Friday Night Smackdown! Preview
Spokane, Washington, 3rd June, 2011

'A Dish Best Served Cold'

Following an exciting, unpredictable and truly incredible Over the Limit event, the whole WWE Universe is on a high. Just a few days from the insanity of Monday Night RAW, the superstars of Smackdown will be looking to set their mark on the Road to Capitol Punishment which is just three weeks away. Amidst controversial circumstances, Alberto Del Rio managed to escape Seattle with the World Heavyweight Championship in tow with his personal ring announcer providing the assist. After spending several weeks prodding and poking Randy Orton in an attempt to push him over the edge, Del Rio may have done just that at Over the Limit. A furious Viper battered the Mexican Aristocrat from post to post on Sunday night, but he was unable to topple his rival from the top of the Smackdown kingdom. Surely Orton won’t give up on his dream to be the very best, but will it come at the cost of his sacred promise to his young family?

Edge and Christian’s contest on Sunday night was marred with controversy as the Rated R Superstar attacked his adversary before the match could even begin. With the help of the Hart Dynasty, Edge softened Captain Charisma up before finishing him off with a spear just a few moments after the bell had been rung. Speaking to reporters here at WWE.com, Christian admitted that his pride had gotten the best of him on Sunday night but following his defeat, he said that he is ‘even hungrier to become the World Heavyweight Champion’. Christian also stated that alongside capturing the world championship, teaching Edge a lesson is very high up on his list. While Edge is confirmed to give his thoughts on his future title match, his long time rival and former best will go one on one with Smackdown’s newest superstar – R-Truth. Following Over the Limit, Smackdown General Manager Teddy Long signed Truth to the blue brand and the rapping star will get to make an immediate impact as he wrestles Christian on his first night.

At Over the Limit, Rey Mysterio was able to capture the Intercontinental Championship and begin his third reign with the prestigious title. The Master of the 619 toppled both Curt Hawkins and Cody Rhodes, pinning the former to earn the victory and the gold. Although Cody Rhodes brutally beat down his most hated of rivals for a large chunk of the contest, he wasn’t able to conquer the luchador via pinfall or submission. Just like Wrestlemania, Mysterio outplayed his grotesque adversary and hurled him from the ring, allowing Rey to finish off a downed Curt Hawkins. While Rhodes bruised and battered his rival, it was the legendary former world champion that once again had the last laugh by capturing the Intercontinental Championship. But with a no touch clause still in effect between the two and Rey openly stating he is ‘done’ with the American Nightmare, how will Rhodes gain his revenge?

Another huge piece of news coming out of Sunday’s pay-per-view was the return of the very first Undisputed Champion to Smackdown, Chris Jericho. After entering the tag team turmoil in the final spot alongside Curt Hawkins, Jericho and his new partner avoided the majority of the competition and eventually put away the Usos to emerge as champions. The new WWE Tag Team Champions will address the WWE Universe this week on Smackdown, and a growing, competitive tag team division will surely be listening very closely from the shadows. Plus, the former champions Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel again clashed but this time it was at the worst time possible, resulting in them losing their grip on the tag team gold. After watching his partner receive positive reactions from the WWE Universe, Slater’s tagged himself into the contest and his spiteful actions led to the duo’s downfall. Is this it for the arrogant One Man Rock Band and the ambitious South African Sensation as a tag team pair?

Plus, Jack Swagger will still have plenty to complain about as he tapped out to a very impressive Daniel Bryan on Sunday night, albeit with a little help from Teddy Long. Could this be the win that will propel the American Dragon to the top? And will Swagger’s loss just give him more ammunition to continue his crusade against ‘his brand? Also, Sheamus continues to tell anybody who will listen that he is the sole reason the Undertaker left the WWE for good. Can he back up his claim of greatness with another dominant victory? All this plus more, only on Smackdown!

Friday Night Smackdown!
Spokane, Washington, June 3rd 2011

'A Dish Best Served Cold'

To start off the broadcast a quick video is played, highlighting the events of last Sunday’s Over the Limit pay-per-view. A final shot of a furious Randy Orton staring up at a victorious Alberto Del Rio is shown, before the show cuts to its usual introduction. The superstars of Smackdown are quickly flashed across the screen multiple times with the incredible backing of Green Day’s ‘Know Your Enemy’. As the video concludes we cut to the arena where a plethora of fireworks are set off around the stage, causing the crowd to explode with cheers. With Green Day pounding around the audience, the members of the WWE Universe hurl their signs towards the sky and hoot excitably for the show to begin. After spotting out some particularly rowdy fans, the camera pans to the announce desk where Josh Matthews, Matt Striker and Booker T are waiting.

Josh Matthews: On the back of a breathtaking Over the Limit we welcome you to another edition of Smackdown. Tonight, we come to you from Spokane, Washington but before the action begins, let me introduce the two men alongside me - Matt Striker and Booker T.

Matt Striker: Last Sunday’s Over the Limit event was an historic night for the entire WWE and certainly an historic night for the Smackdown brand. New champions were crowned, egos clashed amidst boots, fists and steel and one very legendary superstar made his return to the company.

Booker T: You hit ‘da nail on ‘da head Matt, but we’ve got to look towards the future and what a better way to do that than with another hot edition of Smackdown.

Josh Matthews: Well speaking of hot Randy Orton, who was struggling to contain his rage as it was in the build up to his match with Alberto Del Rio, was screwed out of the World Heavyweight Championship at Over the Limit. The Viper still has a bone to pick with Del Rio, but will he be able to keep it verbal, and not physical, for his young family at home?

Matt Striker: We’ll also see new Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio in action and hear from Chris Jericho, who is set to address the WWE Universe alongside his new tag team partner, Curt Hawkins later in the evening. Plus Edge, Christian, Daniel Bryan and all your favourite Smackdown stars so stay tuned for an amazing night of action!

Booker T: Enough talk guys, let’s do this!

I HEAR VOICES IN MY HEAD, THEY COUNSEL ME, THEY UNDERSTAND, THEY TALK TO ME!

*Voices*

To an absolutely thunderous ovation Randy Orton slips through the curtain and, instead of his usual methodical march, he quickly walks towards the ramp. Kitted out in his wrestling gear and a brown ‘Apex Predator’ WWE Shop t-shirt, Orton doesn’t stop for a single moment until he stands in the centre of the squared circle with a microphone in his palm. As the Viper waits for both his entrance music and the audience to lull he gazes around at the WWE Universe, his grey eyes full of anger.

Randy Orton: Last Sunday night, I wasn’t beaten or bested. Instead I had the World Heavyweight Championship unfairly ripped away from my grasp before I could lay a single finger upon it. I earned my shot, hell I overcame the entire Smackdown roster just for the honour of stepping in the ring for a chance to capture the most prized possession in this industry.

With his eyes flickering, Orton looks down at his free hand as it forms into a fist.

Randy Orton: Alberto Del Rio.

The crowd instantly jeer viciously at the mention of the World Heavyweight Champion.

Randy Orton: For the past four weeks you tried to push me over the edge by constantly prodding and poking me over and over again. But I didn’t snap. Oh don’t get me wrong, every time you stepped into my vision the voices in my head, they told me to do something dark, something evil. They urged me to do anything just to shut your mouth.

As the crowd pops, Orton’s snarl seems to soften.

Randy Orton: But then another voice drowned them out. Instead of cries to punt you in the head or batter you with my fists, reason invaded my mind. A softer voice told me that the way I was going to truly hurt you was by destroying your pride. By taking away from you the one thing you care about more than anything on this earth, you would have nothing. So, I controlled my anger and I focused entirely on the moment when I would get to step into the ring to face you.

Orton’s face scrunches in anger as his rival’s face pops into his head once more.

Randy Orton: But even in the ring, within the most sacred place on earth to me, you managed to disrespect me. When you can’t even defend the title around your waist without help, without tricks or without an ounce of dignity, you don’t deserve to be called a champion. You didn’t beat me at Over the Limit Del Rio, you just slipped around me. And let me tell you we’re not through and this isn’t finished, not by a long shot!

The Viper licks his lips, his eyes fiery.

Randy Orton: So if you’re the greatest champion in Smackdown history as you claim, you won’t decline my challenge. I’m asking you, hell, I’m demanding you give me another shot at the World Heavyweight Championship at Capitol Punishment. And this time I’ll make sure you, and you alone, have to face me like a man, like a true champion. I wouldn’t be surprised if you stay backstage all night in your private locker room, but you’re going to have come out and face me again someday. And since we’re talking about being a man, why don’t you-

CHECK, ONE TWO... OH YEAH!

*Get On Your Knees*

Orton visibly growls as he shifts his attention to the titantron and assesses the man making his entrance. Jack Swagger, obviously not the person the Viper wanted to see, strolls down to the bottom of the ramp and reels off a trio of push-ups. In his new ‘Smackdown’ wrestling singlet the All American American clambers into the ring, stands opposite Orton and stares directly into the Apex Predator’s cold, grey eyes.

Jack Swagger: Randy, Randy, Randy you had your shot, but I’m afraid you lost. You got beat in the middle of this ring. And I know I speak for the entire Smackdown locker room when I say; it would be best if you gracefully stepped aside and allowed someone else to have a chance at the World Heavyweight Championship.

The Viper breathes deeply before raising the microphone to his mouth, obviously trying to keep his cool.

Randy Orton: This doesn’t concern you; this is between myself and Alberto Del Rio. So why don’t you turn around, go back to where you came from and allow the two of us to sort this ou-

Jack Swagger: Well, I’m sorry but this is my brand and it has everything to do with me. Just face it, you didn’t win. But you shouldn’t be complaining, in fact, I’ve never heard someone moan and whimper so much in my entire life over absolutely nothing. You aren’t being screwed by idiotic officials and your life isn’t being ruined by the corrupt establishment here on Smackdown. I’ve got more problems than anybody in this company, but do you hear me whining each and every week?

Jack Swagger grimaces around at the WWE Universe as they hiss loudly in disagreement with the former world champion’s last statement.

Jack Swagger: You don’t deserve another title match over a hard working, blue chipper like me, and I highly doubt anybody is going to give it to you.

Randy Orton: With all due respect Jack, I was screwed out of the World Heavyweight Championship on Sunday, and I need a rematch more than anything on this earth. I don’t care what I have to do; I’m getting another match with Del Rio.

The audience pop loudly as Orton slowly nods his head.

Jack Swagger: But it doesn’t work like that. You lost fair and square, you squandered your opportunity and if you’re not going to move aside, I’ll damn well make you. You’re not (Jack whips out his air quotations) ‘one of the best in the world’, you never will be and that’s a fact. You’re just an angry, deranged freak and Smackdown doesn’t need any more of those, what Smackdown needs is winners, is true champions. Something, Randy Orton, you are not.

After Swagger pokes the Viper in the chest and Orton, his eyes alight, takes a step towards the All American American.

Randy Orton: I want Alberto Del Rio in the ring in three weeks time and I’m not going to stop until I do, but I know who I want to fight right here, right now.

With a huge roar, the audience urges the Viper forward.

Jack Swagger: I’m sure you want to beat the holy hell out of me but I really don’t think you should, what would your wife say about that?

Orton looks ready to blow as Swagger continues to smirk arrogantly at him.

Jack Swagger: Now, now Randy don’t lose your cool. When something gets broken, it’s very, very hard to mend and you don’t want to go destroying your promises, do you?

The crowd boos furiously as Swagger drops his microphone, gets right into Orton’s face and smiles ever so greasily. Orton shuts his eyes and grinds his teeth but he doesn’t do anything more than that and it just makes the All American American even happier. After one final smirk at the Viper, Swagger powers back up the ramp, his arms spread out to his side in an arrogant pose. As he continues to stand in the centre of the squared circle, Orton watches Jack make his exit with a grimace on his mug. The WWE Universe supports him with rigorous applause but the Viper seems distant, his mind on other things and his rage nearly bubbling to the surface.

With *And The Horse He Rode In On* playing in the background, Smackdown returns to the sight of Husky Harris in the ring, his new accomplice Michael Tarver barking orders behind him. The duo receive a small smattering of heat as the rotund star’s name is announced but Husky and Tarver don’t respond to the crowd, instead they converse quickly as they stare at the stage. On commentary, Matt Striker explains the alliance formed between the two former Nexus members was forged just last night on Superstars, but the pair is already looking to create headlines once again on Smackdown.

BOOYAKA, BOOYAKA...

*Booyaka 619*

A blistering ovation meets Rey Mysterio as he blasts onto the stage in a sharp red attire and mask. A huge grin on his face, the legendary luchador looks ecstatic as he walks down the ramp with his newly won title belt around his waist. After clambering up the steel steps, Mysterio slips through the ropes and climbs up the nearest corner so that he can stand above his battalion of eager fans and hold the Intercontinental Championship high above his head.

Match #1
Non-Title Singles Match
Husky Harris w/ Michael Tarver vs. Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio

Rey Mysterio was full of confidence following his championship win on Sunday and it showed in the ring, as he flied around the squared circle with extra enthusiasm. However, Harris, who was keen to impress on his Smackdown debut, didn’t allow the Master of the 619 to push him aside without a fight. Although the luchador was able to disorient the rotund superstar in the early going with his signature high flying offence, Harris surprised the majority of the audience by dominating the Intercontinental Champion for a large section of the contest. After he crunched Rey into the corner with his huge girth, Husky connected with a fallaway slam to leave the Mexican gasping for air. From that moment on, Husky latched onto Mysterio and barely allowed him a moment of reprieve. However, several minutes into the match the Intercontinental Champion was able to begin his recovery after he countered Harris’ attempted suplex and drove his head into the canvas with a DDT.

Husky clutches at his head and isn’t able to resist as Rey Mysterio wheelbarrows up his body, grabs a heavy hold of the rotund superstar’s neck and plants it into the mat with a bulldog. Harris tries to wander towards the corner to create some space between himself and his opponent, but Rey cuts him off with a beautiful spinning wheel kick. As Husky stumbles, Mysterio drops him like a sack of potatoes with a dropkick to the bridge of the nose. Despite taking a barrage of offence, Husky groggily tries to get to his feet and Mysterio watches him intently, his two hands clutching the top rope. The former Nexus man staggers forward and the Intercontinental Champion lines him, quickly springs off the ropes and launches himself at his competitor. However, Harris catches his much smaller opponent, lifts him into the air and drives him to the mat with an incredible uranage.

With a lick of his lips and a glance at a gleeful Michael Tarver on the outside, Husky prepares for the killer blow. After sprinting off the ropes, Harris launches his weight forwards with a senton but Rey Mysterio rolls out of the contact and sends his opponent crashing to the ground. The Intercontinental Champion springs up to his feet, bundles into Husky and whips him into the ropes with a sharp hurricanrana. As the WWE Universe explodes Rey builds up some momentum, powers around Husky as he remains perched on the second rope and empathically drives a pair of feet into his face. Harris falls backwards onto his gut and Rey immediately takes advantage, as he flies through the air and thumps his leg onto the back of his opponent’s head. After struggling to hoist Husky onto his back, the Intercontinental Champion hooks a leg...

3!!! THE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION PULLS OUT ANOTHER VICTORY AS HE OVERCOMES A VERY HUNGRY HUSKY HARRIS!

Winner: Rey Mysterio by pinfall (7:59)

Rey allows the official to raise his hand proudly in the air and as the referee hands him his title belt, he cradles it gently to his chest. With the crowd raining cheers down upon him Mysterio slips to the outside and begins his trek to the back, slapping each and every hand that is shoved in his direction. In the middle of the ring, Michael Tarver helps Husky Harris to his feet and the duo watch as Rey gives one final salute to the WWE Universe before he slips behind the curtain, the Intercontinental Championship around his neck.

We suddenly cut backstage to the sight of Justin Gabriel leaning against a wall, his attention on his wrist as he wraps it tightly with tape. The South African Sensation continues to scowl defiantly at his arm and doesn’t even look up when Heath Slater, a solemn look on his face, wanders into the shot. The One Man Rock Band is lashed with heat by the fans back in the arena and Slater stares into the eyes of his tag team partner, as if butter wouldn’t melt.

Heath Slater: Look Justin about Sunday, I know what I did was wrong and from the bottom of my heart, I’m so-

Justin Gabriel: How many times are you going to say sorry Heath? You went too far this time; you cost us the WWE Tag Team Championships and you embarrassed me in front of the entire world. I thought we were partners, damnit. I thought we were friends man and you betrayed me again.

Slater, with those big puppy dog eyes, puts an arm out to stop Gabriel.

Heath Slater: I am your friend Justin and I always will be. I don’t know what else I can say, I have no idea what came over me at Over the Limit but I regret my actions more than anything on this earth.

Gabriel, still scowling, looks Slater up and down but doesn’t speak a word.

Heath Slater: Look, I don’t want this partnership to end, you’re the greatest friend I’ve ever had in my life and I’m begging for forgiveness here. After you win your match later tonight, how about we go grab something to eat, on me, and discuss how we are going to beat Chris Jericho and Curt Hawkins next week in our championship rematch. Imagine that, Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel four time tag team champs!

The South African’s expression softens and he unfolds his arms but the WWE Universe urges him not to take Slater’s smooth talking seriously.

Justin Gabriel: You got a deal man, let’s do it.

Slater rushes forward to embrace his tag team partner and as they break apart, the duo walks off down a hallway side by side.

GO!

*Just Close Your Eyes*

Christian slips through the curtain and steps out onto the stage, a hand to his brow as he searches for his beloved Peeps. With a massive round of positive noise pushing him forward, Captain Charisma slides into the ring and hurls his singlet to the outside. The popular Canadian ascends a corner and looks out at his multitude of followers but he seems far from thrilled, an angry expression covering his mug.

WHAT’S UP?!

*What’s Up?*

To a hearty ovation, R-Truth energetically charges towards the ring with his trusted microphone in hand. Truth continues his rap as he steps up onto the apron and the WWE Universe responds to each slogan he shouts towards them. With a small jig, Truth finishes his song and gets ready for the contest ahead. Before the referee can ring the bell to officially start the match, the two superstars in the ring grasp hands in a show of respect.

Match #2
Singles Match
Christian vs. R-Truth

Both Christian, after his loss at Over the Limit, and R-Truth, on his Smackdown debut, had a lot to prove in the second match of the night and they fought tooth and nail to garner the victory. The pair went back and forth for the entire length of the contest but it was Captain Charisma who seemed to boast the majority of the crowd’s support. The two popular superstars exchanged a series of quick near falls as the contest reached its close and, with the crowd on the edge of their seats, it looked like either competitor could be heading home with the win.

With Christian backpedalling, R-Truth swamps his opponent with right hands and then finishes the onslaught off with a sharp kick to his gut. With Captain Charisma doubled over, Truth cracks off the ropes and launches himself back at Christian. In a flurry the rapping superstar unleashes a vicious axe kick aimed at the back of Christian’s head, but the popular Canadian just avoids the shot. Now with Truth on the back foot, Christian wraps him in an inverted headlock and swiftly drives him into the mat with a DDT. With his hands resting on the turnbuckle, Christian anxiously waits for Truth to stagger up to a stable base. When the rapping superstar does get to his feet, Captain Charisma launches himself towards his opponent and floats over Truth’s back with a sunset flip. However, Truth doesn’t allow his shoulders to be pinned to the mat as he quickly rolls out of the cover and springs to his feet.

Captain Charisma attempts to follow him but by the time he stands up Truth is already on top of him, clattering him back down with a sharp clothesline. The duo meet once more in the centre of the squared circle and Truth takes control as he ducks Christian’s tired right hand with a pair of splits. As the popular Canadian turns on his heels, the North Carolina native clocks him across the cheek with an incredible spinning calf kick. Christian retreats to the other side of the ring and drags himself up by the corner while Truth watches intently, his chest heaving with exhaustion. Truth immediately charges forward at Captain Charisma but the Canadian avoids the blow by slipping through the second rope. After battering into the ‘buckles, Truth is sent sprawling backwards as Christian powers his legs up and crashes his two feet into his opponent’s mush.

Before he even has time to consider his next move, R-Truth is again sent onto his back as Christian jumps from the top rope and crunches his jaw with an elbow. Now in control, Christian begins to frantically clap his hands as his opponent groggily stands to his feet. With the crowd echoing Captain Charisma’s actions, Christian latches onto Truth’s arms and curls them around. However, the rapping superstar breaks free and, before Christian can get another grip on Truth, he bounces off the ropes. As Christian turns to face Truth, the North Carolina native hurls his body forward at his opponent with the exhilarating Lie Detector but Captain Charisma dodges the blow. Truth batters off the canvas and Christian is right behind him, hooking his arms up in preparation for the Killswitch. Just as Christian flips Truth onto his front, the former United States Champion snaps away from Captain Charisma’s hold.
With his opponent flustered, Truth leaps forward and grabs a hold of Christian’s head to deliver the What’s Up – only for the Canadian to shove Truth towards the mat. The North Carolina native’s head smacks sharply off the canvas and he can only wince as Christian leaps on top of him and pulls him into a jackknife cover, holding his opponent’s legs tightly in his grasp...

3!!! R-TRUTH KICKS OUT BUT IT’S A SECOND TO LATE!

Winner: Christian by pinfall (9:22)

The crowd erupts as Captain Charisma slowly stands to his feet and allows the official to raise his arm towards the sky in victory. Although not his usual self, Christian cracks a small smile as he helps R-Truth to his feet. The rapping superstar clutches the back of his head and seems reluctant to accept Christian’s hug but eventually, with the WWE Universe urging him forward, he embraces the popular Canadian. The pair breaks apart and Christian raises his opponent’s hand into the air but Captain Charisma quickly loses his grip on Truth’s arm as he is battered from behind by Edge! The audience jeer furiously as the Rated R Superstar appears from out of nowhere, a steel chair in hand and a sick grin on his greasy mug. Like a lion observing its fallen prey, the former world champion licks his lips as he stands over a downed, and groaning, Christian.

R-Truth rushes forward in order to get the Rated R Superstar away from his long time rival but his fatigued attack falls to nothing, as he is clobbered across the skull with a chair shot. The entire crowd gasps with shock as Truth crumples, his head having taken the full force of Edge’s ferocious chair attack and he remains eerily still on the canvas. After calling for a microphone to be handed to him by Tony Chimel, Edge folds his weapon out and sits down upon it so the front pivot of the chair is just inches from Christian’s neck, pinning him to the ground.

Edge: A great man, a great champion once said that the moment of victory is wonderful, but it is also sad as it means that your journey has ended. But while that may be true for you sad, sad people it isn’t the case for me. Because with my victory over Christian my journey is not over, it’s just beginning. Not only did I prove that I was the better man than the ever so popular, the ever so gracious Captain Charisma I earned a match for the World Heavyweight Championship at a time of my choosing.

As the crowd boos him loudly, the Rated R Superstar runs a hand through his greasy hair.

Edge: But for now, I’m going to sit back and bide my time. I’m going to do what I do better than anybody in the history of this company and that’s wait, wait for the perfect opportunity to strike. You see unlike all of you here tonight, I can be honest, especially with myself. In my life I have never been the biggest dog in the fight, I’ve never been the strongest but I’ve always, always been the smartest. And I’m going to do the smart thing and let Del Rio, Orton or whoever else that wants to throw their hat into the ring beat the holy hell out of each other.

With hate in his eyes Edge looks down at a still Christian, across to an unconscious R-Truth and then up at the audience.

Edge: I told the world that I would defeat Christian fairly in the middle of the ring at Over the Limit, and I did it. Well when I choose to cash in my title match, I’m telling you I’m not going to let my opportunity go to waste. I will be the future World Heavyweight Champion and you can quote me on that.

The Rated R Superstar’s music explodes around the arena as the vindictive Canadian gets up from his chair, hurls his microphone to the other side of the ring and walks quickly out of the ring. After powering up the ramp, Edge launches the rock horns into the air as he stands tall on the stage and slips through the curtain to vicious jeers. Meanwhile, a barrage of officials and doctors charge out to the squared circle to check on a visibly injured Christian and a very, very still R-Truth.

*Commercial*

Back from another break, we are immediately shown a plush lock room where Alberto Del Rio is standing. The Mexican Aristocrat doesn’t remain in the room for long as he scoops his World Heavyweight Championship onto his shoulder and heads for the door. After checking that the coast is clear, Del Rio turns back to his locker room and slowly closes the door so that it barely makes a sound as it hits its hinges. After shutting the door, the champion spins on his heels and nearly has a heart attack as he comes face to face with – Todd Grisham!

Todd Grisham: I’m sorry to scare you Alberto, but would it alright if I asked you a couple of questions?

Del Rio quickly adjusts his title belt over his suit and faces the interviewer with a grimace.

Alberto Del Rio: ‘Ju didn’t scare me Tim, ‘ju just startled me. And I already know that you’re going to ask me who I think deserves to face me for my World Heavyweight Championship. Tell me I’m right, menor.

Todd Grisham sighs, nods his head slowly and then pushes his microphone further into the Mexican Aristocrat’s face.

Alberto Del Rio: Nobody deserves to face me for my title unless they earn it. I will gladly step into the ring and put this right here (Del Rio indicates the gleaming belt on his shoulder) on the line, to whoever earns it. But that, that gusano Randy Orton thinks he can step into the ring with me once again after I already defeated him on Sunday night? In front of the world, I vanquished the Viper at Over the Limit but yet he whimpers like a pup, refusing to accept defeat.

The crowd lashes the pompous champion with boos, forcing him to stop and gather his thoughts.

Alberto Del Rio: In fact, I defended my title with, uh, passion and pride but Randy Orton calls me a cheat. Irony is a funny thing Tim and if you ask me, Orton is the single biggest hypocrite in this company. If he says that he forgets what being a true champion is all about, he is not only lying to the WWE Universe, he’s lying to his beautiful wife and he’s lying to gorgeous little girl.

A satisfied smirk on his mug, Del Rio adjusts his suit as he looks behind his back.

Alberto Del Rio: And for Teddy Long’s sake, I hope he makes the right decision regarding my World Heavyweight Championship because I’m not the only one who is upset with his performance as of late.

His nose turned down, Del Rio swivels away from Todd Grisham and determinedly walks away from the interviewer.

Todd Grisham: Thank you for your time Alberto...

WEEEEEEEEEEELL IT’S A BIG SHOW...

*Crank It Up*

To a hearty ovation, the Big Show steps out onto the stage and begins to slowly make his way down to the ring. Although Matt Striker notes the giant’s absence from Smackdown for the past number of weeks, the wrestling brain also informs the WWE Universe that Show dominated everybody who stepped in his way on Superstars. With a crooked smile, the Big Show hauls his huge weight over the top rope and plays to the fans with a huge, bear like roar.

*The Rage*

With a huge pop from his home town supporters following him to the ring, Daniel Bryan charges down the ramp in a crimson tracksuit top and a determined look on his face. After clambering up the steel steps in an instant, the American Dragon bolts past his opponent for the night and ascends the corner opposite. With his finger pointed towards the sky, Bryan soaks in the adulation from the Washington public before he spins on his heels and drops to the mat.

Match #3
Singles match
The Big Show vs. Daniel Bryan

Both superstars put everything on the line in order to gain the victory in an incredibly hard hitting contest. Although Show tried to take control of his opponent with his massive height and weight advantage, Bryan made a nuisance of himself and forced the giant into several mistakes. With the match nearing its conclusion, Bryan’s attempt to ground Show with his patented LeBelle Lock failed miserably and the giant broke free.

Show scrambles up onto his knees but Bryan rushes towards him and tries to keep him down with a trio of short, sharp kicks to the giant’s chest. With a war cry, Daniel unleashes another round house at Show’s skull but the former world champion catches his opponent’s leg in mid swing. Using his impressive power, Show launches the American Dragon back across the ring with a single shove. As Bryan tries to squander Show’s momentum by rushing back at him, the giant crunches into his belly with a vicious spear. As the American Dragon attempts to catch his breath with his back resting against the ropes, Show wraps a huge hand around his neck and dumps him to the outside. The giant takes his time to follow his opponent, a hand to his seemingly bruised chest. However, the Big Show takes a moment too long to drop down to the outside and Bryan takes his chance, leaps to the apron and crunches the giant’s skull onto the apron with a DDT.

The Big Show flops down to the padding on the outside and groggily tries to get to a stable base, his eyes wide. But Bryan is already on him like a rabid dog as he launches himself from the top and clocks Show across the chin with a flying knee, the crowd calling for their home town superstar to get back into the ring. The American Dragon looks as he though he is about to slide back into the squared circle but after noticing a determined Show propping up onto a knee, he faces back off with his opponent. The official begins his count as Bryan batters Show with a forearm, knocking him silly...

Winner: Double Count-Out (6:47)

Even though the official calls for the bell to be rung, Daniel Bryan determinedly continues to throw lefts and rights, punches and kicks at the Big Show. The giant initially cowers under the blows, almost unsure whether the American Dragon has heard the bell but his face quickly curls into a snarl as Daniel throws another flurry of forearms his way. Bryan winds back to unleash a sharp roundhouse kick but Show catches his opponent’s leg and stares him in the eyes. Although the giant looked as they he was about to thump the defenceless Dragon in the side of the head with his clasped right fist, he instead slowly explains to Bryan that the contest is over. After Bryan relaxes his body, Show gets to his feet and raises his opponent’s arm into the air so that the crowd can cheer the pair of them.

The crowd instantly awaken after the break to pour heat onto Edge, who is sauntering backstage with his a bag in hand and the Hart Dynasty flanking him. The Rated R Superstar seems to be heading towards the parking lot, deep in conversation with the Harts but he stops dead in his tracks as Smackdown General Manager Teddy Long cuts him off. Teddy doesn’t appear to be in a good move and the grin spread across Edge’s face doesn’t make him in any happier, it simply appears to infuriate him further.

Edge: What’s up chief, how can your future World Heavyweight Champion help ‘ya?

Teddy is fuming and doesn’t take kindly to the Rated R Superstar’s cheeky smirk.

Theodore Long: What did I tell you last week?

After trying to suppress a laugh, Edge straightens up and stares at his general manager.

Edge: You say a lot of things Teddy, it’s kind of hard to keep up wi-

Theodore Long: What did I tell you last week?

Teddy looks about set to blow and after Edge ushers Smith and Kidd away, the Canadian takes a step towards his employer.

Edge: Honestly, this isn’t the way you should be spe-

Theodore Long: I told both you and Christian that you were to settle your dispute at Over the Limit in the ring. You deliberately want against my orders on Sunday, you did it once again here tonight and I have no doubt in my mind that you’ll continue to do so. I am the general manager of this show and I won’t be disrespected, not by you and not by anybody else.

The Rated R Superstar’s eyes flicker and he snarls at Long.

Edge: What the hell are you talking about; I earned my title shot fair and square and I did it in the ring.

Theodore Long: Oh you’ll get your shot, don’t worry about that. But no one man is bigger than Smackdown and when you go against my wishes and put the safety of other superstars at risk, I have to take action. I think it would be good for everybody, especially you, if you had some time to think and reflect on your career here on Smackdown. And that’s why-

Edge spins on his heels as a small army of security guards flock around him.

Theodore Long: I’m suspending you indefinitely.

The WWE Universe roars their approval as Edge is snatched by the barrage of security personal and ushered away from his general manager. Teddy takes a deep breath and walks away from the scene, allowing the camera to focus on Edge as he is pulled towards an exit, kicking and screaming all the way.

IT’S A SHAME THAT THEY LOST THEIR HEAD, A CARELESS MAN COULD WIND UP DEAD!

*Written In My Face*

To a heavy load of jeers and boos, the Celtic Warrior strolls out onto the ramp, kitted out in an pair of bright green tights, and hammers his chest over and over as he shouts wildly. Sheamus thunders down to the ring and crashes through the ropes so that he stands tall in the centre of the squared circle, a rather aggressive look on his mug. After tossing his Celtic necklace to the outside of the ring, Sheamus puts his fists up in front of him in preparation for his opponent to make their entrance.

*Black or White*

The former WWE Tag team Champions make their entrance next and it is Justin Gabriel who leads the way, Heath Slater following closely behind. The One Man Rock Band seems intent on barking orders at his tag team partner but Gabriel instead focuses on leaping to the apron and posing towards the members of the WWE Universe. The South African Sensation receives a bit of a mixed reaction, mainly due to Slater sticking out his tongue and rolling his head back and forth on the other side of the apron, raising the ire of much of the crowd.

Match #4
Singles Match
Sheamus vs. Justin Gabriel w/ Heath Slater

While Sheamus controlled the majority of the early goings with his power and brutish offence, Justin Gabriel didn’t allow the Irish Juggernaut to dominate him completely. After absorbing a plethora of offence from the former WWE Champion, Justin Gabriel was able to plant his opponent’s mush into the canvas with a sharp DDT and create some space. With a defiant attitude against the unpopular Irishman and his dazzling move set on show, Gabriel had most of the WWE Universe eating out of his hand by the time he connected with an amazing springboard moonsault. As the contest winded down, Heath Slater stopped his loud mouth routine and instead watched his partner light up the ring with a scowl.

Gabriel swamps into his opponent and unloads a trio of sharp forearms to Sheamus’ mush, causing the Irishman to take a step backwards. Sheamus pushes Gabriel away and quickly launches himself forward, swinging a heavy double axe handle which his opponent is able to duck. The South African Sensation connects with a trio of hard kicks to Sheamus’ ribs and then, as the Irishman is reeling, he sends him to the mat with a rolling round house kick. As the crowd watches on approvingly, Sheamus stumbles onto his feet and Gabriel is already on him, cracking into his chest with a clothesline. The shot doesn’t take Sheamus and neither does a second clothesline, or a third! Instead Justin barges his opponent into the ropes with a dropkick, and then sends him sprawling across the ring with a beautiful arm drag. The Celtic Warrior seems amazed at his opponent’s surging attack and can only pull himself into the corner, his ginger hair frazzled.

Before Sheamus can catch his breath, Gabriel charges at him and crunches him into the corner. As he staggers out, the Irish Juggernaut is battered with an enzuigiri and then dropped to the mat with a discus elbow. While Heath Slater watches on, his arms folded, his tag team partner quickly climbs to the top rope and stays perched over his downed opponent for a number of moments. Finally Gabriel rises up and scans the crowd, who give him a hearty cheer, before he flies through the air with his patented 450 splash, only to hit nothing but the mat! The Celtic Warrior scrambles to his feet and immediately scoops Gabriel up in his grip, so that he can plant him across his knee with the Irish Curse. Now in control, Sheamus looks set to finish his opponent off as he takes a few steps backwards, beats his chest repeatedly and patiently waits for Justin Gabriel to get to a stable base.

Gabriel pops up and Sheamus swiftly charges forward to unleash a vicious Brogue Kick but the South African avoids it, instead sending the Irishman across the ring with an arm drag. Sheamus falls into the path of the referee, causing the official to set his attention on the falling Celtic Warrior so that he too isn’t bowled over. On the other side of the ring, Justin Gabriel is still getting his bearings and cannot defend himself as his head if shotted off the top rope with a neckbreaker, from Heath Slater! The crowd unleashes hate upon the Southerner as he slowly makes his way up the ramp, a grin on his face. The One Man Rock Band’s smile only grows as he watches Justin Gabriel almost gets his head booted from his shoulders by a brutal Brogue Kick. Sheamus falls into a cover and hooks a leg...

3!!! SHEAMUS PICKS UP YET ANOTHER VICTORY BY PUTTING JUSTIN GABRIEL DOWN!

Winner: Sheamus by pinfall (6:12)

The Celtic Warrior stands tall after picking up the win and brushes the referee off, instead placing a hearty foot on the chest of a fallen Justin Gabriel. Receiving a huge round of heat, Sheamus holds one beefy fist in the air and uses the other to draw a slash across his throat as he stares down at the South African beneath him. Meanwhile, Slater smirks broadly and shakes his head from side to side before he disappears behind the curtain, his betrayal complete.

A dark and dreary gym comes into view where several pieces of dusty work out equipment surround a giant, battered wrestling ring. The only thing that moves, the only thing that seems to be alive, is a single section at the back of the gargantuan room. A figure, his back turned to the camera, pumps a huge bar stacked with weights up to his chest and then drops it to the ground. After he completes a few more repetitions, the man hurls the weights to his side and wipes a round of sweat from his forehead. As the man speaks, his voice is tinted with a heavy accent.

?: In this day and age power, bravery and chivalry is nothing. Two thousand and twelve is a very different place to the world I grew up in. But not all change is a good thing; on the contrary it can be very dangerous.

The man takes a seat at a scruffy bench to recover from his workout.

?: I’ve always been a man of action and if I see something I don’t think is right, I make it right.

After a small silence, the man steps up from the bench and walks towards a row of rusted lockers.

?: Especially if I get a push in the right direction.

The man yanks open a locker and pulls out two items; a buzzing mobile phone and a bustling white envelope. After dumping the glowing phone in his pocket, the man opens up the envelope to reveal a large, crumpled set of green bills before the scene fades to black.

As we return from another commercial break we are greeted by the sight of Teddy Long, who steps into his office with a sigh, looking rather haggard. Long’s night doesn’t get any better as Alberto Del Rio, his title hanging off his shoulder as always, gets up from the general manager’s own couch and steps towards him. However, Long has to suppress another sigh as another man gets up and stands next to the World Heavyweight Champion, that being Vincent Kennedy McMahon! The crowd back in the arena gives the boss a massive mixed reaction as Mr McMahon coolly stares down the Smackdown General Manager.

Mr McMahon: Look Teddy I’ve been watching Smackdown very closely over the past few weeks and frankly, you’ve left a lot to be desired. I thought maybe my phone calls would have been enough of a wakeup call but apparently not, this show is still in ruins.

Teddy cleans his glasses on his shirt, puts them back on his face and stares up at his employer.

Theodore Long: Ruins? Sir what do you mean? I’ve been running this show for years now and not only do I believe I am doing a stand up job, I feel as though the entire WWE Universe does to.

The crowd gives a huge round of cheers for the popular general manager but on the other side of the office, Vince McMahon doesn’t seem as impressed.

Mr McMahon: Well where do I start? You’ve been misusing talent, you’ve allowed personal bias to get in the way of duty and, despite what you say, you couldn’t give a damn what the people want. If you did then why would you suspend one of the most popular superstars in Smackdown history, why would you suspend Edge just moments ago?

Major heat for the Rated R Superstar as Alberto Del Rio nods his head enthusiastically.

Mr McMahon: Why would you keep Cody Rhodes and Rey Mysterio apart when the entire world wants to see them rip each other apart?

A chorus of boos sounds out for Mr McMahon and Teddy no longer seems slightly flustered, he seems determined.

Theodore Long: I only have the safety of my superstars in mind, sir.

Vince doesn’t seem terribly impressed as he places a hand on Alberto Del Rio’s shoulder.

Mr McMahon: Well if that’s so, then why haven’t you told Randy Orton he isn’t going to get another shot at Mr Del Rio’s championship? Why would you allow that freak to still think he has a chance at the title, you know what he is capable of Tedd-

Alberto Del Rio: Besides, ju’ idiot, he isn’t even in my league and I already beat him at Over the Limit. Why would he get another shot at greatness when he has done everything but earn it?

With another pat on his shoulder, Vince urges Del Rio to calm down as the crowd lashes him with hate in the background.

Theodore Long: With all due respect sir, this is my show and I will do with it as I will. I have already organised for Randy Orton to face Jack Swagger later on in the main event but you’ve given me a good idea for next week Alberto. Seeing as how you feel the Viper should have to earn a title opportunity, he will get that chance in a match next week. If he emerges victorious he will get one more match at you and the World Heavyweight Championship in three weeks time at Capitol Punishment. And seeing as how you are confident that Randy Orton isn’t even worthy of one more title shot, you will get a chance to prove your claim because his opponent for next week will be Alberto Del Rio.

As the crowd voices their approval for the big main event match set for next week, Alberto trades glances with Mr McMahon.

Theodore Long: Now if you wouldn’t mind Alberto, sir, I have got some work to finish before the night is out.

The WWE Universe admires Teddy’s balls at standing up to his boss but just as it looks like Vince and Del Rio are about to leave, the head of the WWE turns back to the Smackdown General Manager.

Mr McMahon: You just listen to what I said Teddy because you don’t any more visits from yours truly, trust me.

The crowd barely changes their tune as the Hart Dynasty makes their entrance, eliciting more heat from the Washington faithful. While Tyson Kidd follows behind his tag team partner with an arrogant smirk, David Hart Smith leads the way with a determined air about him. The big Canadian slides into the ring and charges into the centre of the ring, throwing his beefy arms into the air as he does so. A smarmy grin still on his mug, Kidd hurls over the top rope and joins his partner in the ring to offer some last minute encouragement.

*The Masterpiece*

A surprisingly big, big reaction sounds out around the arena for the start of Chris Masters’ entrance music. The juggernaut from Los Angeles makes the crowd wait for a few moments and as the song hits its peak, a huge wall of white pyro lights up the ramp. It is then at this time, as the fireworks completely cover the stage, that Masters blasts through the pyro and reveals himself to the WWE Universe. To another hearty ovation, Masters stares up at his opponent, raises his fists into the air and clasps them together to symbolise his patented submission before he steps into the squared circle.

Match #5
Singles Match
David Hart Smith w/ Tyson Kidd vs. Chris Masters

David Hart Smith and Chris Masters put on a hard hitting, albeit rather short match that made up for it lacked in time with added excitement. The duo exchanged punches, slams and ground shaking moves that left the two superstars battered, bruised and in Masters’ case, slightly bloody. After taking control, Smith dropped Masters with a huge Saito suplex and the Masterpiece only just managed to power out of a cover with milliseconds to spare. In the closing moments of the math, after the beast from Los Angeles staggered towards the ropes, Smith bolted straight at him and sent the pair tumbling to the outside with a massive clothesline.

As the pair makes their way to their feet they begin to trade heavy shots, going toe to toe with a barrage of punches. The WWE Universe jeers Smith’s shots and supports Masters’ every efforts, quickly watching the fan favourite to take over. After blasting his opponent with a plethora of right hands and a vicious double axe handle, Masters scoops Smith up into his arms and then, with a huge war cry, slams him onto the outside padding. The Canadian screeches in pain and clutches his back, allowing Masters a second of reprieve. With his partner sprawled out on the ground, Tyson Kidd takes the opportunity to leap to the apron and he sizes Chris Masters up, a grin on his mug. However, as the Calgary Kid soars from the ring Masters is able to duck under the attack and seize Kidd under the armpit.

Tyson flails desperately but Masters shows no mercy and he immediately hurls the Canadian into the ring post, creating a huge, harsh collision between steel and flesh. To a shrill cheer, Masters emits a second war cry and after he spins on his heels to face his actual opponent, he forces Smith under the bottom rope. However, as the Masterpiece goes to follow Smith into the ring the Canadian bolts right into him and boots him in the side of the head. After looking over at his downed partner, Smith harshly drags his adversary up to his feet and, with an incredible show of strength, hoists the big man from Los Angeles onto his shoulder. David Hart Smith rushes forward to dump his opponent onto his back with a powerslam but Masters slips out and grabs a hold of the Canadian’s scruff, stopping him dead in his tracks.

The Masterpiece hurls Smith into a nearby corner and as one half of the Hart Dynasty stumbles out, Masters grips him in his massive arms. After crunching Smith onto his knee, Masters then plants the big man with an empathic side walk slam. Both men, a little fatigued now, get to their feet and as they stand face to face, Smith swings a huge clothesline at his opponent. But Masters is able to avoid the blow and the Canadian’s bulk and momentum sends him careening into the ropes. As Smith comes rocketing back, Masters powers him into the air and connects with an amazing spinebuster that rocks the very canvas the two are battling on! Masters pops to his feet and doesn’t waste any time dragging a dazed Smith up with him, motioning for the Masterlock as he does so. DH Smith frantically tries to break free of his opponent’s grip and stamps on Masters’ foot to get some space.

The Canadian follows up with a boot to his opponent’s gut and as Masters reels from the shot, Smith hooks the big man’s arm over his shoulder for a suplex. With an agonised look on his face, Smith wrenches masters up for a vertical suplex but Masters slips out the back, hooks his beefy arms around Smith’s and cranks on the Masterlock! The Canadian writhes and struggles for several moments, trying to use his own power to break free of the Masterpiece’s patented submission hold. Smith inches forward slightly, his eyes on the top rope in front of him but with a pained expression...

SMITH CANNOT TAKE ANYMORE AND SUBMITS TO THE HOLD, MASTERS IS VICTORIOUS!

Winner: Chris Masters by submission (6:31)

The Masterpiece clutches his battered chest and allows the official to raise his hand high towards the heavens. However, as the Los Angeles native tries to navigate his way out of the ring he is blindsided by Tyson Kidd! The Calgary Kidd pounds away with stomps and punches and his partner soon joins in, albeit rather jelly legged. The crowd furiously jeer the Hart Dynasty as they shove the Masterpiece into a corner and crunch him with shots, turning him black and blue. The pair look as though they are far from done but don’t get any more time to hurt Masters as the arena flashes white. As sound and vision return to the Canadians they see a very familiar duo before them; Paul London and Brian Kendrick! The two superheroes stare the Harts down from the apron and before they have time to escape, the duo spring from the top rope and drop the Canadians with synchronised crossbodies. Kidd and Smith scram to the safety of the ramp as Londrick assess the downed Masters, who seems relieved, yet a little freaked out by his rather weird saviours.

We swiftly switch backstage and the crowd instantly groans as Jack Swagger is shown in the shot, standing tall in a trainer’s room. The trainer rolls his eyes as he wraps another line of tape around Swagger’s wrist but the All American American doesn’t even notice it, he’s too busy flapping his mouth.

Jack Swagger: ... you know finally, finally Teddy is doing something for the good of this show and just maybe, heaven forbid; he won’t lose his job in a few weeks time. I’m going to be in the main event of Smackdown, the only place befitting of a main event star. And when I completely dominate Randy Orton in the centre of that ring with my wrestling class, my wrestling pedigree, Teddy Long will have no choice but to get down on his knees and kiss my fe-

Swagger suddenly stops his tirade, much to the relief of the trainer as a small chuckle cuts him off. The All American American pulls aside a medical curtain to reveal the source of the laughter to a massive pop, as Christian sits on a softened bench with a grin on his mug. The Canadian holds a large bag of ice to the small of his back and he tries to avoid Swagger’s eyes, but another chuckle gives the game away.

Jack Swagger: Oh, you think that’s funny do you Christian? My dreams and aspirations are a source of amusement are they? Well you know what’s really funny Christian? That your career is winding down and there isn’t a single proud moment that stands out amongst the mediocrity. What I find amusing is that every time you stood face to face with Edge, you got your ass handed to you.

Christian’s smile evaporates and stares into Swagger’s eyes.

Jack Swagger: And you know what? I’m a former World Heavyweight Champion and once again, on my brand I have the world at my feet. But you, you Christian are a completely different story. You have never been a world champion and you never, ever will be becau-

The crowd roars as Christian lashes out and strikes Swagger down with a fierce right hand, sending him flying to the floor. Captain Charismas storms from the room, his hand still holding an ice pack to his back, and disappears from view to leave the All American moaning on the trainer’s floor.

C'MON, YOU KNOW I GOT 'YA...

*Break The Walls Down*

To a chorus of heavy heat, the new WWE Tag Team Champions arrive in Spokane. Chris Jericho and Curt Hawkins slowly wander down the ramp with their titles draped over their shoulders and identical arrogant smirks on their mugs. While Jericho steps through the ropes in a pristine, custom suit, Hawkins clambers up the steel steps kitted out in his typical jeans, leather jacket and battered Converse combination. The two slowly step into the middle of the ring together and shake hands, as the WWE Universe boos ‘JeriHawk’ with gusto.

Chris Jericho: I’m baaack!

The crowd unloads heat on Jericho as he lowers his microphone and looks out at the crowd.

Chris Jericho: What, no welcoming committee? No confetti? No Y2J chants?

On the contrary, the WWE Universe starts up a heavy ‘You Suck’ chant.

Chris Jericho: For once I do something completely selfless, for once I think of others and I all get is hate? However, hypocrisy is a dirty, dirty disease therefore I truly cannot blame you Spokane for your stupidity. So instead, I’m going to tell you why I came back and I’m going to do it nice and slow.

Hawkins smirks and looks down at his new title belt, the appeal of the gold enough to put a smile on his usually surly face.

Chris Jericho: Eight months ago I left this company. I needed time to refresh, my batteries needed to recharge and most of all, I needed time to think about my future. It was only after I spent considerable time with family and my music that I turned my attention back to wrestling. At first I only glanced at the television but then I found myself, in just a matter of weeks, analysing every little detail. I found myself poring over every minute, every second.

Y2J pushes the microphone to his side, licks his lips and then takes a deep breath.

Chris Jericho: It was then, at Wrestlemania of all places that I finally figured it out; I cracked the code if you will. I realized that a new era is upon the WWE. Now more than ever the young stars of this company need to step up and take charge. Just like in the early eighties when Hulk Hogan not only forced to world to say their prayers and eat their vitamins; he took his place in history. Just like a little over twelve years ago when the WWE was at risk from an outside force, The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin and myself (Jericho smirks as the crowd jeers) proved we deserved to be representing the very best wrestling company in the world. And right now, as the WWE once again faces such a vital section of its illustrious history, these young stars need guidance, they need help. Don’t you see? This is why I’ve come back to Smackdown.

Jericho looks across at his new tag team partner with a grin but that smirk turns very cold as he turns back to the WWE Universe.

Chris Jericho: To help.

The crowd boos Jericho fiercely but the Canadian cuts them off, continuing his tirade.

Chris Jericho: And so I contacted Curt Hawkins, I called him, I texted him, I emailed him. But that wasn’t enough, far from it. I saw an incredible talent that seemingly no one else did and I took him under my wing. Sure I was hard on him but he took it in his stride and each and every week he improved before my very eyes. But even then I was just watching from behind a screen and I knew it wasn’t enough; I knew there was more I could do. Months ago I would have attended Over the Limit for my own selfish purpose, and even as I stood before Curt Hawkins those thoughts still crossed my mind.

Jericho seems to turn towards the titantron for a second but in an instant, his focus is back on the WWE Universe.

Chris Jericho: But this is a new me and I decided to step back into the ring with this young man (Jericho indicates Hawkins), not for my own personal gain but for his benefit and for the company’s benefit. You see, you might not like me but you have to accept that I am the best in the world at what I do and by just being back on this brand, the future of this company is going to be that much brighter.

More boos rain down upon Y2J but he isn’t even looking up, he has his eyes upon the title over his shoulder.

Chris Jericho: After being brought into this company by a decrepit hack like Bret Hart, the championships that Curt and I currently hold are finally going to be recognised. As champions, we intend on not only leading this division but we promise we will dominate this brand for years and years to come. I have always been the best in the world at what I do but today that changes; it changes for good. Because from now, we (Jericho again indicates his partner) are the best in the world at what we do and I’d like to see anybody do a thing about it.

As the crowd jeers a grinning Jericho, the Canadian passes his microphone across to Curt Hawkins. The Long Island Loner adjusts the title on his shoulder and turns towards the ramp, Jericho mirroring his partner’s movement also.

Curt Hawkins: I don’t want to spend a single second of my time interacting with any of sheep backstage but I thought it was only fair that you were given a warning. You get in our way, you try and steam the flow of our revolution, you will be stopped and I damn well guarantee that you will fall.

Hawkins hurls his microphone to the outside and steps closer to his tag team partner, who quickly raises his arm high into the air. However, as the champions turn to exit the ring two figures are already watching them from the stage. The superhero duo of Paul London and Brian Kendrick stand with noble expressions on their faces and quickly motion around their waists, sending a pretty clear message to the WWE Tag Team Champions. After a few more seconds, the crowd pops again as Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov wander out onto the stage and copy Londrick’s movements, doing so as they stare into the eyes of the champions. Finally, a third duo emerges out onto the stage and motion around their waists – that being the team of the Uso twins. Before Smackdown fades away from the ring, Hawkins and Jericho have the final say as raise their gold into the air to the ire of the crowd and the three tag teams on the stage.

As Smackdown returns from a break, we are quickly shown a shot of a cracked, ragged road. The camera catches a couple more seconds of bitumen surrounded by beautiful green hills before it cuts back into the car – revealing Cody Rhodes, his hands tightly gripping the wheel. The young man’s face is still covered by a clear, plastic guard but he makes no attempt to cover it, instead it reflects sunshine as he looks at the camera’s lens. However, Rhode’s usually well manicured mug looks out of sorts as his eyes are heavily bloodshot and ugly scruffs of hair surround his mouth.

Cody Rhodes: Oh Rey Rey I hope you’re proud of yourself. You slipped through my fingers once again on Sunday night, you cowered and squirmed and, with the Intercontinental Championship around your waist you continue to do so. I offered to meet you in the ring one final time Friday night on Smackdown Rey but you blatantly refused, preferring to continue to hide behind media men and Teddy Long’s legalisation.

Cody licks his eyes and again glances at the camera.

Cody Rhodes: And the worst part is that I thought I had it all planned out. Until last week, each piece of the puzzle was falling into place. My father, the American Dream used his influence to whisper into the ears of anybody who would listen. He was the one who suggested a tournament be held to crown a new Intercontinental Championship after the title was vacated. And, although I could see his snide glances and hear his malicious comments, I knew that my plan was going to work and I would finally earn my vengeance against you, one on one at Over the Limit.

An ugly look passes across Rhode’s face momentarily as he stares back at the camera once again.

Cody Rhodes: But you once again hide behind legal barriers and I didn’t get a straight up match with you Rey. But deep, deep down you must know that I won’t rest, I won’t stop until I have. Since Sunday night I haven’t received a single call from my family and they’ve made it very clear that they do not want to be associated with me even further. No matter how big a hero my great father was, he doesn’t accept losers.

Rhodes shifts in his chair but he keeps his eyes on the road.

Cody Rhodes: But I don’t care what they think anymore, I’m way past that. I don’t need family anymore as my mind is set on vengeance, it is set on greatness. The only thing I want is to beat you Rey. The only thing I want is to hurt you Rey. But not only will I destroy you, and I promise I will do just that, but I’m going to rip the Intercontinental Championship from around your waist. From then, I can begin to forge my own destiny in this industry and prove I’m more than just a name, I’m the future of this company.

The car continues to roll along the highway and Cody takes the time to look again at the camera, his eyes cold and sullen.

Cody Rhodes: I’m not anything like my father, I’m no dream. I’m the nightmare that is never going to fade until I get what I want, and Rey you damn well know what that is! My family may think I’m a failure...

The car momentarily slows down and the camera moves away from Cody for a moment, to reveal a ‘Welcome to San Diego’ sign.

Cody Rhodes: But I wonder how your family feels about you.

Rhodes flashes a smile but the motion is devoid of any emotion, any warmth at all. The camera turns down as the car rolls forward once again before flashing to black.

CHECK, ONE TWO... OH YEAH!

*Get On Your Knees*

With his entrance music pumping behind him, Jack Swagger strolls out onto the stage with a hand to his brazen jaw. The All American American feels out his jaw for a few seconds and then, after once again realizing his position on the show, he cracks a small smile as he steps onto the ramp. After reeling off a trio of push-ups Jack sprints up the steel ring steps, clambers into the ring and sprints in circles around the ring with his arms spread out wide and a smirk on his mug.

I HEAR VOICES IN MY HEAD, THEY COUNSEL ME, THEY UNDERSTAND, THEY TALK TO ME!

*Voices*

To another earth shaking cheer, Randy Orton slips through the curtain and slowly makes his way towards the ring. Orton keeps his grey eyes focused on his opponent in the ring as he stalks down the ramp, the red design on his tights sparkling in the arena lights. After he steps through the ropes, Orton clambers up to the second rope and poses towards the WWE Universe, allowing the crowd a moment to cheer the popular superstar. Randy soon steps down and wanders into the centre of the squared circle, locking eyes with a fiercely determined Jack Swagger once more.

While Jack Swagger may have been ecstatic about being placed in the main event before the contest began, his smile faltered slightly as soon as Randy Orton got his hands on him. The Viper unleashed his rage on Swagger, simply battering the young superstar with fists, boots and vicious stomps. However, the crafty All American American was able to turn the tables by using Orton’s own anger against him. Swagger was able to lure Orton to the outside and drive his leg into the steel steps, enabling the former World Heavyweight Champion to take control of the Viper. From there, Swagger stretched and mangled Orton’s leg for a few minutes and looked set to put his opponent away.

Swagger stands over a downed Orton and viciously stamps on his ankle, causing the Viper to cry out in pain. The All American American shuffles backwards until he stands on the other side of the ring and places both of his hands on the top rope, his eyes surveying an opportunity. With a mad grin Swagger sprints forward, leaps over Orton’s body, grabs a hold of the top rope in front of him and hurls his weight up and onto his opponent. The WWE Universe groan with the impact and Swagger quickly springs up to his feet and assesses the situation in front of him, namely Orton’s battered ankle. The All American American lays his opponent’s leg out flat on the canvas and then thunders back to the other side of the ring, setting up for a second Swagger Bomb.

Swagger pounds his chest and then thunders forward, launching himself into the air once more. But Randy Orton, with a little difficulty, springs to his feet and boots his opponent in the gut in mid-air! The Viper limps slightly but he doesn’t falter as Swagger steps back towards him, crunching him to the ground with a pair of hard lariats. The crowd pushes Randy forward and the popular star is easily able to duck a lazy punch from Jack Swagger, and connect with a scoop slam on the rebound. Finally, Orton has gained the momentum and he roars loudly, firing both himself and the audience right up. Swagger again pounces to his feet and this time the Viper catches his opponent’s arm, clocks him in the gut and then nearly takes his head off with a clothesline. However, the flurry of movement seemingly sends a spiral of pain down Orton’s bruised ankle and he has to lean against the ropes to keep himself upright.

The competing duo face in the centre of the ring once more and Orton simply shoves the tired Swagger into the ropes. As the Oklahoman crashes off the ropes the Viper is just able to life his opponent up and over his shoulder, allowing gravity to send the former world champion crashing to the mat. Orton wrenches his adversary up to his feet by his golden locks and immediately locks him in an inverted headlock in preparation for his patented back breaker. However, Swagger swivels on his ankles and wraps his arms around Orton’s upper body, quickly taking him down with a beautiful belly to belly suplex. Swagger rolls onto a prone Orton and hooks a leg...

2... ORTON SLIPS A SHOULDER UP, KEEPING HIMSELF ALIVE!

Jack can’t believe he didn’t put his opponent away and runs a pair of hands through his blonde hair. However, with one glance at Orton clutching his ankle, Swagger quickly makes his mind up as to what he is about to do next. After pulling down the straps on his singlet, Swagger grabs a hold of his opponent’s ankle and locks in his vicious submission. Orton cries out like a wounded animal and clutches at his face to try and reduce the pain in his leg, but this only causes Swagger to wrench back even harder. However, Orton is swiftly able to roll over onto his stomach and reels off three straight, hard kicks to his opponent’s mush. As Swagger turns back to face his opponent, Orton has someone dragged himself to a stable base and he crunches the All American’s face with a European uppercut.

With his opponent woozy, Orton hurls him through the ropes and then pulls him back to the centre of the ring. The Viper holds Swagger precariously, his leg shaking dangerously before planting his face into the canvas with a massive DDT! As his opponent rolls back into the middle of the squared circle, Orton drops down to the mat and begins to size Swagger up. Randy Orton slides around the canvas like a volatile snake as he waits for the All American American to get to his feet, his mouth set in a snarl. The Viper punches his fists into the mat but out of the corner of his eye, he sees Alberto Del Rio walking down to the ring, his championship hanging over his shoulder. The Mexican Aristocrat waves cheekily at his rival and Orton springs to his feet in order to stare down the World Heavyweight Champion.

Del Rio tells a furious Viper to turn around and as he does so, Swagger stumbles towards him. The young superstar slaps the taste out of his opponent’s mouth but this just enrages Orton further, and he tackles Swagger to the mat. The official tries to pull Randy off of his opponent but the Viper ignores him completely, brushing him off with another snarl. Orton pounds away at Swagger over and over again and the official has no choice but to call for the bell.

Winner: Jack Swagger by disqualification (11:46)

Orton doesn’t stop beating Swagger for a few moments longer and as he does, he gets up to his feet and locks eyes with an ecstatic Alberto Del Rio. The Viper is practically frothing at the mouth as his Mexican rival grins back at him from the ramp. As Del Rio holds his title up in the air and shouts about his greatness, Orton grimaces and then drops an advancing Jack Swagger with an RKO! As if he was hardly disturbed, Randy Orton turns back to face his rival with a snarl, who obnoxiously stares back with his sparkling belt high above his head. Just before the show fades to black an excited Del Rio, standing on the balls of his feet, watches as Orton rubs his eyes with the palms of his hands, the anger on his face slowly transitioning to disappointment.

Jam's Review
This was a really good exchange between Orton and Swagger. There's still some spots where I think Orton sounds a bit awkward like when he said “with all due respect” to Swagger, but I keep forgetting that you've added another dimension to Orton's character which is really good. The opening segment did it's part of having Orton say his plea while elevating a young talent in Swagger against a big star like Orton. Just try picturing the dialogue between these two and it wouldn't have been good but here, it's excellently written.

Interesting first match of the night. Again it's a little like the first segment where a big star in Mysterio goes up against a rookie in Harris. I'm a fan of Harris, his work in FCW has been great with the new character that he has been given. And with the alliance of Tarver and Harris, it adds another team to a pretty strong division already. Seems to be the trend going on in Smackdown, which isn't a bad thing. This is the reason I like Smackdown, because of the wrestling and because most of the new guys debut here.

This Christian/Edge feud is still something that's pretty hot right now so I'm glad it got the time it did. And after the match with Truth, looks like Christian found an ally in the future against Edge. You set up things really nicely as everything happens for a reason, well that's just how I see it.

And another good moment with Bryan and Show? Hmm, I hope you don't make them feud because I really didn't like their feud at all. Maybe Bryan begins to shift into a heel here since he took full advantage of the ref's count.

WHOA! Suspension on Edge? Ha, this'll piss off Edge even more for sure. He'll come back with a vengeance and it'll be even sweeter. It seems as though Edge has the MITB briefcase here. I predict that Randy gets the title back and then with all that carnage, Edge comes sweeping in winning the title. And maybe starting a feud with Orton and Christian. Sounds pretty good if you ask me :D

Yeah, Slabriel is definitely over. Just get rid of Slater and let Gabriel show what he can do on the mic and in matches against some of the bigger stars on SD.

I feel as though you'll be bringing in a big guy, Ryback? Lol. The character seems to be a Hitman-like character which I think would be interesting to see. Pretty good video here, but you still got me guessing.

I like this segment with Teddy Long and Vince. I think this is how they should have portrayed T-Long in real life. He has those face mentalities but when it comes down to business, he's serious and tough, even to the boss. I think you've definitely got all the elements for how Smackdown should have been. More wrestling with some storylines that are controversial while having credible champions and some up-and-coming stars. Also, London and Kendrick, OHHHH YEAAAAH!

Fun little segment here with no interviewer. You play everything well with Christian still being hurt while he still looks strong against Swagger who seems to be your top up-and-coming star. These two had a feud over at ECW and it was pretty good so a feud between them can definitely happen later on in the future.

Now this was the probably the best promo of the night. Jericho sure seems to have some face qualities but he's essentially a heel because of his tag team partner. His reasoning of why he came back was perfect and I think that he'll elevate Hawkins. You really could've chosen someone else that Jericho would have been partners with but I think he matches pretty well with Hawkins. This sets up a lot of things as you can have Hawkins turn on Jericho and have him go over in a feud, and boom, main event status. Good booking here Peep. And I like that ending in the segment where the two other teams make their presence know that they'll be gunning for those tag titles.

Oooooh, very dark promo here by Cody. You're definitely setting him apart from his father with that whole dream and nightmare line. That was fantastic. Cody can only go upwards from here and I like that. Just keep that masked gimmick a bit longer or maybe even have him in the main event in that mask, I'd like to see how someone would book that.

Ha, what an ending. Not sure what happens now that Swagger wins but due to DQ. Orton finally snaps which is what I was finally waiting to see, that's the Viper we all know. I like that last line where you said he slowly transitions back into disappointment since he said he wouldn't lose his cool.

Overall, really good episode of Smackdown here Peep. Everything just has structure and I feel that everything happens for a reason on Smackdown so I'll be looking out for all the small details that happen. BEST SMACKDOWN YET. Good job!

Smackdown Feedback

This is the first time I've read your thread, and I must say I am very impressed. Over the Limit was a brilliant read and this Smackdown is one of the best shows I've seen written on this site.

Orton or Del Rio were always going to open up the show, and I'm happy it was Orton; you still had Del Rio featuring heavily in the show. Orton was well written here, as is everyone else I've seen in this show. Jack Swagger coming and making the interruption gives him a nice little rub. You play off Swagger well as an intellectual it seems, and I find it quite ironic that he says a lot of big words yet has a speech impediment. Not the best mic workers in the world to open the show, but you worked wonders with them here and made them both look competent on the mic. Swagger looks strong coming out of this promo. Great start to the show.

Good to see Harris hanging in there with Mysterio. I'm a big fan of putting the lower talent in with some of the big dogs, because just making them look competitive in a match with someone with the starpower of Rey Mysterio, makes Husky look good. Rey was always going to get the win, and you've added a LOT more fuel to the fire in his feud with Rhodes, but I'll get to that later on. Mysterio is going to beat Harris 99% of the time.

Oh this Heath Slater is brilliant. By himself, he is so easy to hate, but you've taken it to the next level. I can picture that exchange between Slater and Gabriel and it was really good. I was like :banghead: when Gabriel forgave him! :lmao:

Really good match to read between Christian and Truth. Christian getting the win was the right thing to save some face from losing at OTL. The aftermath here was good, and Edge's promo was excellent. I'll jump around to Teddy suspending Edge though. I'm not sure where this leaves Christian, as you did have him slap the taste out of Swagger's mouth, so a match at CP between Christian and Swagger would be nice. But until the interaction between Christian and Swagger, I thought you were going down the road to Christian/Truth at CP; Truth being angry that he got laid out by Edge and blaming it on Christian. You're an accomplished booker so I'm sure that whichever road you take it'll be great to read.

Todd Grisham is my favourite backstage interviewer, he is just so awkward. And :lmao: at Tim. Solid interview from Del Rio, and you mixed the Spanish words in well, made it seem more authentic. The one thing I think was missing from this promo is Del Rio's catchphrase... but you already know that.

The ending to the Daniel Bryan vs Big Show match confused me a little because I wasn't sure why Bryan kept beating Show. I'm guessing he didn't hear the bell though. DB heel turn on the way to a more aggressive Daniel Bryan?

Oh :fu2: Heath Slater. I actually hope that Justin Gabriel kicks his arse when they have a match. A good win for Sheamus though, who I hope will move forwards from this. Slater vs Gabriel could be the feud that elevates them both up the ranks.

Not a clue who that video is about.

Vince! I love the Mr McMahon character, he is just so over the top about everything. Heel Vince aligning with Del Rio is cool to see, gives Alberto that little extra hateability as a megaheel champion. Also, there is plenty of history between Randy Orton and Mr McMahon! Teddy standing up to Vince was beautiful, and Orton vs Del Rio next week should be awesome! Expecting Del Rio to sneak another win though.

GREAT win for Chris Masters, and these two are underrated big men that can go in the ring, so this match was a joy to read. Not sure that giving Smith a loss right after the Dynasty's elevation up the card. Kidd attacking after the match was expected, and the Superheroes saving Masters was nice. Hope he joins them in their Superhero team to be like The Hulk.

This Jericho promo was brilliant. The whole scenario with Jericho back and teaming with Hawkins is brilliant. I hope this angle runs for a long long time. The three teams coming out in the end showed that you've got a decent tag team division to build on; which were excellently displayed at Over the Limit. Hawkins also a great choice for Jericho's partner.

Oh this was godly. For me, this Cody Rhodes promo is the highlight of the show. You've shown that he's not taking care of himself any more. The constant references to his father and how his family hate him just say that it is on the forefront of his mind. Calling his father the dream and himself the nightmare was such a good line. I know that Rey's family were brought into his feud with Eddie and Punk, but I think that they'd have never seen anything like this Cody. Not much that can be done with Rey, so good move going down the family route, because it'll make Cody a surefire heat magnet. I'm assuming that the next video in the series will be next week where we find out what happened. Can't wait.

Great ending, and a great main event. Orton was always going to be furious after OTL and a snobbish Jack Swagger was a great choice to vent his anger out on. The feeling of disappointment isn't really one ever seen by The Viper character for Orton, but at the moment it is all he is feeling as a result of Del Rio's games. I hope these two end up locking up at CP, but if not, a bigger stage like Summerslam on the horizon could be the chance to end this between these two.

Peep, what a show. I now see why everyone says that you are one of the big guns in this section, and this show certainly displays why you are. Great job, and I look forward to reading more!

SXEnightmare's Review:

opening segment was okay nice to see someone different in swagger possibly moving up the card and looks like were gonna get orton vs del rio again.

i liked harris vs rey always was a fan of husky harris him and tarver is an intersting pairing of course rey wins but husky looked impressive here.

christian and truth was okay not a truth fan so i was happy to see him lose and hopefully christian gets his chance at the top soon, cant belive gabriel forgave slater! this is isnt gonna end good for gabriel...

show and bryan ends in double countout didnt really like the ending too much but the match made up for the ending for me atleast. and the post match good god what was up with show just calmy telling bryan the match is over? thats so unlike him even as a face with another face he would knock him out.

oh shit edge is suspended! wow didnt see that coming so much for a new stable unless edge isnt gonna stay gone long.

gabriel vs sheamus was best match so far not at all surprised slater turned on him for good here wondering if its a 1 time match coming between them or a nice fued...both men have talent espically gabriel so hopefully neither one fades into nothingness.

intersting little mystery promo wondering who it could be.

wasnt into masters vs smith at all its just i dont think either one is all that good masters picks up the submission victory which is fine better then the 2 on 1 beatdown i expected this to turn into which it didnt until after the match but london and kendrick make the save looks like we might be getting a non title tag team fued between these 2 teams now theres a fued that sounds good!

er scratch what i said earlier about a non title tag fued for london and kendrick looks like we might be getting a triple threat match next week for the #1 contenders spot? or what im hoping for which is a fatal 4 tag team title match at capitol punishment? either one would be great to read.

oh shit codys going after rey's family? is he gonna sing happy birthday to rey's daughter and make her cry like a certain straightedge star did before? haha in all seriousness this is turning into a very personal fued i like it.

main event time and swagger picks up the victory...via DQ because orton wont stop kicking his ass not sure how i feel about it but hopefully swagger can get some momentum going next week maybe were heading to a triple threat for the belt? might be good.

overall im a fan good show it was much longer then i expected but for how long it took it makes perfect sense looking forward to seeing where you go with a few storylines you started to set up.

Bearded Review

-A long awaited review eh? Sorry about that Peepster, I gave it a quick read through when it was originally posted. However I have some free time, so lets give it a full read now.

-A nice intro with Orton and Swagger. Swagger was great here and I really bought him as a legit threat, well done. You continue to build up this softer Orton. I can't wait for him to snap as the buildup is there for Orton just to go berserk. While I'm not a fan of Randy, the payoff can draw me in. Rey over Husky, had to happen. Can't really say anything other than that. Though I hope to see a nice build of Harris and Tarver. Big fan of both guys.

-Oh man do I love Heath Slater and oh how I'm indifferent to Justin Gabriel. Slater was brilliant here and baiting Gabriel in keeping the team together. I can just see that now. Well done there. And now we see the "debut" of R-Truth. A man who got lost in the shuffle on the Raw roster. Hopefully he can find some luck here. Both men looked strong in the effort and Christian gets the much deserved victory. However the focus here is on Edge. Loved the promo and the attacks with it. R-Truth may not last long here on SD and Edge could be on the fast track to the main event. Well done here.

-Del Rio's promo was solid. Todd Grisham creeping made for a nice moment and Del Rio just can't good old Todd's name down. Del Rio runs down Orton here, I dig. DB and Show was a solid contest. The end though was what put it over. DB seems to have found a mean streak and I hope you continue to run with that.

-The more Edge the happier I am. WHAT! Edge suspended? Can't say I'm happy about that one, but I look forward to seeing where this goes from here. I imagine you are at impasse with Edge and a break could find you something creative to do with him and it helps keep him and Christian going without interaction.

-Sheamus gets the W, obviously. Slater turns on Gabriel. I'm hopeful that Heath doesn't get lost in the shuffle on SD in the long run as the guy is pure entertainment. He is just so easy to hate that you can't help but love him. Another nicely done vignette, can't wait to see who is behind it all.

-Vince McMahon, hot diggity. Teddy Long's job in jeopardy? I sure hope so, I hate him haha. Hopefully this means we see more Vincent Kennedy McMahon. Masters gets a win and it is nice to see him get back on the winning end. DH Smith I don't care for as much as I do Kidd, so it was nice seeing him take the fall. A Londrick/HD feud seems a brewing and Masters possibly caught in the middle? Interesting.

-Another good moment from Swagger. The guy has been the epitome of entertainment for this episode. Shame he is nearly nothing with the WWE at the moment. Jericho and Hawkins make an impact with words and it was well done. I bought into it and Jericho comes off as a prick even when he is "helping". Challengers galore for the new champs, look forward to where things go.

-A well done ad for Capitol Punishment. You really do a fantastic job on those, I commend you. Much better than any ad I could muster up. Wow! That Rhodes vignette was amazing. Favorite part of the show and that right there can catapult Cody into bigger things. I look forward to the end of him and Mysterio and where the youngster heads.

-Main event time and it was a good match up. Swagger gets in some nice offense, but the pay off happens. Orton finally snaps only to realize his mistake. Del Rio is finally in his head and we have some ammo to make this feud something better.

-Overall the show was well done. No real complaints here. Everything flowed nicely and a good amount was accomplished. Capitol Punishment is right around the corner and I look forward to continuing down the road of seemingly successful PPV shows. Keep up the great work partner.

SMACKDOWN FEEDBACK

OK, Peep, here we go with the SMACKDOWN after the Over the Limit PPV. Had to read the preview and my last feedback to give myself a little recap on where we were up to but I'm now ready to write. Looking for this development of new stories - away from WWE real life - to continue and a few personal things to start happening! Maybe it could be tonight for Edge and Christian to end and Rey and Cody to finally meet? Or maybe not? :)

Loved the idea behind the Orton promo to start although I agree with JAM that you've not quite got him 100% right. It takes a little bit of effort on the readers part to hear Orton saying those things and you could try to rectify that, I guess? Some guys we can write well (i.e. Barrett for me, Rhodes for you) and others not so well (HHH for me, maybe Orton for you?) so it's not a big deal. I know you're changing the personality of Orton a little too, which gives you some leeway with his promos (like me with Cena), but I think writers have to accept that people will read them as they are in real life. Initially, was disappointed to see Swagger - I was expecting Edge. It seems you're making a big deal of Swagger and inserting himself into the main event picture like this ended as a good thing. Guys taking pops at Orton over this promise to his family is being written really well, you can feel Orton's pain!

Solid win for Rey-Rey, am waiting for Cody! Husky and Tarver, something to experiment with I assume? Give it a try and if something comes of it, great. I think we have to do that from time to time to fill out the roster and 'create' something interesting for later down the line. Issues existing still with Slabriel - again, I can sense parallels with my BT. You're going to split them because they're clearly heel and face - same as me with Ryder and Hawkins. With plenty of other teams in the early stages of being established, it's a good time to make the break with them, I agree with your decision here.

Christian was always beating Truth who maybe could have used a decent win for his first outing on SMACKDOWN? A small alliance between the pair before Edge's attack, I sensed a lot of little bits and bobs like this - an alliance between Christian and Truth, an alliance with Edge, Swagger and Del Rio later on, I sense you're going to throw in a big tag match somewhere down the line (8/10 man). Del Rio's comments on Orton fitted his persona, was expected, his comment about unhappiness with T-Lo appeared - at first - to be a comment about Swagger, didn't see the later arrival of Vinnie Mac. Good writing there, not throwing up the expected all the time. If I had to criticise one thing about your BT, it would be that you don't do the expected and whilst that is a good thing in terms of an interesting read, sometimes the expected thing is needed. However, with Vince, it was OK to do that!!!

Something is brewing with Show and Bryan, a little out of nowhere but could be interesting if it is character development. For me, Show is a better heel than a face and ditto for Bryan - could one of them be on the turn? Interesting that you seemed to want to emphasise the idea that Bryan might have not heard the bell and that Show had to explain this. Doesn't seem very Daniel Bryan like to me! Edge's suspension again seems to further develop the idea of the alliances - now Edge will be angry with TL as ADR and Swagger already are. I sense Edge's return from this suspension will be to challenge for the title and win it.

No mention of Sheamus and Undertaker tonight? Dislike! Slater's turn on Gabriel was timed badly for me there. It made Sheamus seem a little weak when you need to push him ready for the Taker feud. If Sheamus had beaten Gabriel and then Slater had blindsided him, that'd have been better, IMO. Problems lie ahead for Teddy Long it seems, interesting to see if this is you getting rid of him as GM or whether it is you developing his role a little. McMahon adds another variable to the problems he is having with guys like Swag, Del Rio and Edge, he could be one step from being fired. Orton having a match with Del Rio to earn another title match with Del Rio? Three Orton vs. Del Rio matches in the space of three weeks? Could be overkill. I'd be tempted to add in a different match type or stipulation - assuming Orton wins - for the PPV contest.

Chris Masters - what's happening with him, Peep? You were big on him early on in the BT, his hot streak of wins is continuing but it doesn't seem so hot all of a sudden. He's involved in the feuds of the Tag Teams here rather than in a bigger feud that'll help him move up the ladder a bit. Not sure what the plan is with him, might want to get that clear. I like the focus of Jericho on the Tag Teams and how he claims to be here to help the WWE. Seems a very 'Jericho like' thing to do. You're clearly trying to push the TT division but it seems to me to be lacking still - Usos, Koztino and Londrick don't really scream out to me as being a must-watch. Hopefully, Jericho can weave some magic in the division. You need more Hart Dynasty, damnit!

Absolutely brilliant Cody Rhodes promo video and a real dramatic twist at the end. He's in San Diego! I can't wait for SMACKDOWN next week to see what has gone down, surely this is it now, Rhodes and Mysterio, ONE on ONE at the PPV?!!

Orton and Swagger's main event was good, enjoyed the fact that Swagger more than held his own. The story he has with Long right now could be used to elevate Swagger back into the main event permanently, he just needs something to take him there and you're doing it. The DQ win was a good call, Orton's snap after the sight of Del Rio was needed. Now, we have an Orton who has broken his promise - that's a real issue to him, I can already tell that from the last line of the show.

Overall, it was another great TV show, Peep. You just keep on delivering and delivering well. Nobody is ever going to agree with every booking decision but yours make sense. The only thing I have issue with is the number of swerves you throw in (it's like you'd be insulted if we worked out what was coming next) but that's a tiny thing. Well done, mate!

Match #1
Singles Match
JTG vs. Michael Tarver w/ Husky Harris

A rather quick affair was contested between JTG and Michael Tarver as they went one on one in the centre of the ring on Superstars. With his acquaintance Husky Harris watching from the outside, Tarver seemed to have evolved his in ring style from the last time we saw him in Nexus as he incorporated a flurry of grapples rather than just his usual, hasty strikes. JTG attempted to make the most of his opportunities but Tarver was just too much, especially as the contest wound down to its conclusion. After a timely distraction from Harris, Tarver clattered his opponent into the turnbuckles with a vicious suplex and then finished the gangster off with his patented powerslam – Tarver’s Lightning.

Winner: Michael Tarver by pinfall (5:32)

***

We open up to a small, dingy and cluttered room where Paul London and Brian Kendrick are standing, their eyes focused on the wall, which is covered in hundreds of photos, maps and sketches, behind them. After reaching up, pulling down and then ripping a black and white photo of what appears to be Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater, Kendrick puts up a new glossy shot – that of Curt Hawkins and Chris Jericho, the tag team straps around their waists. After putting a great big circle around the pair in the photo with a bright, glistening red marker pen, the superheroes turn and face the camera.

Brian Kendrick: As old enemies fade, new threats emerge into the light.

The pair don’t appear to be particularly happy as they glance at one another; their dodgy elimination at Over the Limit obviously still on their minds.

Brian Kendrick: Adversity comes in many forms and heroes are always going to encounter new villains. One can not merely cut the head off the enemy in an instant, you have to slowly move up the body and take down each thorn as you go.

Kendrick slips his hands into the pockets of his hoodie and glances to his side, allowing London to take over.

Paul London: Before we can take this brand by the throat, by becoming champions, there is still a dangerous adversary in our way.

As if he has a bad taste in his mouth London looks directly into the camera.

Paul London: The Hart Dynasty. They claim to represent the honour and the class of the Hart Dungeon, of the Hart family. But they are anything but that, they cheat, they take short cuts and they do whatever they can to get the job done.

London now glances away, a hand quickly running through his hair.

Brian Kendrick: But it’s our job to clean up Smackdown and we’ll get dirty too if that’s what it takes.

The superheroes glance again at each other as the camera turns to static and a logo, with the silhouettes of both superstars flashes up onto the screen.

Friday Night Smackdown! Preview
Des Moines, Iowa, 10th June, 2011

‘Is Blood Truly Thicker Than Water?’

In just over a week the WWE will host the first ever Capitol Punishment event but before we get to pay per view, Smackdown rolls into Des Moines, Iowa for another exhilarating episode. Following the chaos and excitement of RAW, the superstars of the blue brand are looking to impress as the road to Washington continues to shrink rather swiftly.

In the main event of what is shaping up to be another thrilling show, Randy Orton faces World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio and if the Viper is victorious, he will earn a second title match at Capitol Punishment. However, Orton’s current mindset is hardly setting himself up for victory. Alongside his personal ring announcer, Alberto Del Rio has done everything in his power over the past month to enrage his number one contender. Much to Del Rio’s delight, the tactic proved especially effective last week as the mere sight of the Mexican made the Viper snap and he proceeded to beat the holy hell out of Jack Swagger, causing Orton to be disqualified.

If Orton is disqualified once more, he may dish out some much needed punishment to his smarmy adversary but it won’t garner him a chance to hold the World Heavyweight Championship once more, or please his young family. As well as promising to present ‘something special’ to his rival, Del Rio has the chance, to prove once and for all, that the Viper ‘isn’t on his level’ when they meet in the centre of the squared circle. Can Orton contain his rage long enough to defeat the Mexican Aristocrat and punch his ticket to Capitol Punishment? What does Del Rio have in store in his ever growing bag of tricks?

In an eerie address based in the home town of his long time adversary, Cody Rhodes issued a cold but very clear request to Rey Mysterio. If Rhodes isn’t given a one on one match against the luchador for the Intercontinental Championship in two weeks times, the American Nightmare promises to track down Rey’s family and inform them on Mysterio’s ‘deep, dark secrets’. In the past, Mysterio has adamantly refused to accept a Wrestlemania rematch against his disfigured rival but will his hand finally be forced in the face of this chilling ultimatum? While Cody continues to remain absent from Smackdown, Mysterio will be in action against the red hot Curt Hawkins on Friday night. Will Rey have an answer for Rhodes? And how far is the American Nightmare willing to go to get one?

In a shocking turn of events, Smackdown General Manager Theodore Long suspended Edge indefinitely last week after he performed another violent attack against Christian and the newly drafted R-Truth. Following the show, Truth was diagnosed with a concussion and the rapping superstar will have to miss a number of weeks of action due to the injury. He has yet to be heard from since. After a second, brutal attack in just under a week, Teddy finally put his foot down and ordered the Rated R Superstar home for an undisclosed amount of time. This move didn’t fail to upset Jack Swagger, as he has debated every call made by his employer for a number of months now but it also proved to tick off another key figure in the WWE – Mr. McMahon. The boss voiced his displeasure at Long’s performance on Smackdown and ordered him to pick up his game, or else.

However, Swagger could hardly celebrate the idea of Teddy Long being canned as he was not only battered by Randy Orton; he was popped in the mouth before he could even get in the ring by Christian. Captain Charisma and the All American American share a storied history and the rivalry was seemingly renewed once again with a single punch, after Swagger did what he does best – run his big mouth. Although Christian claims that he is ‘far from finished with Edge’, he also stated that he plans on finding out why Swagger is intent on running a crusade against Teddy Long. On Smackdown, Captain Charisma hopes to get all the answers as he hosts the Peep Show with Swagger as his special guest.

The new WWE Tag Team Champions made their presence known on Smackdown last week as the returning Chris Jericho, with Curt Hawkins by his side, spoke his mind for the first time in over six months. Jericho claimed that he is not only back in the company to assist his ultra talented partner; he is back for the benefit of the new generation of superstars in the WWE. Both men also spoke brashly about their supposed future dominance of the tag team division, but they were quickly shut up as three of Smackdown’s top teams emerged out onto the stage to challenge that claim. However, only one team will go on to Capitol Punishment to face the new champions and Teddy Long has determined that it will be either the Usos or the Hart Dynasty. The final two teams eliminated in Over the Limit’s tag team turmoil will battle to determine who will challenge the brand, spanking new WWE Tag Team Champions in just under two weeks time.

Plus, it appears that long time tag team partners Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel have finally gone their separate ways. Gabriel looked set to capture a massive victory over Sheamus, until Slater stepped in. The One Man Rock Band, after offering yet another soppy apology earlier in the night, drove the dagger into his partner’s side before leaving him at the mercy of the bloodthirsty Irishman. A distraught Justin Gabriel has reportedly returned home to his native South Africa to recover from the betrayal. Meanwhile, Slater has promised that his career starts from here on out.

Plus, Sheamus, Chris Masters, Daniel Bryan and the Big Show are set to appear as Smackdown rolls into Des Moines!

Friday Night Smackdown!
Des Moines, Iowa, June 10 2011

‘Is Blood Truly Thicker Than Water?’

Before Smackdown can even get underway, before the announcers can speak or the introductory video can play, Alberto Del Rio springs onto the screen. Dressed in a classy navy suit complete with a sparkling, white scarf around his next, the World Heavyweight Champion receives a round of heavy heat as he cracks a smile. Standing in what appears to be a spacious and luxurious room akin to a VIP box, Del Rio looks especially proud of himself.

Alberto Del Rio: Good evening ladies and gentleman, my name is Alberto Del Rio and I am ‘jure World Heavyweight Campeón...

With his pearly whites sparkling, Del Rio continues to stare directly into the camera.

Alberto Del Rio: But, of course, ‘ju already knew that. And as ‘jure Campeón I felt it was my duty to keep ju’, my subjects, informed. Informed on everything that goes on this brand, no matter how small it may be. Des Moines is a city entrenched in the history of this great country...

The thousands of fans in attendance pop loudly for their home town.

Alberto Del Rio: ... for being one of the most vile, most disgusting settlements in the entire United States of America.

The Mexican chuckles as the WWE Universe voice their disapproval.

Alberto Del Rio: This city is despised by every other. It is looked down upon by every corner of this country. It is not known for creating champions, no, no it is quite the opposite. It has a history of producing racistas and drunks; producing nothing more than stains on the timeline of America. And just like Des Moines, my opponent for tonight also has a very dark, dirty history – Randy Orton.

Del Rio looks a little annoyed as the crowd drowns him out with cheers.

Alberto Del Rio: So I thought it was only fair that ‘ju, the WWE Universe, knew exactly what kind of man Randy Orton is. And that is exactly what I am going to do tonight. I am going to give each and every one of ‘ju watching a history lesson and a history lesson that ‘ju will never forget – the History of a Viper.

Just as the screen fades to black Del Rio winks cheekily and smiles broadly, his eyes alight with excitement.

After Smackdown’s introductory video is played, we shoot straight to the arena where a plethora of fireworks are set off to a massive ovation. With Green Day rocking out of the speakers, the camera scans around the crowd in search of the most creative signs and the most rowdy fans. However, we soon settle on the announce desk where Matt Striker, Booker T and Josh Matthews are waiting, practically shaking with excitement.

Josh Matthews: Once again, I welcome you ladies and gentlemen to the most exciting two hour phenomenon on Friday nights. In just a couple of weeks the WWE returns to pay-per-view but before we get to Capitol Punishment, we have another exhilarating episode of Smackdown to bring to you. Joining me as always on the announce desk on the road to Washington, D.C. is everybody’s favourite wrestling brain Matt Striker and the six time world champion Booker T.

Booker T: I’m telling you right now Josh, I for one cannot wait for ‘da action to begin. Teddy Long has set up some exciting matches for ‘dis evening and ‘dey will surely have a huge effect on ‘da shape of ‘da first ever Capitol Punishment event. And speaking of Capitol Punishment, as we saw just moments ago, ‘dat boy Alberto Del Rio can talk all he wants but by the end of the night, he is going to have to face Randy Orton in ‘da middle of ‘dat ring.

Matt Striker: You’re right Book, Del Rio is playing a very dangerous game but by the end of the night it could prove to be genius. If Orton gets disqualified, he may be able to vent his anger but he isn’t going to get another title shot against the Mexican Aristocrat.

Josh Matthews: Tonight, we will also hear Rey Mysterio’s response to the ultimatum delivered last week by the sick and twisted Cody Rhodes. In my time here in the WWE I have never seen Rey Mysterio so conflicted and so void of energy and excitement backstage. It is not a pretty sight.

Booker T: With such an exciting episode last week and another incredible show planned for tonight, how could Mr McMahon possibly feel Teddy Long is doing a less than admirable job?

IT’S A SHAME THAT THEY LOST THEIR HEAD, A CARELESS MAN COULD WIND UP DEAD!

*Written In My Face*

It seems as though Smackdown is starting off with in ring action as the ring bell rings heavily as Sheamus steps through the curtain. The Irishman receives a loud round of heat as he pounds his chest over and over, his eyes fiery and his face completely determined. As he clambers up the steel steps Sheamus pulls off his bright green t-shirt and rips the Celtic necklace from around his neck, before kissing it as he holds it in his palm. To raise the ire of the WWE Universe once more, the Irish juggernaut holds one palm high above his head, again imitating the legendary Undertaker.

*The Rage*

To a nice chorus of cheers, Daniel Bryan steps out onto the stage and holds his arms over his head, his index fingers pointing towards the heavens. With a small grin and a glimmer of confidence, Bryan side steps his way towards the ring and leaps onto the apron. As soon as he jumps over the top rope his opponent for the night steps right into his face. However, Bryan doesn’t hesitate for a second and he coolly stares Sheamus down until the referee orders the pair into their respective corners.

Match #1
Singles Match
Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan

Bryan and Sheamus kicked Smackdown off with a bang as both men put everything on the line to secure the victory. Neither man was able to gain an advantage over the other for a significant section of the contest, and instead they went back and forth, trading move after move. Nearing the end of the contest, Sheamus peeled his opponent off of the outside padding and hurled him into the ring.

After leaping up onto the apron Sheamus waits patiently for Bryan to get to his feet, his eyes a little glazed over and his mouth wide open with fatigue. As the American Dragon slips up to his feet, Sheamus pounces. The Celtic Warrior bounds over the top rope and launches his weight forward with a shoulder block but Bryan dodges out of the way. As the Irishman falls, Daniel is able to catch his opponent’s arm and as they both fall to the canvas he locks in the LeBelle Lock! However, Sheamus still has plenty of fire left and writhes around on the canvas until he does enough to get to a stable base – Bryan still hanging onto his shoulder. The Celtic Warrior flips his adversary off of his back, causing to crash down onto the canvas. As the American Dragon rushes back, Sheamus scoops him up in one meaty arm in preparation for the Irish Curse.

But with a swift swivel of his hips Bryan floats through the deadly manoeuvre and lands heavily on the other side, a relieved look on his mug. Sheamus tries to grab a hold of Bryan once more but the Dragon is too quick and he responds with a brutal downwards kick to his opponent’s knee. As Sheamus lets out a groan of agony, Daniel latches onto his head and plants him with a DDT to turn the Irishman inside out. With sweat pouring down his face and his ginger hair frazzled, Sheamus claws his way towards the nearest corner and pulls himself up to a rather unsteady base. However, he doesn’t get much of a breather as a very determined Daniel Bryan thunders towards him and batters him into the ‘buckles with a vicious dropkick. And, even before Sheamus can fall flat onto his face, Bryan is already ascending the corner.

To a screeching pop, Bryan immediately launches himself from the top rope and catches his opponent full on in the face with a pair of boots. Sheamus drops like a sack of spuds and Bryan is already on top of him, hooking a single leg...

1...

2... SHEAMUS POWERS OUT WITH A SINGLE ARM SHOOTING INTO THE AIR!

Again, Bryan is a like a ferocious pit bull as he latches around Sheamus’ waist the moment he gets up to a knee. A snarl on his mug, the American Dragon tries with all of his might to suplex his opponent over his head but Sheamus is just too big, too strong and too heavy. With a sharp elbow, Sheamus shrugs his adversary off and as Bryan tries to valiantly rush back into the action; Sheamus clobbers him with a brutal knee lift. Daniel almost collapses to the mat but Sheamus catches him, hauls him up onto his shoulder and crunches him into the canvas with a heavy powerslam. Bryan tries to gain a few moments of reprieve by crawling towards the nearest corner, a hand to his lower back. A grin on his mug, Sheamus senses an opportunity to finish off his opponent but before he turns to follow Bryan into the corner, he draws a finger across his throat.

As the crowd hurls him with abuse for another shot at the Undertaker, Sheamus beats his chest over and over again as he watches his opponent rise to his feet. Finally, with Bryan resting against the corner, Sheamus rushes forward with a screeching war cry. However, the Celtic Warrior’s Brogue Kick hits nothing but ‘buckle and jars his right leg awkwardly. Bryan quickly attempts to capitalise and leaps onto his opponent’s back to lock in a tight dragon sleeper hold. As the crowd roars their approval, Sheamus tries to put a swift end to his opponent’s momentum and yanks Bryan forward over his head. However, Bryan simply adjusts his weight and latches onto the front of Sheamus’ head, using the momentum to absolutely crunch his opponent into the canvas with a DDT. Before the Irish juggernaut can even move an inch, before he can even think, Bryan locks in a guillotine in an attempt to choke the life out of his opponent!

After enduring several moments in the hold, Sheamus shocks the entire WWE Universe by lifting himself up to his feet with Bryan on his back. However, Bryan pulls back even harder on the hold and Sheamus drops forward, his forehead smacking off the mat. The moment the Irishman’s pale face hits the canvas, Bryan adjusts his position, snatches Sheamus’ right arm and yanks back on his nose to slaps on the LeBelle Lock. The gigantic Irishman thrashes around madly trying to get free of his opponent’s patented submission but his energy is slowly depleting each second in the hold doing its damage. Sheamus inches his way closer to the bottom rope with his arm outstretched, his eyes filled with pain and desperation...

AND GRABS THE ROPES, CAUSING THE WWE UNIVERSE TO GROAN AS ONE!

The official practically has to wrench Bryan off of his opponent and now it’s the Dragon’s turn to feel frustrated, knowing how close he came to another huge victory. The referee holds Bryan back before he can rush in at a recovering Sheamus who looks particularly ragged, his face covered in sweat and pain etched across his mug. Finally, as the Irishman stands up with his eyes looking rather desperate, Bryan breaks away from the official and charges forward like a mad man towards a very, very ragged looking Sheamus. However, Sheamus is just able to avoid the contact and he hauls Bryan into the ropes by his crimson tights. As he stumbles, Bryan’s neck catches against the second rope and he flops to the canvas, two hands to his throat. With an almost relieved grin Sheamus immediately mounts his groggy opponent and pounds away with vicious right hands. The official warns the Irishman to back off but, with a shrug, Sheamus continues to mercilessly hammer away at Bryan’s forehead and the referee is forced to call for the bell.

Winner: Daniel Bryan by disqualification (10:07)

His confidence flowing freely once more, Sheamus crunches Bryan’s jaw with a final elbow before dragging him up to his feet. With an emphatic yell the Celtic Warrior drags his opponent up and looks to set him up for the devastating High Cross; that is until a massive figure charges down the ramp – that of the Big Show! Sheamus shoves Bryan aside and turns his attention towards the approaching Big Show. However, Sheamus doesn’t appear to be intimidated, instead he seems to be egging the big man on. Big Show slides into the ring and the two beasts collide in a flurry of fists and boots, with Show getting the advantage by hurling his opponent away with a colossal shove. The Irishman crashes off the ropes and as he comes hurtling back; Show almost breaks him in half with a spear.

With the crowd heavily supporting the giant, Show yanks Sheamus up to his feet by his ginger hair and with his right hand clenched, he looks set to turn his lights out. However, Show’s attention is taken away from Sheamus as a fiery, ragged Daniel Bryan clambers to his feet and charges at the man that, just moments ago beat the hell out of him. The American Dragon leaps forward with a running big boot but his target drops to the mat and instead he collides with Big Show, knocking him silly with his boot. Bryan looks shocked as he stares down at his groggy friend and he takes a few moments to turn to face Sheamus, only to get blasted with a Brogue Kick when he eventually does so. Before Show can regain his bearings, Sheamus slips to the outside and makes his way to the back with a massive grin on his mug. In the middle of the ring, Show slowly gets up to a knee and, while he tries to help Daniel Bryan to get to his feet, he also looks aggravated as a cheerful Sheamus stares back at him.

After returning from the break we quickly shoot backstage where Todd Grisham is standing, looking especially awkward. With a nervous smile on his face, Todd lifts his trusty microphone to his mouth.

Todd Grisham: Ladies and gentleman please welcome my guest at this time, he is the Intercontinental Champion - Rey Mysterio.

The legendary luchador steps into the shot, the gleaming belt on his shoulder clashing with the black mask over his face.

Todd Grisham: Rey, you have yet to officially give an answer to Cody Rhode’s challenge for a one-on-one match for your newly won Intercontinental Championship. Do you have anyt-

Rey quickly cuts Todd off with a flick of his hand, urging the interviewer to push the microphone towards him.

Rey Mysterio: I don’t have an answer Todd and I don’t have a single thing left to say to Cody Rhodes. I didn’t even watch Cody’s address and I don’t ever intend on doing so and you want to know why? Do you? Because Cody and I, the two us are through. We fought at Wrestlemania. We put everything behind us on the grandest stage of them all in front of the entire world. And if that wasn’t enough, we both competed together in the same ring for (Mysterio indicates the belt on his shoulder) this very championship just a couple of weeks ago at Over the Limit.

Mysterio adjusts his mask and the slight glimpse of a smile that was on his face quickly disappears.

Rey Mysterio: Don’t get me wrong, I will put the Intercontinental Championship on the line against any and all challengers. But Cody, Cody is sick in the head and if I grant him one more match, what’s to say that he isn’t going to request another, and then another? I’m not proud of what I did to him earlier this year but it was an accident, nothing more, nothing less. I’m starting my third reign as Intercontinental Champion and I want to represent this prestigious championship better than ever before. That isn’t going to happen if I continue to dwell on the past; if I allow myself to be weighed down with the problems of my past.

A huge mixed reaction can be heard from the fans back in the arena but Rey simply licks his lips and adjusts the title belt on his shoulder.

Rey Mysterio: Right now I’m more focused on my opponent for later tonight – Curt Hawkins. Hawkins is one of the hungriest young stars on this brand and wi-

Todd Grisham: Look Rey, I’m sorry for interrupting but I’m not quite sure you understand what Cody Rhodes was implying in his ultimatum to you last week. Rey, he’s in San Diego and I think, I think he intends to talk to your family.

The crowd are silent as they await Rey’s response and the luchador takes a moment to compose himself, the eyes underneath his mask unreadable.

Rey Mysterio: He, he wou-

The luchador stops momentarily to run a hand over his face.

Rey Mysterio: He wouldn’t dare approach my family.

The Intercontinental Champion defiantly stares forward but he keeps his mouth shut, giving an opportunity for Todd Grisham to step forward once more.

Todd Grisham: Rey if you don’t mind me asking, have you told your family about your ordeal with Cody Rhodes throughout the past few months. Do they know what happened?

Rey goes to open his mouth but instead he turns around and walks away from the interview pit, leaving Todd Grisham in his wake.

*Masterpiece*

The crowd quickly rise to their feet as the slow, deep beat of a very familiar theme song begins to pump around the arena. Before anybody appears on the stage, the song is allowed to rise to its peak and once it does a wall of silver pyro appears to cover the curtain. Eventually Chris Masters, to a hefty pop, emerges through the fireworks and begins to slowly wander down the ramp with a grin on his mug. After clambering up the steel ring steps, Masters stands tall in the centre of the ring with his beefy arms raised above his head, clasped to represent his patented submission.

*And The Horse He Rode In On*

With Michael Tarver lurking closely behind him, Husky Harris slips through the curtain and begins his trek down to the ring. As the rotund superstar stops from inches from the apron and stares down his opponent for the night, Michael Tarver hurriedly begins to bark orders into his ear. After bundling into the ring, Husky runs a pair of hands through his mangled, brown hair and steps right into Masters’ face, a ferocious snarl on his mug.

Match #2
Singles Match
Chris Masters vs. Husky Harris w/Michael Tarver

After a notable showing against the Intercontinental Champion last week, Husky Harris again put everything on the line as he went up against the always impressive Chris Masters. The two powerhouses went back and forth for a large majority of the contest but it Masters’ experience and conditioning that allowed him to take control. With the match winding down, the Los Angeles native dumped his opponent on his arse with a sharp clothesline and Harris was forced to seek reprieve in the nearest corner, his face etched in pain.

As Husky drags himself up, Masters immediately thunders towards him and batters him into the ‘buckles with a clothesline. As the rotund superstar stumbles out of the corner Masters scoops him up in his arms and drops him over his knee, battering Husky’s back in the process. Harris cries out in pain as Masters powers him back up and, with a shrill grunt the Los Angeles native drives him straight back into the canvas with a side walk slam. The duo meet once more in the centre of the ring and Husky is the first to react, lashing out with a sharp right hand to the jaw of his opponent. Masters reels back and, receiving another two licks to the mush, he is whipped into the ropes by a snarling Husky. However, as the beast from Los Angeles rebounds off the ropes, he hurls his weight forward to clatter into his adversary with a shoulder block, knocking him to the mat.

With a glimmer of a grin on his face Masters drags his opponent up to his feet by his wiry, brown hair and launches him into the ropes. After the chunky competitor slams off the ropes, Masters scoops him up into his arms and powers him into the mat with ease. As Masters claps his two beefy hands together, the crowd comes alive as they, alongside the popular powerhouse, urge Husky Harris up to a stable base. As Husky staggers to his feet, Chris tries to lock his arms around the shoulders of his opponent but Husky just slips forward, flipping Masters over his back. The duo meet once more in the centre of the squared circle and Masters, with an amazing show of strength lifts his opponent up high over his head with a military press. The Masterpiece roars loudly as he attempts to hold the weight of his opponent, but it is to no avail as Husky falls out the back with a heavy thud.

Before Masters can regain his bearings, Husky is all over him like a rabid dog. The former member of the Nexus drives his boot into the back of his opponent’s knee and, after hitting the ropes with vicious force, he sends his knee colliding into the side of Masters’ face. As the Masterpiece falters, Husky immediately crouches over him and unloads a flurry of hard right hands to the skull of his adversary. Just seconds after a huge grin begins to appear on Husky’s face, Masters is able to shove his opponent away to send him sprawling to the other side of the ring. The Masterpiece thunders towards Harris but the rotund superstar stops him in his tracks, hauls him up and plants him into the canvas with an amazing Uranage. With Michael Tarver jumping with joy on the outside, his accomplice hooks the leg of his opponent...

1...

2... MASTERS KICKS OUT WITH MILLISECONDS TO SPARE AS THE CROWD EXPLODES!

Despite Tarver losing his cool on the outside at the near fall, Harris is surprisingly calm as he gets to his feet, runs two hands through his hair and examines his wounded foe. Husky spins on his heels and turns towards the ropes, using them to propel himself forward. As the young superstar nears his opponent, he launches his weight forward with a senton but as he falls, he hits nothing but a pair of raised knees! Masters slowly attempts to get to his feet as Harris looms just feet away from him, his fists clenched. However, the assault on the rotund superstar’s back by his opponent has taken its toll and as he finally takes the time to throw a pained right hand, Masters intercepts it. The Los Angeles native then wraps his opponent’s other arm and clinches his hands together, finally placing Husky in the Masterlock! The former Nexus member grits his teeth and attempt to shift his weight towards the ropes but with one final, pained yelp...

HUSKY SUBMITS BY FRANTICALLY TAPPING HIS OPPONENTS ARM!

Winner: Chris Masters by submission (7:43)

Masters allows his opponent to slump to the canvas and he immediately charges towards the nearest turnbuckle to soak in the adulation from his fans. After a few moments with his beefy fists raised high over his head in victory, the Masterpiece slips through the ropes and begins to head up the ramp with a massive grin on his mug. As Michael Tarver helps his accomplice to his feet and whispers words of encouragement in his ear, Chris Masters bellows once more to the WWE Universe to a hearty pop.

*Commercial*

The crowd instantly liven up after the break as the sight of a smug Alberto Del Rio sends them into raptures. With a glass of brandy in his hand, the Mexican wears a greasy grin as he looks into the camera.

Alberto Del Rio: Welcome back to Smackdown los campesinos and welcome to ‘jure very first history lesson, presented by ‘jures truly, ‘jure World Heavyweight Campeón Alberto Del Rio.

As the crowd jeers, the Mexican takes a sip of his drink and smacks his lips together obnoxiously before speaking once more. As the champion starts to speak, a set of clips highlighting his rival begins to play.

Alberto Del Rio: In April of 2002, Randy Orton made his debut here in the WWE.

A fresh faced Randy Orton shakes hands with Mr McMahon in the bosses’ office, a huge smile spread across his face.

Alberto Del Rio: With his father’s legacy pushing him forward and all of the supposed talent in the world, young Randy had the world at his feet.

In his debut match, Orton dropkicks Hardcore Holly, batters him with a crossbody and then finishes him off with a dazzling Oklahoma roll.

Alberto Del Rio: It wasn’t long before the world started to take notice and in just a matter of months he aligned himself with two of the very best.

With a full head of hair and Ric Flair by his side, Orton stares into the eyes of his mentor Triple H, the World Heavyweight Championship cradled under the Game’s arm. After Triple H is shown holding Orton’s arm high into the air for the crowd to see, Del Rio suddenly shoots back into view.

Alberto Del Rio: But while Orton was lighting the company on fire, I’m sure many of ‘ju do not know why ‘jure hero Randy Orton decided to join the WWE in the first place. It was after he abandoned the military, after he abandoned his country that Randy sought protection under the McMahon wing just as his father had done before him. But unlike his son, Cowboy Bob Orton never broke the law of the United States of America, he never ditched his comrades, he never went AWOL. That snake, that gusano only came to the WWE because he had no other choice – who else was going to take in not only a coward, but a common criminal, a desperado?

As the crowd lashes him with hate, Del Rio smirks cheekily.

Alberto Del Rio: The more ‘ju know.

With another sip of his brandy Alberto winks into the camera as the screen fades to black.

We quickly switch over to a locker room where Big Show and Daniel Bryan are sitting across from each other on opposite benches. The duo receive a nice pop from the crowd but neither of the two seems very happy, with both holding a hand to their weary heads. The two friends look annoyed at the other but with a chuckle, Show breaks the tension.

Big Show: Well, we made a bit of a hash of that didn’t we?

The scowl quickly disappears from Bryan’s face and he looks up and grins at his gigantic buddy.

Daniel Bryan: That’s one way you could put it. Maybe you were just jealous I had you beat last week before the referee stepped in, so you made sure I got booted in the head?

The American Dragon grins cheekily up at Show and the big man responds with equal seriousness.

Big Show: Is that so? Well how about you put your money where your big mouth is, tough guy? How about we have a rematch next week on Smackdown?

After rubbing his chin in mock thought, Bryan holds out his hand.

Daniel Bryan: It's on.

Show accepts his friend’s handshake and then pulls him in further, embracing the former United States Champion in a giant hug.

*So Close Now*

Sporting a brand, spanking new theme song, the crowd gives the Usos a huge ovation as they step out onto the stage. Full of energy as always, the Samoan twins bound down the ramp and slide into the ring, sticking out their tongues and shrieking wildly as they go. While they stand in the centre of the ring, the Uso brothers continue to hype up the live crowd until their opponent’s entrance music hits.

*New Foundation*

To a chorus of heat, the ever unpopular Hart Dynasty step through the curtain, looking as smug as ever. Kitted out in identical pink tights, the Canadian duo slowly stroll down the ramp and make their way into the squared circle - Kidd leaping over the top rope as his partner clambers up the steel ring steps. After they pose arrogantly, side by side, they take their place in their corner for the match; turning their noses up as they lock eyes with the Usos.

Match #3
Number One Contender’s Tag Team Match
The Usos vs. The Hart Dynasty

Rekindling their championship calibre feud from last year, the two tag teams competed fiercely to earn a title shot. The Usos started off brilliantly, jinxing their opponents with a combination of energy and brutal offence. However, as the battle spilled to the outside Kidd and Smith were able to take advantage of a vulnerable Jey Uso by shoving him into the ring steps, clattering his shoulder off the steel. From that moment on, the Canadians where able to isolate the Samoan superstar and keep him grounded by utilising sound tag team techniques. However, as the match began to wind down, Jey hauled David Hart Smith from the apron, dodged an onrushing Tyson Kidd and made an empathic tag to his twin brother.

To a massive, somewhat relieved pop, Jimmy Uso charges into the fray by going straight after Tyson Kidd. The Calgary Kid is taken down with a pair of clotheslines and as he stumbles to his feet, his opponent clocks him in the kisser with a vicious head butt. With a shrieking cry, Jimmy attempts to whip his opponent into the ropes opposite but the crafty Canadian drops his weight and sends his opponent across the ring instead. However, the very fresh Jimmy rebounds off the ropes and practically runs over Kidd with a spinning forearm. The young Canadian falls into the turnbuckles and Jey quickly thunders towards him, crunching him into the ‘buckles with a body splash. Tyson drops down onto his behind and he can only watch groggily as his opponent sprints to the opposite corner and lines him up, a huge toothy grin on his mug.

As the crowd cheers him on, Jimmy charges forward like a bull but his backside doesn’t connect with Kidd’s head as the Canadian dodges out of the way. Jimmy staggers out of the corner and Kidd immediately cracks him in the gut with a spinning heel kick, doubling the Samoan over. However, as Tyson attempts to follow up with a low dropkick to the side of his opponent’s head, Jimmy avoids the contact. The Canadian quickly spring up to his feet and swings a wild right but again Jimmy dodges the attack, slips behind his opponent, locks his arms up in a full nelson and then batters him into the canvas with an Uso Bomb! Jimmy crawls over his opponent and pushes his shoulders to the mat...

3... NO! DAVID HART SMITH BREAKS UP THE PINFALL!

The crowd unload jeers on the giant Canadian as he attempts to lumber away from the scene of the crime. But just as he reaches the ropes, Jey Uso sluggishly enters the ring and rushes towards a retreating Smith. However, it is to no avail as Smith simply steps to his side and launches Jey from the ring by his scruff. The referee thunders forward, a hand pointing at his chest in an attempt to evict the son of Davey Boy from the ring. However, in the time he has taken to usher the big man onto the apron, Tyson Kidd slipped underneath a sloppy clothesline from Jimmy and just punted him in the family jewels! Now, with a tag from his partner, Smith slips through the ropes and immediately scoops a wounded Jimmy Uso in his grasp. With a smug grin, Smith hauls the Samoan up onto his shoulder and glances back at his partner.

Tyson quickly takes the hint and moves to the centre of the apron, both of his hands tightly gripping the top rope. However, as he goes to spring forward into the ring a pair of hands appear from under the ring and pin his feet down to the apron! Kidd struggles to break free from the grip of his mysterious adversary and the moment that the hands disappear, Jey pulls him down to the outside. As Smith watches, a groggy Jimmy in his grasp, his tag team partner is driven harshly into the steel steps by an angry Jey Uso. With his partner incapacitated, Smith instead hauls Jimmy up onto his shoulder, looking set to replace a potential Hart Attack with his signature powerslam. However, as he turns on his heels to drive his opponent into the mat, Jimmy struggles for all he is worth and the big man stumbles!

Jimmy Uso continues to wiggle his torso and, with one last emphatic twist, the Samoan slips over his opponent’s back and absolutely plant his opponent with a DDT, turning Smith inside out! Smith staggers up to his feet but he is immediately clocked in the mouth with a sharp super kick from Jimmy, sending the capacity crowd into raptures. With the low blow earlier still bothering him, Jimmy tags in his twin brother who doesn’t even enter the ring, he quickly ascends the turnbuckle instead. Both Usos shriek crazily as Jey remains perched on the turnbuckle and then, to a massive pop, he launches himself into the ring with a splash down onto David Hart Smith. Jey sits on his opponent’s chest and hooks both of his legs...

3!!! THE USOS ARE GOING TO CAPITOL PUNISHMENT!

Winners: The Usos by pinfall (9:52)

The ragged Usos meet in the centre of the ring and, after allowing the official to raise their hands in victory, they embrace in a sweaty, tired hug. The twins take a moment to compose themselves before they each stand on a turnbuckle each and soak in the adulation of the WWE Universe. The twins quickly drop to the canvas and they watch as the Hart Dynasty retreat up the ramp, looking wildly around them for the person who cost them the contest. Before we fade to another commercial break, the Usos, side by side, stare straight into the camera and motion around their waists, sending a clear message to the WWE Tag Team Champions.

A rather shaky camera focuses on a dingy, black car as it squeezes itself between a pair of pristine family vehicles. The driver finally emerges from the car and reveals himself to be none other than Cody Rhodes. Covering his ugly grimace, the young star’s plastic face guard harshly reflects the rays of what must be the San Diego sun. As Cody steps onto the sidewalk, the cameraman rushes towards him and gets a closer look at the American Nightmare. However, it isn’t a pretty sight as clumps of ugly facial hair cover his cheeks, large, dark bags hang under his eyes and small, red zits line across his chin.

Cody Rhodes: I can promise you this Rey; if you refuse to take me seriously you’re going to regret it. I’m not bluffing and I implore you to think about someone else other than yourself for once. Because what I plan to do isn’t just going to stay with me for the rest of my life, it’s going to stay with you to.

Despite the sun beating down on top of him, Cody shivers slightly and plants two hands firmly into the front pockets of his hoodie.

Cody Rhodes: While I’ve been here in San Diego watching and waiting, I know that you haven’t even stepped a foot into this state. You haven’t been home all week Rey and I wonder, I truly wonder why that is? Is it because you’ve been on the road all week, putting your energy into entertaining your millions and millions of fans?

After a small, cold chuckle Cody continues along the sidewalk.

Cody Rhodes: I highly doubt that Rey Rey, I really do.

The American Nightmare glances up from the pavement to check out each house he passes; beautiful white homes girt by gardens filled with ferns, palm trees and perfectly manicured lawns.

Cody Rhodes: I think you’re just scared. Scared of me and scared of what you’ve done to me.

With another sick grimace Rhodes stares into the camera besides him.

Cody Rhodes: You’re not even willing to protect your family but then again it isn’t about protecting them is it? It’s all about you Rey, it’s about protecting yourself from your family. Shielding from them the truth, from what a demon you truly are deep down inside. Underneath your facade and underneath that mask you’re a snivelling little cockroach and you won’t be able to live with yourself if your family knows it too. But that doesn’t have to happen Rey, it really doesn’t have to. All you need to do is accept a match, one on one for the Intercontinental Championship at Capitol Punishment and they never know I existed, they never find out what you did to me.

Rhodes licks his lips and glances at the watch around his wrist.

Cody Rhodes: Please Rey, please take my offer seriously because if I find myself without a match against you at Capitol Punishment, I’m not going to be happy man and I guarantee you won’t be either.

Again, Cody looks around at the gorgeous homes as he continues to trudge along the path and his cold eyes seem to survey every detail.

Cody Rhodes: These houses all look the same. They may be beautiful on the outside but who knows what they contain on the inside, what secrets they may hide. Do they hide vicious, vindictive and cruel secrets like you Rey? I honestly don’t know but what I do know is that one of them hides your family Rey. Which one is it? Your time is ticking...

And with that eerie remark Rhodes snickers slightly before continuing on his way. The camera follows the American Nightmare for several moments longer before it falls to the holder’s side and the vision fades to black.

To a small smattering of heat, the Bella Twins are shown backstage bickering amongst each other in a deserted corridor, identical smart phones in the palm of their hands. However, nothing too interesting can be picked until an individual walks into the shot and places his arms around the lovely ladies. Nikki and Brie glance up from their Twitter pages and look into the gleaming eyes of Heath Slater! The crowd absolutely unloads on Heath as he meets the disgusted looks on the Bella’s faces with a massive, smug grin.

Heath Slater: Well, well you know what they say ladies – two is greater than one!

With synchronised sighs, the Bellas shove Slater away and storm off down the corridor. However, before Slater’s huge smile can vanish, he notices the camera in front of him and his eyes light up.

Heath Slater: Ladies, especially you ladies, and gentlemen allow me to introduce to you the new and improved One Man Rock Band – Heath Slater!

The man the crowd loves to hate unloads just that on the Southerner as he continues to grin greasily. And as the camera lingers further on Slater, the crowd takes in some additions to his appearance; namely an outrageous cowboy hat and a rather seedy moustache.

Heath Slater: Growing up in West Virginia, my papa always said I was special. He always said I could be whatever I wanted to be. And now that I’ve gotten that monkey off my back, now that I no longer have to carry that filthy, South African monkey, I can finally, finally start my trek to the very top here on Smackdown. I can be what I want to be!

The One Man Rock Band takes the cowboy hat off his head and runs a hand through his flowing, red hair.

Heath Slater: For an entire year, I had to put up with Justin Gabriel’s showboating, his arrogance and his selfishness. But now I’m free. I’m finally my own man and tonight, you get to see how much of a man I truly am when I don’t have a two hundred pound weight holding me down. But held back no longer, from tonight a new era begins.

In the background, the crowd boos even louder but Slater simply smiles it off.

Heath Slater: I challenged Justin Gabriel to a match later o-

The popular South African receives a shrill pop from the fans and finally Slater loses his cool, an angry look passing across his face.

Heath Slater: But unfortunately since Justin has gone back home to South Africa, his head down and his eyes filled with tears, he won’t be here tonight. But don’t worry WWE Universe because I’m still here – the John Deere stylin’, 4x4 ridin’, neck breakin’, sweet talkin’ One Man Rock Band Heath Slater, baby!

With the crowd booing heavily, Slater tips his hat with a greasy smile and then exits the scene.

BOOYAKA, BOOYAKA...

*Booyaka 619*

Kitted out in a dull, grey attire Rey Mysterio slips through the curtain to a massive pop and he quickly goes through his standard routine. After setting off a pair of pyrotechnic explosions, the legendary luchador begins to quickly walk down the ramp with his championship sitting proudly on his shoulder. Although Rey slaps each hand that is shoved in his face and hugs a couple of chubby kids in the front row, he does it without his usual, trademark spark. As the luchador steps into the ring, he stares forward towards the titantron with a blank expression, his face devoid of a smile.

YEEEEEAH! WE’RE KNOCKING AT THE DOOR...

*In The Middle Of It Now*

A chorus of heavy heat meets the arrival of the WWE Tag Team Champions and it is Curt Hawkins who leads the way, his title belt strapped firmly around his waist. A smug smirk on his mug, Chris Jericho follows his protégé closely down the ramp and, after they pose for a few moments on the apron, they step through the ropes together. As Hawkins sets up in his corner, Chris Jericho approaches his partner’s opponent and mutters a few choice words in his direction.

Match #4
Singles Match (Non-Title)
Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio vs. WWE Tag Team Champion Curt Hawkins w/Chris Jericho

In a stellar champion versus champion match-up, Hawkins and Mysterio went back and forth in an exciting match in which the pace rarely slowed. The pair battled ferociously on every inch of the canvas and neither looked as though they were going to gain the advantage, that is until Chris Jericho stuck his big nose in. One half of the WWE Tag Team Champions did just enough to put Rey Mysterio off of his game for a couple of seconds and Hawkins took full advantage, crunching into the luchador with a vicious clothesline. As the contest wound down to its conclusion, Mysterio was able to break free of his opponent’s grip on his neck, and the match-up by sending him sprawling to the other side of the ring with an arm drag.

As Hawkins staggers back into the centre of the ring, Mysterio immediately bundles into him and unloads a pair of forearms to his face. The luchador attempts to whip his opponent across the ring but the Long Island Loner simply bends his knees, drops his weight and sends Rey into the ropes instead. However, the Intercontinental Champion uses the momentum to leap into the second rope and springboard off of it in order to catch his opponent with a crossbody. To a shrill pop from the WWE Universe, Rey springs straight up to his feet and launches into his opponent once more, wheelbarrowing up his body. Although Hawkins is able to block a bulldog from his adversary, the ever crafty luchador swivels his body in mid air and instead catches one half of the tag team champions with a stunning hurricanrana.

As Chris Jericho urges him to focus, a groggy Hawkins stumbles towards his opponent and swings a lazy right hand at Mysterio. Rey is able to duck under the blow and quickly grabs a hold of his opponent’s ragged, blonde hair. Curt attempts to fight Mysterio off as the luchador drags him towards the nearest corner but it is to no avail as Rey leaps forward, pushes off against the ‘buckles with his feet and then drives Hawkins’ head into the canvas with a tornado DDT. Hawkins flops onto his back and Mysterio quickly covers him...

2... THE LONG ISLAND LONER PUSHES MYSTERIO AWAY, BREAKING THE COUNT!

With Jericho barking instructions, his tag team partner tries to create some space between himself and his opponent but he stumbles to closely to the ropes and Rey charges into him, pushing him onto the second rope. The crowd explodes with cheers as Mysterio, even without his usual showmanship, sprints back towards the other side of the ring to hit the ropes. But, as he rebounds Hawkins is already up to his feet thundering towards the luchador, a fist outstretched. Mysterio rolls under the blow and as Hawkins collides into him, he slides up the loner’s body and attempts to reel off a headscissor takedown. However, Curt Hawkins is able to block the manoeuvre and instead sends the luchador sprawling over his back and into the canvas with the Recluse Abuse. Hawkins rolls Mysterio onto his back and hooks a leg, his eyes defiantly urging the official to make the count...

3... NO! THE LUCHADOR JUST SLIPS HIS SHOULDER UP!

On the outside of the ring Jericho is practically wrenching his hair out but Hawkins shows no such frustration, he simply drags Mysterio up and drives him into the mat with a scoop slam. The Long Island Loner turns his nose up at the jeering crowd before he quickly shuffles towards a corner and ascends it until he lays perched upon the top ‘buckle. After flicking the hair out of his eyes, Hawkins jumps forward into the squared circle with his elbow aimed directly at the heart of his opponent but he only strikes agonising canvas! Curt howls in agony as he clutches his arm and he is practically defenceless as his opponent dropkicks him in the small of the back, causing him to collapse over the second rope once more. As the crowd roars their approval Rey quickly turns on his heels and builds up speed as he crashes against the ropes, his eyes firmly on his prone opponent.

As he quickly reaches his opponent, Rey grabs a hold of the ropes and swings his boots into the mush of Hawkins – connecting with the 619! While Curt collapses to the canvas, Mysterio prepares himself for the finishing touches as he stands anxiously on the canvas with both of his hands clutching the top rope. However, before he can spring into the squared circle Chris Jericho takes a step closer towards the luchador and the two lock eyes. With a devilish smirk, Jericho begins to taunt his former rival and as a camera moves closer, it picks up Y2J saying that: ‘... they ain’t going to love daddy anymore.’ Mysterio doesn’t retort but as he looks back towards the ring the determined eyes under his mask appear to be full of tears. The luchador hauls his weight up to the top rope in order to spring int- BUT HAWKINS ALREADY CHARGES TOWARDS HIM AND KNOCKS HIS FEET OUT FROM UNDER HIM!

The Intercontinental Champion falls head over heels and crashes harshly to the mat. As Rey staggers up to an unstable base, Hawkins slips behind him and rolls him tightly into a cover...

3!!! WITH AN ASSIST FROM HIS TAG TEAM PARTNER, CURT HAWKINS PULLS OFF THE VICTORY!

Winner: Curt Hawkins by pinfall (10:24)

The moment that the official smacks the mat for the third successive time Chris Jericho charges forward, slides into the ring and drags his partner to his feet. After muttering some quick instructions into Hawkins’ ear, Jericho again draws the ire of the entire WWE Universe as he repeatedly stomps away at the very popular Rey Mysterio. Eventually Y2J steps away from the grounded luchador but a grinning Hawkins easily drags Mysterio up to his feet, more punishment seemingly in the future for the Master of the 619. At Jericho’s instruction, Hawkins quickly shoots Rey into the air with a wheelbarrow hold and as the luchador falls towards the floor Jericho absolutely batters him with a Codebreaker. A tirade of heat hits the champions as they snatch their titles from the official and stand together in the centre of the ring, look directly into the nearest camera (akin to the Uso twins) and raise their tag team belts held over their heads.

After sending a very obvious message straight back to their challengers, Hawkins and Jericho hastily make their exit up the ramp. However, before the camera moves away from the ring it focuses on a prone Rey Mysterio. The luchador has his hands held over his face and he appears to be sobbing, the championship belt on his chest moving up and down in time with his ragged breathing.

The crowd explodes with jeers as Alberto Del Rio pops up once more. The World Heavyweight Champion hands off his brandy glass to a nearby waiter and proceeds to wipe his lips with a napkin. However, the large stretch of white fabric is unable to hide the Mexican’s massive, smug grin.

Alberto Del Rio: Thank ‘ju so much los campesinos for joining me for the second instalment of a History of a Viper, or should I say of a gusano.

Del Rio chuckles at his own lame joke before going on.

Alberto Del Rio: Now, where were we?

Again, small clips of Randy Orton begin to play as the Mexican Aristocrat speaks over them.

Alberto Del Rio: In the main event of Summerslam 2004 and at the age of just twenty four, Randy Orton made by history by becoming the youngest man to ever hold the championship that I hold produly over my shoulder at this very moment. But as he stood as campeón of the entire WWE Orton allowed his success to take control of him, he allowed it to go straight to his head. Even as the face of this illustrious, this famoso company Randy acted out, he treated everybody else as if they were beneath him.

With a quick smirk, Del Rio looks lovingly at his championship.

Alberto Del Rio: Of course for tonight I’ve done a little research into the topic at hand, and I have spoken to some of the unfortunate personas who had to associate with Randy Orton during his time as the World Heavyweight Campeón. They told me that he treated the people around him like basura, like trash and at times he could act like an animal, without regard for anybody but himself. They told me that he was vile, repugnante and, at times, barely human.

The crowd jeers intensely as Del Rio chuckles once more, milking his ‘evidence’ for everything it’s worth.

Alberto Del Rio: So it was to nobody’s surprise when Randy was suspended from the WWE the moment he lost his championship. How could ‘ju blame them, when he abused the people around him, as if was too good for them. And when he returned he had to start all over again in the one place a gusano belongs, in the one place he will be at once again later tonight – at the trasero, at the bottom.

With a cold smile, Alberto Del Rio stares at the camera until the screen completely fades to black.

As Smackdown returns from the break, the crowd instantly light up as the brand’s newest superstar R-Truth is shown strolling backstage. As he walks closer towards the camera Truth is happily bopping his shoulders from side to side and moving his head, which is strapped with a giant bandage, back and forth as he whispers a tune to himself. However, before Truth can get much further Todd Grisham steps into his path, his trusty microphone clutched tightly in his palm.

Todd Grisham: Truth, you were violently assaulted last week by a now suspended Edge and, as of this moment you have yet to be cleared by doctors in order to compete again here on Smackdown. How are you feeling right now?

Truth is a little slow to react to the question and once he turns to face Todd Grisham, he does so with a slight twitch.

R-Truth: Huh?

Todd Grisham: Well, why do you think Edge did what he did?

With a slight chuckle, Truth looks at Todd once more.

R-Truth: Who?

Todd Grisham: Edge, the Rated R Superstar, the man who cracked you in the head with a steel chair; the man who gave you a concussion.

R-Truth: Look Todd, I have no idea what you’re talkin’ ‘bout right now and frankly, I’m not going to put with up with your shenanigans anymore because I have business to take care of. I’m here to see my good buddy Theodorus Long as I think there has been a bit of a mistake. I was expecting a text message telling me about having a match tonight, but I didn’t get squat. My phone hasn’t buzzed once all day, hell I can’t even get through to my Aunt Abriella for our weekly chat.

And with that, Truth whips out what appears to be an ancient, chunky calculator and shoves it up to his ear.

R-Truth: Still nothin’. But hey (a gigantic, crazy smile cracks across Truth’s face) speak of ‘da devil.

The camera quickly pans out to reveal a rather haggard looking Teddy Long on the phone himself and Truth races towards him, his jacket flailing wildly behind him.

Theodore Long: Sir, sir I’m sorry but I have to go, I still have a lot to take care of before the night is out.

As Long hangs up on the other end, he locks eyes with a now rather deranged looking R-Truth.

Theodore Long: Truth my man, you’re looking great after last week.

R-Truth: Whatever you say Theodorus but I don’t wanna’ take up much of your precious time, so I’ll get straight to ‘da pointy end of ‘da needle. Who am I facin’ here tonight on Smackdown?

Almost as if he is to stressed to laugh, Long simply takes a deep breath and assesses the unusual specimen before him – obviously a much different man to the one he signed a couple of weeks ago.

Theodore Long: Look Truth, I would love to see you out there doing your thing as soon as possible but I am not legally allowed to put you in a match as of right now. The doctors have recommended at least two weeks of rest without a single hint of physicality and maybe, just maybe, once that time has passed they will give me the all clear to allow you to return to the squared circle. I signed you personally from RAW, I’m a huge fan but I’m afraid you are not allowed to compete here tonight.

Truth rubs his chin manically for a few seconds as he looks towards the sky in thought.

R-Truth: Why?

Teddy adjusts his suit as he frowns in confusion.

Theodore Long: Well you’re hurt; you sustained a concussion last week Truth.

R-Truth: Why? Why is ‘da ocean salty? Why are cats scared of water? Todd?

Truth turns to look over his shoulder where the ever awkward Todd Grisham was standing but the interviewer has scattered, perhaps for the best.

R-Truth: Theodorus, can you tell me why ‘da-

But as the popular superstar turns back to face his general manager he has disappeared as well.

R-Truth: Some people are crazy rude...

As the crowd explodes with laughter Truth skips out of the shot, a huge, crazy and rather excited grin on his mug.

With *Just Close Your Eyes* playing in the background the crowd gives a hearty cheer as Christian sets himself up on a stool in the centre of the ring. With the squared circle dressed up in anticipation for the Peep Show, Christian scans the WWE Universe one more time for his beloved fans before he picks up the microphone beside him. Captain Charisma, kitted out in his ring gear and a singlet, allows the crowd to settle down and then raises the microphone to his lips.

Christian: Thank you for joining me here tonight for another edition of the Peep Show, which comes to you straight from beautiful Des Moines, Iowa.

A big pop sounds out from the audience but a very cheap one at that.

Christian: As you can probably tell I’ve got a bit of a skip in my step, my smile is that much bigger and I haven’t felt this good all year. And in case you’ve been living under a rock for the past week, you would know that’s because Edge has been indefinitely suspended from the WWE.

The WWE Universe absolutely explodes with joy and Christian reflects their happiness with a huge grin.

Christian: Although Edge and I are far from through, allow me get to back to the issue at hand; the man who is my guest on the Peep Show for tonight. He is the man who claims Smackdown is his show. He is the man who has been causing pain, both physically and mentally for the entire WWE Universe and the superstars of Smackdown alike. And he is the man who I personally popped in the mouth just seven days ago. So without ado ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, peeps of all ages please join me in welcoming the All American American – Jack Swagger.

CHECK, ONE TWO... ONE YEAH!

*Get On Your Knees*

To a collective groan from the audience, Jack Swagger strolls through the curtain with his arms raised arrogantly to his sides and a small smirk on his face. In black tracksuit bottoms and a blue Smackdown sweatshirt, Swagger slowly saunters down the ramp with the fans shrieking abuse in his ears and his eyes set on Christian in the middle of the ring. Ever so slowly, the All American American bounds up the steel steps, slips through the ropes and grabs a microphone – his feet planted just feet away from Captain Charisma.

Christian: It’s great that you could join me Jack, how’s the jaw doing by the way?

Surprisingly Swagger doesn’t rise to the bait; he simply smiles to himself as he stares at his boots.

Christian: Now for the past few months you have marauding around this show as if you own the joint and the WWE Universe wants to know, hell I want to know why. Why do you believe that Smackdown is your show, why do you think it even needs your help?

Swagger chuckles to himself once more and he slowly raises a microphone to his mouth as he locks eyes with Christian.

Jack Swagger: I wouldn’t expect you to understand Christian but as these people have been with me on every step of my journey, I’m going to address them for the moment as they will understand every word that comes out of my mouth.

With a conceited smirk Swagger turns away from Christian and instead faces the audience, who proceed to boo him vigorously.

Jack Swagger: You see, just one year ago I stood before each and every one of you as the World Heavyweight Champion. I was on top of this company, on top of the world. I was the face of this brand, Smackdown was my show and you were my people. But admittedly I faltered, I lost my way and once I lost my title I could only watch as, without me at the helm, Smackdown fell and it fell. Teddy Long drove my show further into the ground than it had ever been before. After practically stripping the title from around my waist, Teddy moulded Smackdown in his image once more and it made me sick; he turned the show I ruled so proudly into a joke.

Christian watches Swagger talk with his eyebrows raised but he doesn’t interrupt the arrogant young superstar.

Jack Swagger: But now finally, after months of work, important people are taking notice of my work. I won’t be a victim any longer, no, no, no – I’ll be standing at the very peak of Smackdown once again soon enough.

As another grin cracks across Swagger’s mug, the WWE Universe lashes him with heat.

Christian: Are you done?

The majority of the crowd chuckles as Swagger spins on his heels to face the host of the Peep Show.

Christian: Aside from the fact that I couldn’t really understand half of what you said Mr. Thwagger because of your ridiculous lisp, the other half sounded like complete crap to me.

Again, Swagger doesn’t lose his toothy grin at the insult but he does cut Christian off with a raised arm.

Jack Swagger: I’m really not surprised that you didn’t understand a thing that I said Christian because you can’t relate to a single thing that I said. I’ve already been crowned World Heavyweight Champion and it’s only a matter of time, with the pedigree, the ability and the youth that I possess, before that title belt is around my waist and I stand as the face of Smackdown once again. But what about you Christian, even after fifteen years it hasn’t been your time? Is it ever going to be your time?

The crowd jeers furiously as Swagger turns to Christian and grins stupidly at the Canadian.

Christian: You know what? For a long, long time I probably would thought that it wasn’t ever going to be my time, I truly did. But since I returned back here to Smackdown at the start of the year, I’ve felt better than ever before, in fact I’ve never felt this good. But never, ever would I have thought that I could achieve what I have achieved this year. And after what I have accomplished these past few months, after what I have done over all these fifteen years, I believe that I’m finally ready to take my place at the top. I don’t care who I have to through whether it’s you, Alberto Del Rio or anyone else on the roster, it really doesn’t matter to me.

Captain Charisma nods his head slowly as the crowd explodes with cheers.

Christian: In fact, I’m not going anywhere Jacky boy until that World Heavyweight Championship is around my waist. Whether you like it or not.

Another big pop from the Des Moines audience sounds out as Christian drops his microphone to his side and awaits his rival’s response.

Jack Swagger: Ha, you’re kidding right? I’m pretty sure hell will have frozen over before you (here he goes with his air quotations again) ‘take your place at the top’ of my show. Nothing goes on around here without my approval and I sure as hell don’t approve of anything about you.

Christian: So you would say you’re something of a sheriff around these parts?

Jack Swagger: You’re damn right I’m the sheriff of this town. Hey, that has a nice ring to it, Jack Swagger the Sheriff of Smackdown.

Christian: It would sound even better without you spitting half of it down your lame sweatshirt.

The audience cackles once more as Christian smiles broadly, his charismatic persona well and truly back.

Jack Swagger: Yeah, you can joke all you want Christian and the WWE Universe may love you but at the end of the day, it doesn’t mean a thing. When you take off your boots for the last time the history books aren’t going to say that you were popular with these people; they’re going to say that you were a failure. And in my vision for Smackdown there isn’t any room for failures. I used to just have to stand by and watch as Teddy Long put his faith in superstars like you Christian, like Daniel Bryan and countless others roaming around Smackdown but now, I’m putting my foot down. If I see a blemish on the face of this brand, I eliminate it.

After glancing around at his jeering fans, Christian takes a step forward towards Swagger.

Christian: You want to take me out? I’m right here.

Christian spreads his arms out wide with a slight smirk.

Jack Swagger: Oh no, I’m not like that; I’m not a common street thug. I do my fighting and I solve my problems like a man; in the middle of this ring. And so I can make Smackdown a better place for myself and for these people, I’d like to challenge you to a match. But it isn’t going to be a violent brawl like you’re used to; it’s going to be a straight up wrestling match.

The WWE Universe lights up but Christian, his arms folded, allows Swagger to continue.

Jack Swagger: And what a better place to showcase the abilities and the talents of a true patriot (Swagger swiftly raises a palm to his heart), of both these great United States and Smackdown, than at Capitol Punishment. How about it?

With a steely smirk, Swagger extends his hand out to Captain Charisma.

Christian: You got it!

As the crowd roars their approval Christian strides forward and takes Swagger’s hand in his own, the two superstars engaging in a crunching hand shake.

Jack Swagger: But, remember Christian this isn’t ECW anymore. I’ve matured, I’ve grown up and I’m better than I’ve ever been before. I’m better than you now and it’s only a matter of nine days until I can prove it, when I make you tap out!

The two disjoin and Christian, a smile spread across his face, looks into Swagger’s eyes.

Christian: Just like Daniel Bryan made you tap out, I guess? Talk all you want and I know because I’ve made a career out of it, but don’t let your big mouth get ahead of you. Although becoming World Heavyweight Champion is my biggest priority, planting your stupid face into the canvas with a Killswitch is right up there as well.

As the crowd erupts in chuckles, Swagger rushes forward and launches a punch at his rival but Captain Charisma catches the blow! His face now deadly serious, Christian pulls Swagger in close so they are just inches apart.

Christian: And if you really want to beat me, if you really want to eliminate me, or anyone else from Smackdown you better cut the childish crap right now. Act like a man. Act like the champion you so desperately want to be otherwise no one is ever going to take you seriously as one.

And with that, Christian hauls his weight backwards, charges towards the ropes and hurls his rival from the ring. While the crowd throws their support behind Christian as he stands in the centre of the ring, Jack Swagger holds the back of his head as he slumps against the announce desk.

*Commercial*

As Christian completes some last minute warm ups and dumps his singlet to the outside, a quick shot of Jack Swagger is shown as he sits beside Booker T on commentary. After one final glance at his future opponent Christian turns towards the titantron and waits patiently, his head nodding up and down in anticipation.

I’M JUST ONE MAN...

*One Man Band*

With his obnoxious new theme song pushing him forward, the ever obnoxious Heath Slater slips through the curtain to a round of boos. The One Man Rock Band chirps constantly to the fans in the front row as he strolls down to the ring with a big greasy smile on his mug and his ridiculous cowboy hat perched on the top of his head. As he leaps to the apron Slater finally locks eyes with his opponent for the night and after he smirks at Captain Charisma, he proceeds tosses his hat to the outside. At the request of the official Slater eventually steps through the ropes and, as the WWE Universe lashes him with heat, he runs his hands through his silky, red hair as he stands tall in the centre of the squared circle.

Match #5
Singles Match
Christian vs. Heath Slater

With his rival at the announce desk, Christian went head to head with Heath Slater in a fast paced, back and forth encounter. On his first night as a ‘singles’ competitor, the One Man Rock Band pushed his opponent with his obnoxious offence and confident demeanour. As Slater and Christian competed fiercely for the victory, Jack Swagger continued to run his mouth on commentary. With his trademark, toothy smile back on his face, Swagger talked up his chances of victory at Capitol Punishment as Matt Striker fed him some rather easy questions. After another unsuccessful pinfall attempt Slater booted Captain Charisma in the ribs multiple times and then backed off, his tongue wagging from side to side as he waits for his opponent to get to his feet.

The moment that his former NXT mentor gets up to a stable base, Slater charges towards him and lifts a sharp knee into his side. Christian’s knees buckle and as he stumbles, his opponent takes the time to hit the ropes. The One Man Rock Band throttles back towards Captain Charisma but the popular Canadian dodges the blow, sending Slater sprinting across to the other side of the ring. As the Southerner rebounds off the ropes, Christian staggers forward and charges at his adversary but Slater manages to swivel on his heels and catch him with a flapjack. Captain Charisma’s chest bounces off the canvas and as he staggers up to his feet Slater is all over him, rocking him with a pair of rough right hands. With a shrill cry to the audience, Heath attempts to power Christian across the ring with an Irish whip but the Canadian counters and sends his opponent crashing into the corner opposite.

With a shrill cry to his Peeps Christian thunders forward at Slater but the crafty superstar ducks under the blow, sending his opponent’s chest into the ‘buckles with a crash. As the Canadian staggers towards the centre of the ring, a hand to his heart, Slater ducks behind him and crunches him into the canvas with a stunning, jumping neckbreaker. Slater falls into the cover and hooks both of his opponent’s legs...

1...

2... CHRISTIAN SLIPS A SHOULDER UP!

While the crowd roars their approval of the kick out, Slater’s eyes are wide with frustration as he pulls himself up by the ropes. The One Man Rock Band orders the official back with an arrogant smirk before he grabs Christian by his scruff, hooks his arm over his own shoulder and hoists him up into the air. Slater spins around and around with Christian on his shoulder but before he can power him down with a suplex, the crafty Canadian slips over his adversary’s back. Before Heath can gain his bearings once more Christian charges straight back at him and batters him with not one, but two swift forearm shimmers. As he lines up Slater in his sights, Captain Charisma is easily able to duck a rushed right hand from his opponent and, after ducking behind the redhead, he plants the back of his head into the canvas with an inverted DDT.

After urging the fans to get to their feet with a flick of his palms, Christian heads towards the corner and leaps to the second rope in an instant. After dropping an advancing Heath Slater with a spinning elbow shot Christian again charges to the corner, but this time he slips through the ropes and climbs to the very top rope. As he lays perched over the ring, Christian looks across at Jack Swagger on the announce desk and points a solitary finger towards the former World Heavyweight Champion. However, as Christian stands tall on the top ‘buckle Heath Slater jumps to his feet, thunders forward and knocks the Canadian’s feet out from under him. After watching his opponent smack neck first off the top rope and crash to the mat, Slater quickly scoops him up in his arms and absolutely plants him with the E-Minor! With a smile covering his entire face, Slater places an arm over Christian’s chest...

3... NO! CAPTAIN CHARISMA JUST POPS HIS OUTSIDE FOOT ON THE BOTTOM ROPE!

Heath Slater runs his hands through his hair and almost plucks out a few of the ginger strands as the crowd explodes with joy. The referee is forced to intervene and shove Slater away as he attempt to get his mitts on Christian as the Canadian drags his battered body up from the ground by yanking on the ropes. Finally Slater loses his cool and, after nudging past the official, he sprints at his adversary as he lays with his back again the corner, fatigue in his eyes and sweat covering his face. However, Christian is able to slip out of the way and as Slater’s shoulder rebounds off the cold, cold steel of the ring post and he turns to face the centre of the ring, he is almost broken in half with a spear from the Canadian! Although he winces in pain Christian is able to peel his opponent off the canvas and hook his arms up in his own, in order to plant him straight back down with an emphatic Killswitch. Christian hooks a leg and stares straight into the eyes of a now speechless Jack Swagger on commentary...

3!!! CHRISTIAN PICKS UP THE VICTORY OVER A VERY ARROGANT, YET VERY GAME HEATH SLATER!

Winner: Christian by pinfall (9:31)

The official gingerly lifts Christian to his feet and as he proceeds to lift Captain Charisma’s arm high into the air, he turns the victor to face Jack Swagger. The All American American hurls the headset to his side and gets to his feet in order to stare straight back at his future opponent. Before we fade away from the scene, Christian staggers over to the corner and stands high over his rival, a shadow of a grin passing his face as he scans the crowd for his loyal fans.

A gigantic, beautiful garden comes into view but the camera doesn’t linger on it for long as it zooms towards a small door set into a polished, white building. As we enter the room it is revealed to be the same dusty, weary gym as the previous two vignettes and as always, the hulking mystery man is hauling a huge weight in his hand. With a flourish, the man places the weight to the ground and as he begins speaks in his heavily accented voice, his face remains concealed in shadows while the camera pans around the room.

?: I’m not a bad man, I just know what I want.

The man steps up from the bench and wipes his forehead with a pristine white towel.

?: But even I can’t have everything.

The man slips on a sparkling, golden watch and begins to walk towards the exit.

?: Even I need help sometimes, especially when what I want more than anything is the entire world.

However, as the man reaches the door another figure crashes through the doors and quickly charges towards the centre of the ring. As the figure, his long, ragged hair bustling against his singlet and his face a mystery, reaches the other man, he looks him up and down before grabbing his hand in a firm embrace.

We return once more, with the crowd jeering their little hearts out, to Alberto Del Rio’s personal box above the arena. This time the Mexican Aristocrat is in his classy, golden ring gear but before he turns to face the camera, an assistant waddles up to him and places a scarf around his neck.

Alberto Del Rio: And finally, just moments before I step out into the ring, let me proudly present to ‘ju los campesinos the third and final instalment of a History of a Viper.

The crowd jeers as Del Rio grins and snatches his title belt from Ricardo Rodriguez as he strolls past.

Alberto Del Rio: Despite his tattered past, in 2011 Randy Orton has settled down. He has a gorgeous wife by his side and a bello baby daughter to call his very own, to carry his legacy forward. He is one of the biggest superstars on the planet, alongside that tonto John Cena. Seemingly, he has everything he could ever want.

With a wave of his hand, Del Rio orders his small army of employees out of the room; Rodriguez leaving last of all.

Alberto Del Rio: So, what is so bad about this I hear ‘ju say? He may have been a criminal and a blight on this company before, but now he has everything sorted out. Everything has fallen into place for our little gusanito.

To a small rumbling of heat, Alberto chuckles to himself.

Alberto Del Rio: Well in fact, the worst has yet to come. Because in just a matter of minutes, a matter of moments I show why I am the World Heavyweight Campeón and why he does not deserve a second shot. I show why I am the very best on Smackdown. Tonight, I destroy Randy Orton once again. I put him down for good. I make him wish he never got drafted here in the first place. Randy may have been through a lot in his pathetic, miserable life but it is nothing compared to what I do to him tonight.

With one final smug look at the camera Del Rio turns his back and heads towards the exit, his title belt across his shoulder.

After coming back from the break we return to the sight of Theodore Long sitting at his desk, a frown upon the face of the usually jolly general manager. With a sigh, Teddy shuts his laptop and dumps the buzzing mobile phone into his pocket without answering it before resting his head in his hands. Teddy only looks up once he hears a knock at the door and the always lovely Rosa Mendes, having recently been fired from RAW, steps into his office.

Theodore Long: What can I do for you Rosa?

Perhaps a little nervous, Rosa bites her lip.

Rosa Mendes: I’m sorry to interrupt Teddy but have you heard anything about what I asked you last week?

With another heavy sigh, Teddy looks Rosa straight in the eyes.

Theodore Long: I’m afraid not Rosa, but if I hear anything I’ll get straight back to you.

Rosa quickly walks from the room with a resigned nod and as she does so, she passes a huge figure in the doorway. A grunt forces Teddy to look up from his desk and as he does so he stares right into the eyes of Sheamus! The Celtic Warrior receives a harsh bollocking from the crowd as he looks his general manager up and down, the Irishman obviously not pleased.

Sheamus: Do ‘ya think I’m a joke Teddy?

Long tries to mutter a response but the giant Irishman cuts him off.

Sheamus: Well ya’ must do because since I’ve been on Smackdown, I haven’t been given a single thing by ya’. I need real competition Teddy - I’m the man who practically ended Triple H’s career and the reason why the Undertaker left the WWE with his decrepit, greasy tail between his legs. I don’t care whether I’m opening the show or closing it for ya’, I want to be tested. Otherwise, more than just Daniel Bryan’s blood is going to be on your hands after I booted his head off.

Theodore Long: I’ll try and find someone for you to face Sheamus, just give me some time.

With an angry grunt, Sheamus turns on his heels and storms out of his general manager’s office. The moment the Irishman leaves the room, Teddy turns back to the paperwork on his desk but he is again interrupted by a loud beep from the phone in his pocket.

We quickly shoot to what appears to be the side of the arena where a small group of fans are standing. The audience in the arena and the fans congregated outside explode with cheers as Randy Orton slips through a side door and emerges out onto the concrete. The Viper appears to have just finished his warm up as his face is covered in sweat but he quickly wipes it away and heads towards the fans, offering his signature to a multitude of followers in a flurry. After taking a few moments to get to as many fans as possible, Orton turns around and heads towards the door he came out of but Todd Grisham is standing in his way, a microphone in hand.

Todd Grisham: Randy, if it’s ok, would I be able to get a few words?

With a rather pained grimace, Orton nods his head.

Todd Grisham: Have you been watching Alberto Del Rio’s history lessons, for lack of a better word and if so, what are your thoughts on them?

Randy Orton: Of course I’ve been watching Alberto Del Rio because tonight, tonight he is my opponent, he is my prey. For the past two months, I’ve been watching his every move and tonight has been no different. Tonight, I’ve been watching as he exaggerates or just plain fabricates parts of my career that I’m not particularly proud of. I was bad, I’ll admit it. But, as of right now I’m in a good place. It just shows me that, deep down Del Rio is doubting himself if he has to turn to such a tactic in a deliberate attempt to make me angry, so that I make mistakes.

Todd Grisham: Is it working?

As Grisham eagerly holds his microphone forward, Orton leans back and snarls.

Randy Orton: After listening to lie after lie? Of course it’s working. But despite all those things he said about my past, he didn’t say a thing about the person I am today. I can control my anger now, well at least now I can channel it effectively in the ring.

After looking up to the sky Orton chuckles to himself and faces his interviewer once more.

Randy Orton: Up until this year, I didn’t want to be a leader. But I’ve accepted my role now; I actually want to lead this locker room. After tonight, I finally get my chance to do so. I defeat Alberto Del Rio tonight and I get a second championship opportunity in just nine days time. It is there, at Capitol Punishment, in front of my peers and the entire WWE Universe that I destroy Alberto Del Rio. It is there that I become the new World Heavyweight Champion and the leader of Smackdown.

Orton pauses as the crowd explodes with cheers in the arena.

Randy Orton: But while I’ll soon celebrate with my wife and hold the World Heavyweight Championship in my hands alongside by beautiful baby girl, I love them too much to allow them to watch what I do to Del Rio at Capitol Punishment.

As the crowd pops once more, Orton quickly spins on his heels, enters the arena once more and leaves Todd Grisham standing in the cold.

Narrator: Just like the origins of this great country, the WWE was built on a strict set of principles.

A typical WWE opening is shown as a flurry of fireworks explode around both a RAW and Smackdown set.

Narrator: Honour.

The Miz holds the WWE Championship high over his head, a greasy grin spreading across his entire face.

Narrator: Pride.

As Alberto Del Rio stands in front of the world in a spectacular white suit, the World Heavyweight Championship just visible under his sparkling smile.

Narrator: Hard work.

John Cena stares hard into the camera, salutes and then charges down the ramp before switching to a shot of Rey Mysterio, who soaks in the adulation of a capacity crowd.

Narrator: But on one night of the year...

With a flurry, Edge cracks Christian in the back with a steel chair before Dolph Ziggler drives Sin Cara’s face into the mat with the Namedropper.

Narrator: In the nation’s capital...

CM Punk delivers a brutal GTS to Randy Orton, who immediately flops unconscious and Daniel Bryan then pounds away at a defenceless Jack Swagger backstage.

Narrator: That all goes out the window.

John Morrison is battered into the steel stage by Wade Barrett before Alberto Del Rio hurls Rey Mysterio from a ladder with a sick enzuigiri. Just as the Usos crunch into Justin Gabriel with identical headbutts, The Miz drops John Cena with the Skull Crushing Finale.

Narrator: WWE Capitol Punishment!

I HEAR VOICES IN MY HEAD...

*Voices*

With a very determined air about him, Randy Orton rapidly walks to the ring to a massive ovation. After quickly skipping up the steel steps the Viper steps through the ropes, walks out onto the canvas and turns back around to face the titantron, his focus completely on the man he is about to face. The fans continue to cheer loudly but Orton’s cold, grey eyes don’t move a millimetre as he leans on the ropes, his jaw clenched.

*Realeza*

To a monstrous amount of heat, Del Rio emerges out of his luxury vehicle and leaps onto the ramp with a devilish smirk. With his huge, smarmy grin aimed straight at Orton, the Mexican holds out his arms and allows a shower of golden pyro to rain down around him. Del Rio pops his title belt up onto his shoulder and slowly enters the ring as Ricardo Rodriguez arrogantly announces his name. After grinning cheekily at a very agitated Viper, Del Rio enters the ring and takes his place in his assigned corner. The World Heavyweight Champion hands over his belt to the referee and continues to flash his rival with a dazzling smile, causing the Viper to twitch and flicker in rage.

Match #6
Singles Match (Non-Title)
Randy Orton vs. World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio

As the crowd gets to their feet, the pair begins to circle each other with their glares locked on one another. Finally, the official calls for the ball and the pair launch forward. With a furious roar Orton charges at his opponent and Del Rio sprints into the middle of the ring also ONLY TO BOOT THE VIPER BETWEEN THE LEGS?!

Winner: Randy Orton by disqualification (0:06)

The crowd sits in almost stunned silence as Del Rio looms over his downed rival but before long, he crouches down and begins to beat the holy hell out of Orton. While the announcers exchange confused questions, Del Rio continues to pound away at his adversary with punches, stomps and vicious headbutts. The World Heavyweight Champion eventually gets up to his feet and watches, a sick smirk on his mug, as Orton rolls around on the canvas in serious pain. The Viper attempts to get to his feet but the moment he does, Alberto Del Rio swamps him and cracks him in the side of the head with a cruel enzuigiri. However, the premeditated attack isn’t over yet as Ricardo Rodriguez tosses his employer a pair of cold, steel chairs. The WWE Universe can only watch as the Mexican quickly wraps his rival’s arm in a chair and raises his own high into the air, his eyes almost crazed.

With a yelp mangled with Spanglish, Del Rio drives his weapon down towards the mat but Orton dives out of the way! Alberto stumbles backwards as shockwaves run through his two arms and as he turns on his heels, he is smacked across the mush with a chair from the Viper. To a massive cheer, Del Rio crumples to the other side of the canvas and lays defenceless as Orton looms over him, a chair in hand. With a longing glance at the weapon, Orton chooses to toss it aside but as he looks once more at his rival, his eyes light up as Del Rio lays in perfect position for the punt! The Viper, practically frothing at the mouth in anger, sprints back to the other side of the ring and lines Del Rio up in his sights - the old habit obviously too hard to kick. However, as Orton attempts to charge forward, Ricardo Rodriguez tugs on his leg.

The distraction is enough to allow his employer to escape and the ring announcer quickly sprints after him in order to meet him on the stage. The pair looks down at Orton as he stares right back at him; the Viper’s eyes alight with fury. As the Mexican duo slip through the curtain and make a hasty escape, Randy’s angry glare drops, but only slightly as he raises his arms high into the air! It is then that Orton notices the discarded championship belt on the ground, its plate gleaming in the arena lights. In an instant, the Viper scoops up the title and stares right into it with his fist clenched harshly around the leather. Still, the furious look on his mug doesn’t disappear as Orton lifts the World Heavyweight Championship towards the sky to a thunderous ovation from the fans.

Hey Peep, great show as normal. Few, quick thoughts from me as I'm reading on my phone right now. Absolutely loved your promos here, bang on the money all through the show. R-Truth was hilarious, Del Rio was pompously perfect, Cody Rhodes' video was yet again dark and chilling. I loved the exchanges with Swagger and Christian and am interested to see how it goes - both guys need the win, who you have win will tell us a lot about your immediate future plans, IMO. The problems that Long is facing were well written, you had a mention of Sheamus-Taker, Hart Dynasty were on the show. Definitely one of the best TV shows ever here on BT. The ending was slightly confusing - I guess ADR's intention becomes clear next week before the PPV. Other than that, great show, man. GCB

JAM's Review

I really liking unconventional openings to shows so this was good. What Del Rio had to say was good even if he seemed a little character in about one or two lines. But the rest of the promo was great, he got away with some cheap heat along with insulting his opponent, Randy Orton while promising us a lesson, I'm interested to see what he means by this. As for the match, I liked the flow of it to be honest. Sheamus works well with smaller guys so the match to me was a good read. Don't really like Big Show, so I couldn't care less for him here. But I will say that a Sheamus/Bryan feud would be good to see but we all know that you may be preparing Sheamus for Undertaker for Summerslam or even Wrestlemania later on.

A new side of Mysterio we see here, very nice. Not sure that Todd would rudely interrupt Mysterio like that, maybe he could've done it in another way. And with Todd's interruption, it leads me to believe that his family will somehow be involved in a feud once again? Not sure about this move but I trust that you'll do something good with it. As for the match, Husky and Tarver are an interesting duo, would much rather want to see Husky as a singles competitor but I'll give this team a chance. As for Del Rio's “lessons”, I'll comment on those as a whole later on. More Bryan/Show? Please don't make them feud as much as they have in real life, PLEASE!

YES YES YES! The Usos are the #1 Contenders, definitely liking this move. Big fan of the Usos so I'm glad that you're giving them a chance. However, that was a well written match with the Hart Dynasty. I see them getting a future shot, hopefully you build the division around these two teams along with Hawkins and Jericho. Likin' the division so far.

These were to nice promos in a row. Really lovin' your Cody character here, so dark and seems very dangerous. All that he had to say was good, definitely trying to shake up Mysterio into getting into a match with him by threatening his family indirectly. Hopefully you don't keep Cody in the midcard too long, he's main event ready, I believe. As for Slater's promo, it was good, not bad. You're gonna push him? Will be interesting.

Was a good match between Mysterio and Hawkins. I thought that Hawkins would win this but in some sort of dirty fashion but this was definitely different with what Jericho had to say to distract Mysterio. Was a good rub to Hawkins here, you've definitely invested a lot of confidence on him, and so far, he's doing great. Oh Truth, more great stuff from him, haha.

What a Peep Show, loved it from start to finish. What both men had to say was good, it was a good exchange. However, maybe it was a bit rushed when Christian accepted Swagger's challenge, but that's fine. You caught Christian well here and Swagger wasn't too bad though, good emphasis on the lisp, haha. And for the vignette, I have no idea who that is, lol.

Loved the lessons that Del Rio had for us tonight, I bet it was pretty hard writing for Del Rio, especially three times in one show but you did well in that department. As for the main event, I liked it and I didn't like it. I think that Del Rio ending the match by DQ was brilliant, but maybe he should've come out on top. I wasn't sure who was on top last week, but if it was Del Rio again, then I guess this was an okay move to have Orton out on the top in this show.

Overall, a very enjoyable episode of Smackdown. Orton/Del Rio, Cody/Mysterio, and Swagger/Christian were the highlights for me in this episode. My favorite BT on here right now, lol. Looking forward to what you produce next. Also, you're doing a great job at going away from the real WWE, you and Theo do a great job at that. Let's get to CP already!
