new WWE rosters would be released in just a couple of hours. Not once did he even mention his father-in-law. And just like that, Triple H was on his way and a new era in the WWE had officially begun.
